11 Essential Halal Restaurants Around D.C.

"While the famous New York-based chain shuttered its struggling H Street location last year, one can still find its renowned falafel, gyros, and build-your-own-bowls at its Dupont Circle outpost and Northern Virginia restaurants." - Lenore Adkins

This halal food restaurant is located on a busy street and it's difficult to find out a parking. I had combo chicken and gyro platter for lunch. Good amount of food in a Very affordable price. The service was good though the place was crowded.

Visited this location after 9 years. I purchased combo chicken and gyro platter. The proportions were good. The service was great. The only difference I felt was the atmosphere. It did not look clean and smelled bad.

My most favorite food in Washington!! Do try their chicken/beef combo with rice, pita bread and grilled beef/chicken. It’s so delicious. Staff are very polite and kind. Don’t forget to try their Baklava desserts— you will lick your fingers. I eat lunches there whenever I am in D.C. They have more than three outlets in D.C. I like to eat near the DuPont circle. I love The Halal Guys a lot. This is a convenient food shop for Muslim travelers.

To my surprise, the location now skimps on rice, bread and not just the meat, it also charges more than other locations. Maybe a bad day? But the food is as great as it can be. I did even point that out to manger as I did not see the rice, he said yes we gave you rice. For that price range and amount of food, my money is best spent someplace else. Extra change do a couple of olives, c'mon halal guys. Will go to the other stores.

The Halal Guys at Union Station in DC. The food was great and fresh, it was a nice alternative to regular “fast food”, the service was great! However, the staff were so hot, because there was no AC. The cook came out, and he was dripping sweat!! The ladies behind the counter were all perspiring like crazy! They were cheerful, but it was muggy in there. And it’s not even a hot day!!

Tasty food, wasn't crowded at all and we got to people watch at the counter while we ate. Nothing like making fun of drunk people on a Sunday afternoon 😂 😝 flowing out of the clubs next door. Very nice cashier.

After checking out The Lady Bird, my boyfriend and I wanted real food so we walked to The Halal Guys. Both of us got a sandwich. My boyfriend’s gyro consisted of beef gyro, tomato, lettuce, white sauce, and hot sauce. Mine had combo (beef gyro and chicken), olives, tomato, lettuce, and white sauce. In addition to gyros, we shared an order of baklava, which came with two pieces. Everything was tasty. Our stomach were satisfied. We got heartburn but it was worth it!

Google
Disappointed. We ordered chicken and beef gyro and gyro platter. The food did not stay in my stomach for more than an hour. The meat looked too greasy and old. They had a very limited option on topping. They wanted to charge $1 extra for tabooli that looked like it’s been there for weeks. The chicken wrap was awful. Had no seasoning on it. The beef gyro was “okay.” There are plenty of other places to eat in DC. Save some time and go somewhere else.

Yelp
It's honestly a hit or miss. If you catch them on a good day, the food is fresh and tastes good but I've sometimes received rice that's really hard and I can tell it's been sitting out for a while. I still order from here pretty frequently because it's a quick and easy lunch.

Yelp
I stand by my original review it still is wack as wack can be 1 can't believe I gave them More money . Might as well have thrown the money in the street

Yelp
Not gonna blow you away, but reliable and very filling (at least the "regular portion"). Fries are crinkle cut - ok, falafel are a smaller sized balls fried from frozen, not bad but come for the beef and chicken on rice. be careful of the red sauce it's got a kick.

Yelp
DISGUSTING! Baklava arrived with two bites already taken out of it!!! No way of knowing if the entree had been tampered also. Bag was sealed when it arrived via DoorDash. No answer to three calls to the restaurant. Absolutely utterly DISGUSTING. My daughter had to watch me spit out my food as I realized (late in the game, it was dessert). So messed up. DO NOT EAT HERE. I have eaten from here a dozen times this year and NEVER AGAIN.

