Good food fast. Atmosphere could be warmer. But food is good, and they're generous on the protein, so 4 stars.

Halal Guys in Rockville, MD, is hands-down one of my favorite spots for a satisfying and flavorful meal. The combo platter with chicken and gyro is the ultimate comfort food, loaded with juicy meat, fluffy rice, fresh veggies, and that legendary white sauce (seriously, I could drink the stuff). Pro tip: Go easy on the red sauce—it’s fire! The portions are super generous, so you get great value for your money. The pita is always soft and warm, and everything tastes fresh. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick, even during busy times. Whether you’re grabbing a bite after work or fueling up for the weekend, Halal Guys always delivers. Don’t sleep on their baklava for dessert—it’s the perfect sweet ending!

This location is inferior to Germantown halal guys. Germantown is always fresh and taste better overall. 4 stars for 4 reasons 1. Good beef and rice is done just right. 2. Price! Is really good for what you get! 3. A lot of food for what you pay. 4. Fast service Minus 1 star because the chicken just doesn’t taste all that good. Maybe it’s left out for longtime because due to lack of customers, but I could be wrong.

Google
Food was amazing, I had the rice salad and spicy chicken. Great price my kids loved it. Definitely going back.

Food is extremely delicious, cheap and hot! Prices are very cheap, attention by employees 5 stars. Place always looks clean, easy parking in front. You’ll have your food in your hands in less than 3 min. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Food wasn’t ready even I arrived 15 minutes late. They forgot to make my order and make excuse that they were busy but I saw one customer wait for food. I ordered my food at app by 45 minutes advance but they didn’t make it. They didn’t apologize and asked me to take spicy bbq chicken instead since chicken and beef that order for plate. They asked to wait 10 minutes to make the food. I arrived 15 minutes late but they asked me wait 10 minutes. They didn’t prepare my food because they forgot about it. The guy didn’t remember that he have to prepare my food. Owner refused to apologize and refused to give refund to me. He tolds me to cancel the order at App that I can’t do since it was passed the time that I requested food to be ready. They were so rude and unprofessional for their jobs to prepare one beef and chicken plate. I have to wait 25 minutes extra that I ordered the food at 8:07pm to pick up the food by 8:45pm. They refused to give refund and told me to cancel the order at Halal Guys app that I can’t cancel. The owner was more rude than employees.

Food is super delicious. The servers were all very friendly and quick. We saw about 15 people in line and wanted to leave but took a chance and was worth It! We got our turn in less than 15mins. Small place though, so don't expect a quiet meal and conversation.

Google
Good location, clean place, welcoming staff. But I was not impressed with my chicken gyro at all. It was a good portion, but very plain taste.

Yelp
Good food, fast service. Atmosphere could be warmer. But food is good, and they're generous on the protein, so 4 stars.

Yelp
Just the average halal chain. Nothing that would bring me back for a second time. The flavor was fine and the portion size also good, so no real complaints. I was totally co fused when ordering and the staff didn't really help with that . Just an fyi, Seating for any group over 4 is just not possible here.

Yelp
It is one of the best gyro places that I have ever been to. During lunchtime, there was not much traffic in the parking lot, which I found to be a plus for me. I found the store to be very clean and well organized, with a great selection of food and drinks to choose from. It was not overwhelming to order and made it easy for me to make a choice. I found the staff to be okay. They weren't very friendly but they weren't rude either. In addition to the food of the flavor being amazing, the portions of the food were very generous as well. Overall, it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. The service was adequate and the place was very clean and organized.

Lisa X.

Yelp
Great fast service. I ordered pickup via Uber eats and my order was ready for me when I walked through the door. I'm very happy with my order. I got the gyro, chicken and falafel platter. It was delicious. They hooked me up with plenty of white sauce and hot sauce packets. I even have more for another meal. I love that they also have white sauce easily accessible on the counter in a refrigerator for your convenience. This location is small with small indoor seating but it does the job. All the chopped vegetables tasted fresh. Quick and easy meal.

