The Grind Cafe

I ordered a small cappuccino and a ham, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich. The barista was sitting in the back reading and begrudgingly got up to take my order. The cost was over $10 and gave me a percentage option for tip starting at 15%. The breakfast sandwich alone was $6. I was expecting great things. I ended up with an okay capp and a tasteless microwaved egg patty and some cheese sauce on an oversized and dry biscuit with no ham. And I tipped before getting served so I was very frustrated about this carelessness. I’ve had lunch here and it was better than this, but for my morning-pre-work starter it was a massive disappointment. The location and interior are of course nice and cozy with nice art, games and music. However, no outdoor seating in front is a bit of a detriment. I think there’s a back area but there is nothing to indicate this in the room and I’ve been here several times without ever thinking about or seeing it for myself. The menu is a little different since the last time I was here so I fear the sandwiches and lunch options may have fallen off as well, but I’ll try again on some Saturday when I’m feeling brave.

One of those favorite local coffee shops that are awesome to hit up, have a great drink, and get cozy with neighbors. I've only ever been there in the morning rush, and it can get crowded quickly, but everyone is usually super friendly and will share a table if possible. Staff are excellent at drinks and look like they know what they're doing for food prep.

My mom and I love coming here! Amazing coffee and lattes as well as a great selection of yummy foods! It's a very busy location, but it is pretty rare that we don't find a table on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. We love their big selection of teas and their alternative food choices!

When I lived in Lincoln Square I used to go here many times a week. Not a lot seating here and people tend to stay a long time. Would be nice if there was a time limit so more people could eat in. I almost always get a double cortado. Great coffee, great food, very nice servers. Hint: in nice weather there is some outdoor patio seating in back.

They don't have decaf drip, so you end up having to purchase an espresso drink. Bit pricey if you're just trying to meet a friend for a coffee. Pastry selection is great. Quaint seating area inside and a cozy outdoor "patio" for the warmer months.

Oh The Grind...you know a place has the best coffee in the neighborhood when your coffee snob older siblings count it as their favorite coffee spot in Lincoln Square. The service is decent. On a Saturday or Sunday morning it can be slow and the line can be long especially if a spin class just let out at Lincoln Square Athletic Club. The coffee is piping hot and a good quality as well. The Grind is also into technology. If you have a certain app on your smart phone set up with your bank you can use that to pay. They also take credit cards which is great! A ton of local coffee shops are cash only. They have a good selection of teas as well as breakfast and lunch items. If you decided to enjoy your cup of coffee at The Grind they will bring your food to your table.

A very unpretentious coffee shop off the main drag in Lincoln Square. They serve cafe food and coffee/tea, plus baked goods. The drip coffee is usually great, not over-extracted or burnt tasting. Their Chai is more traditionally spicy as opposed to the sweeter versions at other shops. It can be crowded at popular times with lots of people on laptops, so beware if you're looking for a place to sit.

The coffee shop, located right in Lincoln Square is delicious. The coffee is great and the bakery is fantastic. I would recommend visiting mid morning to enjoy the coffee on their back deck. Its shaded enough and has a beautiful little garden.
