This is a fantastic place for brunch in Chelsea. The staff is very friendly and efficient, even if the place gets crowded. The food service is very quick too. The atmosphere inside is nice and cozy. It's brilliant for having a nice meal with friends and family. There's music inside, so maybe not the best place for quiet conversations. We ordered the burger, Mexican bowl, avocado toast and fried chicken with pancakes. The food was delicious, especially the oatmeal pancakes and Mexican bowl. The drinks were really refreshing, especially on a hot day. Have absolutely no issues recommending this place.

Overall My experience at the Grey Dog was fine, offering a solid mocha and some decent food. It was wonderful to arrive first thing in the morning when it was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing.

Went there for brunch and overall very satisfied. Food was overall very good, except for the pancakes, which tasted very weird/unusual… not sure what they added 🧐. We say outside and the tables seemed a little bit damaged — not sure if it was on purpose (a “style”…) though. Service was totally fine.

Great Dog Chelsea is an amazing spot for happy hour! Their selection of coffee drinks and lattes is unbeatable, and they have some of the best deals in the city during happy hour. I especially love their craft beers for just $4 each—it's crazy, especially for New York! They also offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, including fresh salads and the millennial classic - avocado toast topped with a poached egg (don't judge, please, haha). The service here is always excellent and make sure they give you an experience you will want to come back for. Whether you're looking for a great cup of coffee or a fun happy hour spot, Great Dog Chelsea has you covered. Highly recommend stopping by for some of the best deals in town!

The food was delicious and it’s a small, but cute, atmosphere. I love the amount of food you get for the price. The staff working were friendly in the sense of greeting you at the door, but weren’t super engaging with us while taking our orders. The grilled cheese is a favorite from here.

I’m from South Korea. This place was so good that I visited twice during my vacation. The food, service, and atmosphere were all perfect. Especially, the man who said cheers was the best. I plan to go back in a few days!!!!

Very charming place with a dog theme...local artist paintings of dogs on the wall for starters. Demure atmosphere great for conversation. Always a big plus when dining out with a friend or someone special. Next, onto service. Our server seemed a bit new but was very pleasant and accommodating. He was a having a little difficulty with the iPad ordering system but got through it AND even got our order right. Score! Now for the food... my guest and I both ordered 1/2 lb Big House burger with cheddar cheese. One without the caramelized onions and paired with a toss salad. The other had the onions bacon and a side of Julienne fries. Burgers were very tasty and cooked to our liking. Lastly the peach mango fizz was delicious and not too sweet. If I was in the neighborhood again, I would go back for breakfast......

The Grey Dog has a chill, neighborhood vibe, and so do the servers. Everyone helped each other out and the service was continual. We ordered two drinks, housemade chorizo hash, and oven roasted turkey sandwich. The chorizo hash was okay, but the potatoes didn't have any crispness and the egg was overcooked so it didn't have a runny yolk. The turkey sandwich was delicious!!! It tasted like a Thanksgiving turkey meal with the sweet bacon jam. I would go back for this!

What a lovely breakfast location. It's very rustic and cool. It's busy enough to where you know it's good, but not too busy to where you're waiting forever and a day for a seat. I visited with a party of 3 and we were seated right away. I opted for a simple breakfast and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sweet potato fries were also arguably the best I've ever had. This restaurant is great and I would definitely recommend going!

Surprisingly my first time at Gray Dog! We made a reservation for four people at 12pm on a Sunday. When we arrived it was super busy, despite it being a rainy day. We actually chose to sit in their outdoor dining structure which was comfortable - not cold and every table had their own heater. Inside it was nicely decorated for the holidays. The servers were attentive, but food and drinks took a long time to arrive. I ordered an latte which was good, they also have a pretty long cocktail list. For my meal, I took a chance and ordered the shrimp cake burger. I was hoping it would be more of a ground shrimp burger, but it was also mixed with breadcrumb and was more similar to a a crab cake/clam cake. Still tasty, but I was wishing I had ordered the fish tacos. My husband got the Gray Dog breakfast which looked good - but it was a lot on one plate -fries, eggs, french toast, and sausage. Would have been nice if they separated it on two plates. Very solid breakfast option in Chelsea!

