We had a nice dinner in this local. Great cocktails. The service was friendly and attentive. Good food quality. The French onion soup was excellent. The tuna Tatar was tasty. The lamp care was exceptional and on point with the temperature. Great atmosphere with an amazing few over the Harbour to see the sunset.

The Grill at Forty 1° North on Thames Street in Newport is amazing. It’s like another home where they treat us like family. The 2025 Chef, Sue is incredible. If you have been there recently, return and if you haven’t give them another shot this year because it’s the best, most delicious dining experience it’s been in years! The service is top notch, drinks are fabulous, & food is better than years past. There are some new menu items like the redesigned chowder that are absolutely decadent. The clams over spaghetti is a new creamy dreamy dish. The lobster roll was one of the best my friends had ever had. They’re about to release their spring menu and we can’t wait to go back to try everything. The managers and staff are a combination of seasoned professionals who have worked on the island for years and seasonal employees who hold hospitality near, and dear will be added for the busy summer months. We also returned for brunch drinks the next day which were amazing! This location is a hidden gem in Newport for parties of 11+ also. They have an awesome family style prefix dining menu that is sure to satisfy everyone. There are plenty of meat and vegetable options. We’ve held these on the dock in the summer several times and were so satisfied With the entire experiences.

A wonderful dining experience at the Grill at 41 North in downtown Newport. This occasion was particularly special as our friend was returning to Taiwan. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the Food and Beverage Manager, Yahaira. She is a delightful young lady—sweet, kind, and friendly, yet very professional. She ensured we had a great table overlooking the water, and I must say, the sunset was incredible! Even if you're not dining, it's worth a visit for the view. There are plenty of spaces to relax, such as the Oval Bar or Library Bar. The fireplace adds a lovely touch of comfort and coziness. When we sat down, our attentive server, Cristian, welcomed us. He is a talented young man who manages both the dining room and the bar, showcasing impressive skills. The food was superb! The new Executive Chef, Alia Asher, even came out to greet us and introduce herself. The dishes were delicious and beautifully presented, with amazing flavors. To start, we chose the bread service and Caviar Osetra. Unlike many places that serve a ‘cheap version’ of caviar with chips, here it was served in a classic way with homemade Bellinis—truly impressive! For our next course, we had smoked salmon (which also came with homemade Bellinis), tuna tartare (freshly made, topped with a delightful aioli, and accompanied by homemade wonton chips), oysters (served with a special crushed ice mignonette), and a kale salad (the best salad in town so far!). For our entrées, Chef Alia recommended her favorite: the Tomahawk steak, perfectly sliced and served with bone marrow. We also enjoyed scallops and a whole steamed lobster. The pacing of the meal was perfect; we never felt rushed and could savor every bite. We started with cocktails and then moved to an exceptional selection of wines. Overall, this was an unforgettable experience! We are looking forward to see new summer menu created by this very talented Chef! Thank you!

When we were contacted a week before to confirm our reservation, wwe were asked if we would be ordering the prefixe Christmas menu. “What men?,” I asked. There was nothing advertised or in their website to indicate they had one, let alone what it was. When we arrived for dinner, before we even sat down, we were asked what we wanted to drink. ?? We were the. presented with only their usual menu. There was no supplement about the xmas menu and the server didn’t offer it to us. I had to ask before a separate card was presented to us. Our server was very sweet but the whole vibe of the restaurant was just off. And that was before we saw the mouse under another table. We left this pricey disappointment. Come on 41, you can do better. I happen to know you can.

The Grill at Forty 1° North in Newport is a gem! The food is fresh and full of flavor, with creative dishes that feel both upscale and approachable. The cocktails are just as impressive—thoughtfully crafted and perfect for any occasion. Add in the stunning waterfront views, and it’s the kind of spot you’ll want to come back to again and again.

Beautiful dock restaurant with a covered pavilion! The cocktail was refreshing and the champagne was bubbly. Looking out at the water and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The bartender was absolutely the best, I will definitely visit on my next trip to New Port!!!! The hostess was very warm and welcoming, the food was great as well!!! I highly recommend you try!!!

