The Groovy Floret

I’ve gotten food here so many times I’ve lost count and it is always so good! My favorite is their Original Groovy Tacos! This is the first vegan restaurant I all around enjoy because instead of just doing a bunch of realistic looking and tasting fake meats using soy and tofu (not my thing at all), they use delicious cauliflower instead! Everything I’ve gotten here has been so good and so unique. Oh and the owner is always so nice. Keep it up you guys!

The Groovy Floret is hands-down one of the best vegan dining experiences I’ve ever had since moving to Portland. From the moment I arrived, the friendly and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for an incredible visit. The menu is a dream for anyone who loves fresh, creative, and delicious plant-based food. The nachos were outstanding, with perfectly seasoned creamy vegan nacho cheese sauce that made every bite unforgettable. What truly sets The Groovy Floret apart is their commitment to being gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free. It’s rare to find a restaurant that caters to so many dietary needs without compromising on flavor. The quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail are obvious in every dish. The food was amazing! I didn't even get a chance to take a picture before I dug in! The jackfruit tacos were so tasty, I've never had cauliflower as a meat alternative but it was so flavorful and filling. The corn salad was my favorite dish. The heated patio was super cute! The drinks were all good as well. I don't often go to North Portland but I will make the trip just to come back here! The energy is amazing!

We found this restaurant in our research. As vegan foodies- we are always looking for amazing vegan food. Wow- this was it. Some of the best food we have tasted. The flavors are incredible. We will be back. Vegan or not you simply must try the Groovy Floret!

If I could give more stars I would! The food is always delicious and Lanie is a delight. I pretty much always wanna come here. I've dreamed about the salads, not even kidding. She makes kid or baby friendly options, too!

came here with a vegan friend and got nachos, as someone who eats and loves meat they were delicious, nachos were absolutely loaded too. was surprised at how good of a substitute cauliflower was for meat, didn’t really notice a difference. loooove the art and atmosphere here too, as well as the outdoor seating. the lady who was working there was nice and friendly and they played really good music as well, loved that they played some hendrix. would definitely come back here even if it’s a 40 minute trip for me, highly recommend even if you swear by meat

I'm new to GF food but I can't do dairy anymore so it's nice to come to a place and try food that doesn't taste like it's "missing ingredients" Customer service is awesome and Lanie introduced me to my first vegan hot Cocoa that is truly badass and highly recommended. The nachos are also awesome 🥰😋 My kid who is a meat eater even complimented the nachos. If you're looking for a place that has an easy to read menu with quality ingredients - this is where you want to go ❤️ PS. Couldn't get a good pic of the nachos as they were promptly destroyed 😋❤️⚡

ALL VEGAN, GOOD QUALITY, AND GREAT HOSPITALITY!!!! It is always refreshing when there is top notch customer service, especially in Portland Proper. I did not catch the persons name but this last Wednesday she was there ***hint to owner to give a bonus*** The atmosphere was great. It was seating in a covered patio. I would bring a jacket during the winter but that's an assumption. But it's eclectic and you have to watch out for a dinosaur plant. If you're taller like me you will bump your head into the branch that lays over the walk way. It's not a hard plant but it will give you a startle. Now, for what matters, the food. It's good. The tacos are not traditional, so don't go here if you can't handle fancy tacos. I got the BBQ ones and they were so full of flavor! If you're a big texture person they have a hard taco option, as these were soft on the inside and outside. The watermelon gazpacho was interesting. It tasted great!!! But I wanted a straw as it was like spooning a savory aguafresca. The quesa was great as well. The only food item we didn't like was the Chipotle chorizo 'meat' on the Ceasars salad. It tasted like the soyrizo stuff (it is handmade just a simular taste and texture). The salad was good. It had a perfect blend of seeds and big crispy green kale. But overall 5 stars in food. Finally the cocktails. We were skeptical as the mixes are pre-made in house.... but they were so flavorful! The mango margarita I recommend (my counterpart had 3). I loved the jalapeño Mojito it had spice but it wasn't overwhelming allowing it to still be refreshing! And the Mezcal based Poloma was good, but if you don't like smoke flavor avoid as the Mezcal used is ultra smokey (which I liked). Overall this place is a must go to in my book. I was surprised we were alone when we were there. They have a small menu but everything we had we liked.

