Where to Find South Florida’s Best Halal Food | Eater Miami

"As the name suggests, NYC import and counter service restaurant Halal Guys offers a completely halal menu. What started as a popular food stand in New York City 15 years ago has expanded into a nationwide chain offering a concise menu of platters filled with meats, rice, and vegetables alongside a handful of sandwiches, wraps, and sides. Top the meal with plenty of signature white sauce no matter what is ordered." - Olee Fowler

Confirming this is the best Halal guys that I’ve tried so far. The flavour of the chicken and gyro was almost close to the New York cart original recipe. Service was great and location was clean and well managed. Only suggesting I can make to even perfect the product more is to shred the chicken slightly more rather than cube.

We got 6 meals to go and so ended up being served by 2 servers. One was quiet and not particularly helpful when we said that we were taking a while to look at the menu since it was our first time there. They were playing music relatively loudly and the acoustics in the small location are horrible, so it was a bit hard to hear when we were speaking with the servers. The falafel was fried fresh to order and was ready quickly. The side of hummus was generous (about 6oz), but only came with one small pita bread (which we didn’t realize until we got home). It was not particularly flavorful, as I am used to a hint of lime/spice. It was improved by the red sauce they offer. The chocolate baklava cheesecake was ok. Not very chocolatey and it only had a top crust of baklava, so it didn’t evoke any of the classic baklava flavors either. The plates were pretty much all the same (except for the toppings in each). The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. They don’t have any dressing or seasonings on it so if you like that, then you should add some of their white sauce. The chicken had a nice outer texture from the grill and was juicy but pretty flavorless. For a middle eastern restaurant, I expected some sumac or Zaatar or 7 spice - not just salt and pepper. The toppings are nothing special - raw onions, green bell peppers, jarred jalapeño, or briney chopped olives. It wasn’t bad, but nothing special enough to return to.

Food is so tasty! Small area for seating. Prices and portion size were decent. Will come back!!!

What’s not to like about Guys? The food is absolutely amazing—everything I’ve tried has been delicious and fresh. The service is top-notch; everyone is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel welcome. On top of that, the restaurant is always spotless, which I really appreciate. I don’t even mind traveling about 45 minutes just to eat here because it’s that worth it. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out!

I had an amazing experience at The Halal Guys in Davie! The food was fresh, flavorful, and served hot just how I like it. But what truly made my visit stand out was the exceptional service from Rene. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, from helping with my order to making sure I was satisfied with my meal. His friendly attitude and attention to detail gave true five-star service. Shoutout to Rene for making my visit so enjoyable I’ll definitely be coming back!

Update 5/29/25 The owner and manager for this location gave us exceptional customer service. The experience we had going back was day and night from our previous outing. Food was fresh and great and the team working was attentive and friendly. As soon as we walked in, all the employees were hanging out in the corner and looked annoyed when we walked in (no customers were inside when we got there). No greetings, … just a glare of annoyance. We placed our usual orders, and the guy taking our order kept asking us ridiculous questions repeatedly because he wasn’t listen/paying attention to our order. We come here quite often but seems like they have new team members? White sauce was super oily and tasted just like mayo (the white sauce is definitely different from before). The bowl was filled with lettuce and maybe a few tablespoons of rice - barely any rice and protein in the bowl. How does a place increase the price of the food and then pull back on portion size/ingredients? Quite ridiculous. To say the least, disappointed taking a 25 min drive to eat plain lettuce and rice with mayo. And to the manager/owner, please don’t respond saying sorry. Doesn’t help. Do better for your customers.