Always a great experience at the grill! The food was great, and the service over the top. Our family and friends enjoyed the privacy of the wine room. And our furry boy Cookie was made comfortable with us. Nice to enjoy a dog friendly restaurant on our yearly trip to Newport.

MICE RUNNING AROUND! We went there to celebrate a graduation. After we finished our entries we saw 2 mice running around the dining room of the restaurant during our dinner. We told our server who informed the manager. The manager was going to put in a work order but did not show up at our table or attempt to speak with us or at least pretend to be sorry about the incident. The food was ok. Perhaps the mice ate all the proper seasoning. The only positive thing was that our server was good.

Kind of surprised by the low score for this place. I went for dinner when I was passing through town and thought the outdoor vibe was good, no complaints on the food, and staff was friendly. A good spot for dinner at sunset.

Came during Newports Restaurant week, they had an amazing deal going on. A 3 course dinner for just $45. Wine bottles at half price. What a steal. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. The perfect setting for a romantic night out or a casual get together with the gals. Order a drink at the bar and enjoy it by the fireplace. Only thing negative I have to say is that I wish they didn't run out of the one option I had originally ordered from the pre fix menu but the harvest risotto I got in its place was rich, creamy and full of flavor. Definitely would come back

Location, location, location! The views from the outside deck are great and it's definitely the place to dine when the weather permits.

Really really good food, idk why the ratings are low here it was genuinely a great experience

Went for a rare vacation breakfast, looking forward to eggs Benedict and a Bloody Mary. Discovered they don't have a bartender until 11 AM! Food was fair, and overpriced for what it was. Would not recommend it.

Yacht a view! This is a beautiful lunch spot located on the water in Newport, RI. We feasted on classic lobster rolls, perfectly crispy fries and mildly sweet coleslaw (see photo). Yuuummmm! We walked from our hotel as parking is very limited. I made a reservation online a couple of weeks in advance. We arrived 30 minutes early and the kind, agreeable hostess graciously let us pick our table. We chose a shaded one near the water with beautiful views of yachts and sailboats (see photo). The service was friendly enough and our lunch was served promptly - thank goodness as we were hungry. Cheers!

We visited Newport for the weekend and walked in as a party of five. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, Delvina, and our server, Srdan, was fantastic from start to finish. Midway through our meal, the Director of Restaurants, Norman, stopped by to introduce himself. What an incredible touch--he personally greeted every table, which we absolutely loved. Norman's charm and hospitality truly stood out. The food was amazing, service was a solid 5 stars, the ambiance was 5 stars, and Norman deserves 6 stars! We can't wait to come back for more.

The views are amazing, but dinner was underwhelming. Due to a private event, we were seated on the back patio where they had all the tent sides up even though it was low 40s. When we asked the waitstaff to light the heaters it seemed like a huge inconvenience to them. In fact, serving us at all seemed like an inconvenience and we barely saw our waiter. We shared waitstaff and a bar with the private event meaning that restaurant patrons were waiting 30-40 minutes for drinks. Really unorganized and unprofessional. The food was overpriced, cold, and small. The pictures don't do it justice but the portion sizes were laughable for the price of the meal. We waited so long for our food and for it to come out freezing cold was unacceptable. Too bad our waiter never came back for us to send it back. We will not be back. I wouldn't recommend this place for anything other than a drink with a pretty view.

TLDR: Very 'Meh' food with 'exquisite' prices. Came here for a graduation dinner with my fiance. Made a reservation, its not busy enough to need one. Wait staff is ok, kind, but a little slow. $5 bread service...lol Food: -Lobster Rissoto: 3/5 - Flavor is ok, a little too much citrus at the time, it didn't really play well with the risotto part. But the lobster was good. -Clam Chowder: 4/5- Very good flavor, the bowl it comes in is comically large for the portion size. -Bucatini Carbonara: 2/5- I was very impressed with this dish...because it was very bland. I don't know how one makes a Carbonara and it comes out requiring salt. I thought it was inpossible to make a carbonara that needs more salt.