The ambiance is very cute here! It was very cozy and lively. The tables and seating are quite packed but it wasn't very uncomfortable and helped to contribute to the cozy and lively atmosphere. The decor is also very fun. I got the chicken pot pie soup which looked adorable with a pie crust top. Beneath the pie crust was a warm thick chicken soup. I wished this soup could be bigger because it was delicious but it was still quite filling. The Brussels sprouts we shared as a table and they were nice and crispy but also sweet and savory. This was a great spot to visit on a cold day for brunch with friends! Though do know that prices are akin to what you expect for the west village/Chelsea ($$)

Stopped by for brunch and ordered their popular chicken and waffles. These definitely are on the very sweet side, and while the chicken part was great, the waffles got soggy super quickly and reminded me of Eggo waffles. Their grilled cheese bites with tomato soup was much better, with the savoriness of the cheese, and crispy toasted bread pairing quite well with their sweeter tomato soup. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, but wouldn't return for the food.

American new restaurants are rarely my preferred choice of meal venue, but sometimes the errant french toast craving strikes. I used to frequent the Grey Dog when I went to high school in lower Manhattan, so I thought I'd revisit those memories with a meal here. On this last visit I was seated right away, even during a busy Saturday brunch rush, so that was a win. The food was not as much of a win. The pancakes were sad, and were more akin to those served at motel cafeterias and not like the crispy edged ones that have come to be fortunately common at some of the best NY restaurants. The breakfast burrito I ordered was even worse, lacking any flavor and wasn't improved much by hot sauce, since they only had tobasco as an option. I would've had lower expectations had this breakfast burrito not been $19, but the days of inexpensive NY brunch are over and I should probably accept that if I'm going to dine out. Still, my visit to the Grey Dog left me wanting.

Came for brunch for 2 on a Sunday. I got the chicken and johnny cakes which was a 7/10. Service was a little slow but they were busy. The inside felt rustic and cozy.

I had a pretty solid dinner experience at The Grey Dog. I work nearby so me and my coworkers went after work. It was very busy so we had to wait about 10 minutes. Unfortunately I think you can only make reservations for bigger parties. Our waitress greeted us quickly and was very nice. I will say she could've been more attentive though. We had to call other staff for basic things like water, more straws, and napkins. It was also difficult to find her for the check. Other than that we had a good meal and drinks. The drinks we ordered were not on their happy hour but note they do have happy hour from 4pm to 7pm on weekdays. Me and my coworker ordered the frosé (only one flavor) and our other coworker had the Spicy Pineapple Marg. We all loved our drinks! ORDER THE FROSÉ! For food we were craving savory and sweet so we got a weird combo of the nachos, fries, wings, and french toast. We all agreed that the stars were the wings and french toast. I like that the buffalo sauce wasn't just thrown on top of the wings but cooked in it and wasn't dry. It was crispy. The french toast was the perfect texture, not too soft or hard! I definitely want to come back for breakfast.

I want to give this place 5 stars, but because of the service I had to knock them down a peg. We arrived around 2:30 pm on a Saturday so expected a wait. The hostess told us it would only be 5 minutes, so after 25 had passed we went back to check in. They were quite rude and insisted it had only been 15 minutes not 25, when we had the text confirmation. It was very confusing and poor service. We told them to take our names off the wait list and left, but we were standing outside and they came out to grab us and gave us an open table outside. I ordered the vegan burrito but substituted for the regular eggs. We also got the fried Brussel sprouts for the table. Also got the breakfast bowl and the kale Caesar salad with chicken. I got a chai as well. Everything was actually very very good. No complaints. Would recommend the brussels and the burrito. The hot matcha was just okay however. Don't know if I would come again but the food was very good.

Stopped in for a quick drink with my coworkers at the end of a recent trip. We had a large table in the back and our server was super nice and attentive. The entire place was super cute and quite spacey. It was very LGTBQ friendly! Our drinks was strong but tasty! And the food was delicious as well. Everyone loved what they ordered. I'd come back if I was in town!

Very nice ambience and atmosphere for breakfast that's for sure. Very surprised at breakfast bowl with alfalfa sprouts and hummus at bottom. It would have been nicer if it came with side of crispy pita chip to dip the hummus. Flavor is great! French toast is good, sweet with interesting butter choice. It's truly a solid breakfast spot that's airy and beautiful in its presentation and taste. Seating is very tight as is most places here. Attentive service.

Visited the place on a busy weekend. I was able to make a reservation online and was seated right away. Everyone at the Grey Dog is very nice and the best part is that dogs are allowed inside. Food was amazing! I tried their club sandwich and the french toast. Coffee was also great. Our highlight of the visit was staff who were very attentive and kind to us. Honestly everything was great, nothing to complain about.