The Halal Guys have been around for years, and if you're a New Yorker, you know all about street meat, especially chicken over rice. They've won many Food Network foodie awards, and back in the day when I lived in NY, this was the ultimate late night meal after a long night of clubbing. Their most famous location at 53rd St. and 6th Ave., right in front of the Hilton Hotel, had lines wrapped around the block for hours, all night long. It's pure nostalgia for NYC nightlife. When I moved to Florida and found out there was a location nearby, I had to check it out. My go to order is always a mix over rice with extra white and hot sauce. I've visited the restaurant a few times, but on this particular day, I decided to DoorDash. The food arrived hot, and this time, I went for just chicken over rice, still loaded with white and hot sauce. The flavors were spot on, the rice was well seasoned, and the chicken was moist and packed with flavor. I also tried the baklava cheesecake and hibiscus lemonade, both great choices, but the real star here is the chicken over rice platter. This will always be my go to after a long night (especially one with plenty of drinks). It's simply a must and brings back all my NYC memories!

I recently visited the Halal Man Shawarma shop in my neighborhood, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The aroma of the sizzling meat and spices filled the air as soon as I walked in, making my mouth water in anticipation. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap, and it did not disappoint. The tender and flavorful chicken was perfectly seasoned and paired wonderfully with the fresh vegetables and creamy garlic sauce. The portion size was generous, offering great value for the price. The staff at the Halal Man Shawarma shop were friendly and welcoming, providing quick service without compromising on quality. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot to enjoy a quick meal or grab a bite to eat with friends. Overall, I highly recommend the Halal Man Shawarma shop for anyone looking for delicious and authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. I will definitely be returning to try more items from their menu in the future.

Yelp
Eating at The Halal Guys feels like a nostalgic trip back to my hometown, New York City. This culinary concept began as humble food carts in Manhattan, serving busy workers during lunch and dinner hours. The food was so good that lines stretched down the block, leading to their expansion into food trucks and eventually now restaurant locations. The best part? The flavor remains just as amazing as I remember. My go-to order is the combo platter with chicken and beef. It never disappoints. While this location is primarily a takeout spot, they do offer indoor and outdoor seating if you prefer to dine in. Parking is convenient and free in the shopping plaza. Pro-tip: Be cautious with the red sauce. It's seriously spicy! One line gives a mild kick, two lines add noticeable heat, three lines are for spice lovers, and four lines? That's a four-alarm blaze! Proceed with caution!

Yelp
I got falafel, they informed me it would be a 3-minute wait for the falafel. That's totally fine, but then they rushed me through the line to pay for my meal before it was even ready. I just stood there waiting to select my toppings but the employee said she'd let me know when it's ready. By the time it was ready and they were asking for my toppings, I said I wanted hummus on my sandwich and the guy making my sandwich said he couldn't give it to me. When I asked why, he said he couldn't add hummus because I already paid for my meal. I even offered to pay separate for it, but he said there's no way he could do it. Really disappointed as that was the only topping I wanted. As I'm halfway through eating my meal, I looked up at the menu and saw that hummus was a side. Now, common sense would be that if I'm offering to pay for the hummus on the side, you'd give me the side of hummus and assume I'm willing to pay extra (even though it's literally their fault that they didn't ask if I wanted my toppings before I paid). Anyways, I ended up getting the hummus side and paid more than double what I should've just to have hummus on my sandwich. Please do better, Halal Guys. I've never seen worse customer service.

Yelp
Has been a hit or miss for me. I ordered from Uber eats and rhe first time it was perfect portions . The second time it was mostly lettuce and very little of anything else. They are generous with the sauces though When I've gone to the actual restaurant it's a Fast casual vibe with tasty food and servcie has always been nice

Yelp
Amazing gyro and falafel shop in the Tower Shops in Davie, FL. First time here and met with the very friendly and professional manager, Fariyal, who provided us nice sized samples of their specialties. She informed us that the beef gyro and the spicy bbq chicken are their top sellers both around $12.00 for good portions. Several customers were piling into the shop late afternoon. The pita with hummus was great as a light snack. I liked that the menu was small and easy to navigate. A small menu is easy to keep product fresh. My favorite meal was the Spicy bbq chicken with a medium heat level. We are definately coming back here to order a large spicy bbq chicken with a beef gyro. The Halal Guys have been at this location for seven years strong. Love the outside patio are with the umbrellas. The bathroom was clean too. Great product and great management. Giving this visit a strong 4.5 stars and hope to upgrade on my next visit or maybe use their catering for a small party.

