“Regular Beef Platter & Falafel” A place that comes to mind every now and then! After finishing work at 10 PM, I was hungry and started craving Halal Guys, which I had been thinking about for a while. I ordered it for delivery through DoorDash, and after almost an hour (since the restaurant is quite far from where I live), I finally received the food. Normally, I order it for lunch at the office (less than a 10-minute drive) and enjoy it fresh, but since some time had passed, the food was quite cold when it arrived. Still, it had been a while, and I enjoyed it!

Looking to satisfy my late-night craving, I found myself debating between heading Downtown for some takeout or rummaging through my stocked fridge. Ultimately, I opted for the latter and made my way home via the Mission. Parking was a breeze at this hour, but be warned that double parking is a big no-no in the area as the police are vigilant and will ticket you. The line at the restaurant was short, and I was promptly attended to. Having perused some reviews beforehand, I settled on the Regular Beef Plate. As they're usually swamped during weekends, everything on the plate was fresh. It comprised delicately seasoned rice, crisp lettuce, succulent tomato, a generous helping of tender beef, as well as onions, olives, pita, and a delectable Barbecue Sauce that made the dish for me. It was a satisfying and flavorful meal that didn't feel too heavy or greasy, thanks to the addition of vegetables. I'll definitely be back for more. A word of advice for those considering delivery - I've noticed many complaints in that regard, so if possible, make the trip to the store to ensure you get the plate you truly desire.

Disappointing size for that price. I ordered a Shawarma Sandwich at Halal Guys. First time. And while the taste was overall really great, the size of the sandwich was totally disappointing. The bread is much too small. For a price of more than 18 Dollars including a Softdrink it's either too small or too expensive. I am a pretty small guy with just 67kg but that didn't satisfied me at all. A Shawarma should be eaten by hand, but that's almost impossible with that small bread. Otherwise it would be definitely a five star rating. Nice meat, yummi sauce, fresh ingredients. Really good taste. The size matters here.

I had the pleasure of discovering an incredible halal restaurant situated in the bustling downtown area. The service was excellent, and what impressed me was the option to have sauces served separately, allowing me to customize my meal to my liking. Personally, I found the white sauce to be exceptionally delicious. The platters and sandwiches were both of high quality, showcasing fresh ingredients and flavors. I opted for the regular platters, which came to a total cost of approximately $20. I decided to order my meal for takeout and enjoyed it in the dining room of my hotel, which was conveniently located not far from the restaurant, the HI San Francisco Downtown Hostel. Strongly Recommend!

I had a bad experience the hard thing like piece of glass in my bite. I feel so bad.

Tried first time from their food truck in Manhattan many years ago and food was good, but this O’Farrell St. restaurant in San Francisco was total disappointment. Ordered their sandwich with chicken. Bread was cold and chicken was bland with no taste at all. Not going back again.

The falafel sandwich really fell flat! And the fries are below average. But, the chicken wings were good but heavily breaded. But, It did not seem like that they were making their own chicken wings, it tasted like something they purchased. The dining room is kind of messy and the bathrooms were roped off and closed to the public. This was really a turn off. So this location of Halal Guys is not good :/

Everything in my plate reached the perfection of the taste! The portions were just right and the customer service was the cherry on top. Highly recommend!

The Halal Guys never disappoints! Whenever I travel to a new state, I always check to see if they have one, and this location was just as good as I expected. Their chicken, gyros, and falafel platters are some of the best out there. What made this spot even better was that it stays open until 3 AM--perfect for those late-night cravings after my business meeting. Plus, it's super convenient, located right across the street from the Hilton hotel. The staff here was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even reminded me to upload my receipt to the app to earn rewards, which I really appreciated. If you're in the area and looking for a solid, flavorful meal--especially late at night--this spot is a must-try!

I got the regular halal platter with half beef and chicken. The flavors always hit here especially because of the white and spicy sauces. I feel like the prices rose quite a bit; I spent $20 on this which I feel like is very pricey for what it is. Regardless, the food was good and the service was fast and helpful! And the restaurant had a bunch of seating for us.

Ordered the regular beef gyro platter. It's been years since I've had Halal guys but the flavors were still on point. If you have yet to try this, make sure you try it with their white sauce and just a little of their hot sauce goes a long way. Only con was that their prices definitely went up, but I guess that the economy for you. Other than that, solid spot.

