Celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary here. Warm and intimate setting, quite different from other jap omakase places we have been before. Friendly staff. Generous servings. Delicious! Would return and recommend to friends!

Had a great dinner at The Gyu Bar on a quiet weeknight. The ambience was calm and peaceful, perfect for a relaxed meal. Service was excellent—staff were attentive and very accommodating throughout. The olive beef was outstanding—rich, tender, and full of flavour. We also really enjoyed the meat platter, which showcased a variety of cuts done beautifully. In fact, everything we ordered was well-executed and delicious. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but absolutely worth every cent for the quality and experience. Conveniently located within the complex between the two hotels on Stevens Road. Will definitely be back!

I’ve been to 1,300 restaurants and The Gyu Bar is the first to have such great service. I have been suffering from nasal congestion, which means i need to blow my nose every once in a while, but each time i use a lot of paper. The staff gave me a brown paper bag to put my trash! Also, the Gyu Bar is the first fine dining restaurant that actually allows free refill of rice! I’ve often found it ridiculous that fine dining places charge so much but give so stingy portion. Here’s my verdict for the $88, restaurant week dinner set. Note that we are the only reviewer here that did not pay $25 to upgrade to premium wagyu so our review is different. 1. Portion is small so i dont really have much comments 2. Love the salad and truffle chawanmushi 3. We were v much looking forward to the wagyu croquette but unfortunately it was too jelak. The croquette tasted like takoyaki, and the caviar’s fishy taste was overpowering. 4. The sukiyaki was the piece de resistance of the meal. We love the sweet corn at the bottom 5. We love the pudding, but were disappointed that the mochi was out of stock as that was our favourite.

This is one of the best Japanese Wagyu beef you could find in Singapore. I was playing host to my relatives at this restaurant. The restaurant is not the super high end type but because of the casual setting, high ceiling dining area, it made you feel relax and it’s a good place to dine with your friends and colleagues. We ordered Omakase sets, special wagyu tenderloin as well as several types of other tender wagyu cuts. The service staff is also very considerate and even suggesting types of dishes you order or share so you won’t get too much meats! I have tried many Japanese restaurants and in terms of Wagyu, this is one place you should try. In terms of booking experiences, once you have confirmed your reservations with the restaurant, it didn’t follow up with you when the dinner date is closer. I think this is one area they could improve. As for the price versus food quality, I think it is worth it. I will definitely go back again. $$&.

Had a fantastic lunch starting with an absolutely delicious maitake chawanmushi. Generous topping of mushroom slices, gently grilled to bring out the woody fragrance! Top notch quality ingredients for the shabu shabu. The olive and ohmi beef were beyond reproach, as was the delicious white corn in the delicate konbu broth. Seriously great quality right down to the shabu sauces and condiments.

Went back for the second time because of the truffle chawanmushi and Truffle Wagyu Sirlion Sukiyaki Don. Delicious as how I remembered it. Service was great too!

restaurant week meant discounted prices woohoo yam/uni/tartare/ikura, monkfish liver and chawanmushi were good. oddly enough the wagyu elements in the early courses didn't stand out or value add much croquette was creamy and delicious too but it just didn't seem taste much like a beef dish topped up $20 for the sirloin pumpkin nabe but preferred the yakiniku rice bowl actually...would def order the yakiniku rice bowl ala carte. wagyu was tender and juicy the $25 top up for a5 miyazaki and kagoshima beef was ok... vv good value but not mind blowing quality? ichibo and tokujo karubi were my faves think im just not a fan of sirloin... service was fantastic loved the generous truffle too :)

It has been awhile since I visited The Gyu Bar. If my memory didn’t fail me, I think the restaurant pivoted from fine dining towards a more casual dining experience, both of which are great. The focus on premium Wagyu beef remained. The Uni Wagyu Tart was a standout—rich Wagyu paired with briny uni and a touch of yam created a perfect balance of flavors. The Tara Shirako was another highlight, offering a unique, buttery mouthfeel. The comfortable ambiance and impeccable service complemented the exceptional quality of ingredients. Restaurant is tucked away at Mecure hotel along Steven’s road which is great for quiet dinner option for hotel guests and neighbouring residents.
