"New York food-cart institution the Halal Guys has brought its chicken and rice over garlicky white sauce to Dearborn Heights. The menu at the local brick-and-mortar is the same as all of the franchise’s other locations, including its original site in New York City. It’s the first of four stores planned for the area, a company spokesman says. The second is planned for 1043 Woodward in midtown Detroit. Dearborn Heights customers can order beef gyro, chicken and falafel sandwiches and platters, as well as sides of hummus and baba ghanoush, and baklava for dessert." - Monica Williams

My husband and his co workers tried this place the other day and loved it. So, we decided to give it a try today. I never want to give a bad review but, save your $. It was so gross. I ordered the chicken gyro. The chicken was so dry and looked like chopped up dog food. My question, is about the chicken. …. It appears to be dark meat. How in the world do you dry out dark chicken? That takes talent. 🤦🏻‍♀️The “famous white sauce “ had no taste either. I looked at the ingredients and it’s just watery mayonnaise. The pita wasn’t warmed, nor was it fresh. They charge you extra for the sauce, which comes in a large salad dressing package. 80 cents? You need the mayonnaise sauce to try and rehydrate the chicken. I will never go back again. I wonder if the people who love this place actually have tastebuds? I had to wait until my husband left the room to cover it up and act like I ate it. I would have rather spent my money elsewhere. So many great establishments next door or across the street. Sorry. Yes! The “We are different” is very true. If that’s different, I don’t want it. 🤔

This Halal Guys location is very consistent with their cart in New York! I enjoyed the fact that they had different bowl sizes, and gave you the option of adding more toppings! I added jalapeños to mine. The line was moving pretty fast because they had a lot of workers. Overall, consistent and good!

The food is amazing , especially the white sauce.. always been wondering why halal guys have not made it to detroit before given that the largest middle eastern community resides here.. the flavour is explicit and made me feel nostalgic and took me back to the memory of my first time having this platter back in new york.. the falafel is extra crispy and yummy.. the service is fast and menu is quick and short. Would definitely come back.

Finally made it out to this spot after all the hype of social media like fb, IG, YouTube and Twitter. Right off the bat, this food gave me sajj Mediterranean vibes from the West Coast, California. Now onto the food, menu is quite simple and basic. You have beef or chicken, wraps or bowls tummeric rice, assortment of veggies and soda drinks from a soda machine. This location is new and recently as of 2021. I didn't get a chance to make it out to their opening but getting my shot now. Ordered a beef n chicken combo with rice, pita bread, tomatoes, olives and their famous white rice. First thoughts after first bite, not bad but I didn't see the major hype. Keep in mind, I have a very calibrated taste to any Mediterranean food and my standards are high..so I call it how it is. Not to say the food was horrible but I didn't see the mega hype you hear online. Prices are on par for this type of food with Chipotle style of selection..fun fact, Chipotle is next door..lol The service was quick, they have indoor seating, take out and services like door dash plus plentiful parking. The place was very clean which is a big deal for me. Overall, as my first time I had a solid experience but slightly above average in the food department just not like wow'd

The quantity is lesser compared to what you get in New York but the taste is the same… initially they were giving very less white and hot sauce… but recently when I visited they gave us the whole bottle of sauce for dine in

Today Sept 17 2021 I drove from Akron Ohio to this location that took me over 3 hrs. Well worth the drive. Halal Guys is my favorite place to eat when I go to Manhattan but since I haven’t been there in two years due to the pandemic this was my best option. The location was clean, the staff were nice an I was in and out under five minutes.

Food was good but for the surrounding area, lots of places trump this. Chicken was okay. Rice was bland. My favorite part was the gyro meat, had a lot of flavor especially with the white sauce.