The cauliflower "meat" is crazy delicious and really special!! Oh, I know many people comment on the friendly owner, and you don't care because you just want to know about the food.... BUT, she is really awesome and definitely adds to the experience. She had me LOL.

Fun and Funky Feel Good Food! This place was the perfect ending to a fun day! We started with some mini-golf at Wonderwood, which was super cute, but the food options weren't quite what we were craving. Luckily, we found this gem a little further down the road. Groovy Vibes and Delicious Vegan Eats The atmosphere here is awesome! It lives up to its quote on the wall "Feel Good Food" from the moment you walk in. Brightly colored flowers adorn the walls, and the whole vibe is cheerful and inviting. Plus, everything on the menu is vegan! They even have their own signature "cauliflower meat" instead of processed alternatives. I've used cauliflower in tons of dishes, but never thought to make "meat" out of it - such a creative idea! Dishes to Try We started with the queso and then had the nachos. Both were amazing, but next time I might choose a different main course since it was a lot of chips (delicious chips, though!). Cozy Patio Seating It was a chilly day when we visited, and the indoor seating was a bit limited. Thankfully, they had a great enclosed patio with plenty of heat lamps to keep us warm and comfortable. Overall Impression This place is a great find for delicious vegan food in a fun and funky atmosphere. I highly recommend checking it out!

My partner and I were out running errands and stopped in for a late afternoon cocktail with our small, well-behaved pup! (everyone was so stinkin' nice to our dog, it was wonderful) This place is a bright, colorful burst of fun! Truly groovy! We had the weather so we were able to sit on the patio and it was like being in a cozy and cute backyard, we really appreciated the amount of seating options even for a small-ish spot. The drinks were so refreshing and we cannot wait to return and enjoy more of the menu.

Cozy vegan spot with a large back patio. Great selection of WELL seasoned vegan food! The staff is super friendly and they have doggy watering stations for the pups.

Wonderful hospitality, large servings, great tasting, and a queer woman owned business: what more can you want! A groovy little place that packs the flavor into their entirely vegan menu. For there or to go, great value and fast service with a smile!

A cool little spot in the St John's area for some vegan tacos and snacks. We tried one of the Chipotle Salad Bowls and the BBQ Maple tacos which used jackfruit. The "meat" was very tender and the sauce was delightfully tangy. The salad portion was enormous, easily 2 meals. We were to full to fry some of the Jerry's dirty potatoes which I smelled/saw her cooking when we came in so that's on the list for next time. The inside is pretty small and cozy, a few tables to sit at by the order counter. But they have a large patio out back with a bunch of covered seating and a couple jenga games, tots for kids and even a cornhole set so also just a good place to hangout with some margaritas or some of their other drinks.

There were some major groovy times here at The Groovy Floret. I felt like Austin Powers on a plant-based acid trip with their aesthetic and it was made even better by having a 100% vegan Mexican menu. Oh yes! Located right at the start of the Rose City Food Park, you cannot help but stare at the wonderful colors and funky swag the truck exudes. The truck offers a variety of Mexican options from tacos, salad bowls, to black bean brownies (all the Bs!) Oh, and did I mention that most of their items here are gluten-free naturally as well? I went with their Nachos ($14) which utilizes cauliflower as their vegan meat, topped with vegan cheese, black beans, avocado, and pico. The plate also included one or two flowers to really complete the vibe they're trying to achieve. My nachos were delicious and the cauliflower was quite nice as it mixed into all the other ingredients well. While a bit pricy, I really enjoyed the nachos and would love to come back and try their tacos or salad bowls that everyone loves.

What a hidden gem! Cheap and cheerful, the patio is welcoming, covered, heated, and not crowded. The vegan food is simple and delicious, and clearly made in-house (this place was formerly a food truck). Great addition to St Johns - will definitely be back!

LOVE this place!! The owner is so fun and accommodating, the vibes are great (very colorful, good music), and the food was AMAZING (and only took about 8 minutes!). I got the nachos to go and then ended up staying because I liked the ambiance so much. Definitely coming back here!

