13 Houston Restaurants With Breathtaking Views

"There are lots of dining choices to consider in close proximity to Downtown’s Discovery Green, but only one is situated dead in the middle of it. The Grove allows park-goers to enjoy an upscale dining experience while remaining close to all of the action. Substantial glass windows offer park views at every turn, and a wraparound patio lets diners enjoy their meals outdoors. The creamy blue crab mac and cheese and braised short ribs are decadent choices, and if you’re looking for something vegetarian, you can’t go wrong with the cauliflower koshary." - Megha McSwain, Minh Truong

10 Houston Restaurants That Make Great Wedding Venues | Eater Houston

"With its floor-to-ceiling windows and the rustic elegance of a city treehouse, take in the Grove’s scenic views of Downtown and Discovery Green Park. Bask in the outdoors by reserving the Grace Event Lawn, perfect for a large-scale event, or host your party at the Lake House for serene vibes by the water. If a rain plan is important, the Primavera Room has stunning views of the park’s natural gardens, century-old Oak trees, and a butterfly garden from a private deck, and the second floor also offers a deck and private balcony with exquisite views of the gardens and nearby skyline. What’s more — most decor, like centerpieces, linens, chairs, and more, are included, and catering services are offered in the form of passed hors d’ oeuvres, buffet, or plated meals." - Brittany Britto Garley

Absolutely Amazing! From the moment we stepped into The Grove on Lamar, we were blown away. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting, with a modern twist. The service was impeccable – our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making sure we had everything we needed. But the real star of the show was the food! The bread rolls were warm and buttery, the tortilla soup was flavorful and comforting, and the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy. Every dish was a masterpiece! If you're looking for a truly unforgettable dining experience, I highly recommend The Grove on Lamar. It's a gem in the heart of Houston that won't disappoint. Overall: 5/5 stars. I would also like to add that the venue itself is stunning. The Grove is located in Discovery Green, so you have beautiful views of the park and the city skyline. The decor is modern and chic, and the overall ambiance is very relaxing.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with a few close friends. Not only is this restaurant a beautiful event space, but it totally lived up to all the glowing reviews we’d heard! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. We were a little disappointed that a few dishes we wanted were sold out, but the manager, Brian, went above and beyond to make it up to us—even sending over complimentary food and wine! His kindness and attentiveness truly made our night special. If you visit, definitely ask for Brian—he’s fantastic! We left so happy and can’t wait to come back.

Google
Blue crab enchiladas with fennel slaw was amazing. But the coffee is custom made by the chef and only served in a French press with good reason. It is amazing. Rich but smooth. The blend has wonderful aroma, slightly nutty but never bitter. Well done. 🎩

Google
I have had lunch and dinner here and it was a fantastic experience both times.Service is attentive without being annoying. We liked it here so much that we hosted the rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding in November '24 here. Everything was wonderful and perfect and our guests also loved it and raved. Great food, good drinks, cool atmosphere, and good location.

After hosting a party at The Grove in Houston, I cannot recommend this venue. My experience was disappointing on multiple levels. The management made promises that were never fulfilled, creating significant issues with my event. Communication was poor, with the manager telling me one thing but failing to deliver on those commitments. The staff, particularly the person at the entrance, displayed an unprofessional attitude that made guests feel unwelcome. This poor customer service only compounded the problems with the event itself. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise against choosing The Grove for any important gatherings or celebrations. The disconnect between what was promised and what was delivered made for a frustrating experience that ultimately ruined what should have been a special occasion.

Google
The food was really great! Others at the table got the wagyu cheddar burger and complimented it. I got the blue crab enchiladas and they were really, really good. The flavor was amazing. The sauce on them was 10/10 and they were sprinkled with corn & cilantro, etc. However, the service was lacking — we waited awhile for waters to be refilled and they initially brought out a burger for me rather than the enchiladas. They said they’d correct it and it took them probably another 20 minutes to bring out my plate. The food made up for it though!

Google
Appetizer was the bread and blue crab corn fritters. The fritters were tasty. Nice outside. Excellent chunks of crab. I liked the sauce for them as well. The kale salad and red fish was great. The fish was cooked perfectly. The fried potatoes salad was a surprise hit. I’ve never seen that item on a menu. My friend got the wedge salad. She loveddd it. Service was amazing as well. Definitely want to go back!