Yelp
The portions has significantly decreased recently. They used to pack the bowl with rice and chicken and not it's barely anything. If you ask for a little more, they up charge $1 for rice and $4 for chicken. It's not what it used to be. Not worth the cost anymore

Yelp
Sadly, there isn't a Halal Guys in Miami but my husband and I like to make a special pit stop here as a treat on the way back from visiting family on the west coast. We've been long-time fans of the Halal Guys since we first tried it living in Texas and have had it in multiple locations around the country ?including the original truck in NYC). We find it pretty consistent flavor and quality-wise. This location in Davie is definitely one of the cleanest locations with very helpful staff. Fariyal (sorry if spelling incorrect!) always greets us with a cheerful smile and is very helpful with our orders. I am a spice-addict and love loading up on the red sauce - it's legit spicy and not for the faint of heart! This is what impresses me the most because most American chains that label stuff spicy don't ever seem to be truly spicy for me. It never fails when I go and ask for 10+ lines of the red sauce that the staff member pauses and looks at me to ask if I've tried it before. Even though we go so few times to this location, they seem to remember me I guess because I always order a psycho amount of this sauce! Probably if you've never tried it, you should really just do 1-2 lines or even get it on the side. On our latest visit, we went to try the new spicy bbq chicken and honey sriracha falafel. I loved the bbq chicken since it's a great mix of spicy and sweet (I always add bbq sauce anyways to my bowl...that might admittedly be part of how I'm able to eat so much red sauce). The falafel were made fresh and were crispy and not greasy but still a nice soft texture inside. When ordering, we went to use my husband's birthday coupon for a free platter. Unfortunately, it didn't work since we didn't realize it couldn't be applied to a special platter like this limited edition spicy bbq one. My husband had already activated it unfortunately and we were going to throw in the towel, but Fariyal had a brilliant idea for us to just separately order a normal platter to apply the coupon and take it home! She even offered to pack the veggies and sauces separately and have it waiting for us after we finished our meal in-store. So helpful! We will definitely continue to make this our pit stop on the way back into town!

Yelp
First time trying this place and it was amazing!! I am not sure why the business doesn't have that many stars in Yelp. I ordered a beef gyro and it was great. Their unique hot sauce is also wonderful. Thank you!

Yelp
I stopped by here for a quick lunch because I was starving. I used to eat at the original Halal Guys truck all the time when I lived in nyc and loved it so the reviews had me a bit nervous but the food was good! I got the small chicken bowl and of course my daughter wanted some when I got home. Even with sharing with her it was plenty filling. I would have preferred real lamb but they only do beef gyro here. Overall totally worth the $11 and the white sauce still slaps!

Yelp
I had planned to go to Trader's Joe and I got hungry. I knew this place had the best fries and since I was craving their fries I had to stop by. Faria (I might have spelled her name wrong) was amazing. She was patient, kind, and just overall attentive and helpful. I went for the fries and I wanted to try something different while I was there. I had the halal bowl with gyro and chicken. The fries are hands down the best fries I have ever tasted. I believe they cook the fries in a special type of oil. It is not greasy at all. There is a light aftertaste which I love. It just makes me want to go back for more. I took pictures of the fries in my car because I knew I would finish the fries before I got home. 1000/10. Love it! Gyro bowl was really delicious. Making the bowl is just like Chipotle and you pick what you like. I took Faria's advice and she was right about everything. Gyro was fresh and all the other add-on was a perfect blend. 10/10 I also had the pomegranate lemonade. So refreshing and light. It was not overwhelmingly sweet. I finished that drink so fast, I contemplated if I should go back and get another. My only negative is I wish the cup was bigger. 10/10 Overall, this foodie experience was fantastic. I love the service and the food was great quality and tasted amazing. Highly encourage others to check them out!