Straight from NYC, there's so many locations throughout California now. Decided to grab lunch here for the first time. I was a little concerned about the pricing, and the portions are not great. They do skimp out on the chicken. Overall, I give it 3.5 stars. I got a Small Platter with Chicken Gyro and Honey Sriacha Falafels. The chopped green peppers were just bell peppers; I recommend! They're fresh. The falafels were a little fluffy, but I didn't taste the sriacha at all. The chicken was definitely the highlight! Seasoned and tender pieces. Surprisingly they also have Lychee Iced Tea here??? So you know I had to try it... The best way for me to describe: if Brisk iced tea had a lychee flavor, it would taste like this LOL

The food is good, and is an easy grab and go for lunch or dinner. It's not the OG food cart on 53rd and 6th, but still a good stop.

Came here with my toddler. She's got bad allergies, figured this was a safe bet. We had to avoid all the sauces, I don't think all the sauces. This food is just blah. Taste like it was boiled chicken or something. This might not be a fair, we were sauceless. I don't think I'll be back. I had been here before, thought it was all right. Maybe this is just a bad day.

Since the closure of the my beloved Egyptian shawarma place on Geary, I've started hitting up the Halal guys on my last few trips. The service is great, quick and the food is really good. It's super messy if you get the sandwich so I usually eat it in the privacy of my hotel room. My only complaint is that I wish the red sauce was a bit milder... it's a killer.

We're in San Francisco for the weekend and decided to try The Halal Guys for lunch. I had their beef sandwich. Everything they use is fresh. It was really delicious and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in having a great tasting lunch.

Having loved Halal Guys during my visit to NY, I was excited to try them right here in the city. While I wouldn't dare make comparisons, the experience was undeniably delicious. Opting for the small plate with regular chicken as my protein, I appreciated the variety of chicken options available. Adding jalapeños and onions seemed like a good idea, but I quickly learned my lesson about spice levels when the employee warned me before adding the hot sauce. I opted for just two lines of hot sauce, but next time, I'll definitely request it on the side as it turned out to be extremely spicy--I was sweating with just a small amount! I also realized that jalapeños might not be my best choice again. Despite these spicy mishaps, the food was satisfying and priced at around $18, which is comparable to other eateries in the area. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and will certainly be back for more.

Halal Guys hits the spot! I loved it when I first tried it in NY and happy to see it here in SF. The platter fills me up and it's so good! Service is very fast and I can't believe this spot is open until 5:00am on Saturdays! This is my seconded time at this location and it's in such a good location near Union Square while you take a break from shopping to refuel.

I was staying downtown near Union Square for the JPM meeting and needed something quick so I remembered eating here a few years ago and stopped in. It seems to still be dingy and busy so I got on line ordered a regular size gyro bowl and ended up sitting down and consuming it quickly before heading out. Iceberg lettuce, a bunch of oddly colored orange/yellow rice, two small scoops of chopped up processed gyro "meat" some diced tomatoes and olives and onions and a heavy squeeze of whatever that white sauce is and a sparing squirt of hot red sauce (very hot BTW) and I was full but hardly impressed. Meh. The best thing to say that for $20 you ate something. Not impressed.

Ah, I really cannot get enough of The Halal Guys. Always so convenient and an easy go to when I'm working in the city. Service is fast, team is friendly. Pro-tip: their credit card payment cannot accept tips so please consider bringing cash to thank them for their hospitality. Also, totally did not know they have fries. Cannot wait to grab those next time and adding it to my gyro. Thank you!

After Covid, HG went downhill and they are charging significantly more than what it used to be. WHICH IS FINE! However; I don't expect you to skimp and pay more on top of that...

Tldr; Solid takeout, ok in restaurant, this place serves up a fairly solid gyro bowl if you know what to order. Pro tips: Add the jalepenos, add the chopped onions, add the olives. They are worth it dawg. Been getting these guys for years, it's probably hands down one of the quickest things you can order on postmates/uber eats, probably due to it being accessible by drivers. Parking is difficult, so if you choose to come in person it would probably be a walk-only type spot. The food is above average in my opinion, I've never had a bad meal as long as I stick to the beef gyro. I find the chicken is a little bland, and most of the limited time proteins / offerings I haven't really found as good. Stick to the classics, add the extras, and if you touch that red sauce, lord have mercy you are one with the devil.