Came here for the daily happy hour! Especially since it's harder to find a weekend happy hour, The Grey Dog came in clutch! Their happy hour is M-F from 3-7pm and Saturday/Sunday from 4-7pm. We showed up around 5pm, and it wasn't too busy. We had outdoor seating which had a good ambience. We got the Glow Up Mule for $7, and it was really good! I liked that it had a nice presentation and tasted very good. My friend ordered the Rosé which was really dry and not that great to be honest. We got the Grilled Cheese Dippers with Tomato Soup, which was really good. We also got the Fried Artichokes, but I didn't particularly love it (not the biggest fan of artichokes lol). Service was great; our server was always checking on us and made sure we had everything we needed. I would come back for sure!

Comfortable environment but a sort of mediocre experience. I ordered the Egg and Cheese Croissant with sausage ($17 + $3 for the sausage) and also tried the Mediterranean Bowl ($18). The Egg and Cheese Croissant was just average in quality - average croissant (store bought quality), average sausage, egg was more like over medium rather than over easy as requested, and most notably, there was NO cheese in there! That's right, the Egg and Cheese Croissant had no cheese! How can that be... it did come with lots of sweet potato fries though, which were pretty tasty, although they were $1 extra which was not mentioned when I ordered. The Mediterranean Bowl was pretty good but the portion size was not that big. The braised short rib in there was very tender though, and it was generally a pretty healthy bowl of food. The place itself is pretty big with a bunch of tables and a number of empty ones on a Saturday night. The interior has a nice open feel with some nice wood-themed decor. The staff were friendly and attentive although a bit uncoordinated, with one waitress coming to tell us something (ex: last call for food) and then another coming by to say the exact same thing literally less than a minute later. The service speed was quite fast though. Overall, I was not that impressed by the food, especially the shocking lack of cheese in the "egg and cheese" croissant. That being said, the environment is still decent and the experience as a whole was not too bad.

We got a burger with fries and a grilled cheese with tomato soup. The burger was good as were the fries however nothing special. The grilled cheese was good and the tomato soup was delicious. Our service was not great, we had to ask twice for our drinks. Overall the ambiance was good and we liked the music and vibe of the restaurant.

Delicious breakfast spot! My favourite was actually the grilled cheese bites with the creamy tomato soup. Tasted exactly as I hoped for and I am absolutely satisfied! I went on a Saturday early morning and the restaurant had a lot of space. We sat down right away and the food didn't take long to come out either. Really like how the restaurant is decorated too! Very cute and quaint underground cafe. The staff were super friendly as well and came to check on us a few times. The only thing I wouldn't get again is the chai latte. I didn't taste the chai very much - it tasted a bit like warm oat milk with a dash of cinnamon. Everything else was delicious and I would definitely come back!!

This restaurant was right across the street from our hotel so my husband and I decided to get breakfast here. The service was very good and everything came out fast and was super delicious. The portions are huge so prepare to have leftovers. I got a cappuccino and the short ribs hash, my only complaint is that it didn't have a lot of short ribs in it, but otherwise it was flavorful. My husband got the grey dog breakfast and he enjoyed it.

One of my favorite places for happy hour. Joyful place, kind staff. $8 for 6 wings, $7 hisbiscus mule. Prices have gone up but I still recommend this spot for HH.

Great vibes, great food, and great coffee!! My go to lunch spot on the way to the Whitney Museum. The locations in the West Village and Union square area are also awesome!!

The food was good however the service was lackluster at best. The table was unstable and extremely small- it wasn't the legs but the actual tabletop and all the items, condiments they place on the table. The server brought me the incorrect beverage even after I stated my drink twice AND pointed to it on the menu. When I asked her to bring the drink I ordered she seemed put out. When our food order arrived, somehow she dropped the sauce all off the table, my lap and floor. She apologized and was visibly embarrassed. She cleaned up the floor and table but expressed little concern with the copious amounts of sauce i had in my lap. I then had to ask item by item and multiple times to provide- napkins, water, silverware, my drink, the SAUCE. After all this, I received a bill charging me for 2 drinks. 1) that has sauce spilled into it and 2) the replacement. When brought the discrepancy to the servers attention, she explained that I had asked for another drink. Staring blankly, I explained because she dropped MAYONNAISE into it. People make mistakes and have accidents-not the problem. Lazy and inconsiderate responses to these mistakes are not acceptable.