Yelp
1-25-23 l: Management responded with some generic message and I want them to hear me loud and clear. THIS PLACE SUCKS!! FOOD IS AWFUL! MANAGEMENT IS WORSE! 1-24-23: Life is too short to eat shitty food. I rarely write a bad review, but this place merits that and then some. I almost went back inside and showed them what they could do with their food after I paid and tried it. I opted for a platter, and got their chicken shawarma. The chicken was dried up and shriveled! It didn't taste like anything but dried up sawdust. They filled my "bowl" with lettuce and tomato and I said give me all your veggies in my bowl. All the veggies were those two plus some dice up onions and some sliced jalapeños. They asked what sauce I wanted and showed me a white "sauce". I asked what's in it, the girl said some spices and mayo. I asked if they had any yogurt sauce and they looked at me like I was insane. What kind of "halal" place doesn't have at least one yogurt sauce?? It's BS IS WHAT IT IS!! She offered a garlic "sauce" that could have been watered mayo. It's tasted like nothing! I ordered the baba ganoush and I don't know who told them that's what it is. Initially it tasted like mush, and then at the end you got some smokiness. No complexity of flavors, ni garlic, no acid and WTF is that bullshit red thing they put in it that doesn't add anything in terms flavor and actually detracts. I ended up eating 3 bites and threw the entire thing out and walked over next door to another restaurant. There goes $20 I will never get back. Don't waste your time, money or energy. Life's too short to eat this garbage. I hope the owners read this and take action otherwise this pace will close soon.

Yelp
Yum! As a New Yorker that has eaten chicken and rice from NYC too many times to count I was so excited to visit the halal guys in Davie! Now there is no comparison but the food was pretty good. I'll have to come back for their chicken - this particular day I ate their siracha falafel with rice and white sauce. The person behind the counter wanted to charge me extra for a little more rice - none of this would happen in NYC because their servings are massive, never stingy! Their mint lemonade was very good. I really liked their outside seating area and signature red and yellow decor.

Yelp
As a foodie, for years I've heard about this spot being big up north (NY) so I was super excited to try it since I saw there was one that opened near me. I ordered the falafel and chicken sandwich. I got it with white and red sauce. Also ordered a side of French fries. Sigh. The chicken was bland. Tasted like boiled chicken that had been chopped up. The red sauce was super spicy which I liked and the falafel was decent. You ever anticipate a meal and then get it and you are actually upset because it's so bad. That was this meal. I've eaten gyros on many occasions and this was by far the worse. Fries were nothing special. They're just frozen crinkled fries that they fry up. Not fresh cut potatoes like 5 Guys or Wingstop and for $14, with no drink you would expect more. I truly hope this is not the standard of the other locations and if so I don't see this chain lasting for years to come. Wouldn't recommend or come here again. There are far better options.

Yelp
Friendly service and quality food. Tasted just like NYC. I would definitely visit again if in the area.

Yelp
I would like to start off by saying that Fariyal is amazing at what she does. She is by far the nicest person I've ever met. She is always very welcoming and kind. One time I came in and I was going through a lot and she noticed something wasn't right and she told me if I needed to talk she was there for me, and that she was. She was very understanding, caring and supportive, even though she didn't even know me. She definitely deserves all the praising and all the gratitude for not only her work at the restaurant, but for who she is as a person. Sadly, I'm not leaving a review only about her. I am leaving a review because today I had a really bad incident with one of the employees here. The image lf the lady in the image above is not fariyal, this lady was very rude to me today, I came in and asked ifFariyal was there, as sometimes I come inside to get food and to have a little chat with her, and sometimes if I dont see her, I ask the employees if she is present. I asked this lady in the picture if Fariyal was there and she very rudely told me why do you keep asking if Fariyal is here just get your food and get the hell out of here. she ended up cursing at me and not only that, but she started degrading me talking about my appearance, my weight and so on. No matter what, nobody should ever speak to somebody like this. This incident makes me never want to come back to the restaurant again! It was so bad that I started crying and another employee had to hug me and comfort me. Nobody should feel like they cannot come to a restaurant because they were bullied and degraded by an employee. I hope that whoever is in charge here takes action because this lady should not be working here. And to end on a positive note i really hope you guys tell Fariyal how amazing she is! Overall, this restaurant is amazing, the food is awesome, and if you happen to get greeted by Fariyal, you are in for a treat!

