An intimate Upper West Side bar, The Hamilton boasts an impressive collection of American whiskeys set in a cozy, 18th-century tavern vibe, perfect for dates or post-work cocktails.
"Like Caledonia, The Hamilton has a very serious whiskey selection, though the focus here is more on American whiskey. Which makes sense, seeing as the space is decorated like an 18th-century tavern, complete with a portrait of Alexander Hamilton. That said, it isn’t a gimmicky spot where you pretend to be an early American settler. Mostly, it’s just a nice little bar with brick walls and a short menu of snacks, and it’s a good spot for a date or a low-key cocktail after work." - will hartman, bryan kim, neha talreja, matt tervooren
"The Hamilton is at the northern tip of the Upper West Side, and it’s a nice, casual place to get a good cocktail. Sure, they have a set of house rules - but they’re all pretty reasonable. (“Buy a drink” is rule number two.) The bar itself isn’t huge, but there’s a large selection of whiskey, and whoever you’re drinking with will probably appreciate the fact that it’s named after that treasury secretary from that one musical." - bryan kim