This is a cute little breakfast place that I would recommend. We found this place on Google and the pics looked nice so we stopped in. It's very small but they get a good amount of customers. We luckily got there a little early and was seated immediately. They did have high chairs for my toddler which was great. Our hostess was very nice with a smile. Our waiter was enthusiastic and friendly. I asked him about the avocado toast and what he thought and he said it wasn't his favorite because the avocado was on soft bread and he prefers hard. I like soft so I gave it a try with scrambled eggs instead of over easy. It was delicious! I really enjoyed my avocado toast. It came with home fries that had no seasoning tho. I was disappointed in that. I also got a vanilla latte and it didn't have enough vanilla for me so I had to ask for more. Overall, we had a great experience and would go back.

We visited nyc and went to The Grey Dog for lunch. We were seated quickly indoors and the ambience was very cute. The tables are incredibly close to one another so we moved the table next to us down a bit. We ordered a beer and a spicy pineapple margarita. They were both tasty! We split the sticky nuggets, which were ok. I think we both expected them to have some sort of breading but they were more of a marinated chicken. We also had the omelet with fruit. The fruit was amazing! Served in a large bowl and was nice and fresh. The chicken club sandwich was ok. It was kinda dry and flavorless. Overall, I think we'd go back for a happy hour for drinks but I think there's a lot better options for food in NYC.

The food is always on point. Every thing we've ordered has been delicious and we can't wait to taste the full menu. Service quick and we felt at home. This spot has a very cozy vibe. The menu is a great mix that caters to different tastes and preferences, and you can even get breakfast all day! I got the crispy tofu, which was fried and seasoned to perfection. Other food was great too, very reasonable prices and hefty portions. Service was attentive and food came out fast. I would definitely recommend making a reservation- it was fairly busy even before 6PM on a Thursday.

Delicious! Super filling salad. Definitely worth the money, I added extra chicken but definitely did not need to. There was a whole head of cauliflower. If you like hummus I recommend this bowl because there was a generous amount.

I've been here a few times with different groups of friends and family. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that there's something for everyone. Whether you like meat, vegetarian, spicy, healthy, sweet, or something fried, there's a great menu option for you. The service is always great and servers are very friendly and helpful. I've found the food (specifically the plant-based substitutes for meat and egg) to be a little bit hit or miss in terms of flavor, but it's always decent and I do recommend this spot. The soups and mocktails are great. My meat-eating friends have had no complaints about the food, and have loved every dish!

Since I had my dog with me today, I was looking for a place with outdoor seating. So I stopped off here, I ordered the Grilled Cheese Dippers and a greek goddess salad. Grilled Cheese Dippers-I was kind of expecting something more like a grilled cheese version of mozzarella sticks. Something that is more conducive to Actually dipping. This was just a grilled cheese that laid around too long and had dried out cut into 4th's and $2 extra because it had some mediocre tomato soup to "dip" in. Lackluster. Greek Goddess Salad-The arugula overpowered the taste of the rest of the dish, the "greek" salad dressing was not that good. The only thing making it "Greek" was a couple of pieces of feta. No olives, no stuffed grape leaves, nada. Overall: Lackluster and not going back to.

As soon as you step in Grey Dog, it brings a warm feeling of comfort. The service was so fast, the hostesses, waiters, and staff were all incredibly friendly. The food was absolutely delicious as well! I am so glad I decided to give this place a try and next time I'm in NYC, you best believe I'm going back without debate.

One of my favorite brunch places!! It's usually not too busy when I've gone, unlike a lot of places, so it's really great to not have to wait in a long line. My favorite things here are the grilled cheese dippers with the tomato soup and the french toast! I love getting these two together because I like my brunches to have a savory palate and a sweet palate separatly! The Grey Dog's menu is vast, so there are so many delicious dishes to choose from whether you're craving lunch more than breakfast, vice versa. Service is also pretty quick! Definitely try this place!

The service was terrific and brunch yummy! Always looking for a place that allows us to take our son and Boston Terrier. In a cold windy day the staff was so kind to allow Dory by the fire so we could have a terrific breakfast. I loved the Avocado toast with a poached egg. Absolutely delicious. They also support rescuing furry friends and we will definitely be back and recommend this resturant to all our friends.