Stopped by here for a quick drink during the day, and was pleasantly surprised by the views. We sat at the outside bar, and I loved how open and airy the deck felt. Very sunny day, rays shining off the ocean water, and yachts in every direction; the shade and the breeze were just the thing we needed for a break from the summer heat. I ordered a glass of wine, and was pleasantly surprised by the hefty pour. I did not try any of the food, so no comment on that, but looked like there was a wide variety available on the menu. I would return for drinks another day!!

Very good spot for dinner near the waterfront in Newport. We had three courses of food. The salad was great as was the smoked salmon appetizer. The Rack of Lamb and NY Strip were so good we forgot to take photos of them. Deserts were excellent, especially the Creme Brûlée.

The greeters and servers were very nice but the kitchen needs help. The filet was order medium and came over cooked and cut in three before served. It as super dry inside and had to be sent back. The second time was only slightly better. The fish was over cooked. Everything is over priced and a la cart. If you're going to charge so much money, at least cook the meal correctly. The vast we and ambiance were nice.

We came here primarily because dogs are allowed. The restaurant is on a pier, enclosed on the top by a giant roofed pergola, which was great because it was raining. There are heaters and speakers at regular intervals in the ceiling so it was toasty warm . Music was a little too loud for the upscale ambience they are going for. Do you want to be a fun waterfront bar or do you want to be a fancy waterfront restaurant that charges $42 for a 4 oz piece of tuna with no sides? Pick a lane. Once we got over the sticker shock, we did enjoy our meal. The server was great, the tuna was exquisite and the lobster risotto was pretty good, if a little too salty/risotto not quite the right texture. The table side of fries for the table was an enormous serving. The coconut lemon tart for dessert was yummy. The bill for two was $180. So while the food is very good, be prepared to pay a premium for the location.

Was quite possibly the best meal I have had in quite some time. We were a few days without power so we checked into a hotel in Newport and joined our friends who were staying at 41 North for dinner. Since none of us had running water, flushable toilets nor a hot meal in a few days, we decided to splurge and made reservations at the Grill. From the moment we walked in, we knew this was going to be an incredible experience. From the dimly lit dining room to the ocean views to the increible cocktails and menu... we were in heaven. The service was hands down 5 stars. They checked in on us, coursed out our meal appropriately and gave us the attention we needed but the space we desired. Here is a run down of the meal and in order as they hit the table. Every single dish was 5 stars and cooked perfectly. Everything is served a la cart so we got a bunch of everything and we enjoyed it all family style. Starters Colossal Shrimp Cocktail Half Maine Lobster Appetizers Crispy Calamari - shishito peppers, lemon aioli Scallops - country ham, mustard beurre blanc, verjus raisins, cauliflower Baby Gem Lettuce - buttermilk dressing, smoked bacon, blue cheese Entrèe Niman Ranch Pork Chop - pepperonata, crisp yukon gold potatoes Painted Hills Ribeye Steak 16 oz. Double Cut Lamb Chops 36 oz. 45 day Dry Aged Prime Porterhouse Sides Mushrooms and Cippolini Onions French Fries Mashed Potatoes Creamed Spinach Grilled Corn Sauces Brandy Peppercorn Horseradish Sauce Chimichurri Dessert Chocolate Ganache S'mores Cake toasted marshmallow fluff, graham crumble, caramel Coconut Lemon Tart blueberry puree, candied lemon Selection of Gelato and Sorbet seasonal berries Overall, the ENTIRE experience was 5 stars and we so so appreciated the night out. It was an absolutely incredible meal and one we will remember for sure!

Great ambiance and place for fine dining and date night in Newport. Prob one of the most expensive places I've dined in so far. Firstly, we walked without making a reservation but knew they had tables available on open table. The hostess initially said they were fully reserved for the night even though there were empty seats everywhere. Then we told her that we knew there were open slots on open table. She then said there was one available in ten mins. She made the reservation for us to come back in ten mins, again even though there were only 2 people dining there. Anyways we came back after having a drink and got seated. Food was Aok. Got the calamari and NY strip steak. Calamari was good but the sauce was Aok. The steak was alright as well, nothing great about it or the price we paid for it. The sides are 12$ and you have to pay an extra 6$ for the sauce. Overall the experience was average. Again it's a good place for date night or if you want to splurge money and impress your friends in Newport but the food is definitely not worth the price you pay.