Friendly, fast, and genuine service. Not too loud and very relaxing atmosphere. Conveniently located across the street from where I'm staying. Food was as good as it always is!

Why did it take me so long to find this place?? Holy moly the food is delicious, service quick (despite it being late at night and PACKED), and I want to go back here when I'm slightly less tipsy. This is great food and lots of it for a really good price.

The food is just Ok. Rice and chicken were not bad but not great either . The falafel was super dry and hard - likely very old. The white and spicy sauce definitely goes a long way to give the food some flavor. I've had Halal Guys fresh off their food cart in NYC previously and that was 20x better than what this store location serves up. Would not recommend.

Opened late at night for all those fans of the Halal Guys, or just need to find some food when nothing else is conveniently open. The menu is simple, and this fast food option is better than others. The staff is quick to assemble your order and the portions are good sized for a good appetite. Still, not the same as their original NYC cart, but a familiar choice.

A full sized affordable meal for one or a small meal for 2 per order. A NYC favorite where I first tried them; they're still cheerfully generous with their scoops which I appreciate. As of 01/2023 the meat is still delicious & tender on the combo beef/chicken platter while vegetarians have a falafel option. Free refills on the soda as far as I know. They're automatically generous with the sauce so be specific if you want less. Personally I'm a fan of the more sauce the better! P.s. if you saved enough room for dessert let me know how you like it here! I do love a good baklava.

Mediocre food for crazy insane prices! A bowl of chicken and rice in one of the nyc halal carts cost 7$ here at halal guys it'a 29$ so greedy! And the quality is not there. Meat is not fresh so why am I paying for 30$ bowl. This business won't last too long if they keep being greedy and not listening to clients. Do better

Late at night when everything is closed, these guys hit you with a chicken shawerma sandwich and other things and the world is right again. I like it!

We had heard the name so we're excited to check it out. The service was great. The vegetarian in the group was able to find something to eat and enjoyed the suggestions made by staff. When my students traveled for their next journalism convention they were excited to see another Halal guys.

After eating at the Halal Guys carts in NYC, I had to try the CA version. In comparison, the flavor is there, but the chicken thickness is quite thin in CA. However, there are complimentary toppings for your plate offered in CA like green peppers, onions, jalapeños, and olives that are not offered at the NYC carts. Moreover, when you order your plate, you must ask for the desired toppings because they will not ask you. Maybe it's the same in NYC? For a Saturday night at around 5:30pm, we were the only customers. Because the Halal Guys is within walking distance of the Curran Theatre where you have to show up an hour early for security, it makes for an ideal stop before curtain time.

Halal Guys is always so good. I am so happy to stop by this location while visiting. They offer indoor dining or take out. The best part about Halal Guys is that they are open late night. I came here after visiting a few bars and I got the combo plate to take back and it was perfect. They also gave two white sauce packets (I usually get one) and it made the dish even better.

Fast. Consistent. Value. We've eaten from the carts and restaurants in NYC so we were thrilled to see this storefront across the street from our hotel. Yes, there are so many options in SF but we picked up platters and a sandwich to take with us to eat at the airport before our flight home. Minus one star because no one answering the phone for carryout orders.

Halal Guys is worth every penny. Conveniently priced under $20 usually. I would recommend Falafels if you have time.

Pretty good quality food , easy simple menu to read , overall would recommend if your near it

This place has very nice falafels. Pretty good size sandwich and tasty falafel. I got it with hot sauce and white sauce , be advised that the hot sauce is REALLY REALLY hot! I liked it though! Served on a pita bread that didn't seem fresh though but all good ! Only problem is the person who took my order was not very friendly and welcoming and seemed like hated the job! That's always not a cool thing to see where you go to dine out but still a good experience as far as the taste of the food.

Good value, food tasted as expected, excellent customer service, clean facilities . Will definitely return in the future if in the area.