Plant based delicious Mexican food? Yes please. I'm an ethical vegan who didn't want to ever give up cheese and junk food who became a vegan who loves to cook and would rather eat plant based than meat replacement products. We chose The Groovy Floret because we had come to Rose City Food Carts to try another vendor for my son's birthday and my daughter is a Mexican food fanatic and I LOVED their branding and that it was entirely plant based. Let me say for the record, my daughter has high expectations for Mexican food, and my son really doesn't like vegetables at all. So the taco salad sounded amazing to me. My mom and I both ordered it. I was SO pleased. The dressing was light, refreshing and just a perfect addition to the salad without overpowering it. The kale and all the vegetables were incredibly fresh. The "taco meat" was JUST right in every way. It was on the side of the salad, so I stirred it in. But it wasn't the MAIN part of the salad, the SALAD was!!! (Go figure!) My daughter ordered the nachos. She didn't really say much of anything but kept going "mmmmmm" with every bite. I asked her how it was and she said "it's really good mama!" I asked for a taste and was NOT disappointed. ALL, and I repeat ALL, of the vegan nachos I've had since being vegan, 10 years, have been slathered in cheese or guacamole or sauces and laden with grease. Well, if you're wanting plant based tacos these will satisfy you. They have crunch, from fresh chips, jalapeno and veggies, they have amazing flavored meat, and just enough toppings. One of my favorite things is that they weren't soggy at the bottom!!! BOOM!!! Perfection!!! My son finally decided he would have the nachos too but was wishy-washy about it. When he tried them we had 0 complaints. I waited until he had eaten more than half to let him know he was eating cauliflower. He said "NO WAY!! Well I love this cauliflower!" That's a parenting win if I ever had one!!! We ordered the black bean brownie to share and I wish we had ordered 4. Wow was it decadent and rich and you couldn't tell AT ALL that it had black beans in it. Both my kids were shocked. Our service was also stellar with The Groovy Floret. I love supporting women owned businesses and local vendors but this is a MUST since they have excellent food, service and atmosphere. There are plenty of tables for eating at and plenty which are shaded. They have a locked restroom, shared among the food carts, and you can get the code if you purchase food from any of them.

i've never had better vegan tacos than these. i got the original tacos & a mojito and was very happy. very friendly staff. cute and groovy place with outdoor seating.

The food is always incredible, the staff is such a delight, and the whole vibe of the place is so welcoming! The owner is such a kind person, and she is really open to hearing what her customers have to say. This is definitely a must if you're in the St. John's area, I'd say it's even worth the drive from downtown Portland for sure.

AMAZING! The owner was so friendly and helpful (we had a hard time choosing what to order) The Nachos are a MUST order, so good and the serving is large. The Caesar was delicious as well, and a big salad. Back patio was cute and cozy, and the heaters were great! My husband doesn't like kale, and even liked the salad. We appreciate your dedication to making delicious, protein packed vegan foods!

I am not vegan but I certainly enjoy veggies and vegan food. The food at TGF is really yummy. The cauliflower meat substitute is very flavorful and is delicious. The portions are quite generous and the price is very reasonable. To make things even more enticing the owner is super friendly, kind helpful and community oriented. I've been here several times, I have tried multiple menu items (The nachos and Caesar salad are great) and have left happy, full and satisfied every time. I will certainly be returning here very soon. If you like tasty food and good service visit this establishment you won't be disappointed.

The food didn't even taste vegan and was absolutely delicious. I loved the kind, and friendly atmosphere the owner and other women there were. They made my family feel so comfortable and appreciated just for coming in. I would definitely recommend this spot for those who are and are not vegan! Super great food and service!

i love the groovy floret. the cauliflower taco "meat" is my favorite non meat meat. texturally hits and doesn't leave a weird fake meat taste. the kale salad is probably my favorite and the street tacos are rad too. there's a new mac and cheese i haven't tried yet but looks killer. the owner is kind and generous and works her face off. the ambiance? well, she's done what she can with that small space and the backyard is nice and dog friendly! this is a wonderful st. john's business i highly recommend! you don't have to be vegan to appreciate this place.

The restaurant is a cozy little spot with some outside seating out back with corn hole and some Jenga. Had Maple BBQ taco and Chipotle Caesar salad. both were delicious.

This place is amazing! Was just passing thru Portland and stopped to visit a friend. We dropped down here for a quick late lunch, and was not disappointed. I had the cauliflower ceviche & pulled pineapple street tacos!--I will be dreaming of these for the next few days at least, and may have to plot a return course that passes me by here again!