Went here for Newport Spring Restaurant Week with two of my pals (thank goodness for the RW menu.. this place is PRICY and we are three twentysomething millennial gals on a budget!), and had a lovely time! Forty 1 North is a gorgeous hotel / restaurant, with billion dollar views of the ocean and fancy schmancy mega yachts (though I do recommend visiting before those pull in for the summer, as the aforementioned billion dollar view is then obscured..). This is a great place to go for a special meal or memorable night out, and even though I haven't been in a while, it was just as good as I remember it. There were many yummy choices available on the Restaurant Week menu - $50 per person for three courses - and it was tough to decide! I started with the Tuna Tartare appetizer, which was a decent sized portion. I actually couldn't even finish it! It tasted like a spicy tuna sushi roll sans rice, and was served with wonton crisps and marinated cucumber. I could see myself coming here and ordering this if I feel like treating myself to a light lunch later in the warmer months. My favorite course was my entree, which was a Smoked Eggplant platter. In addition to the perfectly flavorful eggplant, the plate also featured roasted red peppers, shishito peppers, fennel, and crispy quinoa-chickpea fritters that tasted like falafel, only better. Whoever said the vegetarian option was the lesser choice seriously hasn't tried the Smoked Eggplant at Forty 1 North. The dessert, though, was the big letdown. I peeked at the menu before coming because I wanted to see what was on tap for dinner, and was stoked when I saw that Coconut Cake was offered as a dessert option. However, what arrived at the table was definitely NOT coconut cake. No frosting. No shaved coconut flakes. Big sad trombone noises all around. If the menu billed the dessert as a citrus or coconut pound cake or olive oil cake, it would have been a much more accurate depiction, and it's not that I didn't like the cake, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. My friends got the Chocolate Ganache Cake and the Creme Brulee, and those looked a lot better. There's always next time! That being said, the service was excellent and everyone that took care of us was phenomenal. From the front desk agent that greeted us as we arrived, to the bartender, who expertly prepared tasty Red Sangria and Aperol Spritzes for us, to our server, who patiently explained the various dishes on offer for the Restaurant Week menu, everything was top notch. You definitely get what you pay for at Forty 1 North, and it's more than worth the price tag.

I booked here because last week, there weren't many places left to reserve for dinner. When I made the reservation, I clicked standard seating not outdoor seating and it said outdoor was unavailable, which was fine because we wanted inside. I called earlier in the day to change the reservation to later and this was no problem. When we got there, we were seated outside and were told there was an indoor party. This was a surprise and I should have been made aware of this. It was nasty out, cold, and wet. We should have been notified that there was a party inside and we would no longer be able to sit inside. If we knew we would be outside we would have dressed accordingly, we also were the fanciest dressed, no one adheres to dress code - people were there in short denim shorts and sneakers. Onto the food, the "complimentary" fried calamari was average and nothing special. The prices are so high and you don't get a side included. Very overpriced and frankly, nervy. All the other food was very good. We ordered the tuna steak - cooked perfectly, the squid ink linguini, the rib eye steak, and the half roasted chicken. We ordered a side salad which was a nice size portion and creamed spinach. My steak did come out medium well after asking for medium rare. When paying $56 for a piece of meat, it should be cooked perfectly. The Maitre'd / manager quickly (under 5 min) brought out another steak which was cooked perfectly. For drinks we ordered the margarita, the vinho verde, and rose. The vinho verde may be my new favorite wine. We aren't sure if we would be back but if you go on a nice night, sitting outside isn't an issue and would probably be beautiful.