Yelp
I really needed something to eat late at night and also didn't feel like cooking. I decided to try out the Halal Guys after watching my colleague practically vacuuming up the food from earlier on. I appreciated how quickly the order was ready. Their food didn't disappoint! I am used to eating spicy food so I felt they were under-seasoned and bland. I preferred the chicken instead of gyro meat because I thought it tasted less gamey. I also loved their shawarmas. I wouldn't mind ordering again with just chicken. I would add extra cucumbers and tomatoes on my own. Perhaps some extra mint leaves. Their white sauce was delicious as well. Looking forward to ordering from them again. Rounding up a 3.5 to a 4 because of the otherwise solid service despite it nearly closing time and honoring my request of not adding lettuce.

Scott A.

Yelp
Decent kosher food. Mideastern vibe. Ordered it for takeout. The Shawarma was good. Seems decent for the price. I would recommend it.

Yelp
For the price, great food! I would recommend stopping in for a late bite. I was running late after work and it was one of the few spots open in the area

Lisa L.

Yelp
This was our first visit for carryout for a late night dinner at 9 pm on a Wednesday. It was not crowded. We tried the beef gyro for $9.99. This came with lettuce and tomato. Plus, it is optional to add onions, olives, green peppers, or hot peppers at no extra charge. It was a big sandwich and filling. However, the pita bread was not soft. The 2 employees were friendly. Next time, we will try the rice platters.

Dominic L.

Yelp
This might be my new go-to fast casual place in this area of Rockville. The portions are huge and the food is delicious. I generally order the platter. They give you a healthy helping of lettuce, tomato, rice, and chicken and/or beef. The white sauce can be added on the side. It's so good. Hummus is extra, fyi. I feel like I want to explore more of the menu, but the platter is just too good to pass up.

Joy B.

Yelp
It has been awhile, since I ordered from The Hallal Guys and I was in the area, so I stopped by. The counter helper was so nice, but my order fell short. First, of all I ordered felafel and somehow I ended up with chicken. To make things worse, the chicken was dull, dry, and overcooked. I asked for only a little rice and more salad, but somehow got a large serving of rice. The lettuce did not taste fresh. I was very disappointed. The side of hummus was very good. It was creamy and delicious. The pita bread was fresh and warm. I hope that The Hallal Guys can straighten out there issues. This location needs some help and attention. I hope they improve.

Yelp
The first time i had this was when i was living in new york. The Halal Guys on 14th St quickly became my post drinking spot on the weekends. The portions were always plentiful and the food was fresh. Once i moved out of the city i didnt think id experience this greatness again. Im glad to say i was wrong. The halal guys on rockville like slaps. Highly recommend

Daniela H.

Yelp
Not my favorite. Flavors are pretty bland, I missed the rich and tasty flavors halal foods usually have. The ingredients are pretty cheap, that tzatziki sauce tasted like anything but tzatziki, like if it was made with cornstarch but not with actual cream. I didn't like having whole olives inside the sandwich because it was difficult to eat but this could be just me! :-P The person serving food was rude and not so patient with new customers like me. Not going back.

Yelp
I'm a transplant from NY and knew about the Halal Guys from NY but never had a chance to try it. I decided to give this place a try. I came here on a Sunday. I got the Beef Gyro platter. I'd say the food was good. The bread was not warm though, but I would come back again.

Yelp
With Halal guys chain stores popping up left and right, it's time to be more selective in the location that you go to as not all halal guys are made equal. The biggest inconsistency at this location is the meat quality. The lamb and the chicken are sometimes significantly blander and dryer compared to other locations like the one in Gaithersburg, probably due to poor quality control here. I always love Halal guys but I seldom come to this location because it's a 50/50 chance I'm going to get delicious, juicy tender meat. I've had more luck at the Gaithersburg location. Other than that, I'm glad Halal guys is a chain as chicken and rice is staple for my comfort eats. I really just wished this location was more consistent since it's closer and more convenient to my home.