Yelp
I absolutely love love love halal guys! The food is always soo so delish! The service is always consistently good. I live in NC and I wish we had one there! LOVE me a combo platter with extra white sauce!

Yelp
Sadly, they didn't include spicy sauce. It was the reason I ordered from this place. Very disappointed.

Yelp
I use to go to this place when it was in ny but when I came here I was excited that it came down to Florida but everything was different the taste the quantity and the prices of everything is a lot higher than what it's normally in ny. Everything was less quantity I got the regular size thinking it will be the same as the one I use to get when I lived in ny for 6 dollars but here is 9 plus tax. Not too satisfy with the food. The flavor isn't the same the food is bland and they barely give any food.

Florin A.

Yelp
I been in the and I asked for chicken shawarma to eat in but they made to go I took it went out I try to eat but was testing horrible I couldn't eat

Yelp
I have no idea why this place has 3 stars. The service was awesome, store was clean, service was quick and easy and the food was great. You can't miss, and make sure you get extra white sauce, it's the best part! Also beware of their red sauce. That's SPICCCCY!!
google avatar

Zee A.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with halal guys. Especially if your a northerner. This place definitely gave me nostalgic vibes. I always get the same thing, combo platter, extra rice and protein with lists of white and hot sauce. The flavors are pretty much standard across most of the ones I've been to and what you would expect at any Halal Guys. The service could've been a little better, the staff was slow and not very attentive even though there was only one other customer in their establishment.
google avatar

Diloshi K.

Yelp
The food was really good. Reminded me of California. The chicken and gyro was well seasoned the sauces were great. I was actually very impressed with the quality and taste.
google avatar

Yelp
I was in the area and wanted to try some falafel and came upon Halal Guys. I ordered the larger platter with falafel and the meal was very filling! I also ordered a pita bread on the side to make a sandwich along with the bowl. The falafel was really good and was flavored really well. The rice was also really good. The only issue's at this place were that there were limited topping options and the spicy sauce was REALLY spicy. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a nice falafel meal, but I would suggest getting two pita's on the side as they really enlarge the portion of the meal.
google avatar

Monica G.

Yelp
Second time trying Halal Guys, first time was recently while in Vegas. Halal Guys happens to be open during the social distancing period so we decided to eat here again while we happened to be in this plaza. I ordered the small Gyro platter that comes with Gyro meat, lettuce, tomato, yellow rice and 3 small pita slices. Additionally you can add the white sauce or the hot sauce on top. I love both even the though the hot sauce is extremely spicy, I just love the flavor. The small size is good for one person, personally I think the large would be too much unless you want leftovers. We also ordered a gyro wrap that my daughter enjoyed, same thing I got except wrapped up in a pita. Halal Guys does not have many options but it's one of those places where you crave a gyro or a certain flavor and you go back. It's also affordable $8-$10 pp.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
I'm absolutely shocked at how awful this place is! I wouldn't feed this to my dog. I've been eating high quality food from our regular spots for years. Pita Plus. Pita Pita, Sunrise Pita. All AAA establishments. This was not edible. Ordered the chicken plate. The chicken didn't even taste like chicken. It was worse than the pre made bags they sell at Publix. They dumped a whole bag of shredded cheedar cheese in there, which doesn't even go with this food. The White sauce tasted like mayo and was served in a pouch, like ketchup? Disgusting! Please avoid this place at all costs. They should be closed down immediately.

Yelp
I had been wondering about this place every time I went into Trader Joes, and finally decided to call in an order to pick up. It was easy to order on my phone and when I went to pick it up, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. It was packed well and still hot when I got home. I ordered the small beef Gyro platter ($11.49) that comes with Gyro meat, shredded lettuce, diced tomato's, yellow rice and 3 small pita slices as well as 1 white and 1 red sauce. I thought it would be like a normal gyro sandwich on rice (which I usually love) at other restaurants. It was supposed to be, but while the portion of meat and rice was generous, unfortunately the gyro meat was very dry and did not have much flavor. The yellow rice also was bland and I didn't like the white or red sauce. I wish there had been tzatziki sauce offered as an option. I did not finish it. So I was disappointed in the overall flavor of the platter. Would I come back again? Probably not. There is the Gyro Grille and Gyroville ( a bit better) very close in Davie/Plantation and 20 minutes away in Coral Springs is Hellenic Republic which is awesome!

