Earlier in the day, I saw a Facebook ad telling me they were serving Corned Beef and Cabbage special on St. Patrick's Day at Gentleman Jim's Restaurant located in Flower Hill where the Grille at Flower Hill used to be.
They have happy hour Monday to Friday from 3:00pm-7:00pm, which features complimentary pizza of the day with drink purchase as well as heavily discounted domestic beer ( both drafts and bottles), rail drinks, and shelf drinks.
In addition to happy hour, they offer discounts if you're a first responder (15% off your bill) and senior (10% off your bill). They also offer weekly specials including BOGO 1/2 off pizzas on Monday's, BOGO 1/2 off burgers on Tuesday's, 20% off pasta entrees on Wednesday's, kids eat free with one paying adult on Thursday's, and 10% off your bill for seniors on Sunday's.
When I arrived, I was sad to find out they ran out of their Corned Beef and Cabbage special. Since we were hungry, we decided to have dinner at Gentleman Jim's. Gentleman Jim's is a restaurant and bar that has a neighborhood vibe. They serve appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, and subs, pizza, pasta, entrees, and dessert.
Because the kitchen was closing soon, when our server Lisa H. came by, we put in our food and drink orders. I was a bit surprised that while we waited they did not offer anything to munch on - no chips and dip or bread and butter.
For drinks, we had two rounds of Angry Orchard, a shot of Tequila, and a shot of Jameson for each of us. Since my friend was allergic to seafood, I solo-ed the Crab Dip, which was served with toasted and sliced pretzel rolls. It was creamy, light, and quite tasty. Since my friend was on a keto diet, he had the California Salad, which consisted of romaine lettuce, tomato, egg, bacon, red onion, cucumber, and chargrilled chicken and served with a salad dressing of your choice (in this case, thousand island). Since I was craving corned beef, I had to get Kevin's Classic Reuben Sandwich. It consisted of lean, sliced, and stacked corned beef, sauerkraut, melted swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on a grilled, thick-cut, buttered rye bread and served with kettle chips. The corned beef was tender and flavorful. It's the best Reuben Sandwich I've had in the DMV.