Ruba H.

Yelp
The food is not good , bland , not flavorful. This is not even close to the real thing. Not going to this place again.

Priscilla Y.

Yelp
I don't understand the craze with Halal Guys. I like that the original New York City cart was opened til really late and was a good option if you had the late night munchies, but nothing special. I ordered the chicken/gyro rice platter, which also came with lettuce, tomatoes, and pita. You can add as much or little red or white sauce as you want. The food was really greasy and the gyro meat was too salty. It's also pricey for what you're getting. And that white sauce that everybody raves about? It's just basically mayonnaise and black pepper. Nobody cleaned the tables when I went.

Issy C.

Yelp
This location is a lot better than the Tysons location, friendlier service and better portion sizes. Is it me or does halal guys taste better as leftovers? I got the chicken platter with extra tomatoes and lettuce and the lady serving me had no problem giving me more vegetables. Thank you nice lady :) Overall, will definitely keep coming back.

Kelly S.

Yelp
We had heard the lines have been long but we walked right up to the counter on Sunday afternoon! The entire staff was friendly and helpful as we studied the menu as it was our first time at The Halal Guys. I ordered the combo chicken and lamb platter and Dan had the gyro. The pita was fresh and the white sauce was delicious. The cashier talked us into the Baklava and we are so happy he did! We will be back soon! The restaurant is small so it might be better to take your meal for carry out. The have bottled and fountain sodas. A small fridge with extra sauce if you need it!

Paul S.

Yelp
Been eating at Halal Guys for many years and this is one of the better franchise locations. Not as good as the original carts in NYC that I remember, but few places around here have good chicken & rice. Usually get the combo platter or just chicken, and its packed with flavor. They pile on the rice and meat and you can top it with whatever you like, although some things come with a surcharge. They can cover it in white and red sauce to your taste; the hot sauce has a good bite to it, so if you can handle the heat, get more. I've had the baklava a few times, meh, I've definitely had better. People here are friendly/quick and seem more heavy-handed with the portions (some other locations I've been to measure the scoops like Columbia WTF). The app is also decent, although the old app from a few years ago used to make getting rewards a lot easier. Takes a lot longer to get a free platter now...

Yelp
Been here twice since they opened in February. First Visit in February: I went for their grand opening in February. I was one of the first 100 customers along with a friend. There was a bit of confusion on the deal we were getting. The owner or manager announced that we would be getting a free meal. I was going to get either a pita sandwich or small bowl, but because it was free, I got the large size bowl. I got the lamb with the tahini sauce along with rice & various other ingredients. It's like Chipotle or Cava in that you pick which ingredients you want in your bowl. When I got to the cash register, they handed me a card for free for NEXT time. I said that 'I wouldn't have gotten the large size; I don't need the large. I only got the large because I thought it was free this time. I didn't know it was for next time.' The manager apologized for the confusion and got the cashier to take it off, which was nice. I would've been ok if he had discounted it to the pita price. As for the taste, the lamb & bowl in general were tasty, but that tahini sauce was what really made this stand-out above and beyond a standard bowl meal that is simply pretty good and puts this in the excellent category. My friend & I were crammed in the corner in this small place, but it was the grand opening; so I knew it would be crowded regardless. We didn't want to eat randomly outside since it was drizzling and cool (although not cold by February standards). Second visit in March: So, I still had the Halal card, which needed to be registered, in order to get the free bowl. In addition, I had a free drink for signing up for the club. The expiration on the free bowl was the end of March, and the free drink was 30 days after signing up, which was like March 18th for me. I had Montgomery County work travel on Thursday, 3/15. So, I decided to stop here for lunch. I was done a little earlier than I thought and came here for a kind of early lunch around 11:45. I used my free large bowl (again getting the lamb) and the free drink. They were really nice and as I was eating the manager came by asking how everything is, which was nice, and said there was more the tahini sauce in the small glass refrigerator by the drinks. I said that I was good, but then a few minutes later added some more since it's so good. In spite of it only being 11:45 AM, there was only one seat for me in there. By noon, it was getting crowded. So, my recommendation is to either eat here at an off-time. Or be prepared to take this to go. If I had to, I would've eaten in my car, or if the weather had been nice, I would've eaten outside. Summary, great food & customer service, but small place not ideal for dining in. Overall, I hope to come back and actually pay for a bowl or sandwich sometime.