A cute spot for classic brunch fixings in the Chelsea area (though they have multiple locations around the city) -- stopped by with a friend to catch up and there was no wait for 2, even on a Saturday morning. It's a pretty small space, so would definitely arrive earlier or be prepared to wait if you have a larger party! The vibe inside is rustic and cozy and the waiters were super attentive and sweet. I got the egg and cheese croissant and it was super filling and tasty! I especially loved the home fries -- they were not quite what I was expecting, but rather little, pillowy squares of potato that were DELISH! I would totally go back again (especially since their omelette looked super tasty with lots of different add-ons)!

Stopped in for an early lunch on Wednesday morning at the Chelsea location. Super cute inside. I had to have the "Michigan" beer, and loved the call out to the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). The Grey Dog would be right at home in Ann Arbor. I had the fried chicken & waffles. I loved the maple syrup and chili's to add a bit of spice. They were more like waffles and chicken tenders, rather than a sandwich-style. Excellent. People were working at tables as they enjoyed coffee and food. Service was friendly.

Pretty good fast service. Makes a great choice for a quick breakfast but I do wish they had more non pork options. We sat outside, which was fine so never got a chance to experience inside. Food was good, typical staple brunch food but seems popular among locals.

Such great service! They are fun and warm and make you feel welcome. I came here for breakfast and they let me park on the outdoor seating for a few hours while I worked. So nice to enjoy a slow day outside with their food and coffees! Will definitely come back!

After going thru a lot of brunch places I selected this one..since I was meeting a good friend after a long time and they have vegan options. We ordered: artichoke (starter), vegan chicken sandwich & regular chicken sandwich. All were great & delicious!!! Fries are thin & crispy & properly salted - outstanding!! Great brunch spot!

My husband Tom and I see this as our local when in NYC. Great service, fantastic beers, and lovely food. Always looked after above and beyond by Christian and his team. We look forward to being back! A very special place.

Seems like a cute brunch spot for a 20something crowd. Food was good enough. Glad there were vegan & vegetarian options. Burgers & sandwiches offer fries or salad (up charge). The spicy pineapple margarita was tasty but wouldn't come back for them or the food... Very friendly staff although not really attentive to us. Let's just say, if your in the neighborhood, give a try; if your not, find something else.

Food was mediocre at best. Skip the fried Brussels, they have 0 flavor. Main complaint was them seating two obnoxious people at the table right next to us when most of the two-tops in the restaurant were empty. Ruined the whole meal because these girls were so loud. Service was great. Our server should work somewhere else where she'll make better money. She was great.

Came here with a few of my friends to try, especially because a few are vegan and they had a ton of vegan options. We had a reservation but still waited about 20 minutes (no big deal). The only problem was they rushed us out even though we were sat late. I'm talking bussed and started wiping the table down while we were still sitting. If they had a bottomless brunch with a time limit I could justify getting booted from my table, but after being sat late and not even finished with our meal/drinks and being told we have to leave in 10 minutes is crazy. Food was average and nothing to write home about. I will not be going back. Two stars for our very kind server and ambiance only.

Multiple locations in nyc for all day brunch! Absolutely love the vintage rustic decor inside and leads to a great ambiance that's perfect for something more casual. Plenty of vegetarian options and also clearly labeled gluten free. A banging good happy hour deal from 4-7pm with half off cocktails and super cheap beer and wine. They do not have HH food, only full price. We tried the Brussels sprouts and they were delicious!

This cafe is super cute!! I actually really only cared for their latte with paw art, which is why I went. The staff is friendly and ambiance is relaxing. Literally the entire place has pictures of dogs everywhere, which is super cute if you love dogs. Interesting story that one of the employees told me was that the owner had 2 dogs 1 was white and the other was a black Labrador I believe. Therefore to honor both of his dogs he came up with the name The Grey Dog cafe because when you mix black and white it creates gray. Incase you're wondering yes you can bring your fur baby with you while visiting the cafe. There's plenty of seating inside and outside as well. Staff was friendly!!

Went to brunch with a friend around 12 and didn't have to wait too long - maybe 15 min? The service was really quick and ordered the chicken and waffles. Fair price, really filling, and decently tasty! The server was definitely trying to get us out of there but hey that's New York. Maybe $20 after tip tax and meal? Not bad!

Went to The Grey Dog today after many years but sadly my opinion still stands that although the service is really excellent and friendly, this restaurant is overrated. The restaurant itself is still dirty, bathrooms are extremely dirty, and the food is still not good. I know I'm in the minority here but I definitely don't recommend this spot.
