Google
Great dining experience, filled with cordial service and a super cute atmosphere. My friend and I came for bunch on a Friday morning and we had a lovely time. Server was helpful with recommendations and very patient with our order. My friend ordered the pistachio and avocado salad with grilled chicken, and I ordered the pancakes with fried chicken. Both dishes were prepared to perfection and super well-seasoned. We also each ordered the peach fizz mocktail, which was such a fun treat and not overly sweet. Pro-tip: they get super busy noon-onward, so I highly recommend making reservations. All in all, I would 100% return to this restaurant for another dining experience and you should too :-)

Had such a great time at The Grey Dog! The food was seriously delicious — everything tasted fresh and comforting, like the kind of meal that hits just right. From the first bite to the last, we were impressed. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. Definitely a spot I’d come back to — whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a relaxed meal, The Grey Dog delivers.

Google
Very cute place, yummy food, and great service. We were flying out that day and they took our oversized stroller to the back. The grilled cheese dipper with tomato soup was sooo good.

Google
What a pleasant surprise to find The Grey Dog on this warm Tuesday afternoon. The place is cozy and welcoming, with a menu full of great variety. The food was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy. A special thanks to Gilbert and Anderson for their outstanding service — friendly, attentive, and genuine. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
This place is always full and I know why. The food is delicious, great spot, lots of foreigners and they love what’s on the menu. Prices are fantastic, not an overpriced place. Great service, attentive and polite. One thing is the matcha game needs to be stepped up. Here they have a very low quality matcha and would be amazing to have ceremonial grade because at this point it sadly tastes like nothing. Still lots of love to this place!

Google
Delicious and healthy New American cuisine in the Union Square area. My friend and I stopped here, and within minutes, we got a table outdoors despite the crowd. The servers are wonderful. Food came out less than fifteen minutes after we placed our orders. The items on the menu are light, healthy, wholesome, and filling. (The server even joked that he had once eaten the Mexican bowl nearly every day for months.) Prices here are also in a good range. A wonderful brunch, and I would come here again.

Service was very accommodating as we arrive early and managed to get seating . As for food is just normal nothing fantastic.

Very cute, quaint place with unique and artsy decor. Friendly and quick service. Very tasty food for breakfast and new tasty flare on traditional dishes.

Yelp
Walking in you can't help but to feel at home (except decor far exceeds what is in our home). Numerous breakfast options, all of which sound good. Plant based eggs, avocado as an option vs. meat...so very veggie friendly, and the menu makes it easy to find the veggie options. Coffee was good and arrived quickly with water; both were kept filled during the meal, another positive. We had the classic omelette and Grey Dog breakfast, both of which were enjoyed. Definitely would return.

Yelp
When I saw all of the little "v" icons on the menu I was blown away. I asked our waiter if that stood for vegan or vegetarian, and he assured me it was vegan. We order the "vegan" labeled fried artichokes. I asked our waiter if the aioli that comes with it was also vegan. He said yes, if there's a "V" next to the menu item the whole dish should be vegan. He's right. It SHOULD be. Bless his heart for double checking with the kitchen before submitting our order- the aioli that was served alongside the "vegan" fried artichokes was in fact NOT vegan. Why do places do this sh*t? It made me distrust the menu, and not want to eat the cabbage slaw that came with my "vegan" meal. The food was good. The place was busy (make reservations), service a bit slow. But for real, comb through your menu and ensure if it has a "v," it is an entirely vegan option (same applies for the gluten free friends), or add an asterisk saying its vegan-able

Yelp
I was here earlier right after opening and this place does fill up fast but service is quick here so we did get lucky to get a table when we got there. We were sat down and greeted immediately and they have an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. I had the egg and cheese croissant with home fries and it was the most crunchy yet buttery croissant I've had in a while. The eggs were perfectly scrambled with the cheese and the home fries were crisp as well. The place has a very welcoming and friendly vibe to it and it's a perfect place to stop by for a meal. I'd love to come back one day and try their French toast.