Charles M.

Yelp
Amazing food and good service. I will definitely come back here again and again the food was fresh and it came out so fast. I had just gotten my dog geo tagged and I didn't have time to sit and eat. I never leave my dog in the car so it was refreshing to be able to grab something quick and go. The portions were perfect and the sides were cooked perfectly.

Bob D.

Yelp
My first order as carryout and a question. While the favor was OK are any of their meat served less chopped up like mush?

Anna P.

Yelp
To be completely honest, I was quite disappointed: ordered a falafel bowl and afterwards felt like it was the greasiest thing I'd eaten in a while. The 'white' sauce was really, really oily. It tasted like mayo (I think it's supposed to be tahini). The falafel was very basic and greasy. Sides like humus and babaganoush cost extra. Like another reviewer said, the other sides (rice, lettuce, tomato) are very bland. Moreover, even though we came by late when the place was not busy and all the tables were empty, the interior looked dirty. All the tables had something disgusting on them--random pieces of food, etc. Customer service was not great either. While the first person to greet us was friendly (although it took him awhile to notice us, as he was totally engrossed in his phone) the others didn't even acknowledge us when we said bye on our way out. Honestly, you will get a MUCH better bang for your buck at a nearby Cava.

Kevin N.

Yelp
Glad to have finally gotten a Halal Guys in Montgomery County, and in Rockville of all places? I love it! For those who don't know about the hype, this store stems from a food cart from New York City that essentially is a Chipotle for Halal food. I've come multiple times, and have never been disappointed. I typically get the combo platter, which comes with chicken and beef gyro - it's enough food to make you feel like you never want to eat again. The meat is always very tender and packed full of flavor. The platter also comes with this nice rice that I think is buttered - very delicious. It'll also come with diced tomatoes and shredded lettuce, which help bring some balance to the otherwise fatty platter. You also get 4 slices of their pita flatbread, and it's so fluffy. It's the perfect compliment. You also get the chance to customize your bowl with some other toppings, such as diced green bell peppers, onions, cilantro, etc. At the end of customizing your bowl, you can top it off with sauce. They have their signature house white sauce, which is very creamy and delicious. However, I think people sleep on the BBQ sauce. I'll typically get both sauces on my bowl, and when you mix your bowl before you eat, something magical just happens with the sauces and the rice and meat. Not only does this spot serve up delicious halal food, it's one of the few places that's consistently open late night (even on weekdays) that isn't a bar. Sometimes I'll drop in at 11 pm on a weeknight to just grab dinner, and it's a very easy pick up compared to if I were trying to get any other food at that hour. The staff are usually pretty friendly, most of them seem to be college kids. Be sure to sign up for their rewards card too so you can rack up some free bowls the more you come.

Manoj V.

Yelp
Food Quality: 5/5 Ambiance:4/5 Staff Service:5/5 Good Price:5/5 Location:5/5 Recommended Deals *Get the Halal Guys app and rank up points to get freebies over time. * Two stripes of red hot sauce minimum. The food quality is way better than the food cart version of Halal Guys. Way cleaner. The ambiance was good. Staff service was friendly and professional. Location has plenty of parking. Great for quick food on the go. If you're thinking middle eastern food, this is the place to go!

Samantha L.