Google
Our experience was excellent, we had a nice window seat and the restaurant was open and airy. We ordered the summer Burratta with focaccia bread and it was very refreshing. Very enjoyable with an amazing vinaigrette dressing. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We loved the fact that the oysters were large and full of flavor. Stir fry shrimp had the perfect level of spice it doesn’t come too spicy but you can always add more. The restaurant was kind enough to send us a slice of cake for our anniversary as well. I also have nothing but good things to say about our waiter, Rick. Thanks for your suggestions and taking the time to explain pairings with us.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and location close to convention center. Service was a little slow and they were not busy. The menu is limited with some decent options.

Yelp
The Cauliflower Koshary was exotic. It came with rice at the bottom and was a healthy filling vegetarian meal. I always appreciate when they go the extra mile to tell the ingredients to make sure I am ok with everything that is going into my meal. The presentation Ofcourse made me hungry instantly .... The side salad was good too. This time skipped the chocolate cake due to time constraints :(

Yelp
Adventuring around the busy convention center lead us across Discovery Green to the Grove for lunch. Upon first walking in, it was as pretty as I thought it would be since admiring it from outside. We got the menus and honestly I was disappointed. For lunch, the cheapest items were around 20-30 dollars if you want a protein. The yelp page is full of great photos of good looking food. I got the cheeseburger which I wish I had done a size comparison. It was on the smaller size especially for 24. I guess that was due to the better meat. Though even with the cut, meh. I honestly wish they had more of the food back from the previous photos yelpers took. The sweet potato and kale taquitos had a better flavor and better value. The sauce was more along a marina-ish feel. Overall after going in and the current lunch menu, I won't be returning. The server was nice enough but not worth ignoring the mediocre overpriced food.

Yelp
Came here right before the lunch rush and enjoyed my time here. We were one of the first to dine for Lunch that day so we didn't have a wait at all which is a plus. Service was amazing because there wasn't anyone there and most of the attention was on us. I ordered the strawberry salad and added the salmon and asked for the almonds or pecans to be removed as I have an allergy. The salad was delicious and it almost could have been a full bowl vs a plate but it was delicious.

Yelp
We walked in with no reservations. Four little girls were with us under the age of 10 and the restaurant staff made us feel very welcome. Such a good experience for them. Love the ambiance. Beautiful setting with the lighted figs plus the sprawling oaks outside. We had a lovely Prosecco to start with. The dirty martini was superb! The girls enjoyed the house milk rolls. And our server, Alcides, was so helpful! He immediately put in the littles' orders so their hamburgers would be ready first. The scallops were simply amazing! Caviar jalapeños olives yogurt fennel...absolutely perfected cooked. In fact, best scallops I've ever had! I ended this delicious meal with an Espresso martini - perfect!

Yelp
First time at The Grove to celebrate the birthday lady. The service was great and the ambiance is really nice. I love how spacious the place is. Now, if you're vegetarian there are just not many options for you (us) on the menu which sucks. Thankfully for me I'm pescatarian sometimes (do we really need the labels?), so technically I could have indulged in a seafood entree. I ended up ordering the blue crab corn fritters and made that my meal along with that delicious ass bread! Y'all the bread and the butter is a treat. I'll go back just to order that and a beverage. I originally ordered a martini and it was an absolute no for me- it tasted like rubbing alcohol ahhh. Opted for a glass of wine instead. The margarita was good as well. Overall, The Grove was a good experience. They do give people celebrating their birthdays a free treat and I must say that the berries and cream dessert was delightful.

Yelp
Average food at a high price. Cool atmosphere though. Take a good look at the menu before you go there

Yelp
The pork chops were so salty they were inedible. My wedge salad was good but the blue cheese was bland--that is not usual! Steak was ok. Blackened Fish was good. Old fashions were okay. And the Aperol spritzer was decent. Service was decent. Won't be back for the price.