BRUNCH REVIEW: The short: I wouldn't recommend this spot for food. Come for a drink and enjoy the view that way. This spot is awesome in an Instagram-ably trendy kind of way but the food isn't worth the money. The longer: we came with a party of 7 for Sunday brunch and had a great table right on the water. Our waitress was rude and had zero personality. It took her 30 minutes to take our order. We shared sides of sweet potatoes, asparagus & bacon for the table. I ordered a salad with salmon-- and the salad was brought to the table with no salmon. The waitress never acknowledged or apologized for the mistake (the manager did deliver it and take the salmon off the bill- which was nice). The food was good, but not in correlation with the prices. We paid around $400 for brunch, and only had one cocktail. Definitely skip the food, and come for the views, cool couches & cocktails.

Second time my husband and I dined here and we had yet another unbelievable meal for Mothers Day. This time we brought along our 18 month old that restaurant staff happily accommodated. Everything from the crab cakes to the squid ink pasta with fresh seafood, to the perfectly cooked prime rib was out of this world. I'm still dreaming of the pasta. The cheesecake dessert was fantastic. Love the wine list, unique finds. Do yourself a favor and stay the night, it's such a treat. No details are missed.

You know I hate to do this but I really was not a fan of this place.. The place itself is gorgeous, inside and amazing outdoor views. That is not something that will keep you coming back as its Newport and views like this you are able to find everywhere! More importantly food was just okay and looked better than it tasted. Service could have been better as our waitress didn't seem all there. This was def a miss for me and would consider coming back strictly for drinks and the views.

This restaurant is very welcoming with a nice modern decor with a nice oval bar. The menu is pricey, but it is what you expect for a great chef on the water in Newport. The bar menu prices were quite shocking to say the least. Cocktails range from $16 to $21 and your average beers were $8 each. Wine prices were not too bad, starting at $14. We went to the Fermentation class on Wednesday at 6:30, which they do every Wednesday night for $35 per person. They have five small plates that pair with white and red wines. The food was absolutely amazing and the wines paired well with each dish. The wine wasn't my favorite when you tried it without the food, but when complimented with the dish, it was great. Be prepared to eat something two hours later or finish off the night with a dinner in Newport. I wasn't hungry when I left, but an I needed to eat something later. The staff at the event were all friendly and informative. Great atmosphere for a couple or a first date. I am anxious to try their 28 day aged NY strip.

This used to be the best restaurant in Newport, we have been coming for 6 years. It was our go to place, for the view, the service and the awesome food. It has gone down hill, awful food and terrible service. The place was empty on Father's Day for a reason, before you could not get a table. If they don't pivot quickly, it will be closed or only get customers staying at the hotel.

A very high expectation dashed quickly. A strange 20$ parking fee even though they didn't have valet. A very poor showing of service for a restaurant that likes to think highly of their quality. The manager was a pompous ass, to be nice. Received a call, email and text to make sure I knew of the 25$/person fee if the reservation was canceled. The bottle of red I ordered was plopped in front of us, no pour, tase or care to ask if the $100+ bottle was good to go...Never had that happen before. Presentation of food was disappointing. On the other hand, the salmon, tuna, and swordfish were phenomenal!!! The chef(s) is a master of her/his craft. I will not return to this restaurant, it is not the caliber of service that I would expect. It's sad because the food was so tasty. The floor manager should be replaced. I wish I asked for his name before I left.

Joe is a bartending wizard/angel. He made my dirty martini perfectly, almost as if he was perfecting his craft while still a toddler. The rum and coke was delectable, and he pours wine with a magnificent finesse seen only in Olympic gymnasts with a perfect landing. Thank you Joe for your hospitality and incredible bar wisdom.

This restaurant is phenomenal. You sit right in the pier with all the yachts right on the water. We started with bread and smoked salmon- both delicious. I ordered the Squid Ink Spaghetti- which at first I was a bit apprehensive about but couldn't have been more wrong about. It was amazing. The crab, calamari and shrimp were perfected cooked and seasoned. The pasta was black and buttery- it was both pretty and delicious. I highly recommend coming to the Grill at Forty 1 North!

