Delicious Food! Came for Sunday Roast…food was delicious. starters (chicken parfait, beetroot goats cheese salad) and dessert (sticky treacle pudding) were the highlights. Roasts were nice, but all members of our party noted that the quality of the cooking in the roast dinner we had a few years previous (2023) was noticeably better. separate sides, and tastier gravy were main points for improvement. but still a very classic, tasty and enjoyable experience.

Food and accommodation excellent. Our room was an extended suite so plenty of space. Warm and clean to a good standard. Restaurant was packed so lucky we booked. Shared the pastrami cured trout and had fish & chipsand Sea Bream. Too full for deserts. Breakfast was exceptional see pics.

Only popped in for supper and glad we did! Without exaggeration, I think this is the best meal I’ve ever had in the UK. Every dish was spectacular for the price and delicious. Shoutout to the kitchen staff - you all are doing amazing work. Best scotch egg ever enjoyed, excellent venison, and fresh chicken far from supermarket quality. Even the chips, which I don’t typically like, were expertly prepared and individually savored. Paired with the good cask ale available, it was a very memorable dinner.

You NEED to come here. We arrived after the kitchen closed and these guys still made food for us and boy was it great food. So good in fact I didn’t even take a picture as we ate it so quickly. Can’t recommend it enough - a very good menu, talented chef and really lovely front of house. Thanks for looking after us ❤️

Visited for Sunday lunch. Service was great but we were a little disappointed when a very cold bottle of red wine was brought to us. It had been opened so we didn't want to say anything but we felt they really should've come and asked us before opening if we would accept a cold bottle of red. Food was good and it's a goregous place. Just a little niggle!

Today we visited the Halfway with friends for Sunday lunch. The pub is lovely and in a beautiful location. I'd already looked at the menu and decided I didn't really like the sound of the veggie option - mushroon and celeriac pie - so when we went in and were shown to our table I Immediately managed to offend the staff by asking for a sunday roast without meat as i didnt really like the sound of the veggie option 🙈 Anyway, he told me how lovely the pie was and how it had been called 'the best pie in Britain' and persuaded me to try it. Well.....he wasn't wrong 😱As someone who would select anything from a menu rather than a roast dinner, I can honestly say it was the best roast dinner I have ever had anywhere. So if you remember me (I'm sure you will) Im sorry and we will definitely see you again.

Lovely, cosy pub serving a great roast dinner with all the trimmings. The only let-down was the beef, which was fatty and a bit of a disappointment on this visit. Thankfully, the quality of the rest of the roast more than made up for it.

On the whole I've always been delighted by the food at the Halfway, however this years Christmas turkey dinner was disappointing; far too many greyish potatoes and a slab of rather dull turkey made an over facing and stodgy main course. The starter and the pudding however were well up to standard