Yelp
I've been to The Grove twice this year. Both times for work events, one of those events being last Wednesday evening. The other, for an event I hosted back in October. The restaurant is within a sustainable smart LEED certified building and very conveniently located in the heart of Discovery Green and across from the GRB. It also isn't at all far from Minute Maid Park , Toyota Center and other notable venues. The Grove staff is phenomenal and goes above and beyond to accommodate your event. Shout out to bar manager, Jesus and bartender, Doug who really go the extra mile. I emailed and called Jesus so much when I was planning out my event and he was always available and eager to expand on my enthusiasm, providing excellent ideas for making my event even better. The food and drinks are delicious and they keep them coming. Valet parking for only $10 if you can't find street parking which I believe is free after 6pm on the weekdays and all day Sundays.

Yelp
This place was amazing! The environment was exciting full of energy and everyone was kind. Racheal was our server and she was the best. Funny kind and knew the Menu well. She deserves the recognition for being such a great part of the restaurant. We had a blast

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to The Grove one afternoon. This is a unique restaurant with beautiful decor, and I would describe the interior as artsy, colorful, elegant and inviting. Beforehand, I wasn't sure about what to order, but once I arrived, the Ahi Tuna Poke and Blue Crab Fritters seemed like great choices. Originally, the Ahi Tuna Poke was served with a miniscule amount of wasabi-avocado puree, but after alerting the waiter, he quickly fixed the issue. This is a delightful savory dish with an excellent ponzu sauce. The Blue Crab Fritters are so delicious, and have the texture of a beignet. I even loved the bread and butter. To me, this is such a wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended, especially for lunch.

Yelp
Good food. Good table service. Good drink selection. There for a corporate dinner in early November this year. The high ceiling helps reduce the noise of a large open space. It would be 5 star if the hostess hadn't snapped at us over simple questions like asking for a menu that we needed to wait for our waitress who was really busy right now. The sarcasm that she would get to us when she possibly could wasn't lost on us. At most restaurants, the hostess seats you with a menu and this was odd.

Yelp
Great restaurant. The pics in yelp of the restaurant don't do it justice. Really good food and service. Tried several dishes including the first time I've ever seen "fried" potato salad. While the potato salad was different it was actually pretty good. The food also went well with a great open concept restaurant that also felt quite airy with all of the windows that open to the park. Definitely worth stopping in if you are in Houston.

Barbara D.

Yelp
Daniel Braden graciously hosted The Houston Concierge Association at The Grove. It was an amazing experience. Location, ambiance, service, and food were all wonderful. Dry aged NY Strip that melts in your mouth. Upscale ambiance with views of Discovery Green Park. Daniel was a terrific host as were Rick, Eric, and Mary (cocktail magician). The Grove is centrally located in Discovery Park just steps from the Hilton-Americas, Marriott Marquis, and Embassy Suites hotels. Have a guest to impress? Treat them to The Grove.

Yelp
Loved the food and options here! The drinks, apps, and meals were innovative and unique! Loved the ginger margarita and the burrata. The service was prompt and friendly, and the space accommodate our rather large group very well! I will be back in Houston this winter and plan to return!

Yelp
So, this is a place I will definitely have to revisit to give a complete review, however, this review would be based off of the charred wings and service, for the most part. We went here on a Wednesday night, so it was fairly empty. The set up of the restaurant was very intimate, which I liked. The lights were dimmed and the candles were lit. Unfortunately, we came to this place on a whim and I had already stuffed my face. So, my friend just ordered the wings, a drink, and a Corona. The wings definitely gave the appearance of tasty, but they were just average to me like they were missing a particular seasoning. It also gave the flavor that it may have been cooked alongside some pork, which I really wasn't a fan of. I kind of got the sense that since we ordered so little that the waiter was a tad in a rush with us. She bought the check before my friend was ready and while he still had the intent of ordering his last item, the beer. This may have been a one off experience. The rest of the food looked good and I've heard good things in the past, so I would be willing to visit again and give an updated review.

Yelp
This is one of those funny reviews where you remember enough to want to write a good review but it was on a hectic business trip and I don't remember what all I ate. I remember the patio being really nice - a big highlight for sure. I remember my salad - some type of garden greens - being excellent. I ate here TWICE but am having trouble finding a picture of what I are (lulz), even though it was good enough to come back a 2nd time. I remember service being a little slow but friendly - common "spread too thin" issue we all deal with these days. Slow service aside, I'd come back for the patio and solid food, fo sho.

Yelp
October 26, 2021 Came into town w/a friend from Galveston for the Van Gogh "immersive" art exhibit. But, first we needed to see the skull exhibit at Discovery Green. They were so cool. So, anytime we're at the green, we come have cocktails here! Sat at the bar and a few glasses of great wine. Beautiful day out too!