Yelp
The food is not clean and the service is terrible. If you want someone to insult you, as a customer, this is the place for it. Someone behind the counter dropped a utensil on the floor and then used it to touch my food. In front of me. When I pointed it out, another employee argued with me that there wasn't a problem with that. He wanted me to explain to him why I didn't want that food anymore.

Yelp
Got the mixed platter here and it was delicious. For the price, you cannot go wrong. This fills you up plenty. Also, a special shout-out to their friendly service! :)

Yelp
Who does not like Halal Guys when they are out drinking. Literally went here two times in one night of bar hopping. The food was good and the location made it all that better. It is located right next to all the bars and I really like how the line does not get long. You can get your food quickly and eat quickly to continue drinking. There is enough seating and it was not hard to find a spot to eat.

Yelp
I am really disappointed in this place. i ordered food and the staff was rude and demeaning to me. They overcharged me for what I ordered and there was barely any meat or toppings in my plate. I would not come here ever again. This place is expensive and overrated for the cold sad plate that I got.

Yelp
Ordered delivery over the weekend during COVID lockdown and my food was pretty good. My daughter loves these guys and frequently asks if we can order. This time, I ordered the combo plate with extra vegetables and jalapeño peppers. Nothing fancy, but okay. For the overall quality of my meal I'd give 4 stars. There was a problem though that I can't ignore though: there was a staple in my daughter's rice. I figure this could happen to anyone, so maybe it was just bad luck, but this could've been dangerous. I've ordered from HG before though and this has not happened before. Truth be told, we will probably order again at some point, but always be careful.

Yelp
Good food for a decent price! I heard about the hype of Halal Guys for years, and I'm finally glad to be finally trying it since it's nearby work. I ordered 2 combo platters to go, with both the white sauce and the hot sauce. Since people rave about the white sauce, I asked for extra on the side just in case I'd like to add more to my platter, but they charged 50 cents for extra white sauce. The combo platter has the rice, salad, meats, pita, and the sauces you choose (either or combo of white, hot, and bbq). The serving of meat was pretty generous given the price, so definitely gold stars for that. The salad portion (lettuce and tomato mix) was standard. The rice looked very flavorful because of the color, but it was bland by itself, so the sauces definitely help. The service was ok; there was no line when I went, and the ordering method was assembly-like, very similar to chipotle, but fewer steps. Say what you want, and they assemble it for you, and then ask for your customization on the sauces. The amount of the white sauce was generous, and they didn't put much hot sauce on it because their hot sauce is spicy, which is amazing! Out of the combo meats (chicken and gyro), I preferred the flavor and texture of the gyro. The chicken by itself was a bit dry and bland, but again, the sauces definitely helped with that. The white sauce tended to go well with everything - the meats, rice, salad, etc. I'd definitely go back, probably for either a gyro platter or I might try the falafel. Great addition to the DuPont Circle area!

Yelp
Came here for lunch. I got the combination with no salad and extra rice. I'm a big fan of halal guys and tried both the Arlington and NYC locations. I had high expectations, that fell short. 1. I felt that the location was stingy on the sauce, for some reason it just didn't taste the same as the other locations. 2. Service was off, and they were messing up orders with people in front of me, which increased wait times Overall 3 stars but I plan on going back to see if things improve since their still new.

Yelp
Great deal and you can order them ahead of time from the Ritual app. When i got there, my food was all ready to-go with 2 packets of white sauce on the side. Even the small bowl was very filling. One thing i wanted to mention was the gyro meat was a bit salty that day.
google avatar

Yelp
Worst customer service ever, they talking badly about customers in their language and laughing into my face when I confront them about it And the food is not fresh in the morning and it tastes like it's heated from the night before!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place, the platters are some of my favorite takeout in the city, it's so addictive. I follow the seriouseats subreddit, and there are constant posts where people talk about making the halal cart chicken recipe that imitates The Halal Guys. Having made the recipe before, I have to say that it isn't quite as good as the real thing, and I'm so thankful to have the real deal here in the city. Just watch out for that hot sauce, it packs a mighty punch. Some of these negative reviews here are baffling to me, because I've been ordering from here for years, and never experienced anything like what they're describing.