Yelp
The Halal Guys is fast casual restaurant that serves sandwiches and platters with chicken, beef gyro, and/or falafel and white and/or hot sauce. You have the option to add sides including hummus, baba ganouj, falafel, or fries to your order. For drinks, they have Coca Cola beverages and bottled beverages. During their 30th Anniversary week, I ordered three combo platters - two with chicken and gyro meat and one with chicken. Each platter consisted of orange colored rice, lettuce, tomato, kalamata olives, and a packet of their signature white sauce. I paid for extra sauce but wasn't given any. It wasn't as good as when I had it at The Halal Guys in Gaithersburg.

Eun P.

Yelp
I usually get the chicken and gyro (beef) combo platter here! The small and regular is only $1 difference, but if you don't have self control (like me) then go for the small as it's more than enough food and calories. I leave satisfied each time. FYI the red sauce is really spicy so if you can't do much spice, skip it! I like pretty spicy food but only get two lines of it. I do find the meats pretty salty, but the flavor is still really good and the vegetables and rice help balance it out.

Manu P.

Yelp
I was so thrilled to finally see a Halal guys restaurant in Maryland after the hyped food trucks at NYC. I have always loved to have gyros here. I would go all the way to NYC to have their food. I am so excited to discover that they are here. This is definitely a go to place when I am hungry and want to get here quite often. The options are just few and simple and the portion is huge.

Spencer P.

Yelp
First time having Halal guys was years ago in New York with their carts. So words couldn't really describe how great my first experience was. Couldn't wait for this location to open up. Went here a couple of times before deciding to review. Restaurant is fairly small but it's the next step up from their carts. Food is delicious. They even have a variety of different things such as baklava for dessert, French fries, and other sides. (Which New York carts do not) I would say go to New York to compare if you can. Customer service and staff for all the times I've visited was great. I definitely recommend halal guys.

Julianne B.

Yelp
I've been pretty obsessed with Halal Guys ever since I tried it at the Yelp's Got Game event. I wanted to try the Rockville location. I was not disappointed! The staff is so friendly and helpful, making jokes and making it seem like they really enjoyed being there. Charlie even came over while I was eating to check up on me. So great! I think I've found my new favorite food location!

Ashanti S.

Yelp
This was my first experience with Halal food and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The extra Baba Ganoush on top was *chefs kiss* would not recommend getting delivery as they will supplement items in place of what was ordered. I prefer a refund but the food was good! I got the mint lemonade to drink. A bit sweet for my liking but a solid drink.

Grace C.

Yelp
The workers here are super friendly and accommodating! They get you your food pretty fast and their tone is always so welcoming. The food here is also yummy. My personal favorite is getting the combo platter with chicken and gyro. It's like getting the best of both. Even after getting the food, they always say have a nice day with a smile. It's workers like those that make people want to come back. Such a nice environment. I will say that the space inside to eat is limited so if it's crowded, you may have to just take it home

Melanie K.

Yelp
Staff there are very very friendly. I also like how they are open late so I have some place to go to when I'm hungry at night. When I get the big size platter, I usually can't finish and end up packing the leftover for lunch the next day which makes my lunch prep in the morning so much easier. When you eat at the restaurant you can grab the bottle of sauce in the mini fridge and put in as much sauce as you want. I totally took advantage of that.

Linda M.

Yelp
Quick, Simple, Consistent. As someone who reminisces about food truck staples from my summer spent interning in NYC, I love that I can now get this in Rockville, MD. I also love that it's in a mini-mall with plenty of parking. The options are few, the ingredients are simple. Sandwich or platter? Beef, Chicken, or Falafel? It comes with rice, tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce. You can add olives, green peppers, onions, and jalapenos. Then comes the moment where they ask if you want WHITE SAUCE. YES! Say YES! and LOTS of it. Here's what I do. I get the Beef Gyro and Falafel Regular Combo Platter. As a rule, I never order chicken out because I always find chicken to be dry. They don't advertise the combo of beef and falafel (only chicken and beef). However, they do charge beef and falafel as a combo at checkout. It's a great deal and cheaper than ordering a side of falafel. I added olives, green peppers, and onions. As for sauces, I have them put white sauce and tahini. HOWEVER, once I got my platter, I go into their little fridge next to beverages and put MORE white sauce. I sprinkle in dabs of red sauce. Use the red sauce sparingly, it is SUPER spicy. If you eat there, I recommend mixing it all together and halfway through your meal adding more white sauce. This is the type of meal you want to mix all the items together. The combo of the fresh veggies, white/red sauce, and proteins really make for a magical combination. This is by no means a fancy meal. However, I would definitely choose this over a chipotle burrito bowl. For those wondering about portion, I can never finish a chipotle burrito bowl. I finished my regular sized combo platter here. I felt full, satisfied, but not too full I couldn't finish the rest of my errands for the day. It is a quick, simple, consistent lunch option. It's my go-to lunch stop on a day filled with errands.