Yelp
Great brunch spot in union square! It seems to be a very popular breakfast/ brunch location. My only tid is that they did not have decaf coffee (trying to kick the caffeine in 2025). I was craving a sort of Mexican brunch bowl and they were kind enough to let me swap the eggs for the meat and add a side of crema. It was delish! I ate the entire thing. Definitely will return! The staff were super upbeat and friendly. Definitely a sit down spot for a brunch where you can take your time and relax in a super quirky and cute interior.

Yelp
Let me first say that I love the grey dog. It was the breakfast that made me a fan back in 2016-17 AND since it's been awhile, I had to go back BUT to try the dinner/entree options. This is one of their smaller locations and although they were BUSY, we were still able to make last minute reservations and get seated asap. The burger was... good, if you just want a decent burger. However, the Philly wrap was really delicious so I'll recommend that. The Bloody Mary was delicious also (Bellini also), you'll be surprised how many places mess up the BM - so big shoutout to the grey dog for that. This is a place I'll forever come back to. I think you can get anything here and be pleased honestly. Check out any of the locations

Yelp
I had a great experience at the grey dog!! They only seat full parties, so we had to wait a bit before getting seated. It was kind of slow because our friend got the wrong location (make sure to double check beforehand!!) so we missed our grace period, but the staff was super nice about getting us seated at the next available table!! Very accommodating and friendly staff overall The environment was a bit loud as they were playing loud music, but it was still fun and my friends had a great time! The decor is also really fun there's a ton of interesting themes going on The food was so good! I got a breakfast bowl which they let me sub out the poached egg for scrambled eggs, and the hummus in it was so good. My friends also really enjoyed their grey dog sub and chorizo hash. I tried some of their fries and they were great. Portions were really big! Overall solid place for brunch

Yelp
Whenever I am in the city and not sure where to go, I end up at a Grey Dog. This place is very welcoming from the wonderful staff to the whole feel of the place. This time around we only got drinks and a dessert. The apple crumb cake was good but I wished it was warmed up. That would have brought the dessert to a whole different level. We debated to get a few items on the happy hour menu (3-7pm) as they looked and sounds amazing. Next time for sure we'll be dining here!

Yelp
Really good breakfast spot in Union Square area. Cozy ambiance, good coffee and food. Service was attentive.

Yelp
Weekday afternoon, solo diner, restaurant was busy but no wait. Ate at the bar. Had the BLAT and French fries, and a Bloody Mary. Both were delicious and generously portioned. Service was friendly and on point but not hovering. Will definitely make this a repeat stop on my weekly runs to the greenmarket nearby.

Yelp
We may have had the best table in the window for our group of 4 Went for brunch on a Saturday and we all enjoyed our bowls I had the breakfast bowl and the avocado was perfect Others had the chorizo bowl and really enjoyed that too We will be back!!

Yelp
I walked in for brunch, and while it was really busy, I was able to get sat at the bar. I got the omelette, which was really fluffy and filling. The accompanying potatoes were also really delicious - very crispy and well seasoned. I also got the coffee, which q a much needed pick-me-up. I really enjoyed the vibe of the location most of all. While the staff were crazy busy, they were still friendly and attentive. And I just generally enjoy the eclectic decor, although I am a bit confused by the mix of University of Michigan sports paraphernalia. All in all, a solid spot for brunch - I can see why this spot is popular. While I went alone, it seems like a good spot to get brunch with friends (although there might be a wait)

Yelp
Dope spot! Great lively service and cute girls!! Spicy kale with krispy tofu highly recommend We got the fried artichoke, spinach artichoke dip was best I've ever tried anywhere, and fried Brussels sprouts. Perfection. Also had the bean tortilla soup- not my fave