I kept coming here as a regular and it was alright but to the guy that was working 11/21/2023 changed my mind. He is the one looking right at me in the photo. I will never come back if he is the one working because I won't forget the rude service I got by him. The guy was in such a hurry and didn't bother to ask me the usual follow up questions that come with what I order. Instead of slowing down and realizing my veggies should be inside my bowl, he threw them into a separate container and when I asked why it's not together in my bowl with the rest of my food like it usually is, he looked at me angrily as if I was in the wrong. The guy had such a nasty attitude the entire time I was there. I can't even enjoy the food I got because the experience was so awful.

I ordered through Yelp/Grubhub for lunch and it was so fast and easy to do. I've never had Halal Guys before and it definitely didn't disappoint. I ordered the signature spicy chicken/beef gyro platter ($17.25) with a lychee iced tea ($5.00) but with tax, delivery, and tip it came out to $36.81. Meat was tender and it was paired well with the basmati rice and fresh vegetables. The portion was HUGE which was great because it made amazing leftovers for dinner. I really enjoyed the lychee iced tea because it was refreshing, I just wish it came in a bigger size. Big component of my five stars is due to delivery and service since my delivery person had great communication.

Food was a 7.5/10. I would say the NYC halal trucks are much flavorful than this but it wasn't bad. The beef had more flavor, looks like only salt and pepper seasoning for chicken which is still tasty but compared to NYC you can taste the difference. Great for a late night option which was our situation coming in around 2am from SFO. This place is open until 5am, the delivery driver was very nice and energetic at 2:30am also haha. They did NOT provide utensils so we ate with our hands (didn't mind bc of our culture but it would've been nice to have a spoon). Large packets of white sauce and hot sauce given.

Great place to eat while in SF. Platters are hearty portions and plenty for one or two if you are looking for a quick bite. Place is new and clean and it's a well balanced meal with greens, meats and starches. Beef is shaved and so tender and chicken is hand cut in chunks. Close to union square in a safe area.

Last night I ordered dinner for my boyfriend and myself through Door Dash. Our Mango Lemonade was missing. Fortunately I was able to get a refund and still waiting for it as it takes 5 to 7 business days. However I did notice that the paper receipt included in the bag with our food provided by Halal Guys was ripped so the last item wasn't seen so I believe this issue was because of Halal Guys, not Door Dash. I think the food here is overpriced but also could be because of the extra fees on Door Dash. The Chicken and Beef Gyro Platter included salad and rice. The chicken and beef was dry. The only thing that helped it was the sauce. On Door Dash I ordered a 500mL White Sauce Pouch for $9.99 which was described to come with a nosil. But instead I got a small 100 mL pack of white sauce. I was disappointed I didn't get what was promised. However I still love the flavor of the white sauce as it helps the dish since it's so dry. The red sauce is super hot so be ware! I had the Lychee Iced Tea which my nose favorite part of the meal. I've deducted 3 stars from Halal Guys due to the missing items and cook on the meats.

This SF location doesn't really compare to the quality I consistently get in San Jose and Fremont, but it's definitely better than the Oakland location here in the bay area. The white sauce and hot sauce are one of a kind. This location is fairly small but we had no trouble finding seating on a Saturday evening. And overall the place was clean, with the aroma of the delicious gyro beef wafting through the air, even outside the restaurant. I like that they didn't charge us extra for hot sauce and white sauce packets (like some other locations). And their plastic forks are individually wrapped (post-covid). Service was pretty standard, friendly and efficient.

Satellite of the popular NYC chain, the halal guys is in a cozy spot sandwiched between a sushi restaurant and a rental car agency. On a weekend, there was basically no dinner rush, which was nice since we basically had no wait between ordering and receiving our food. I went for the standard Beef Gyro platter in the regular side - which comes with a large amount of meat, veges, and rice. There is a small option, but it's a dollar cheaper, so I'm not even sure if that is worth it. Remember to ask for onions, green peppers, jalapeños, and olives since they don't ask if you want them (but they are free to add on top of your food). They do ask if you want any sauce added from their 3 options of famous white sauce, tahini, or hot sauce. I went for the tahini and white sauce, both are delicious and added the "something missing" from my platter. I wish we came a little later since we got the end of shift meat, which was still good, but not the fresh slab of gyro meat I saw them chopping as we were eating. Unlucky!! Anyways, it's still a good taste, fast, and great value - especially here in SF, where everything costs an arm and a leg.