Aveeda G.

Yelp
Looking for something open late the Sunday before Memorial Day, we made our way to trusty Halal Guys at the Rockville location we had been meaning to visit. Even at about 11pm at night, customer service was fantastic. Super friendly and happy folks behind the counter serving up our combo platters. Meat still hot and cooking and still plenty of white sauce left for us. Has it been that long since I've been to Halal Guys, you have the option of adding toppings onto your meat, rice and veggies plate? We wanted to stick to the original here, so passed on these, but I wonder if that's an option at any of the non-NYC food truck locations. You can't go wrong with Halal Guys no matter where you are, but this Rockville one especially... is a good one.

Rachel R.

Yelp
Chicken and Gyro Combo Platters with no rice (keto friendly):) hit the spot. The eggplant and olives. Everything is so good. Chicken and gyro delicious. This is an anytime meal.

Mike B.

Yelp
I'm sort of in between 3.5 and 4 stars for my experience with Hallal Guys; but I rounded up because the service was so efficient and friendly. First things first: If you don't get the white sauce to douse your bowl with... I'm pretty sure you're not gonna have a terribly enjoyable experience. Let me tell explain myself: I'm one of those people who gets their food and tries each of the individual components before eating the food as a whole. I'm not sure exactly why I do this... it's just something I've always done. So... when I got my bowl... I was like... "ok, let's try the chicken..." Nothing special "ok, let's try the gyro..." Also... nothing special "ok, let's try this falafel" ...I'm... getting not so great of a taste from this "ok... tomatoes" Those arn't seasoned. So I kept trying thing after thing and being like "Why in the heck are there lines out the door for this place?" "What is the hype about?" And then I tried their tahini... ( I had just had REALLY good tahini at another Mediterranean place earlier that week... and this one just PALED in comparison). And then... I got to the white sauce. Curiously labeled "Hallal Guys White Sauce." I actually asked when I was at the restaurant what the White Sauce had in it, and they told me "It's a mayonnaise based sauce." They keep that sauce pretty close to the chest... and for good reason. I barely can taste any mayo to be honest, but I can definitely taste... deliciousness. I'm assuming there might MSG in this sauce. The crack of the food world. I started to put the white sauce on bit by bit... adding more... and more like a starved addict. The white sauce really brought the whole thing together. The meal was completely lost without it. It's so so funny how one sauce can make an entire dish. Truly, if I didn't have the white sauce... I probably wouldn't be back. I still wasn't an enormous fan of the falafel. I thought some of the spices in it were to forward facing. If I'm gonna do falafel... I'll probably stick to Max's Kosher Cafe. But the gyro and chicken with the white sauce and other jazz mixed together. I can definitely subscribe to that. White sauce FTW

Richard L.

Yelp
Ordered family meal and asked if the 10 white sauces were in the bag and they said yes. Drove 30 minutes home to find out they weren't included. Called the store and they basically said we will give you 5 more sauces. What am I going to do with 5 more sauces. Bad attitude on the phone. Said my Uber driver(I picked it myself) messed up. Didn't care to try to solve the issue. Won't be back.

