Adda, The Hangout Review - Arts District - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Adda, The Hangout is an Indian pop-up operating out of the Crafted Kitchen space in the Arts District. They only cook once or twice a month, and the menu changes often, but just know that no matter what, you’re going to be eating fantastic, homestyle Indian food. Standouts from past meal drops include kadai chicken (cooked in tangy gravy with onions and bell peppers) and gobi matar, cauliflower and peas cooked together with turmeric, cumin, and other spices. But perhaps the best part about Adda, The Hangout is the cause that they support. A portion of all proceeds go to the LA Food Bank kids’ meals program, making a big meal here a no-brainer. Give them a follow on for all the latest ordering details." - Brant Cox

We stopped in for breakfast with the family. A nice little spot right in front of the beach. The food was reasonably priced and it all tasted great. I would definitely be back if we are in the area again.

We came here straight from LAX and made it for late breakfast. It was so dang good and the view was nice too. Best waffle ever! Can't wait to visit again one day!

We worked up an appetite after a 1 hour walk so we hit this place for breakfast. My friend ordered the BELT sandwich Bacon, Egg, Lettuce and Tomato. It looked delicious and 6 hours later she was still talking about it. I stuck with chorizo, eggs & refried beans work corn tortillas. It was yummy. Great location with a view of the ocean right on Main Street. Prices are great and not outrageous! A definite must try if you’re in Seal Beach.

Google
Blackened mahi on grits was amazing! Chicken tacos were just ok. Buffalo chicken sandwich was spicy and yummy. Alexis was a great server! Not a ton of options if you need to eat gluten free.

Google
This place burgers are on point. Their fries are like In and Out but thicker. The meat load dinner hit the spot. They grilled their meatloaf so in some ways it was like a Salisbury steak. 🔥 service was really great and friendly

Google
The food was really good, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Piña Cooladas and they were honestly the worst drinks we have ever had in our lives, we sent them back and asked them to be more creamy and not so strong they made some changes but they were still not great so they took them off our bill. They said they don't add coconut to them so thay may have accounted for the difference and our disappointment.

Google
Great location. Very close to the beach. Our server was wonderful. Food was average.

Google
Fantastic oceanfront restaurant that always delivers. A bit of a wait on weekends, but probably no longer than 30 min. We ordered 5 dishes for 4 people and the total before tip was only $100, I feel like you can’t get those kinds of prices anymore especially on the coast. Ambiance was excellent as was service, they checked in on us numerous times. Highly recommend the seafood pot!! Best bang for your buck!

Yelp
There is no restaurant parking, but there is a lot of public parking. Depending on the time, it could be a bit complicated to find but your usual "by the beach" situation. For a party of 2 there was a 30min wait, but you can walk to the beach or do a little shopping meanwhile the wait. The food was good, the location is great, the staff was pretty friendly. No complaints. Would go again if around the area.

Yelp
Went to a bar closes to the pier. We were bar Hopping on Main street. It was crowded both at the bar and dining area. We managed to get seating within minutes of request. Big Kudos to the front host. We did not eat, had a few beers then left. My experience was great! We were greeted and seated. Enjoyed the Sunday afternoon vibe. I recommend. I can only give it 4 stars since we did not order anything to eat. As long the staff was friendly, which made our stay enjoyable. Is all that mattered to me.

Yelp
A great local hangout with incredibly friendly staff, good food, and good vibes. You have to try the onion rings but bring a crew to help you finish them. They have a daily special and we were lucky to get the double smash burger. It was juicy and delicious and only $11 with a side of fries. Quite the deal. Any trip to Seal Beach should include a stop at the Hangout!

Yelp
Located right across from the Seal Beach Pier, this is one of our favorite breakfast spots. The parking on the weekends can be a hassle, and sometimes there is a wait, but the view and food definitely make it worth the wait. Service is usually pretty good, but we do try to avoid weekends so it's not crazy. All in all this is my go to breakfast spot when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Steamed muscles and garlic bread is fantastic Great and fast service. Location is great, next to the pier You can literally watch sunset from inside.

Yelp
We are from Florida. Love this place. Great food and fun times love the wings. Burgers are great!