I really was hoping that the food would be better after hearing all the reviews from my friends. The flavors were there, the food was good but definitely not fresh and hot. I feel that delivery caused the food to be kind of cold but the packaging could have been better. I ordered a Chicken Platter and a Falafel platter through GrubHub for delivery. The chicken's flavor was pretty good & so was the falafel. Might try again while sitting in person or nearby, as delivery wasn't as fun!

I really want to like this place. It's delicious in NYC, although not the same here. Don't be fooled by the free shipping on door dash. The cost is buried in the cost of the dish. Fine. I accept because the bf and I were lazy. I'm petite, so this was fine, but the boyfriend was hungry after eating his gyro. The combo plate came with a looot of lettuce, which seemed like half or more than half. I ate all my lettuce and tomatoes and took a picture, then reheated in the oven (highly advised). If I weren't petite, I'd probably still be hungry. The combo beef gyro was good. Would skip the chicken, it was lackluster and mehhh. Drowned it white sauce. I'd skip the chicken. Good thing the bf was starving.

Very soft and very bland. It's a no for me and I've been to Halal Guys in a few different states so I think I can't help but to compare to previous experiences. I ordered the chicken shawarma with everything except green pepper and wasn't impressed. No complaints about the service in-store, but the quality just wasn't up to par when you're charging $16 for a sandwich.

So, I'm catching up on my reviews and trying to show support for one of my favorite spots to order food. I always wanted to try Halal Guys, but never had the opportunity until one day earlier this year when I was sick at home. I found them through one of those delivery apps, so I ordered two platters. I ordered the combo (meats) platter and the falafel (veggie) platter. Both were delivered in a pretty quick timeline, given they are across town. I LOVED the dishes. Obviously way too much for one, but I had plenty of leftovers - which were just as good. Loved the hot sauce over the white sauce, but I goota have both. So now when anyone suggests Halal Guys, I'm down. I love the food, always tempted for it.

The rice was a little undercooked, but the rest of the meal was satisfactory. The white sauce was like a mild creamy salad dressing. The hot sauce was flamin!

This place has a stupid contraption that pretty much slams your hand in their door, and then their employees like to laugh about it forget this place no respect for the patrons. BAD BAD BAD service.

Quick, consistent, delicious and friendly. The diversity of the staff is amazing. It makes me happy to be a San Franciscan and see the melting pot of cultures work well. I love the spicy fries they always up sell me and I say yes. Must have. Lemonade is delicious too. Great value

The location is pretty good. It's right across my my current hotel, the Hilton. Its also open late which is a huge perk. There might be some sketchy figures here on the sidewalk (like with anywhere in SF) at night but if you act reasonably, you should be fine. There are other transit options nearby like a bus stop or even a metro station a couple blocks away. The flavor, if you can call it that, was mediocre. It was probably the most basic generic flavor I have ever had. You know that scene in SpongeBob where Planton eats holographic meatloaf? This is what I can best describe it. Very lackluster. It wasn't inedible but it just wasn't there. When I think of "empty calories" or the bag of air in a lays chip bag, this is what The Halal Guys tasted to me. We didn't get any of the sauces so maybe it was our mistake. The hot sauce however, was foul. It was toxic. Tasted nothing but chemicals. The kind of fake spicy that is made in a laboratory that wants to only go for a wow factor like the Blazin' hot sauce at Buffalo Wild Wings. The "devils asshole" if you will (excuse my french). 10000/10 on the spice meter for me. The prices were decent (~$12) but I wish the flavor could make up for it. I won't be coming back. Bottom Line/TLDR: I wouldn't recommend this place

Sorry, not the best photographer but this is what you'd get when you order a beef and chicken platter. The halal guys always get's the job done and leaves me satisfied after I finish eating. Not the best middle eastern food you could find but definitely still a really good option for the price. The white sauce is my favorite part of the meal but the downside is a single packet is over 300 calories. The chicken and beef are also really tasty on their own but I would definitely add some white sauce over your meal. I have tried the halal guys about 5 times in my life and only had one bad experience but that was not with this specific site. I was given the wrong order when it was delivered to me and I had some vegetarian option and that was not good at all. But again, that was at a different halal guys, not this one. Just wanted to share that experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quick bite, overall satisfying.
