I made a reservation a full week in advance for 5:30 PM at The Grill on Third, a restaurant that presents itself as upscale and professional. My girlfriend and I arrived early at 5:25 PM because we had a scheduled comedy show afterward and needed to be on time. Despite having a confirmed reservation, we were told there were no tables available and that the restaurant was running a 30 to 45 minute wait because they had seated walk in guests ahead of reserved diners. At a restaurant of this caliber, that alone is unacceptable.
We were forced to sit at the bar while waiting for the table we should have had at 5:30. Once seated at the bar, we waited another 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us or asked what we wanted to drink. After finally receiving our first drink, we were eventually escorted to a table. From the moment we sat down, it took an additional 15 minutes for our server to greet us. At this point, the evening was already far behind schedule.
We placed our full order immediately at the server’s request to “get the food in,” yet our salads did not arrive until roughly 15 minutes later. By 6:45 PM, we still had not received our entrées. When I finally asked how much longer the food would take, I was told it would be at least another hour. That timeline is completely unreasonable, especially given that our reservation was for 5:30 and a standard dinner service should not exceed an hour under normal circumstances.
Because we had an event to attend, we were forced to leave without ever receiving our meals. Despite the excessive delays, the lack of communication, and the clear operational failure, nothing was comped. Not a drink. Not the salads. Not even an apology from management. In fact, no member of management ever came to speak with us at all.
This experience was deeply disappointing, particularly because I previously worked at this restaurant and expected far better. What was once a place that valued service and professionalism now appears disorganized, inattentive, and indifferent to the guest experience. I will not be returning, and it is genuinely sad to say that a restaurant I once respected has fallen so far below the standard it claims to uphold