Yelp
Always a good place to stop in for a lunch or dinner, and always a good place where you know the food will be at the very least decent! I've only ever had their spaghetti (which is great!) but the fried pickles appetizer, is so delicious! The service here is decent enough, never really had an issue but at the same time, never had anything really worthy of a review or a compliment. That's kinda how the whole place is. Casual. Low key. A real Hangout lol

Yelp
This place never disappoints. The ambience is great because it's across from the Seal Beach Pier with an Ocean view. We have been coming here for many years. The food is really good: American with plenty of seafood options, open for breakfast in the morning, and they also have a full bar. Today we had the NY Strip steak, it was delicious and definitely worth the reasonable price. We tried 3 different sliders: Salmon, Buffalo chicken, and cheeseburger, they were all good. We have had breakfast here in the past and it was great. But don't miss out on the Onion rings and the Calamari (ask to try all the sauces). They are delish. I have to call out our server Mel for being awesome! She read our minds and brought us what we needed before we had a chance to ask (refills, napkins, etc) and most importantly she checked on us often. Thank you MEL and The Hangout.

Yelp
The food was good. I went on Wednesday and had the fish and chips special-Only $10 after discount!! Well with it!! Drinks were delicious!!

Yelp
We came back on a Friday night to give their Prime Rib daily selection. It was just by chance that our server on our first visit, was again our server. Bri D. is now our favorite server. She's so nice, so attentive and very hospitable. Like our first visit, we split our order to cut back on portion size and Bri accommodated us so well, we didn't need to ask for an extra plate or extra spoon, or even an extra knife. She just knew. If Bri was my server every time we decide to eat here, you won't hear a single complaint from me. As for our meal, the clam chowder was hot, creamy and thick, and enough clams to know it was clam chowder. The prime rib was tender in the middle but there was a bit of toughness, maybe because my wife wanted it medium and so they cooked it on the flat top like a steak. Still no real complaints that would make me take a star away. What's next, I don't know, but maybe we'll go down the list of daily specials.

Yelp
This burger was very yummy. It needed to have it's picture taken. Gets a bit messy to eat but give the Jalapeño burger (forgot the exact name) a try! Love the fries there too! Staff is friendly and it's right by the Pier at Main street. Great to enjoy after a walk around town and the shops.

Yelp
It was a beautiful evening and we were ravenous. I thought of the view of the sunset from this tasty little spot across from the Seal Beach pier. We found easy free parking, and were instantly seated by the charming hostess. I had promised my girl a gorgeous view and this bar really delivers that. I had the meatloaf sandwich, my girl got the blt. The fries were great the sandwiches were perfect the service was so friendly and fast.

Tray T.

Yelp
Food was okay, I had the chicken and waffles! It did not have much flavor you need to add syrup and gravy and that made it taste better. Ambiance - casual almost a dive bar feel

Yelp
Out of towners looking for a place to have a drink/appetizer and watch the sun go down and we were running out of time. Luckily we found The Hangout and were able to grab a little table at the window to watch the magic. We were only there for a short time but managed to get a drink in while watching the sun go down. I had a dirty martini that was made perfectly and my guy had a Sunset Breeze which he loved. We also had the crispy fried calamari and the bacon mac'n cheese balls. I'm not one for mac'n cheese balls but my husband said they were excellent. And that calamari? So tender, so delicious! And a VERY generous portion. Service was friendly and fast. It would have been great to have dinner at The Hangout because everything looked amazing but we were only there to catch the sunset and then on to meet up with family.

Yelp
Met a friend here Thursday night after work and wasn't too crowded, we were sat right away and the service was wonderful. My friend recommend this place due to their clam pot, and Damn I should have got that - it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the salmon sliders, which weren't bad but I was expecting more. We spilt the onion rings which were awesome. Overall the place is great and right next to the beach!! Very laid back feel. I will be back

Yelp
Went there to have dinner with my friend & it was on the corner of the Main Street / pier! The server started us off with water & mentioned the alcohol selection. 1/2 off the wine They mostly had burger options & other selections but the burgers are the most popular! I got the chicken jalepeno burger & my friend got the regular one. We finished it & was happy with the food. It was a very good meal!! It doesn't always have to be the most expensive

Yelp
Every time we visit the Seal Brach area this place is always busy so today we thought we'd give it a try. My overall rating is a 31/2. We arrived at around d 2:00pm on a Thursday so we were able to get a table right away. Nice local hangout atmosphere. We ordered the tempura zucchini and their daily special of street tacos. The tempura zucchini was really meaty and cooked to perfection. It comes with a miso sauce which was a little too sweet for us so we asked for some ranch dressing. Very good! The street tacos on the other hand was somewhat of a disappointment. We ordered grilled fish, fried fish and the steak tacos. Both of the fish tacos smelled fishy so they were not fresh. The fried fish was also over cooked and tough. It is served with two small tortillas. The tortilla on the outside was tough to chew so we only ate the inner tortilla. We are thinking we just ordered the wrong thing since there are a number of "5" Yelp review ratings so we may need to come back and try something else. Servers and hostess were very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Breakfast at The Hangout this morning was okay. I had the Jack Daniel's Strawberry French Toast, some pieces were a little overcooked. The service was good, the outside dining area was enjoyable. Street parking available, prices were reasonable. Third star given because of the service.