Yelp
A friend of mine had come from the West Coast & we needed a bite before a matinee show. I knew of Grey Dog and was worries of it being peak hours on a Sunday for brunch, but the staff was exceptionally kind and communicative in all of the hubbub of a usual Sunday afternoon. We ended up changing our minds from waiting for a table to then being seated at the bar, and it did not disappoint! The drinks and shareable foods were fantastic! A HUGE shoutout to our lovely bartender, Emma, as well as Griffin, Ariel, Sarah, and the rest of the staff. We greatly appreciate your kindness, camaraderie, and service in the restaurant. We're looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Have been here twice and very much enjoy it. Seating can be a bit crowded but the decor is very cute. Came for brunch and dinner, and it was busy both times. The food is solid--nothing remarkable to write home about compared to any other brunch place but definitely a place to keep in rotation.
google avatar

Yelp
Came for weekday brunch and while I can't remember the last time I ate at Grey Dog, the food was still as great as I remembered it to be! Since it was a weekday, we got seated immediately as there were tables available though they did fill up quickly! I ordered the grey dog breakfast with French toast and an iced latte. The salad with the course as well as the home fries was so so good and while that was not the main dish, it became mine! I had the French toast next and I didn't expect much of it to be honest but it was delicious! Moist, flavored nicely and tastier with the syrup dip - I didn't think I'd be able to finish the whole plate of food but I did! Will be back!

Yelp
I came by on a beautiful afternoon for happy hour outside. The staff is super welcoming and prompt. The drinks were strong and the ambiance is cozy. We ordered the margarita (I thought it was a bit too sour) and the mule which was very cute with the sparkle powder. We ordered the happy hour wings which were just ok and the grey dog cheeseburger which was huge - it came with two patties i believe. Overall, the drinks and vibe were better than the food but it's at a great location. I can see why its so popular. Our waiter was great~
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for lunch with many breakfast and lunch options. I got the avocado toast which was a great classic but the grilled cheese was just ok.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, serving size is just right. Our waiter was efficient and courteous and the decor/ vibe is cute and summery! I had the Chipotle Chicken bowl...it was not spicy at all...drinks were well made.

Yelp
This place was kind of a train wreck to be honest, which is a shame since I was really looking forward to it. I came here for weekend brunch (note: breakfast is served all day everyday too) with a friend. The restaurant was small with some outdoor seating as well. The aesthetic was hipster with a lot of random travel-related decor, like license plates ñ, maps, etc. Originally my friend asked to sit by the window and they told us that they usually save that spot for larger parties but they were able to accommodate. About five minutes later, a different server came and told us they were expecting a few large parties and we had to move. Very unapologetic about it and frankly, rude. They didn't even move our plates or silverware or transfer the water over. It was an inconvenience for us to have to move especially after being told by another waiter that we could sit there. When it came time to order, my friend ordered the vegan chicken and sweet potato beignets with a spicy kale salad and chai latte. I needed more time to order so I ordered after the waitress came out with the latte. Unfortunately they brought my friend the wrong latte.... They gave him a coffee latte instead of a chai latte, so we asked them to swap it out. Shortly after swapping out the drink, the waitress returned his food. I was left without my food for another twenty minutes. Not sure why they didn't bring both plates out at once...one waiter also wanted to clear his plate before he was even done eating. For my meal I had an egg white omelette with toast and salad. It was very run of the mill. My friend said the vegan chicken was good and tasted a lot like real chicken, but he was expecting the beignets to be more creative. They just tasted like regular sweet potato, which was disappointing. Overall, I don't think I'd return to this location. It's a fine brunch spot if you want the usual brunchy items like eggs and pancakes but it wasn't super memorable and the service lacked a lot to be desired.

Yelp
Was getting tired walking around the village so naturally I stopped in on a Tuesday morning before a cross country flight for a quick mimosa. I asked if I could grab one and pay right away, which my handsome server was happy to oblige to. Really loved the vibe of this place, and if I were hungry I certainly would have stayed to eat a bite as well. I wasn't sure what the theme was -- it felt somewhat midwestern but then had nods to New England and Cape Cod. Either way I was a fan. I was by myself and my waiter came and chatted with me for a bit about my travels. Very friendly staff all along. I was in New York for about 5 days and this was BY FAR the cleanest and nicest public bathroom I had gone into. The bathroom was really nothing special but a massive step up from literally everywhere else I had gone all weekend. It had a mirror above the sink, which is not something I thought I would ever need to celebrate. And not one single spot of graffiti. A New York miracle on 34th street or wherever this was, idk!

