The Half Moon, Kirdford

My husband and I throughly enjoyed our first visit to The Half Moon. We were well looked after by Eleanor, who was attentive and friendly. The food was superb - the best meals we have ever eaten. The flavours came through beautifully, on our starters and mains. Presentation excellent. The Half Moon has become a new favourite - we shall be back. Thank you for all your hard work, it is much appreciated. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to sample dessert, due to our own time restrictions, but we will make sure to have the full 3 courses next time. The pub, bar area and toilets were immaculate - the building is clean, tidy and well maintained. I was not aware there were rooms at the venue so I have not given those a rating.

Just wow! I turned up on my own without a booking on the off chance. Jamie couldn’t have been more helpful, he asked if I was ok to eat in the bar and of course I was more than happy to. Ordered the wagyu roast beef. Never had it before. It was the best tasting roast beef I have ever had in my life. I’ve had a few in my 54 years. More to the point, I’ve been trying different Sunday roasts in sussex every Sunday so far in 2025. The Half Moon is hands down the best I’ve tried so far. Beef was gorgeous. Roast potatoes just perfect, incredible tast, fluffy inside and beautifully crunchy. The vegetables were just as I love them and hot. Gravy was perfect, everything was amazing. Well worth the money, and happy to tip. I had desert which was incredible. I’m running out of adjectives! See the photos! It tasted better than it looks. I can’t recommend highly enough. Book to avoid disappointment. Every detail in here has been considered and maintained. Even the toilets were 5 Star, with a choice of pump dispenser soaps, a wicker basket with hand towels and everything was spotless and fresh. Jodie was there, but I didn’t disturb her, would have loved a selfie though!

A wonderful gem of a pub. Have been wanting to try The Half Moon for a while now and finally managed to get there for some lunch. Arrived plenty of parking, quiet location, inside you are greeted by lovely staff, great bar area where we had a drink to take everything in before we were shown to our table. Furnishings and decor at this pub is stunning. Once sat and our food arrived we were not disappointed. Just superb, highly recommend.

Outstanding Venison, cooked to perfection, excellent manageress. We had lunch and it was superb. The atmosphere was relaxing and spot on. We are fussy, we love good quality food cooked well, and everything we ate was superb. Two AA rosettes well deserved, and more ! Highly recommended and we are looking forward to returning

Best place ever!!!Gavin (the chef) and Louise (front of house) are a spectacular couple who has made the Half Moon in Kirdford a very very special place. A big thanks to them and their team for making our St Valentine lunch even more special. Pierre & Sharon

Wanted to love this place so much, however after we got home we realised we had been over charged on the bill by £50. We called up and spoke to someone who said they saw the mistake and said they would refund the money back to our card (this was on the 14th Dec 25) We waited a week but nothing came back to the card so we emailed and they said they were sorting it. Another week passes no money back on the card. After several phone calls and promises of a call back (none of our calls have been returned by Louise the operations manager) we still don’t have our money and our emails are now being ignored. I’m really shocked that this place is supposed to be excellent for food and service and we have been let down, ignored and left out of pocket. Shocking service.

A beautiful Sunday Lunch , 3 courses all beautifully cooked . We both loved every morsel . Service and atmosphere was second to none . Thank you very much

An absolutely fabulous lunch. Amazing food, great menu choice….all dishes that my husband and I had were totally delicious, super tasty and packed with flavour. This pub really does serve some of the best food around, by far. Service was also fabulous and the country garden is the perfect setting for a gorgeous summer lunch. Cannot rate this highly enough and we will be back. Many thanks to you all, and especially to the chef 😀