Auni M.

Yelp
I often stop by The Halal Guys Davie. I love the food and service. Special shoutout to Qadeer and Fariyal. They both are amassing and super friendly. Take really good care of the customers and make sure everyone leaves the store happy and with a smile. Highly recommended! And a big THANK YOU to Qadeer and Fariyal. You guys are the BEST.. Cheers!

Yelp
A friend and I met at Halal Guys for lunch and really enjoyed our food. The place is small but perfect for what they do. I remember having their food when I was in New York and was excited to see them opening in South Florida! I always order the small platter with basmati rice, lettuce, tomatoes, chicken (you have other choices), a few pieces of pita bread and I added Kalamata olives. You do have a choice to add sauces but I do not eat sauces so I'm not sure what's good. However; I did add a side of fried Falafel which are so good. It's not for everyone but if you already like falafel then order it. I like that they fry those to order. Mmmmm delicious! I really enjoy the combination of my small platter, food amount is sufficient, great value and it's very filling. If you're around one and like a mix of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors you should check it out. I'll definitely be back time and time again. Thanks Halal Guys!

Yelp
My first visit to this chain was years ago in New York on the side of the road in a long line with snow drifting about. Trust me it was worth the wait. Fast forward to present day and they're in South Florida, how exciting! This is just one of their South Florida locations, in Davie. There are a few others. While this doesn't have the grit of the street it still has the flavor. Also the perks of being sheltered from the weather indoors lol. Although I'd like to see a bit more of those raw veggies tossed on top Halal Guys has managed to maintain their quality with the expansion. We were a group of three that ordered a traditional gyro platter, a chicken platter, and my favorite the falafel platter. We all received a pita slice rolled in foil, fresh salad on top, and of course the sauce packets. The food was delicious and the staff members were polite but still worked quickly to get orders out and clear the line .

Yelp
So I went back today after spending some time away (prob over a year).. secretly hoping that the weird negative memory I had of their food was unwarranted. Unfortunately, that was not the case. They have a very streamlined menu here, which in my opinion leaves even less room for any error. They offer either wraps or rice based bowls with falafel, gyro meat, or chicken. Today I tried the gyro meat bowl. It was primarily rice, with shredded lettuce, diced tomatos, and the meat on top. I REALLY think this place could benefit from a few more topping choices. They then pile the meat on top (a very generous portion) and place a few pieces of pita on the side. I decided to just go with the white sauce on top- they only have white or red sauce. The meat was DRY. So dry. Honestly, even with copious amounts of sauce it was so dry that it just made for a very MEH meal. The pita also had a kind of weird taste to it. I watched the girl dig around for the pieces she put on my bowl, so i'm not sure exactly what was going on there. The staff (the lady who made my bowl and the gentleman operating the cash register) were nice. However, nothing can compensate for such lackluster food. I've decided I won't be back.

Yelp
Ellie was so nice! We had a large party come in right before close and they still took us and even whipped up some meat for some of us. It was fast and delicious! I love a friendly face when I go to restaurant too and was won over by halal guys!

Yelp
I ran here on my lunch break because I had a hankering for some falafels and this was the only place that had order ahead, pick-up. I ordered a falafel platter with olives - the olives were an additional charge. Fortunately before leaving I checked my bag before leaving and saw that they didn't include the olives... super glad I checked on that. The meal in itself was okay. The falafels didn't have its usual flavor of spices and herbs so I was a little disappointed. The lettuce and tomato was fresh. The rice was a little too dry for my preference but when you mixed the sauces and lettuce and tomato together, it improved.