Yelp
I guess sometimes star ratings are not the best indicator of restaurant's quality. Not that we expected the world of a busy brunch spot, but super slow service and getting an order completely wrong is uh.. sub standard for NYC. Omelette with cheese and bacon was ordered and we got omelette with mushroom and onion? Like not even close.... We were seated at the bar but if you're at the end of the bar near the service pass, don't do it. It's half a spot and servers will be bumping your arm a lot to get water, drinks etc. My order came out fine but it got cold waiting for my companion's order to be corrected as that took forever to come out to.
google avatar

L. Eliza C.

Yelp
I haven't been here for years, and I am happy. This place is still in existence. As a hungry vegetarian, I am very pleased with the food and the options for this vegetarian. I also like the service and the vibe. The food was good as I had the vegan burrito and coffee. My friend had the salmon. The vibe is eclectic and we stayed there for out while having coffee and catching up and we were not rushed at all. I strongly recommend this place if you're looking for a place to eat around Union Square.
google avatar

Allison T.

Yelp
Really great service especially during a huge weekend for the city, great food, only thing is the volume inside, it's hard to hear anything over the music, for a five pm dinner it was unexpected
google avatar

Mimzy F.

Yelp
I love their food and service is generally great. Most recently I got the fried artichokes (great and delicious, especially the aioli it came with, but dang for $11 I get 5 slivers of an artichoke heart?!) but their prices have gone up exponentially. I totally get that everything these days is more expensive, but some things on the menu have almost doubled! The food itself was great (I got the artichokes which we split to start and then I got the Mexican bowl. My friend got the breakfast platter which was super big! The Mexican bowl was spicier than I anticipated and didn't see anything that indicated it would be THAT spicy - I do enjoy spicy foods, but just wish I had known ahead of time. The service was a little weird - we were tucked in a front corner with no tables next to us and kind of hard to get to when the table behind us blocked most of the access to us. We had 4 different people come up to us at different times so it was hard to know if we had one server or not, but everyone we did interact with was super nice. Will definitely be back again
google avatar

Carsyn F.

Yelp
Solid breakfast spot! Cute decor inside, felt like a California beach vibe. The service was good overall but the food did take longer than expected to come out. The breakfast bowl was yummy but not what you might expect of a bowl- the base was hummus, where I thought it might be quinoa. Nice that they offer outdoor and indoor seating options!

Ellen V.

Yelp
Generous portions of comfort food at reasonable prices. Friendly and genuine service. Yes, a little crowded and noisy, but not obnoxiously so.
google avatar

El M.

Yelp
Clean and classic decor. Friendly and fast service. Food was fresh and delicious. Coffee was served hot in real cups. Will come back for easy, no nonsense breakfast. Thank you.
google avatar

Rosilyn L.

Yelp
Service and food were amazing it had a great vibe and was great for the family. Plus it looked like a bunch of adults enjoying themselves too so it was a great mix.
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
I believe the owners have changed. Denny's would've been a better brunch spot. Food is bland, service slow, 50% missing ingredients -- an overall lacking experience. Waitresses were attentive but food just wasn't it. Pancakes: dry. Short Rib Hash: tasted a day or two old. Breakfast Bowl: 60% hummus. No broccolini, no mushroom, no toast. We were asked to leave after being there for 50 mins even though we were still wrapping up our drinks. Save your time and money. No longer the place it used to be.
google avatar

Maddy A.

Yelp
The BEST spot for a rainy day in need of some warm soup! Vibes are always great whether it's for a lunch or a quick happy hour. Their happy hour specials are great as well! Highly recommend this spot for a quick lunch.
google avatar

Flora H.