Yelp
So glad there's a The Halal Guys in Rockville! I was already really excited when one opened in DuPont in DC since it was close-ish to work and I could bring it home, but now since there is one in Rockville, that means Halal Guys on the weekends! I usually get their platters, notably the gyros one. I'd get the combo one (gyros (beef) and chicken) from time to time, but the gyros are so addicting. The platter comes with rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and the choice of protein - whether it's combo (gyros and chicken), gyros, chicken, or falafel, etc. Then there's the options of some add-ons, which some are free, such as onions, olives, peppers, etc., and some are for an additional cost, such as hummus. Then there's the sauce. I've only tried their signature white sauce and the red hot sauce, and both are so delicious together. Put a lot of white and a line or 2 (or even 3+) of the red, and it's a great level of spice! Some people say it's really really spicy, but I love it. They also have sandwiches, fries, etc. here as well. Great service and great food! The amount of food they give may be inconsistent/determined by who's working, but I've always been full after eating a whole platter. I love it when sometimes there's sometimes more rice or packs the bowl, which means an additional half a meal for later in the day or the next day.

Yelp
Anyone who's been to Rockefeller Center or stayed at the Hilton New York knows the Halal Guys quite well, the iconic cart at the corner of 53rd and 6th being a Manhattan landmark. Folks line up for good reason - they turn out some great food at that cart, delicious flavors you can smell from a half-block away. So, I went to the new Halal Guys in Rockville with high expectations, and perhaps my expectations were a bit too high, as this Wintergreen Plaza outpost didn't at all live up to the original. I ordered the falafel platter - but, unlike the New York original where the food always is piping hot because it's being cranked out to order, it was obvious that my falafel had been sitting around for a while, not at all hot and with a really dense consistency (another sign that they weren't made to order), served with a pita that was quite dry. The nice young man behind the counter offered me a complimentary side of fries and - you guessed it - they were cold, totally negating the gesture. The space is small - very small - so if you go at peak times, you're better off getting your order to go. The seating is a bit uncomfortably tight, and I was bumped into several times by people either getting up or sitting down. The one thing I'll give them is that the staff is quite friendly and eager to please, making sure you have everything you need. It's unfortunate that the enthusiasm didn't translate to the food, making for a lackluster lunch experience.

Yelp
The hubby and I were excited to try Halal Guys, but were were already sort of full so deceived to order one meal to share. He went with the combo bowl with both beef and chicken. Usually I am an avid fan of beef, but both the beef and chicken were very tasty: The best of both worlds! We had our order for carry-out and the staff did a great job parking the food securely and even offering packs of the white sauce separately so the order did not become soggy.

Yelp
The food here is not as good as the carts in NYC. I ordered the combo platter and although it is filling, it is more expensive. The biggest disappointment is the meat was dry, but the pita bread was good. The white sauce was good, but beware of the hot sauce as it can be spicy (only did 1 strip).

Yelp
So happy the Halal Guys opened in Rockville! It sure beats driving to NYC or Tysons. They have a very basic menu - I would stick with getting the combo platter - you get lettuce, tomatoes, rice, pita bread along with their chicken and gyro meat. You can ask for extra meat and toppings for an extra charge. When they pour their famous white sauce on your platter I ask them to pour a little more. Now, their hot sauce is legit. It is very spicy - so I would ask for a packet and try a little. This can easily serve two people. It tastes just like the one in NYC. The line does move fast so don't get discouraged if you see a long line. At least it's much shorter than the lines in NYC!

Yelp
For a company team luncheon, had to make a big order of 8 Platters - Combo and Felafel, plus, some fries and Baklava. Got to the restaurant around 11:25am and were able to place our orders in person. Service was great!! Everybody, including the manager were very helpful and accommodating. We received our orders in a timely manner. The Felafel was a little dry for some people's tastebuds, but everything else tasted great! We will definitely go back...

