Where To Eat Outside In Jersey City & Hoboken

"Usually, our favorite way to experience Broa is sitting in their backyard surrounded by bottles of wine (it’s BYO) and plates of Portuguese dishes like bacalao or piri-piri quail. Now, you can get a pretty good sense for what we’re talking about by sitting at one of the tables they’ve set up on Grove Street, opening a bottle of wine, and asking the friendly servers about the nightly specials." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, matt tervooren

20 Spots In Jersey City & Hoboken Open For Indoor Dining Today

"You can’t go wrong with your seating choice at Broa. Sit outside, and you might get live music, and inside you’ll be surrounded by Portuguese street signs and the smell of octopus or housemade sausage grilling a few feet away. Either way, you’ll get delicious Portuguese food, very friendly servers, and a BYOB policy." - matt tervooren

The staff and bartenders are very friendly and nice! Patrons are also friendly. The happy hour $2.25 shrimp tacos are good. They come in orders of four. Drinks are okay. Lively atmosphere and good music. You need a code to get into the bathroom.

Decided to come around noon to try their 8.95 breakfast special and was helped by Allen. He was pleasant and respectful. The store is clean, bright and breezy during the day and makes you forget about how dirty grove street area is! The burrito was filling and came with crispy home fries AND they offered free coffee which was decent! They even had oat milk. You really can’t beat the price especially in this area

We absolutely love this place! We go there just about every morning. We bring our dog. They offer complimentary coffee, and the staff are absolutely excellent! Above and beyond that, the food is very affordable, and is very delicious. We have been here two times so far, and it is definitely amongst our most favorite places in Jersey City for a variety of reasons. Price, atmosphere, and the service.

I was so happy to find this place! My server Cindy was SO LOVELY & WELCOMING! I just moved here so she made this experience extraordinary, the food was delicious ( i got the pastrami sliders & truffle fries)! ALSO, I came in on a Wednesday—$6 MARTINIS😍 It was also Karaoke night which was epic, since I’m a huge music fan 🫶🏽✨ HAPPY TO FIND MY NEW SPOT IN THIS CITY 🌆

The lighting was just right, the music set the perfect mood, and the overall vibe was laid-back yet lively exactly what you'd want for a night out with friends or even a casual date night. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

Google
Cindy is absolutely amazing, as always! She brings the best energy, genuine attentiveness, and true care to every customer she serves. Grove Station is a local gem, and if you’re lucky enough to have Cindy as your bartender, you’re in for a top-tier experience. 10/10 — highly recommend!

Yelp
Good food, friendly bartender nice atmosphere. Karaoke guy slow as shit, started over an hour late and took forever between singers.

Yelp
My good friend Terry and I went to "Grove Station" in in Newark Avenue in Jersey City today, February 10, and enjoyed a truly tasty late breakfast and its ambiance . The eatery was warm and cozy amidst snow on the ground outside. Server Allen was efficient and personable as was Federico. Owner Jeff oversees a great and inviting restaurant / bar. We will surely be back soon.

Yelp
Drinks were good and the drink special made them inexpensive Food was ok overall, but I ordered a pesto gnocchi with shrimp. The price of the shrimp (posted as 6$) on the menu didn't match the price on the bill (7$), and the 7$ for the shrimp got me 6 small shrimp and was absolutely not worth adding. edited for clarity

Yelp
Been here a few time. I don't know if it was because everyone was in the holiday spirit or because it was Country Thursday, but this bar was definitely jumping last night. I walked in and several people had on cowboy hats. Some people were wearing them backwards without realizing which I thought was funny. $5 hats and drink specials. Giddy up and grab some shots!

Yelp
The spot is really cool, fun vibes! The food was really good, devoured all of it. We got the $20 pitchers of mimosa. Overall good restaurant but the portion size of the pitchers, wings and nachos are small. I guess the price makes sense but even for the price, I feel like portions are small. Service was fine, she was nice.

Yelp
I came here because they said they had an espresso martini and I am on the lookout for some of the best ones. When I walked in it was fairly empty as it was around 1:45 on a Thursday. The bartender was very nice and spoke wheni walked in and asked me what I wanted and I told him and then he asked me if I wanted to open tab which I said no because I thought I would just have one and leave. Come to find out the espresso martini was so good that I ended up having 4. The bartender makes a special espresso for the martinis with the hint of vanilla that is to die for. It taste like espresso with a hint of vodka, but oh my is it strong and amazing. You would think because it's so light it wouldn't have the strong espresso taste but the look is deceiving. The best part was that the martinis no matter what time of day are only $8. After my second espresso, I decided I needed something to eat, and the veggie flatbread was good. Nothing to roast scream about but good I did forget to say no olives because I don't like olives. I told my brother about it and yes, we will be back.