Yelp
Fun spot with a great menu of food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). They do have happy hour but it ends at 6 pm so get here early! The vibe is young and hip. I had the fish tacos which in addition to being a generous serving of three large tacos, were made with large, quality pieces of fish and so delicious that I ate all three (really unnecessarily). They have both healthier and more indulgent items of their menu so there's something for everyone. Nice casual spot to meet someone for a bite!

Ricardo B.

Yelp
The food is healthy and tastes healthy. I grabbed the chicken bowl which lacked flavor, unfortunately. It sat on a bed of quinoa, spinach and black beans, also zero flavor. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch with my mother. We sat outside, because it was quieter....for a while. A table of loud, noisy young girls and a boy on our right got into some sort of volume contest with the two men on our left. Worst of all, not only were both tables boring, but they finished their food and drinks and stayed, braying and yapping, long afterwards. Ugh. Our server was Maya, who was adorable, very cheerful and friendly. Unfortunately, my lunch order was either lost or given to someone else. My mother's blueberry bread and coffee arrived fairly quickly, but 20 or 25 minutes later, my sandwich was still missing. Fortunately, Maddy came to check on us, and when I told her that I hadn't gotten my sandwich, she went to find out what happened to it, and then came back to tell us that it was on the way, and that she took it off the bill. That was really nice!! When the sandwich finally arrived, it was delicious. Perfectly grilled and totally yummy. The side salad was fresh and crisp, dressed in a lemon vinaigrette. My mother really enjoyed her blueberry bread and coffee. It's a very cute place inside, too. I would definitely go back if I were in the neighborhood. Brunch is served all day! And the veggie burger, my original choice, must be amazing, because it was sold out.

Yelp
We visited here on a Sunday for lunch as a group of 4 and were able to get seated quickly, with the restaurant being mostly full. The restaurant itself is very cute and eclectic, with lots of unique decorations and loud music. I ended up ordering their chicken and waffles, which took a bit long to arrive. It was good but slightly dry and not too warm... but the maple butter served on top somewhat made up for it. After eating and once the restaurant mostly cleared out, it took awhile for us to flag down our server to give us our check which was a bit frustrating. Still, I think this is a pretty average dining experience in Manhattan in a pretty convenient location.
google avatar

Kann T.

Yelp
The food is good. Exactly what I expected. The sweet potato fries is great. The service is okay, the table wasn't clean before I sat down. The WiFi here is great according to the person sitting next to us.
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
Delicious vegan and omnivore options. We went for brunch and everything we ordered was delicious! Fun atmosphere. The "no egg" was yummy and I liked it better than just egg.
google avatar

Lena A.

Yelp
Delicious food! Drinks are incredible too. I enjoyed sitting at the bar but I have been seated at a table. Chicken sandwich is so perfect. Nice fry on the chicken the kale and cabbage Cole slaw is different and bright. Would also suggest the vegan burger it is big enough to share if you're not entirely famished. I enjoyed a salad instead of French fries that was a delicious medley of greens with tomato cucumber and bell pepper with a tangy vinaigrette that complemented not only the acidity of lettuce but a phenomenal pairing with the slaw on the sandwich. Brava

Yelp
Arriving at 11 on a Wednesday filled with plans to go to Google Chelsea I needed a drink and a breakfast bowl. They told me to sit anywhere. Cool and breezy windows open and AC and a 98 degree day it was quite comfortable. Work friendly thank god with low music and plenty of space to setup my laptop and check in on Slack and berate my team for the day for not doing enough and to move faster to ship the things. The food was healthy and honest and the 3 frozen margaritas were as well.

W C.

Yelp
Breakfast was fire, staff was on point. We waited like 20 minutes for a table pretty solid for a Saturday
google avatar

Yaqi Y.

Yelp
Food is decent, nothing crazy to rave about. Really came for the HH drinks - beers $4, wine $6, and certain cocktail $7. The food HH options was okay, ordered cheese dip with tomato soup and artichoke dip. I wouldn't order the cheese dip since it's just grilled cheese sandwich bites with tomato soup. The wings looked good, maybe next time. Then, ordered burger with salad which the waitress didn't ask how I want it done so it was too dry. I would still recommend this place for HH drinks and maybe try other dishes.
google avatar

Pam E.