Yelp
When I first walk in, it was a little stressful walking up the stairs to the ordering area but once I got there, thats where the fun began! I order there combo platter chicken and gyro. It was given to me very quickly and in a orderly manner. Definitely super good! They have french fries now, which is super good. Its only $3 for the giant container of fries. The best part, they are very close to my job!

Yelp
I always enjoy stopping by here whenever I am looking for a quick meal as the service is always great and the food delicious. Typically I order the chicken and gyro bowl with some of their delicious baklava for dessert! Always add the olives to whatever you order as they're fantastic! Sometimes the rice can be a little overcooked but the meat and veggies are always consistently delicious! Definitely stop by here if you want a delicious and quick lunch.

Yelp
If you like Halal food I highly suggest this place. Food and service is great. White sauce is a must for the most flavor.

Yelp
HORRIBLE SERVICE. Ordered, was charged and paid for combo platter of chicken and beef via Postmates. However, falafel was delivered instead. Tried to call to have order fixed. Phone was answered and then hung up. Now won't answer phone to fix order!! The food sucks too!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!! BAD SERVICE ! BAD FOOD!!

Yelp
My guy and I vowed to spend the ENTIRE weekend indoors while I visited from Washington (the Evergreen one) so as to beat the cold and utilize an excuse to eat nothing but hand-delivered food. He paroozed the options of postmates & ubereats while I diligently investigated their level of legitness via Yelp. Cue the Halal Guys. This was one of the best choices during my extended stay. Not only did it arrive in a timely manner, it was also warm and aesthetically pleasing. Usually when ordering delivery, I accept the fact that my Yelp photos will be horrendous. Can chocolate torte look beautiful on a styrofoam throne? Yes. Can chicken kabobs, too? Apparently so. I ordered the chicken entree with a side salad and was able to eat a decent amount and still have leftovers (rarity). The produce was fresh, chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the rice was fluffy and aromatic. You guys rocked it, I wish I had one in Washington State!

Yelp
I've been here twice now... both for lunch. They always have some good music playing and it's usually not busy. As you walk in, there are a bunch of tables for seating, and orders are done in the back up about six steps, Chipotle-style at a long counter. You can pick a sandwich ($7.99) or a platter ($8.99/$9.99) and have chicken, gyro, combo of both, or falafel. I've gotten a platter both times... this time it was a combo one. After they add the meat(s), rice and salad, you get a choice of taboule, onions, green peppers, and their sauces (BBQ, spicy, white, etc.). They also have a rewards program that I hope to take advantage of real soon. That's pretty much it... Their food tastes delicious and flavorful, there's just no other way of putting it. The selection doesn't allow for much variety, but that's not needed! I don't know if the place has access to heat or not, but as we sat down to eat lunch, the door didn't even have to open and it felt almost as cold as outside. When I first sat down my butt almost froze off. I'd recommend returning to your warm office instead of sitting in there if the weather is cold. A lot of people seem to come to this place after the bars... I can't help but wonder what that's like? XD

Yelp
I've been here a couple times in person, but mostly order from here from DoorDash. The core is technically the same - gyro, chicken, falafel, then you can head over the platters or sandwiches, what have you. Yet if that's the case, I have no idea what makes it different from the NYC trucks. Food's just not as hot, and something about the flavoring, even with the spices and sauces correctly there, feels a little lacking. This is not a dink against them, but the delivery service experience is inconsistent. You have no problem customizing over the counter, of course, but when I request all salad and no rice, it's only worked about 50% of the time. I don't know what to tell you - not sure I'm willing to give up the convenience of delivery just to get my order right. The Halal Guys image is technically being upheld. But DC is having a resurgence of competitors in the last couple months, so I don't know if I can keep going here based off of blind loyalty.