So...at first glance I was really excited to eat here because of the awesome looking menu. It was a party of eight and we were seated really quickly in a semi-private room across from the bar. We first ordered rows of drinks which were all perfectly made. I had the old fashioned with makers, which was a bit on the sweeter side, but still very good. A few others got wine off of their extensive wine list. For my appetizer I had the smoked salmon which came with a few pieces of bread, radish, and cucumber. Easily, a five out of five. For my main a few of us split the porterhouse and got mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and Brussels sprouts as sides. All the sides were awesome. The steak on the other hand was over cooked to burnt. We ordered it medium-rare and a lot of the edge pieces were burnt, the rest was either well done or medium-well. Not somewhere I would trust or recommend getting steak from.

Arguably the worst restaurant experience I have had when factoring in pricing and expectations. We should have listened to the reviews on here about the service before booking a Saturday night reservation. The location is amazing but that it quite literally it. The server we had did not care at all. Not only about us but the people who sat next to us who were not greeted for 30 mins even after going up to the hostess 2x. He never checked in -- when he made numerous mistakes and forgot things he laughed it off and did not apologize. All of this for the most expensive place in town. All of this could have been spared by some solid food and drinks.... Some flavorless chicken, cold sides and bland pasta to top it off. Our Mai tais were bad too. I'm sure there were better menu options so this might not be represitivr of the food as a whole -- however if you are looking for a nice place to for a date . Don't come here. The staff does not care. What a waste of a nice spot on the water. What a shame.

Had a wonderful lunch here with my family. Loretta, our server, was absolutely wonderful and very attentive to us as we sat outside overlooking the marina! Beautiful views, great burgers and excellent drinks. We can't thank Loretta enough for our wonderful experience here!

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon for lunch at 1pm as my friend and I waited for our room to be ready at the hotel. We went outside and said to the two hostesses we'd like to sit for lunch. One rudely said "the bar is full..." though we saw plenty of open tables and lounge seating. We told her we would seat ourselves in the lounge chairs. Realizing we didn't have menus, I went up to the hostess stand and seeing a stack of menus, asked for one. The hostess told me to get one from the bar. Meanwhile, throughout our lunch, we saw her seating other guests on the patio and giving them menus. The food was mediocre and overpriced. My friend had to send her burger back twice for being undercooked and then settled on shrimp cocktail. We were advised by other guests that the lobster roll wasn't good. We'd already made a previous dinner reservation for the restaurant so we came back again. Dinner was a better experience. The servers and bartenders were lovely, the managers were apologetic. The two blonde hostesses should be fired. They looked miserable and acted like it too. Come for the drinks and view and get food elsewhere.

This review is solely based on lunch during Restaurant Week. It was a rainy weekday and the place was pretty empty except for a couple of people at the bar. I was meeting with a group of fellow military spouses and was greeted as soon as I walked it and quickly picked up any drink orders as we were waiting for the rest of our group by the fireplace. I decided to try out the Marisa Tomei; it was a like a fruity Cosmopolitan but on the stronger side, great drink! Once all in our group arrived, we were seated. There were 2 options for the first course. 3 choices for the main course, and just one for the dessert. I went with the mushroom soup for the first course, and the salmon rillettes for the second; the dessert was something called Pavlova. The mushroom soup was very creamy and you can taste the mushroom flavor, and I liked the the dollop of creme fraiche and chives to round out the flavor. The rillettes are similar to pâté and came with small potato pancakes and a side of pickled onions; the salmon was really tasty and the pickled onions were a nice compliment. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from dessert since I've never had pavlova before; I'm usually not a fan of meringue but it went well with the kiwi/pinapple salad and bed of cream. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. No complaints on the service and was happy with my experience. Just might swing by again for another Marisa Tomei during the summer!

It's very pricey. And we would have been very angry if the food was not good. But it was excellent. I had the black ink spaghetti and it was amazing. My husband had the tuna steak and he loved it. The setting is absolutely beautiful. We sat outside and it was lovely. No issues at all with the service.