Yelp
Honestly can't ask for much more from this place. We wanted to try halal guys for the first time but the other reviews ALMOST tricked us into not going, thank god we did. The place was clean, service was VERY fast and everyone there was perfectly friendly. Our falafels were made to order, everything tasted excellent (fries included) after driving 45 minutes to drive home and eat. Not sure what everyone else's experience was, as I'm just visiting from out of town, they had issues with my coupon (in app deal on my phone) however.... and just gave me free food when the coupon didn't work. Don't listen to the other reviews, go here, it's awesome.

Yelp
Excellent service! We walked in 5 mins before they were closing and instead of turning us away (there was 8 of us) Ellie took the time to make sure we were taken care of. They only had beef and falafels but she told us that she can cook up chicken if we wanted. I know usually people will turn away customers when they are closing but everyone inside were very friendly and the food was great! Will be back to this location for sure!

Yelp
Halal guys let me tell you my review of this restaurant. I ordered a large chicken and beef bowl. It came with the protein, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, pita bread, and sauce. The protein was seasoned well and the beef had all different types of meat. I believe that there was sausage and beef. The white sauce complements the overall meal. They pour the white sauce over and they ask you when you want to stop. You also have the option to add hot sauce. Keep in mind that the hot sauce is HOT. They will ask you how much lines you want. I asked for one and it was perfect. The other topping were bland, they could have added some seasoning to them. The option to add more toppings would also be nice. Overall the food was good, but it was not served as hot and fresh as I would like it to be.

Yelp
I haven't tried the platters, but I really enjoy the falafel sandwich. I think it's pretty good, I just wish the rice was more seasoned and maybe some more topping options. The white sauce tastes really good as well. The place seems clean, but the employees could be a bit more organized. I haven't tried the meat as I'm a vegetarian but I've heard it's good.

Yelp
So the very much anticipated NYC Halal Food street cart has sold their brand and opened a chain of fast food restaurants. This is an interesting idea, but the two do NOT compare. Living in NYC, my husband and I frequented this food cart. It was delicious, amazing, life-changing, etc. However, I just don't think their brand translates well from the street cart to the fast food concept. The flavor here is just not on point. Each time, I've ordered the combo platter. It's rice, iceburg lettuce, and tomato, topped with both chicken and beef gyro meat. You can opt for white sauce and/or hot sauce striped on top- but beware- that hot sauce is HOT. It doesn't have a lot of flavor, but instead just a lot of heat! I love heat, but since this lacks flavor, it's not my favorite. Service on my last visit was not good at all. The older lady behind the counter just kept asking me over and over about my order. I kept reminding her i was the platter and the sandwich. On the sandwich, she asked if i wanted onions. I said NO. She then began to sprinkle them on top. I reminded her that I said NO while she was doing it. She just looked at me, stopped, tried to wipe some off, and when she couldn't get them all off, she just put the sandwich down and off to the side and took the next customer! Awkward! The manager guy told her to listen better to the orders, but no one offered to fix this. Would we come back? Ehhh, maybe if in the area and in need of a quick bite. But honestly, with all of the other choices nearby, our return seems unlikely!

Yelp
We've been trying all the local Middle Eastern restaurants falafel sandwiches. This place did not measure up. I spent almost $20 for 2 falafel sandwiches and a beverage. Each sandwich only had 3 falafel balls and tons of lettuce and tomato. Basically a salad on a pita with a hint of falafel. I was also asked if I wanted some humus on it for $1 extra. Most every other falafel sandwich I've had included some humus. Needless to say I will not be back! When I lived in NYC I had some amazing Falafel at Mamoons in the village, Sunshine in Union Sq and Wafas in Brookly. I continue going to Sunrise Pita across University Drive it's much better.