Yelp
Came in for the fish and chips. The fish was over breaded, the fries were ok. The cocktails were great.

Yelp
I was down in Seal Beach last week, Friday, 6/7, walking around trying to decide which restaurant's cuisine would please me the most. Decided on the Hang Out. I've been to this restaurant only a few times........maybe 5 in total, usually having the meatloaf and mashed potatoes entree. Never a bad experience. This night I decided to order the Chicken w/ Pasta w/ Pesto Sauce. Completely satisfied.........pasta was perfect.........chicken was sliced and cooked perfectly...........sauce was great............ample portion.............reasonably priced. I'll be back.
google avatar

Kristina D.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place because the staff were so friendly but the food wasn't great. Fries were cold and the fish had too much batter. Will not be going back.
google avatar

Leanne V.

Yelp
Took a visit to Seal Beach and stopped here for lunch. It was a Sunday so it was busy and there was a 30 minute wait so we walked around the area till we were called. I ordered the salmon sliders with some onion rings, and it was delicious! Also paired it with a Bloody Mary! Service was great. The place is always busy so if you're looking for a quiet spot this is not the place. They also have a separate bar area if you just want to grab a drink. This is definitely my go to spot to get some tasty food when in Seal Beach.

Yelp
The hangout is always my go to on Main Street in deal beach. Our waiter was nice and checked up on us to make sure everything was good. TBH e jalapeño burger was delicious, along with the crispy French fries.

Yelp
This Hangout Restaurant is located at 901 Ocean Ave in Seal Beach. I came for dinner due to a friend's recommendation on their daily specials. Tonight was 2 for 1 meatloaf Monday, with a purchase of 2 drinks. Although it was a warm day today, I've been feeling like eating comfort food-this hit the spot! The mash potatoes tasted like mom's, and the meatloaf had a great yummy taste to it-even the veggies were great. This location affords you ability to go for a walk on the Seal Beach pier, if you so desire. I opted to walk the full length of the pier, and the best part was that I got to park nearby for free for 2 hours. Definitely will be back for the other daily specials, and to get my steps in after my meal.

Yelp
I wanted to take my son and his roommate to a local burger joint near the beach since they are CSULB students nearby. Wednesday night wasn't too crowded. This was a cool "hangout." The food was decent. I love that they serve some southern style meals. I mean, you can't get grits everywhere in Southern California! The servings were generous, and the guys left with full, satisfied bellies! They said they would return and try more food. I really enjoyed the blackened Mahi. It is a beach restaurant. Nonetheless, it could use a little makeover to give it a shine up. It has a local dive bar vibe. Parking is available a block down the road. Bonus: free parking after 6 pm!

Yelp
Pretty good breakfast. The Hangout Breakfast was decent with over easy eggs, bacon (good), and hash browns (good). The Jack Daniels Bread Pudding French Toast was phenomenal! The bread pudding was moist and flavorful and really stood on it's own. The Jack Daniels caramel sauce just put it over the top delicious! The BLT and eggs sandwich was great. The biscuits and gravy was average, as was the coffee.

Yelp
Loved this local breakfast place. Breakfast is big and the staff is friendly. View of the pier from the booth we Dat in. Will be back if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Cool restaurant next to the ocean. Great meal for the buck & friendly service. First visit was dinner. The weekly specials are awesome. Friday was prim rib. Perfectly cooked. Second visit breakfast. So good. The waitress seem overwhelmed handling bar & the few tables around the bar. But was okay. Yummy food. The weight is worth it.

Yelp
January 22, 2024 ~ First review, at least a hundred visits dating back to when this place was Kinda Lahaina years ago. We really like The Hangout. Our most favorite dish is the meatloaf yum! Right now on Monday nights when you order two drinks the meatloaf dinner is BOGO. This is a delicious dish especially when you want maximum comfort food. Bonus ! the vegetables served alongside the mashed potatoes are delectable. The service is always good, really friendly laid back people :)

Yelp
A solid breakfast place! Service from our waitress was great, she was attentive and helpful. The food was so good, I loved the shrimp and grits and the pancakes were so fluffy! Sweet view of SB pier and it's pretty quiet on a weekday.