Perfect spot for a classy/fancy dinner in Newport. The Berkshire pork chop was beyond delicious, up there with the best pork chops I've ever had. We have the calamari appetizer which was also delicious.

Definitely on the pricey side, but you're in Newport- right on the water...and the patio is stunning. I only enjoyed late night snacks and cocktails, so I can't comment on the meals, but if you want to feel like a posh princess, this is the place for you! They were more than happy to allow my dog on the patio as well!

I have a home in Newport and have been to pretty much every restaurant in town and the surrounding area and this was the most disappointing experience I have had in the 15 years since I moved here. This is one of the most expensive restaurants in Newport, which is fine, but with that should come great food and exceptional service. There was an event indoors that evening so we were forced outside to the tent, which we were not notified about, even with reservations, in mid October. We were also put at a hightop table against the plastic tent, like many others, and it was cold, even with the randomly placed heating lamps 20 feet away. Instantly uncomfortable and they just didn't care about us. We got the $145 Porterhouse for 2. It was decent, but not great, and the portion was pretty small relative to the price. They also charge $6 for each sauce you would like with your steak, which just seemed really petty to me. When you're paying $145 for a steak, you shouldn't have to pay $6 or more for the sauce to put on it. But it was the service that was truly awful. The waiters and waitresses are young and inexperienced and were trying to do the best they could, even if poorly, but it was the Maitre D who had an attitude that seemed to rub people the wrong way, even for the few seconds each paying client came and went. I even overheard people at the bar saying that he was unprofessional and offensive. Average food, being treated poorly, and a Maitre D with an attitude, all at a high price, just doesn't work for me. Glad I tried The Grill at Forty 1 North but I won't be back, ever. There are so many other wonderful restaurants in Newport that truly appreciate my business and it is to those places that I will return over and over again. Going out for dinner with loved ones, family, or friends is a special moment during a busy week and it should be respected as such. They didn't.

We had a fantastic meal sitting outside watching the ships come in and out. The filet was excellent as well as the homemade French fries. Service was very good. Beautiful outside dining area.

Went for breakfast/brunch on an early Saturday. Food was good, potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside. Homemade sausage was tasty. Croissant was flaky and buttery. Nice view, street parking unless you are staying at the hotel. Price was high for what we usually are used to but suspect about right for a nice sit down restaurant in the area. Nice staff as well.

This was my first visit and I have to say it was a serious let down. The only reason it gets 3 stars is because the beautiful views, and they comped our drinks because we were unhappy. The disappointment started with the service. I felt like our server was put off by having to speak with us. It was as if we were inconveniencing her by coming to this establishment. She check on us maybe three times, once to take our order, once after our meals were delivered wrong (twice), and to bring the check. I understand it's busy and I don't really need anything just pretend like you care about having a job, a lot of people are suffering right now. Now the food: eh. I got the half chicken, which is literally a greased up dry half chicken. No sauce. Nothing. Just chicken and oil. My boyfriend got the tomahawk pork chop, which he enjoyed. Had to order sauce on the side, which he didn't care for. We got mashed potatoes for a side. Although they did bring us corn, green beans, and maybe rice...which all didn't look to hot anyway. The potatoes were good. For the amount of money this place charges it should be better. Overall wouldn't return.

Underwhelming food and service. OK the view is fabulous but a pasta dish for $28 that comes in a large bowl with less that a cup of pasta is robbery. Save your money and have one drink and leave. Even the alcohol is overly priced, but one glass of wine at $22 is not bad.