Friend texted "let's meet at The Groovy Floret" after I asked her to select a place in my neighborhood. Intrigued by the name alone of the restaurant, I agreed. I checked out the menu items items online, there were simple photos of the dishes w/ingredients listed, but the coolest thing I noticed was the Groovy Floret signature- on each dish was placed a small daisy! Got there before my friend and made myself at home in the dining area in the front. Admired the rainbow globe lights in the narrow hallway, then struck up a nice conversation with Lanie, the visionary. Instantly I was curious about who she was because she had demonstrated she could manifest a dream into reality- few people have the self-confidence to make a risky move like this! Lanie told me that this is a smaller version of her dream, and a step up from the food cart. She told me about how a band had played in the back and the restaurant was flooded with activity, and how she envisioned the summer being similar to this. I ordered a nacho unlike any I had ever had- cauliflower, a trail of guacamole or green sauce dribbled like frosting throughout, nicely spiced, with the signature daisy; it was delicious!!!! Groovy music played. My friend arrived and ordered the same thing as me because it looked so tempting. There's alcohol there, which is a great offering for night time or summertime! Decor was thoughtful, earth conscious and funky. I'll be back!

What a total gem! This adorable food cart offers amazing plant-based tacos and tasty nibbles without any of those gross processed proteins. I've been searching for this type of food in PDX for years. Dairy free. Nut free. Full of flavor. Just fresh and tasty ingredients made with love. I ordered the special and was delighted to see its presentation, taste the array of flavors and sample the yummy sauces. The owner is friendly, kind and obviously passionate about making delicious and healthy food. I'll be back for sure!

We showed up mid brunch. A few items were sold out already, but they were so accommodating to make sure we were happy with what we got. The food is delicious. Anyone would love it, vegan or not. Plus supporting a woman owned small business is a spectacular bonus! Awesome covered heated patio adds some charm. All in all a sweet little place in an already great Portland neighborhood.

Absolutely delicious. This is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. I love their nachos because they have tons of great stuff on them. Quesadillas were good too! They have tons of space to eat out on the back patio. There is shelter and heaters for rainy days. I've visited in winter and summer. Vegan and nut free is hard to find for food sensitivity, so this place is awesome. It's quiet and a fun place to sit with friends. Dry affordable as well.

Super delicious food, great soundtrack, wonderful jumpsuits. What more could you want? Everything is vegan, with none of the big major allergens, and yet it's still delicious and filling. Cauliflower makes a wonderful canvas.

This food is amazing! I'm not vegan and it doesn't matter. The food is delicious! I've been back many times and tried all of the regular menu items. The core "meat" is so flavorful it works well in whichever form you choose. The specials are always tasty, too. I recommend the mango iced tea to compliment your meal. Everyone that works here is fun and friendly. Go get some!!!

Tasty, perfectly spiced vegan tacos. The hard shells come with cauliflower "meat" and the soft tacos are jackfruit. Both kinds are topped with a lovely avocado crema and garnished with edible flowers. Delicious! I can't wait to have a margarita on the gorgeous patio.

Flavorful, tasty, clean food featuring a deft use of spice and acid. We got the taco salad and the nachos as well as two different popsicles, everything is bomb. The owner was also really patient with our questions and requests regarding take-out nacho construction. Lovely experience

Very cute cart in the Rose City Food Cart Pod. All vegan/GF. We tried the tacos and the nachos and they were both SO good. Fresh and filling but didn't weigh us down. I like that there are no processed fake meat, but cauliflower based taco "meat". Service was friendly and the music is great too. We shared the black bean brownie with ice cream on top and it too was delicious. Excited to come back to try other things on the menu. Thank you Groovy Floret!

Had the chance to try out the Groovy Floret on Sunday and wow was I amazed. First let me start by admitting I'm not a vegan, so I tend to compare vegan dishes to their counterparts and The Groovy Floret did not disappoint. I tried her 3-taco plate, coming with blue tacos shells, a generous amount of fillings, and the fresh salsa, so tasty. Mexican-inspired dishes with healthy ingredients, I was extremely impressed. My kids ate the Nachos, opting for a non-spicy cheese, and they devoured it in minutes. I'll be trying her salad and hash plates on our next visit for sure. If you are in the mood for good, healthy, clean food at a very reasonable price, stop scrolling and go here!