Yelp
Service was terrible. Waited twenty minutes upon being seated before we received our drinks in which they brought the wrong one to my wife. I ended up walking to the bar myself during our meal and ordering my drink there because of the lack of service from our waiter. My wife's steak was overcooked and burnt, however we were unable to explain to our waiter because he only came by about every thirty minutes. For the price I expect at least decent food and decent service. We received neither. Inside of the building was nice. If they could figure out the food and service situation it could be a good spot. At its current state it isnt worth giving them business. Plenty of other options downtown.

Yelp
I had lunch here this week to start out Houston Restaurant Weeks' ordering from that menu. After being seated, I chose the crispy chicken sandwich for the entree along with the garden green salad to begin with for $20. First to arrive was the very nice looking salad about 10 minutes after ordering. It had baby bock choy with cucumber, avocado, carrots and cashews and a ginger miso vinaigrette dressing. I really enjoyed this salad. It was quality ingredient wise but it lacked enough of the dressing. The kitchen made an error and I didn't want to take the time to have the waiter bring me some more. The entree arrived about 15 minutes after the salad. Looks wise it didn't disappoint. A big piece of fried bird on the dressed bun with a side of potato wedges. The sandwich taste wise was very, very good with the cabbage and pickled banana peppers to bolster the flavor. I was impressed with both the flavor and amount of meat on the bun. I enjoyed it however the bun gave away long before the sandwich was finished. The amount of breast meat was too big for the bun. A classic mistake of the kitchen not understanding that meat and bread both need to considered. A great po boy is all about the bread as most sandwiches are. Here the standard challah hamburger bun didn't cut it. This sandwich became a knife and fork meal. The potato wedges were also very good. Finally my table serve was prompt and attentive. I think that The Grove is better than the 3 score that I am giving. I really do. However my meal was lite on the salad dressing and the bun wasn't dense enough to hold up to the meat. It's only those reasons that I am giving a 3 overall.
google avatar

Maya B.

Yelp
The food was solid. The bread came at a cost which I found surprising but it was rather delicious. The steak was cooked medium as requested and the service was fairly quick. Over all a good solid dining choice if your near the convention center.

Yelp
This place has always had a top notch atmosphere. But years ago when I first ate at the restaurant I was less than impressed. I'm glad to report that has changed. We had some family in town and took them here before going to an event in the theatre district. The food and the cocktails were great! I had the gulf shrimp, which had a lovely hint of coconut with bright flavors. My partner got the Ahi Tuna which had a really nice soba noodle with veggies on the side. Others at our table got the ribeye and the cheeseburger (not pictured). Overall we will definitely be back!
google avatar

Benetta P.

Yelp
During our convention we ate lunch here. The food was amazing. The wait staff was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant. I have never eaten red fish. The red fish sandwich almost had me biting my fingers, it was delicious. I am so glad I tried something new. The lobster crab roll was very good.
google avatar

Yelp
The venue was beautiful and there were plenty of staff to make sure everything came out on time. We never waited long at all for anything, our server Alex was great. They have their own barrel with Maker's Mark so if you're an old fashioned fan, I'd definitely give theirs a try. The tomato and burrata was delicious, came with a vinaigrette sauce that was to die for. Filet was cooked perfectly and gravy/sauce tied all the flavors together very well. I'll definitely come back!

Yelp
Found this by accident with our cab driver!! Wonderful happy hour!!

Yelp
Had a fun time here. We did valet, which was ten dollars. We ate outside on the patio. There was a guy playing the violin outside which was cool. Our server was nice, no complaints there. The Mac and cheese tasted good, very cheesy. Came out super hot! It was enough for two people. We actually didn't eat it all. The chargrilled Wings were awesome, some of the best wings. Seasoned perfectly. Not too salty or anything and a lot came with the order. The white sangria was a bit weak to me, maybe too much ice. Overall, we had a great time. The inside of the restaurant has a nice decor as well.
google avatar

Yelp
The service was great here, and inside the restaurant was beautiful. My friends and I went here to have a bridal party. We didn't request a private room, but the manager gave us one anyways which was great. It was nice to be separated from the restaurant so we could have our private event. The food however was okay. They ran out of like 3 of the entrees and those were the ones my friends and I wanted to eat. I saw a lot of people order the bread and butter but I have no idea why, the bread was dry and the butter was nothing special. I had the redfish which was okay, nothing special. The dessert was really good. I had the berries and cream for dessert, would get that again.