Yelp
The halal guys concept is like any other place nowadays that does the bowl concept with proteins. I think chipotle is a 4 star, so to be honest this is at most 3.5 When you come in you either select whether you want a regular portion, or large portion. It's about 1.50 difference. 8.49 (reg), 9.99 (large). To be honest, regular hits the spot for me. Then you select whether you want just chicken, beef, or the combination (gyro and chicken, most popular). I got the combo. Next, they ask if you want lettuce and tomato. Later on you'll receive a piece of pita which is prob the best thing about the bowl... at the end, you can choose if you want onions and peppers.. white, red or bbq sauce The white and red sauce go great with the bowl. But don't overdo it. The rice is a bit dry, but the protein may offset that. The color scheme of the place is red and yellow so I thought that was pretty cool. And the staff looked like they didn't wanna work there. But they were friendly...

Yelp
We are in town for vacation and I noticed The Halal Guys were close so we ordered in some. I'm from NYC so I've had the Original Halal Guys food from the cart so I had really high expectations. I was disappointed. The rice in my wife's falafel platter was dry and sort of an anemic portion size. My platter was a little better but overall not to the same quality as the one from the cart. I understand it's a chain now but there should be some standardization of quality when you put your name on something. We're not from the area but I assume there are better halal spots around here.

Yelp
NOT AUTHENTIC! Don't waste your time. THIS IS NOT REAL HALAL FOOD! Meat is cheap and no flavor. Rude Server, cheap with the portions. White sauce isn't good like real halalal food. Pitas are stale. NOT WORTH THE CALORIES!

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time. Staff was really friendly, food was fresh and it was put together swiftly. Food was good. I got the small platter. I would definitely go back.

Yelp
I love Halal Guys! The guy who started first was very nice. My sister asked if she can do half beef and half falafel, he asked his manager, just Incase for us, and told us yes! He made sure he got what we wanted and asked if we any other fried food like fries or more falafel so he could fry them the same time (time and cooking efficient). They gave us a good amount of white sauce and the manager even asked us if we want more white sauce when we were half way eating. The chicken and the beef were seasoned well and not dry. The falafels was not over cooked and was crispy. I really like them. I noticed most halal guys locations don't really ask much if you want green bell peppers and/or onions after they put the meat and pita in the bowl. You have to ask if they can do it. Do the rewards because if you get fries on the first purchase and get so many rewards if you keep coming! I had 5 free drinks, I was going to use them for the heck out of it but the manager told me if I want to save them, it can add up to a free platter. I didn't know that, I'm so glad she told me. I'm gonna save up more! This location is a bit smaller so don't expect fit a big group inside if it's busy. I would sit outside or somewhere else. The staff and atmosphere were great! I would love to come again!

Yelp
This place is horrible, who eats here? The pita was hard and stale, the beef was dried out. C'mon it's 3:16 pm in the afternoon on a Friday and this is the freshest you could conjure up? This place is one and done, I never ate here before and I don't intend on eating here again!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Halal Guys. I ordereded delivery. Flavors are OK, white sauce is really weird. Basically Mayo. I would not suggest ordering hummus... as you can see it was barely a spoonful. They only gave me three small pieces of pita bread so I couldn't even make a full meal out of this. Won't be ordering again.

Yelp
Ellie was the sweetest! She took us a party of 8 right before close and made us extra meat! Amazing food and amazing service.

Yelp
I love halal guys. I've been to the original in New York but it's great to have so many locations near now

Yelp
There was one lady that was running the show and I wish I would've noticed her name. Nobody else seemed to understand what I was saying. My falafel was good and crunch but the pita bread was undercooked and crumbled away while I was eating it. The sauce wasn't Tahini or Tzatziki-- it tasted like watered down mayonnaise and/or ranch. There's hardly any topping options-- and the hummus is sold as a separate item. I spent $30 for two sandwiches and two sodas; it was a rip off. The chicken looked wet and dead, the gyro meat looked pale and dry. Very disappointed. Would never go back again.

Yelp
We love the beef and chicken. It is seasoned well. Everything is great and well made. Service is wonderful and helped with choices

Yelp
I hate to wait in long lines, so I waited for the lines to die down. First time here and I was impressed by the taste of their food. I got 2 combos. The taste of the gyro and chicken was to die for. I could literally eat there every day for the next year. It's that good. Now I'm hooked on this place. The service is good and the staff is friendly. Can't wait to go again.