Yelp
No regrets. Simple no frills bar, great service, cheap drinks, easy spot for a big screen TV with whatever game is being shown. Don't expect a Lamborghini when buying a Honda, this is the place for a casual cheap cocktail/beer with friends, especially right next to the PATH.

Yelp
The owner said he would have the India vs Pakistan cricket match on with sound but halfway through the match he switched the sound to music to cater for "the bar audience". Most of the people at the bar were there for the game. This simply doesn't seem like the spot to watch a game if the owner is going to sell out for the general crowd They also give pretty small portions and their food is average. This place is not worth the any hassle

Yelp
This is such an amazing place with transportation literally two steps away. A nice spot to meet up with people for drinks and very affordable. Friendly staff and locals that will keep you coming back. Give this spot a shot you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Grove Station is a great place to enjoy whether to start or end your night! Come here for a quick drink before heading into the city or take one last shot before you go home. It's fast service and you'll always leave satisfied. Great drinks, great people, great vibes. Wings, sliders and or Flatbread are great! They have a fantastic Happy Hour and themed nights.

Yelp
Lauren was the bomb! Such great service / she was cool and attentive and fun! Happy hour specials were good

Yelp
lf I could give no stars, I would. I was harassed another patron while I was waiting on my orders and I simply suggested that the bar no longer tend to the patron. I was approached with hostility after asking what the name of the "manager" was due to the fact that I had already reached out to the manager on duty about this and the bartender with freckles refused to provide her own name, and rushed to alert the other bartender not to disclose the manager on duty's name. This is highly suspicious and I had no choice but to report the venue to the BBC due to its shady practices. They risked my safety along with the safety of my partner at the time of our venture to the Grove Station bar and we were literally blamed for the way we were treated. I have reported this management team and they dismissed my claims. It is absolutely unacceptable behavior and the people I reported to simply don't care.

Yelp
Ok for drinks. Our first experience was sooo much better.Beware of online menu with specials. All tacos listed at a discounted price and wait staff not aware.Listed Tacos must be only 1 kind also not clearly specified.Chicken quesadilla was edible.Flatbread tasted like soap, provolone w arugula leaves a weird aftertaste.

Yelp
The food here is good, especially the wings and roasted fries, and I appreciate that the fried items are air-fried. The vibe is cute--small but charming. However, customer service can be hit or miss. The real disappointment is the drinks--watered-down alcohol and margaritas that skip the simple syrup mix. Worth visiting for the food, but don't get your hopes up for the drinks or service.

Yelp
Me and my gfriend were there on Friday night for drinks. We really had a very bad experience because of your manager Louis. He was very unprofessional and a racist. I was wearing a cap . So Louis came to me and said it's our policy u can't wear caps inside. Fair enough I took it off n put on table. But just close like 2 tables away was a white guy wearing cap. So my gfriend asked him is this policy for every one or just us. So he gave us a dump answer saying that they were before us. Later second thing he told us that they are leaving soon. Seriously bro this bullshit you give me. Later I told him that you have to be fair to everyone. N later he told me that I make the rules here. Seriously bro thank God I have lot of patience. I have been working as a bartender for years. But I always treat people equally. But this guy was very racist. I hope the owner talks to this guy n teach him to treat people well. Sorry will never step again. Even let all my customers know how racist you people are. All the other bartenders even knew that he was wrong n even the security. I just told Louis on his face motherfucker may be you were not even born when I started working in this hotel industry. Just disappointed.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the heart of downtown JC. Right outside of the Grove St PATH Station, you'll find a great happy hour that starts at 10am and brunch that starts DAILY at 11am. Plus they have daily food specials including tacos for $2.25. I've been here a couple of times and I was very pleased at the pricing. Plus nothing is fried here. Chicken wings are oven roasted. Very reasonable for the area given that it's a simple neighborhood spot.

Yelp
I have been to grove several times before and always had good experiences. However, i tried to go by myself this past friday night and was denied entry bc of "dress code." Nowhere on the website or outside the bar mentions a dress code. I was slut shamed over an outfit that barely showed anything. I was told the owner doesn't even let girls in with a sliver of their stomach showing. This is not an elite nyc club, its not even a fancy place. If the owner has so much to say about how women dress in a BAR they should be at the door to deny me themself and tell me why i am a problem instead of having the bouncer feel embarrassed and apologize to me for your stupid rule. This is sad and tasteless. Its 2024, close your fucking eyes if you don't like someone's outfit. As a service worker myself i know it means nothing to say "you've lost a customer" but i will say i am a much better tipper than your regular client base. Knowing how restaurants work, my tip wouldve been more than you pay them for the day. Grace o malleys loved my outfit.