Yelp
Crowded! But good. Although I prefer the New York City cart Halal Guys, I'm glad they opened up a location on Rockville Pike. Always nice to have another quick service restaurant other than Chipotle. I went to their grand opening and was one of the first 100 people in line, so got a free platter registered on my reward card. Not the most impressive grand opening considering how much they marketed on social media. Still had to purchase one that day, so ordered a combo chicken and gyro rice platter. It came with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and three slices of pita bread. You are also able to add cut white onions, green peppers, and jalapenos on top of your platter. Not the best toppings in my opinion, but another way to spice up the dish. I thought the chicken was better than the gyro, but probably because the gyro was too chopped up. Lots of credit for their white sauce and hot sauce. It really increases the flavor of the dish and you're able to add on as much sauce as you want. But I think more flavor should be added onto the meats themselves. Regardless, their portion and freshness make up for it. I would come back for carryout again.

Yelp
So happy to see the Halal guys come to Rockville. The restaurant is small with enough 4 tables and seating for 10-15 people. Unlike the street cart in NYC, you can add additional toppings to your bowl. The price for the bowl is a bit more expensive then a bowl in NYC. They also give you a ton of white sauce. I do have to admit my first bowl over here was not as good as a bowl in NYC. I am not sure if it is because I am not on streets of NYC but it did taste slightly different. The portions are still just as big. I think one bowl could be shared by two small people or two people who are not starving. Of course I do plan to come back here many more times again. You might have to wait in line because in can get crowded in the small restaurant, but the line moves pretty fast. Don't expect to find a table, plan on taking the food home or eating it some where else!

Yelp
Goodbye Moby Dick forever! Thank you for opening up this location much closer to my area than New York! My friend and I came yesterday afternoon and thankfully the line was short. Despite of the snowy weather we came through with such excitement! The line to get in was less than 5 minutes which is why I waited and dodged the grand opening. I ordered the combo platter with gyro and chicken and the portion size with the regular was massive. I couldn't finish the whole platter so I will resort to the smaller size next time. The meats were seasoned very well. The famous white sauce was amazing!!!!! They gave me two large packets of the white sauce and smaller packets of hot sauce to-go. I tried a little bit of the hot sauce and my mouth was on fire for a while! The customer service was great. I have no complaints and I opened up a rewards program because I'm pretty sure I will be visiting Halal Guys regularly.

Yelp
In the words of the 90s rap group, Public Enemy; "Don't believe the hype." Halal Guys is a quintessential example of how initial strong Yelp reviews can create groupthink and hype for a mediocre product. I've noticed this a few times when visiting a new restaurant that gets initial strong Yelp reviews only to find that the experience doesn't come close to living up to the hype that Yelpers create for it. I consider myself a pragmatic foodie. By no means do I want to come off as one of those annoying "Yelp Elitist" who thinks they know everything about food and fine dining. But I have common sense and common sense, along with my taste buds, tells me that this is just an average gyro shop with decent brand marketing who are living off of their popular NYC legacy. First, people keep hyping up the infamous "white sauce" about how great it is. It's okay. It's just a watered down mayonnaise sauce with all sorts of ingredients that are thrown in for cheap mass food manufacturing. Give me a good old fashion fresh Tzatziki sauce any day of the week over this stuff. Second, the popular de facto dish is just orange rice with chicken/gyro plus shredded lettuce and tomatoes. Any Gryo shop can make this. Unless you're really big into halal meat, I don't see the big deal behind this. Is it good? It's aight. Would I wait 30-45 minutes in line like others have? Hell no. My biggest gripe isn't even with the brand. I think they do a decent job of productizing a dish that can be found in most mom and pop gyro shops. And I'm glad they're open past 10pm because it's usually just the fast food joints that are open late on the pike. Good for them and I hope they make money. I'm just more annoyed by how much groupthink occurs with these Yelp reviews and people falling prey to the mass hype. I don't rhyme for the sake of riddling Some claim that I'm a smuggler Some say I never heard of ya, a rap burglar False media, we don't need it do we?