Yelp
First time eating Halal Guys outside of New York. I have to say, it is not as good. Maybe because it is a physical store that the meat and other things are not constantly churning out like the New York food cart, but it tasted like it has been sitting out for some time. Also, walking in, this place gives you a feel like it is a big place. However, when you really think about it, the amount of seating is fairly limited and it would be hard to find seating during a lunch rush. As stated before, the food was a bit "old". It may have been that I was not drunk enough or the fact that it was not outside, but it definitely did not taste as fresh as it was in New York. I am thinking that it partly due to the fact that in New York, they are constantly churning out plates with rice and meat and they are constantly on the grill ready to be served. When it is your turn, you get the meat directly off the grill. This gives it is freshness and heat and mixed the heat with the infamous white sauce, you get a nice mix of food that made Halal Guys famous. The fact that it was sitting out for a while when we got there, removed that directly off the grill taste and diminished the impact of the sauce. Maybe I will just stick with going to New York to eat their food.

Yelp
Not bad .. filling food and nice location, highly recommended for a quick bite and halal on budget food

Yelp
Tasty dishes, easy to use online ordering. We look forward to our next order from The Halal Guys!

Yelp
Yasss! Always Yasss to this place! My husband and I sometimes plan to go to bars around Dupont, just so we can end our night at Halal guys! :p But seriously, so glad DC finally has a Halal guys. The chicken is super duper flavorful! And their sauces?! OMG that white sauce is amaze. Careful with the red -hot sauce- they ain't kidding when they say it's hot!
google avatar

Nikki F.

Yelp
I'd give 0 stars if possible. We paid for 5 meals and extra sauces (total $80) and after being assured everything was there (I specifically asked about the 5 meals and the extra sauces), we're missing $25 worth of food. They're just trying to steal money from people.
google avatar

Justin P.

Yelp
Right in the heart of DuPont Circle, with all the drunk kids out coming for a late night meal. Surprised the flavor for all Halal guys are the area is consistent. But it can't beat the OG cart out in NY. Good amount of seating, has a bathroom, be careful of the stairs going up and down to the ordering area. Especially if you're drunk.
google avatar

Emilio C.

Yelp
Not very good. Ingredients are bland unless you douse them in sauce. I'd be ok with this if the ingredients were better or the nutritional quality were higher (everything is filler except the meats). On a positive note the value per serving is decent. In a pinch this place is fine, but you can probably do better.

Yelp
I was so anxious to try Halal Guys yet I don't know why. I hadn't had it in New York and I wasn't disappointed with my falafel options in D.C. Maybe it was my turn to fall victim to the sway. Maybe having red as the primary color of a restaurant does really work. Who knows?!?! I came in on a Sunday evening and it was pretty empty. Dupont Circle had some movimiento. Not nivel U Street but there were people out there. They weren't in Halal Guys. I ordered a Falafel Sandwich and agreed to the standard lettuce and tomato. I added black olives for free and Tabouleh for a buck and Baba Ganouj for another. Add that dollar up with the one I said before, that means my sandwich was bout to be real bland till I started paying extra. To top it off I got White Sauce because the masses said it was good and BBQ sauce too. The guy said they have a special Tahini for falafel but I did know if that was going to put me out another dollar. The sandwich was only aight. The fries were crinkle cut. They tasted better than I expected but I liked the lil box they came in most. Not that they were nasty, I'm surprised they even brought them to the table instead of calling me to come get them rinky dink fries since they had to be cooked as a result of me ordering them (told you it was empty). They give you a few packets of ketchup. Nothing like Amsterdam Falafel. From my sandwich I have no opinion of the mythical White Sauce. Couldn't dip my fries in on the side so that's that. Done and done. 3 stars but it's more like 2.5
google avatar

Nehali S.