Yelp
We ordered the tofu bites, the chicken pot pie soup and the BLT. The tofu bites were just ok. They could have used a little more flavor. The chicken pot pie soup was really good and so was the BLT.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
Though the establishment was cute...the wait for someone to speak to us was well undetermined because after about 20 minutes my boyfriend and I left and went to elsewhere. The wait staff made eye contact with me repeatedly and still didn't even bother to say hey I'll be with you guys in just a few minutes. Plus the water we received when we were sat at the table tasted like warm sink water. We didn't even go at a busy time it was about 2:30pm.
google avatar

Midori G.

Yelp
Convenient place to gather in a group! We went out on a Saturday w 6 and were able to sit outside immediately. (They have heaters at each table outside.) We weren't too hungry so my bf and I split the avocado hummus grain bowl. It was so savory, I couldn't believe it was vegan! The meat-eaters in our group also enjoyed their meals!
google avatar

Nora F.

Yelp
Loud music! Loud noise! Too loud that we couldn't really hear most of our conversations. We're invited for brunch on Saturday. Like most restaurants in NY, the place serves my favorites! Avocado toast! So that's what I ordered, and I liked it! My toast was served with a side salad and poached eggs. Even Hubby's French toast was awesome because they threw in some slices of avocado, but they don't use Challah bread though. Good that we have avocados all around because we need to lose some weight. I had my unsweetened iced tea, and that made me happy-go-lucky!

Yelp
The Grey Dog has a cute eclectic vibe and appears to be quite popular with multiple locations. My friend and I chose it as our last meal before leaving NYC and were highly disappointed. We were seated inside after a short wait. But the waiting didn't stop there. We put in our order and waited a very long time for the food, probably close to 25 minutes for a simple breakfast. Our server had no personality, literally acted like she didn't want to be there, never came back aside from taking our order and dropping off our food, and was on her phone in the corner most of the time. We even had to get up to ask her for the check. In addition, we both found the food to be disgusting. It had no flavor and we each had to add salt to our dishes multiple times. I ordered the Breakfast Bowl, a healthy option that comes with avocado hummus, farro, mushrooms, broccolini, sweet potato and an egg. Everything in the bowl was extremely dry, you can even see it in the photo. My friend went with the B.L.A.T which still needed salt even with the bacon. I'm truly wondering what happened, and I didn't even finish my plate which is pretty much unheard of for me.

Yelp
Wow what an amazing place! We came here for brunch and absolutely loved it! They have great happy hour options as well although we did not participe! The breakfast bowl and bottomless coffee option was what I had and no complaints! Their sweet potato fries are absolutely amazing as well. The whole ambiance is a vibe and super adorable. They also have pride flags all over the place which who doesn't love that! Service was super nice and on point with refilling our cofffees! Highly recommend coming here!

Yelp
Fabulous wait staff, delicious food, great menu selection, and the vibe is fantastic. I had a wonderful time with my daughter.

Yelp
Everything was great. We were fortunate enough to get seated in a reasonable time in a busy Sunday. Cozy corner seating, our server was friendly and took our order timely despite being busy. Food was great, and the vibe was just right. Will be our go to whenever we visit our son at school.

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed at our brunch here, especially after reading all the raving reviews here. - Reservations aren't available for brunch. My friend and I waited about 35 mins for a table on Sunday at noon. - Most of the staff didn't wear masks. I get that we are all vaccinated, but the staff should continue to keep the masks on just for their own sake. - The portion for the two breakfast items we ordered was relatively small (Grey Dog's breakfast and avocado toast). - Grey Dog's breakfast was...a real disappointment. There was nothing special about this dish, the dish contained two eggs, mixed greens, two tiny sausage patties, and French toast. It might sound a lot, but I finished everything, and I even had breakfast at 10 am that day. Maybe I missed the real draw here, but the Grey Dog's breakfast was recommended by the waitress. I.will sadly skip this establishment and stop by Daily Provisions instead.