Yelp
After a long hiatus, I finally returned to The Grove with 8 friends for what I wanted to be a nice dinner. Unfortunately, the food were served only had mediocre flavors, the serving size was markedly smaller, and the prices were higher than what I remember (my past dish was $32.50). However, it was the service (or lack thereof) that really bothered me and my guests. No one cleared away the unused wine glasses until we physically collected them and handed them to the staff. Then, one of my guests ordered a dish that never came out. After our food was brought out, no one came back to check on us and we physically had to walk to the server stand to get our waiter's attention after several of us spent several minutes waiving him down with our hands and napkins. No one refilled our waters until asked. No one asked if we wanted dessert. For the price point, it was a big disappointment that evening. Will not return unless absolutely necessary.

Yelp
Great location. Right next to Discovery on the Green. Ambiance is great. Every dish in this review was delicious. Perfect portion. Homogenous flavors. Paired it with a great bottle of Pinot Gris. Our serve Jasmine was amazing. She provided great service, recommendation, and made our dinner an experience and pleasure. This is a must go back to anytime I am in Houston.

Yelp
Food was good. Not many options but honestly it is good food. The two stars is due to automatic 20% tip for a table with only 6 people. Since when is that a large table? With a few nice bottles of wine and mediocre service- 20% on all items is ridiculous. Paying a server $20 to open a $100 bottle and never come back to pour is insane..sorry but this needs to stop.

Yelp
The Grove is an excellent spot for brunch. Well, maybe with the exception for parking since we all know trying to find parking in Downtown Houston sucks and the restaurant doesn't offer free parking, but instead, only paid valet. When there's nothing going on downtown, finding street parking would be easy. However, when there are events in the surrounding areas, then street parking would prove challenging although not impossible to find. The $35 brunch buffet is legit with lots of food selections. From something lightweight like salads; your typical breakfast foods like eggs, bacon, ham, and/or sausage, all the way to your heavy foods like BBQ. There's also an omelette station if you don't mind the wait; and to finish things off, there's plenty of baked goods and fresh fruits. Some people will also take advantage of their Sunday Drink Specials where you pay $15 to get pretty much a bottomless drink of your choice: sangria, mimosa, mojito, or lime margarita. Well, technically it's not bottomless since you do have to pay for refills. However at $0.01 (that's a penny for you) for each refill, we can all agree that it's pretty much bottomless. The only thing I didn't like about my visit? The waitress who waited on our table. She was gone a lot and she was gone long. In order to take advantage of the Sunday drink special, unfortunately, you have to place an order with your waitress/waiter for every refill; and with her being gone a lot, it was pretty tough to place an order so we ended up having to flag her down every time we caught glance of her instead of having her come check on us, which we would have preferred. I do have to give a quick shout out to a waiter who didn't wait on us. He was a bigger man with plenty of tats who could intimidate the anyone on the street. However, he stopped by our table (we were celebrating a birthday and had a cookie cake) and made comments about the cookie cake and he would stop by plenty after the fact just to crack some jokes or to make silly comments. I'm going to go as far to say that we saw him at our table more than we saw our actual waitress! Had he been our server, this review might have been a five stars review. I didn't get his name, but if you ever visit the Grove and you get a big tatted man as your server, be happy. Be very happy! Definitely don't mind coming back for brunch and drinks.

Yelp
Located in the Heart of downtown Houston. Across the street from the convention center. This restaurant is nice to enjoy a relaxing outdoor lunch with the view of beautiful park and Oak trees or a nice and quaint dinner. Restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a very nice trendy vibe. Been here during my two visits to Houston for work and I haven't been disappointed. I actually loved it so much during my first visit I came twice. Menu includes a good amount of options such as salads, sandwiches , burgers and more! Service was relatively good considering the amount of ppl who showed up at once during lunch from the conference I was attending during lunch. My skirt steak and wedge salad was pretty tasty. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the area. Enjoy!