Yelp
Does it compare to the NYC food truck? Unfortunately, no. But will I still eat year? Of course!! I came here once before on their grand opening day and was a little disappointed by my falafel platter. However, I have to say, they've definitely improved since then. This time around, the experience was much better. The falafels were great! The poor girl behind the counter was concerned when I kept asking for more red sauce even though I told her I knew what I was doing. I took it as her being concerned for the well-being of her customer so I appreciated it. I recommend this place, especially on a cold day or any day that you're craving some food from the guys with the yellow bags!!

Yelp
Being from ny and having eaten the halal guys growing up, I am very disappointed. Portion/ratio of food and quality of rice are definitely not comparable. there are 2 sizes to choose from-- small or regular. i chose the regular as that's the only size i have eaten for halal guys. ($1 difference only between small and regular). tray was legit more than HALF ICEBERG Lettuce!! is this a new thing now-- serving the next best halal salad? i should've noticed something was off when the server started placing lettuce in the tray from the start. I am used to guys scooping hefty amount of rice in the tray first. The ratio in ny is basically rice on the bottom (50%) meat 45%, and tiny bit of veggies. Now I understand they have to pay rent / utilities vs food carts, but is rice after all and I don't think we came for iceberg lettuce salad.
google avatar

Yelp
The only thing common in this place the Halal Guys from NYC is the NAME. Food was stale. Chicken was dry. Beef gyro had barely any beef in it. Very disappointed I say the least. I won't be recommending it to my family n friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Halal Guy rarely disappoints... whether it's the actual food truck in NYC or one of the brick and mortar they've opened up somewhere. This location is the 4th location I've been to and it still doesn't disappoint. Love the food. The white sauce. The red sauce. And everything else in between! The actual restaurant is pretty narrow and the line can get pretty long but it goes by fast. The dining area is a bit tight and wouldn't recommend for big parties. The tables will sit 4-5 comfortably and after that... you either need to separate or cram yourselves (like we did with 7 people!) Outside of the food truck, I'm used to the white and red sauce being on the table so that you can put more on that delicious platter (or sandwich) but was slightly disappointed this place didn't have that. I was about to say something to my friends when... (perfect timing) the manager(?) starts walking around the restaurant with the bottles asking if we wanted more sauce! We thought it was a really sweet gesture so A+ for that! So glad to have halal guys near me and will def be coming back!

Yelp
Having moved from NYC/NJ less than a year ago, I was obviously excited about Halal Guys coming to DC. I came here with great expectation and thought I would relive those late NYC nights but I came away slightly underwhelmed and disappointed. It might be unfair to compare to the original NYC location but at the same time, you expect the same Big Mac from a McDonalds in NYC and a McDonalds in Topeka, KS, right? So I don't think it was that unfair to compare. Regardless, the food here was good. The vegetables were actually fresher here (and you get a better variety of vegetables) given that this is a brick and mortar location compared to getting veggies from a food cart at 2am, so that was a pleasant surprise. The big miss I thought were the ratios here. In the NYC location, your platter was 50% rice, 40% meat, 10% vegetables. Here, the ratio was 25% rice, 25% meat, 50% vegetables. Really bad ratio. I felt cheated after I finished my platter. Another miss was when there were no sauce bottles available in the seating area and when I went up to the counter to ask for more white sauce, they told me I had to pay for extra. Sad! But after some back and forth, another woman stepped in and gave it to me for free which was nice. The prices here are noticeably higher than what the original location in NYC charges which is to be expected for brick and mortar store, but when you're getting way less rice and meat, it just exacerbates the price difference even more. Hopefully they'll make some changes since they just opened and all will be well.

Yelp
As always this place is amazing. I've gone to the cart in NYC for years, and this place captures all of the magic. There appears to be more seating than at the Springfield location, which is a definite plus. I expect this place to get packed during late nights on the weekend, but it looks like they've got the system down to handle large crowds. This was the smoothest opening that I've been to. As always, the food here amazing. You have to get the combo platter, and put as much white sauce as you can on it, then add a little more. Be careful with the red sauce. It's SPICY!!! You've been warned! The BBQ sauce is meh. I know some people swear by it, though it makes me question their judgement. LOL Overall, I plan on making many stops to this location for my chicken (and lamb) and rice cravings.

