2019 Oscar and Golden Globes Films with London Restaurant Locations | Eater London
"The surprise Golden Globes best picture, which has its star, Rami Malek, shortlisted for best actor at the Oscars for his role as Freddie Mercury, includes a surprise filming location. The Griffin pub is a trad-Brit sort of joint near Brentford football club, with a menu including fish and chips, burgers and sausage and mash. Though supper club offerings are a cut above, include ‘locally-sourced pigeon’ lobster and osso bucco, the decor is so steeped in early 1980s nostalgia — all red and yellow carpets, oak-wood-panels and a stack of trophies teeming next to the darts board — that it was the perfect location for a cameo. For a scene set in 1985, over 100 pub-goers, all crammed in, watch Queen play at Live Aid." - Sophie Wilkinson
A surprise find on my Brentford pub crawl. Excellent locals pub with a few Fuller's cask offerings. Also has a couple of pub cats, so bonus points!

It's been a few years now since being in this part of London and what a gem of a find, still as a pub, should be.
London pride on draft was spot on and nice to be back drinking it.
Had the haddock and chips and could not fault.
Staff and regulars friendly. Well, worth a visit. i will again when back in the area.

My son and I always pop in on the way to watch the Bees at the Gtech.
Service with a smile. A traditional, friendly, town pub, you can always have a chat. A complete selection of beers, ales, etc that you would expect in a Fullers pub. The, match day, grill food served in the garden, is spot on... Do it , go for it, have the Premier... "Griffin Burger"!

We spent a couple of really enjoyable evenings at The Griffin while staying at the nearby Premier Inn. Staff really welcoming and a very warm and cosy pub to spend a few hours. Very children friendly and a really good pint of London Pride. Would recommend highly to anyone staying in the nearby hotels looking for traditional and welcoming pub.

Took a booking for 16 on a Tuesday night. Restaurant area was cozy, the folks there were attentive and super friendly and considering they were cooking for so many people at once, the food came out fresh, together and delicious. Would recommend. Price per head including a few drinks each, food is value for money.

We always have a fantastic time at the Griffin - and our annual Xmas jumper party is the highlight of our year! The staff go above and beyond, the food is utterly incredible and the atmosphere gorgeous. This is definitely our favourite pub! Thank you Griffin Team!

A very friendly welcome at this traditional pub. We enjoyed the drink and food and the prices were decent for 'down south'. I'd recommend the Thai curry and my husband really enjoyed the Chicken Kiev.

Yelp
We went without reservation, at 5pm. Even though they were out of Sunday Roast, the dinner was great. Burgers, Pork Chop and Haggis Pie. The Haggis Pie was outstanding! Lovely crowd, friendly and welcoming. We will certainly go back before we leave London. It has always been my tendency to stay out from city centers, and our stay in Brentford has been wonderful so far.

Yelp
Very homeish, friendly atmosphere. Very good ribay steak with chips, butter and tomatoes. Two good TVsets show football. When we come to the pub, two football matches were shown. We asked to watch Deportivo-RealMadrid, and the local personnel very galantly put a table and chairs in the centre of the pub - in such way that we could watch our football match with a comfortable angle. Service here is absolutely convenience. And there was not even for a minute any feeling that we are aliens or novices here. All people including personnel and clients were very polite and friendly.

Yelp
The best pub in Brentford. The tennants Ralph and Sue have been there for over 13 years now and have created a really good vibe at the Griffin. Griffin Park football ground is the only football ground in the world with a pub on each corner and given that there are 25 pubs within 1.5 square miles, they have consistantly adapted to the changing times (smoking ban etc) and have remained as the choice for most people for a drink in the evening. The award winning beer garden is an oasis in the summer.
By the way, Green Street, the film about an American football hooligan in London, was filmed at The Griffin.

Yelp
Classic London Pub with great fish n chips. Order your peas whole, not smashed. Smashed peas are gross.

Yelp
Amazing Sunday Lunch, every dish served to our group of five people was delicious. Roast lamb & roast chicken cooked to perfection and the accompanying sides were equally fab. I always look forward to coming to this pub when visiting from Los Angeles, fortunately it is my friend's local. My (British) husband really looks forward to a proper Sunday Lunch on trips back to England, he thoroughly enjoyed The Griffin, using "excellent" to describe his meal (he does not use that word lightly ;) Super, warm, and welcoming place. Thank you to Clare for looking after us! Look forward to our next visit.

Yelp
My wife and I took a trip to Europe a few weeks ago and one of our stops along the way was here at The Griffin pub in Brentford, we made the small detour to Brentford specifically for The Griffin. One our favorite movies was filmed in the pub. Everything from the feelings you get when you walk in, to the food and the staff was far more than we expected. I highly recommend the The Griffin Pub to anyone with a sense of class.
Don't bother coming to London if you don't go to The Griffin Pub in Brentford.

Yelp
One of the four pubs on each corner of Brentford's Griffin Park, The Griffin is a solid old-school boozer with men in the corner with pints of bitter, sport on the big screen and pork scratchings behind the bar. If you like your football and like your pubs to be like pubs used to be (I can only imagine this would have been filled with smoke pre-ban), then the Griffin will be right up your street. Solid, friendly and fun and perfect for a pre or post-match pint after watching the Bees.