Yelp
I received an email advertising drink specials for the CFP Champianchip. Being that I'm from out of town and was passing through Houston to get back home to my pregnant wife, I thought that this would be the best spot for some restaurant, bar and view. I made my way to the Grove early to stake out my spot for the BIG GAME. How dissapointed I was to find out that this establishment wouldn't be showing the game. Was it because they didn't have restaurant, bar or view? No, the CFP Champianchip was not being played on Sunday--but on Monday! I am now on a 5-hour drive hour home stuck in traffic on a Sunday night. If they hadn't sent me an email about the Champianchip, I wouldn't be stuck in this mess. Now my pregnant wife is threatening to leave me because I was out trying to watch the sports instead of caring for our unborn child. "Always with the sports. Grow up, Stephen. You look like a buffoon cheering on these minor league ball players." In the future, please keep the restaurant, bar and view advertisements to yourself.

Yelp
Pros: I had the gnocchi and mushrooms and I was very happy with my meal, my husband did not like the pork AT ALL, and for about $30 it was disappointing, he said it tasted boiled. Service was great, the location was nice, we had a great view of the park to people watch. Cons: Overpriced.
google avatar

Daniel P.

Yelp
We chose this location because we had a concert at Toyota center and some of the pics of the food looked good. We decided to ignore the negative reviews about slow service but now wishing we didn't. In a nutshell the food was overpriced for the quality, the service was very, very slow and the drinks from the bar were poorly made. The restaurant itself looked nice but that was about the best thing it had going for it. Do yourself a favor and if you're going to a concert go to Pappasitos across the street instead. I didn't know it was there and was kicking myself as we walked past it going to Toyota center.

Yelp
Not only did the bring me the wrong meal but my burger was full of fat! Would not recommend especially not for the high price!!!.........

Yelp
I came here today because of convenience and they allow dogs on the patio outdoor seating area. When I sat down the gentleman in his fancy suit asked in a condescending way "You know today is brunch buffet only right?" Well I didn't know and that's fine whatever. $35/pp. Nougat (my pup) is sick and doesn't have much time left so I'm taking him out and spoiling him. This is not about the price, but the principle. They charged a fee for him, $5/6, without telling me. WOW. On top of that, the service also SUCKED because we were the only ones who sat outside and they rarely came out to check on us. Plates piling up. Not once asked if Nougat needed a water bowl (seems fair if they're charging for him right?). I love how they also added another random service fee/gratuity. Is this because we sat outside? Please let patrons know next time. The generous one star was for the fabulous omelet station chef. Perhaps if I was dressed like my daily 9-5 job I would've gotten better service???

Yelp
I was thrilled to make a last-minute reservation for a late lunch here in between conference panels at a nearby hotel. We were famished but agreed right away that the Sweet Potato & Kale Enchiladas and the Cauliflower Koshary stood out on the menu. Enchiladas are a known quantity, bur I had never heard of koshary before: apparently it is Egypt's national dish and consists of grains such as rice amd quinoa covered in vegetables and a spicy tomato sauce. The staff very kindly split both dishes so we could enjoy half of each. The portions were generous and the food SO good. Beware the chilis if your palate is tender (I could smell the heat and didn't even taste them, while my table tablemate burned her tongue!). It was not too busy on a weekday, we enjoyed the view, paying was quick, and the pric3s were fair. I would definitely come back, even if only for dessert and a drink, which we sadly had no room for.

Yelp
We love coming here for special occasions. Birthdays, graduations, etc. they do have private rooms for larger parties. The food is American cuisine and very reasonably priced. They have glass walls and your view is Discovery Green. There is a full bar and I need to come for just HH one day again

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and dinner. Used the valet parking which was convenient. We ordered the bread & butter and crab fritters for appetizers and both were delicious. For my entree I ordered the filet mignon which was tender but personally I thought it could've used a little more seasoning. Finally, I ordered the chocolate cake to go and that was a bit disappointing- it tasted like a box mix you buy at the grocery store. Our waiter did a great job handling our group of 10 and the ambiance was nice. Definitely worth a try!!