Came here for my 1 year anniversary and had very high hopes due to the recommendations from others as well as the excellent reviews. I was very disappointed at the end of our meal. The two hostess's that greated us were extremely nice and accommodating. They moved us to a table by the water with no issues and I really appreciated that. We got here for an early reservation at 4:30 so it was not busy at all. Once we sat the waitress asked for our drink order but didn't see her again for at least 25 minutes. The dirty martini I ordered was $19 and tasted like salty water with floating ice chips. Not a good start. The cavatelli pasta app we ordered was good but not amazing, it was also the same cost as a normal entree at most restaurants and was the size of a fine dining appetizer ($23). I ordered the lobster thermidor having very high hopes as it was $58. My GF ordered the salmon for $36 which was very small, and VERY salty, way too much seasoning. My lobster was hardly luke warm...honestly it was almost cold and I should have sent it back for that money that it cost but i was too embarrassed. I almost was not gonna mention it because things happen, but there was a long black hair in my lobster...and my GF is a brunette. The best part of the dinner was the side of mashed potatoes for $9. The lobster was just a small chicken lobster with some cream and a few mushrooms scattered in it. Really a BIG letdown for the amount of money we spent. I figured I would give the drinks one more shot and try a Manhattan but I should have quit while I was ahead. The overall experience was very poor and was so disappointed after being so excited to try this place. Don't waste your money, and go eat somewhere else that won't cost you $237 for two people.

Service was horrible. Our server Rob was more concerned about his appearance than servicing his tables. The surf and turf burger had absolutely no flavor and the drinks were nothing special either

Massive gap between what it wants to be and what it actually is. The location is really nice. Beautiful deck amongst the docks. But the experience is not so great. First, it is $20 to park so that you can spend an ungodly amount of money there. The menu looks good, but is expensive. Mains come with no sides. Expensive steaks require $6 sauces if you want them. I got a filet mignon, medium rare. I got a rare hunk of meat on a white plate in perhaps the least appetizing presentation I have ever seen. The quality of the meet was choice, not prime, and it had clearly been frozen. The wait staff is nice, but not well-trained. My friend's tuna was flavorless. The French fries were good. Wedge salad was a generous portion, with burnt bacon on a plat so narrow it was hard to get at it with a knife and fork. Make sure to put in your entire order up front, because the first time you see your waiter will be the last time, and the water guys can't help you. In sum, nice location, decent cocktails, terrible service, poor food, at a high price., If you must go there, just go for a drink. But please, eat somewhere else.

Stopped in for lunch during the boat show expecting that they would be very busy which they were. But in spite of that we got seated quickly with a nice view of the harbor. Ordered the shrimp cocktail which was presented beautifully in a glass bowl very nicely arranged. They were just as they were described in the menu, colossal! Sweet and tender but could have done with more cocktail sauce. I had the corn soup with chorizo and shrimp. It was flavorful and the spicy ness of the chorizo really set it apart from any other soup or chowder. Then had the 41 burger which came out cooked perfectly with aged Vermont cheddar cheese and caramelized onions. I'd have to say it was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. French fries were cooked nicely, very crispy. Again, not enough ketchup for the fries and hamburger both so had to ask for more. Soft drinks were ordered, mine with no ice as I don't do ice in any restaurant. Because of that I ended up with half a glass of soda at a cost of $5. (Ordered two glasses plus one refill, $15 total, that was a rip off)Which brings me to the downside of the restaurant, very pricey. Take your savings book with you as you'll need it to pay for lunch. Other than the sodas (that includes charges for refills) everything is in the high double digits. Given the location you expect to pay a high price but $96 (includes tip) was a little steep for lunch. Service was slow and you couldn't make eye contact with the servers as they all wore sunglasses. Being near the water all day I could see they would get eye strain from squinting all the time. Bottom line they get 4 stars for the burger but not for their prices.

I went with my wife and inlaws and my wife didn't want to sit on the deck as it was windy and a bit chilly. We mentioned it to the staff, and they immediately sat us inside even though it was apparent the inside was closed. We were the only people in there the entire time. Once seated, my mother in law wanted the AC turned down and my father in law wanted the music turned down. The staff accommodated both requests. The food was absolutely delicious. The pork belly app featured some of the most tender bellies I've had in years. And the seafood was outstanding, both the scallops and the sole were incredibly well prepared and not overdone. My inlaws shared the lamb and said they will go back for it soon. 5 stars all around.

The seafood was not fresh. To compensate, they overcooked it. We won't go back. You can get much better food at any chain restaurant. Prices were literally double what was expected, even with the view. Avoid.