Yelp
This part of town is getting very inundated with good to great middle eastern food. You've got Yafa Grille, Moby Dick's, Cava Grill and now The Halal Guys all within about a four block radius. Of course each of these places is pretty different from one another especially since they are different styles and from different countries. I came here during the soft opening after hearing good things about their locations in NYC. While I am not completely blown away I thought the food was very good and reasonably priced compared to other nearby fast casual spots. As recommended I tried the combo platter with chicken and gyro meat and extra white sauce. Both the chicken and gyro meat had a lot of flavor although I preferred the gyro meat. I need to learn how they make that rice which was also really great. The hummus was good but not the best I've had in the neighborhood. I normally love spicy food but opted to get the hot sauce on the side since I've heard their hot sauce is pretty strong and I didn't want it to overwhelm the rest of the flavors. I ended up using one and a half of the hot sauce packets which left my lips a bit tingly feeling but in a good way. At $9 and change for the platter, I think this place is a good value proposition. Overall it lived up to my expectations and I'll be coming back soon.

Yelp
Growing up in NYC and eating from halal carts (including Halal Guys) regularly, I was very excited that this location was opening up. I miss the comforts of home and this definitely would have solved some of that. I avoided opening day obviously, but went the next day. I ordered the chicken combo and it was okay, it definitely doesn't taste as good as the NYC location which I suspected it might not. Also, my rice was so dry I assumed maybe I got the last little bit of the batch. I went again on another day (at a different time) and it was still the same dried out rice. The sauce is okay and a little different... the hot sauce is way spicier than the NYC cart. They also seem a little discombobulated like maybe too many cooks in the kitchen? I asked to just a little sauce and then it was doused and asked for one line of hot sauce and was given a packet. This girl knows what she wants just give her what she wants! Anyway, it just isn't the same familiar taste. I haven't gone back in a bit but I'm mostly waiting to see if they get into a rhythm and work out the kinks and then I'll try again.

Yelp
Coming from NYC, I was so excited for the franchise to move to the district. I've passed it numerous times walking to and fro along Connecticut Avenue. I finally got the chance to try it last night with a friend, who also lived in NYC, and we both absolutely loved it! The food was relatively cheap and very filling, which is always a good start! However, they didn't have lamb available - which is the standard halal food - and service was a bit inconvenient, but I attribute that just to being the opening day. I'll surely return many weeks and look forward to frequenting this restaurant!

Yelp
Not awful, but also not great. I came here with pretty low expectations having been to the NYC food cart. I ordered a chicken bowl to go. They start with lettuce and fill 1/3 of the container with shredded lettuce and then fill the rest with rice. The rice was fairly dry. I went around 9pm on a Sunday so they were not making any more meat and instead had a little pile on the grill that was just sitting there. Surprise- my chicken was dry too. Then they scoop a little bit of tomatoes and give you two little pieces of pita. The white sauce saved the meal. They were fairly generous with the sauce and there was enough to cover everything to cover the dryness. On the plus side, the produce was very fresh. I wish I had more tomatoes! Kind of pricey- my one bowl cost me $11. Service was quick and there was no line. There is a decent amount of seating available too. This would be a decent place to grab some quick late-night food if you are feeling hungry!
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty good. Create your own platter style. Not a huge fan of the platter being half "salad" - aka iceburg lettuce with diced tomatoes. The chicken was excellent as was the hummus, but overall it was just standard. My friend and I were the only two in the store and it still took a little bit longer than I thought it should have. Service was pretty fine - not really friendly but efficient enough. Basically, it's fine. You won't hate it but you won't love it.