Yelp
The Grove is a great place for drinks and eats with coworkers. Its has a dark, lively sports-bar atmosphere and can hold lots of people. No surprise here, since its located a few steps from Toyota Center where the Houston Rockets were playing. The surrounding area is in Discovery Green, sort of an urban park designed to beautify and revitalize downtown Houston. Our party of ten shared a few bottles of excellent Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and the appetizers of guac and chips along with these awesome catch fritters (fried fish filet balls with some nice spicy kick). For entree, after having trout for lunch and dinner the night before, I opted for the NY steak. It was pretty juicy and flavorful, but I think the star is all those mushrooms layered on top which really brought the umami. I probably overdid the demi-glace which made the meat a but too salty. Luckily, I got some an excellent side of grilled sweet potato wedges to neutralize the savory dish. Those sweet potatoes were awesome - herby, sweet, with crispy exterior and soft interior. Dessert had lots of interesting options but I could not say no to Rooftop Terrarium, a gluten-free 10-component desserts. Three different sorbets, lychee, coconut, matcha, walnuts, nasturtium, brownies, and pistachios - oh my! Highly recommend this for a casual, solid dinner spot for a large group. The bar was quieter than expected - did not find out until later than the Rockets lost badly against the Mavericks.

Yelp
I visited the grove for lunch with a group of coworkers. The ambiance is nice, the service was a bit mediocre. I ordered the redfish BLT which was delicious! My coworkers seemed to all have enjoyed their meals. Will be visiting again for lunch to give this place another try.

Yelp
There are only a few options on the menu but the food was amazing. The service was great. They were very friendly and professional. I definitely recommend the blue crab fritters. For celebrating our anniversary, they gave us a slice of delicious chocolate cake! So good!

Yelp
Had an incredible lunch at The Grove today. Group of 8 had a business lunch and since we work nearby, we walked over (yes, had a reservation). The host was great as we changed our group size from 6 to 8. They took just a few minutes to re-arrange another table to accommodate us. Then we lucked out by receiving the BEST server - EJ. Truly this guy made our lunch amazing. His personality is friendly, fun, quirky - our whole group thought this guy was great and he really converted this business lunch into an experience! The food was scrumptious- both well presented and tasty! We had queso & guacamole appetizers. Both were fantastic but the queso was the crowd favorite. Meals were an assortment of items including fish tacos, seafood roll, burgers, and chicken caesar. Everyone enjoyed their meal although the burgers and seafood rolls got the most YUMS. Overall a really good lunch, food was great but have to admit- the service is what made it so memorable. We can't wait to go back, but now we MUST have EJ !

Yelp
WOW! Went in today to buy a $100 gift card...the hostess tells me they don't sell gift cards, OK? I bought one there before, so she asks the manager who is behind the bar and he says they do. Yay? NAY! So I wait And wait I wait while the manager learns how to make a drink from the server I wait while the manager walks around talking to all the cool people (I am totally not cool) I wait while he offers to seat a bunch of women outside- hey don't you have a hostess? Oh wait...I get it, I just talked to her. Still waiting When it looked like he had nothing else to do but get grimy old me a giftcard? I walked out. If I wanted to be treated poorly and be made to feel terrible? I would just stay at work. Shame on you The Grove and shame on your manager. You aren't so great you can treat people like dirt.

Yelp
The food is delicious offering many GF options. Very young professional atmosphere. My 33 year old daughter says it is her favorite place to bring clients.

Yelp
We were trying to find a place for lunch and saw this as we were walking by. The place was packed for lunch. We were seated outside and given menus. The restaurant is placed in a beautiful location in the park. The server brought out waters for everyone and we placed our orders. The guacamole was amazing and the best hummus was unique and delicious! The ahi tuna poke bowl was amazing! packed full of flavor, it was refreshing yet filling. Very tasty! The cauliflower koshary was a treat for the eyes and the palate. Again, very flavorful dish with a variety of colorful vegetables that truly hit the spot. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We made a reservation in advance and are so glad we did! As the restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night, no street parking so did Valet. We ordered the Grove Mojito, bread and butter (it's not complementary here), the Cauliflower dish, and the kale and sweet potato enchiladas with the sauce on the side. Good vegetarian options. Everything was amazing! Love the ambiance with the dim lighting and the views. Great location. Perfect for date night.

Yelp
The Grove really is all about ambience. It's in a beautiful park with great outdoor seating (when it isn't 100 degrees). The Turkey club was solid but it is on the very pricey end for a sandwich. Good quality stuff but just be prepared to overpay for location and aesthetic.
