The Grove is an excellent spot for brunch. Well, maybe with the exception for parking since we all know trying to find parking in Downtown Houston sucks and the restaurant doesn't offer free parking, but instead, only paid valet. When there's nothing going on downtown, finding street parking would be easy. However, when there are events in the surrounding areas, then street parking would prove challenging although not impossible to find.
The $35 brunch buffet is legit with lots of food selections. From something lightweight like salads; your typical breakfast foods like eggs, bacon, ham, and/or sausage, all the way to your heavy foods like BBQ. There's also an omelette station if you don't mind the wait; and to finish things off, there's plenty of baked goods and fresh fruits.
Some people will also take advantage of their Sunday Drink Specials where you pay $15 to get pretty much a bottomless drink of your choice: sangria, mimosa, mojito, or lime margarita. Well, technically it's not bottomless since you do have to pay for refills. However at $0.01 (that's a penny for you) for each refill, we can all agree that it's pretty much bottomless.
The only thing I didn't like about my visit? The waitress who waited on our table. She was gone a lot and she was gone long. In order to take advantage of the Sunday drink special, unfortunately, you have to place an order with your waitress/waiter for every refill; and with her being gone a lot, it was pretty tough to place an order so we ended up having to flag her down every time we caught glance of her instead of having her come check on us, which we would have preferred.
I do have to give a quick shout out to a waiter who didn't wait on us. He was a bigger man with plenty of tats who could intimidate the anyone on the street. However, he stopped by our table (we were celebrating a birthday and had a cookie cake) and made comments about the cookie cake and he would stop by plenty after the fact just to crack some jokes or to make silly comments. I'm going to go as far to say that we saw him at our table more than we saw our actual waitress! Had he been our server, this review might have been a five stars review. I didn't get his name, but if you ever visit the Grove and you get a big tatted man as your server, be happy. Be very happy!
Definitely don't mind coming back for brunch and drinks.