Yelp
I LOVE Halal Guys! I've been a big fan for years now and I have been patiently waiting for them to open in Dupont. I stopped in yesterday and was immediately greeted by a gentleman carrying their white and spicy sauces around from table to table. He was super friendly and he not only verbally greeted me, but he also had a huge smile on his face and was genuinely happy to be working. After walking up the small set of stairs they have, I was than greeted by another woman, who carried on the same excitement as the gentleman. She was sooo sweet and she could sense my excitement of being at the new location. She proceeded to explain what was different at the actual restaurant vs the food truck in NY. I ordered the regular combo meal. which has perfectly seasoned gyro and chicken meat over a bed of yellow/saffron rice, with a side of salad and pita bread. You can add toppings to your liking, but the sauce is what makes it. They have a VERY fiery hot sauce, which is spicier than any hot sauce I've ever tried (and I've tried a ton), than they have my favorite, which is a white sauce that sort of like ranch, but so much better. I usually do a little of the red, and a lot of white. I couldn't have been happier with my entire experience. I plan on going back really soon, like...maybe this week, lol. It's that good. Everything they serve is fresh and full of flavor. You can't go wrong by eating at Halal Guys!

Yelp
Would give a 0 if I could. First time ever trying halal last weekend. Got the falafel plate, Something tasted off but since I've never had it I disregarded it. Should have trusted my gut, got food poisoning. Spent the entire night with cold sweats throwing up orange rice. Disgusted and will never go back. Or eat halal again for that matter.

Yelp
This place is legit. Great late night menu option! I hat the chicken gyro which was perfectly made! This has a "chain restaraunt" feel to it, but the food and service is on point! Follow me on Snapchat: chuckwood97

Yelp
If you are looking for a just-finished-a-night-on-the-town type of food, then Halal Guys is your guy! Open late at night for the post-clubbing drunchies, they make it easy for you to eat because it is fast, hot, cheap, and delicious! A chain spreading across the east and now west coast like wildfire, it's as spicy as it is delicious. The menu is short and sweet, making decision making very easy if you are a little tipsy. I'd recommend doing half of each meat. For my spice-lovers, ask for their spicy sauce. While it costs more to have it on the side, if you are really daring just ask them to put a lot directly on your plate. It'll clear your sinuses and help beat that morning hangover. Halal guys is an east coast staple. Good for eating during lunch or late at night. Just try to avoid the rush!

Yelp
I come here every now and then with friends just for a combo plate of chicken and beef gyro. White sauce on everything, and be careful with the red sauce. It's spicier than it looks. At $9.99 for a regular size bowl, it's really hard to beat in terms of DuPont food value. I won't lie Roti slightly edges Halal Guys out in terms of value and taste for the bowls, but Halal Guys definitely gives bigger portions.

Yelp
So this brick and mortar will never compare to the food cart in NYC but it sure gives me my fill! It was my husband's first time having Halal food and he loved it. He likes spicy food, and said their spice packet was "out of this world tasty".

Yelp
Came here with some friends after a night of clubbing. This place is awesome. You create your own sandwich or platter. I ordered a beef platter with rice, tomatoes, lettuce, pita bread, BBQ sauce, and the red sauce. One of the workers who made my platter warned us that the red sauce was super spicy, which was very nice of him. So I only got a little bit of that. I didn't get the white sauce because I'm allergic one of the ingredients in it. Because they had all of the food there; you just picked what you want, my food was ready instantly. We were the only ones there so there was no wait time. The food was amazing. Having the BBQ sauce and the little bit of the red sauce mixed with everything else was delicious. I wish I could have the white sauce to really complete this meal, but it was still really good without it. I will definitely be back next time I am in DuPont Circle.

Yelp
Delicious! The $9.99 Bowl is huge with a yummy amount of rice, lettuce, toppings, chicken and beef gyro. I get twice as much food than a similar bowl elsewhere. So glad Halal Guys came down from NYC.