Yelp
I love coming here. The food is amazing and the drinks are amazing. My favorite bartender is Sarah. She loves her job and she loves her customers. I'm going to miss that place.

Yelp
Great location right on the waterfront with the beach across the street. Street parking only but I didn't have issues finding a spot within a block or so. Atmosphere inside is nice and the service was good. Unfortunately all of the food was very bland. There just wasn't much flavor. I had a clam and mussel pot and ate it all, I just had to add salt to every bite. This was a little disappointing given that the prices are not cheap. Maybe just an off day in the kitchen but still a bit disappointing.

Yelp
Favorite family spot! You can dress up or down - enjoy a family dinner or happy hour at the bar. Beautiful view, great personelle and a nice walk when parking on main. The food is great eveyhring tastes good from appetizers to the e blackened mahi on grits! Service is quick and staff is on top of everything. 10/10!

Yelp
I would rate this place 3 and a half stars! Four of us stopped for lunch on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The place looks like a large wooden shack from the outside, and the first thing you see inside is a giant bar and the backs of all the people sitting at it. To me, this place has a dark, slightly dingy diner vibe. There was a central seating area, and then on the periphery of the restaurant near the windows was another seating area. The food took a long time to come out, and we had 2 servers so it was hard to know who to ask for help. Three of us ordered tacos, which came in twos with some crunchy homemade tortilla chips. The shrimps on the tacos were small; the blackened Mahi was a generous large chunk, and the fried fish was over cooked. The corn tortillas were slightly tough, and the slaw was watery so that liquid dripped out of the taco and onto your fingers as you tried to eat. The amount of slaw was a lot, so expect extreme messiness!! My daughter got the Panko -crusted mahi which came with mashed potatoes and large chunks of cooked zucchini and carrots. My daughter said the potatoes were a little watery too, but the fish was great. The couple sitting near us had a burger with a stack of giant onion rings. My husband couldn't help from asking them about their food, and they seemed happy. Overall, some hits and some misses, but the seafood was good overall.

Yelp
A pretty cool place to grab a snack and beer at the bar. We came here one late afternoon for happy hour. The bar is pretty cozy with bar seating and a few high-top tables. We were able to grab the last one this day. Yay! Service was nice and quick. So happy because I was getting hangry. I went for the Modelo on tap. Can't go wrong with that. We ordered two portions of sliders - one brisket and the other pulled pork. It was perfect to share. Calamari was tasty too. One of the best bar foods on my list. Lightly breaded and deep-fried to a crisp. There are a few choices of sauce. We had classic cocktail sauce and spicy aioli. Happy hour prices make me happy. Great deals great food. Located at Ocean and Main in downtown Seal Beach. Walk the beach and pier and reward yourself to a great meal or snack at The Hangout. Cheers!

Yelp
Food? Decent. Price was fine. Service? Terrible. Took forever for someone to get our order, to get water, and to get us the check. And ladies working here, PLEASE put on some bras.

Yelp
Met up with an old coworker for lunch at around 11:30am on a Monday. Not crowded at all. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. Have to admit it was a pretty good burger.

Yelp
Such a local gem, good food, great serves, views of the beach, water and Catalina (on clear days). It's a must go too. Fill up then walk the pier and Main St.

Yelp
we went to the Hang Out at 2:30 PM on a Saturday and were able to get a table right away. we were greeted by Graham who had brought two ice waters for the table. It was very warm outside. Thank you very much Graham for thinking of the water. we ordered a couple cocktails and our lunch. My sandwich came with pesto aïoli and I asked if I could just get it as pesto no aïoli. Graham said he would try his best to take care of that. After bringing us our food he came back with regular pesto! Thank you so much Graham for going the extra mile for my sandwich. Graham was very attentive and refilled my husband's water without asking. Very nice. When we left he shook her hands and we told him what a great server and how great the service was from him. he says I look forward to seeing you again. A big thank you to Graham for a wonderful experience. He is a big asset to the Hang Out!

Yelp
For a small restaurant, it has great food and terrific service..very friendly!! Love walking down the Seal Beach pier and stopping there for dinner or lunch. Breakfast is great too. Landmark restaurant for Seal Beach. The best little beach town in Orange County.

Yelp
The best Bloody Mary's ever! Great bartenders and delicious breakfast. All breakfasts, lunch & dinner are served in big portions and worth it

Yelp
A colleague introduced me to The Hangout a few months ago during the peak of summer. It's a great place to satisfy your hunger after expending some energy at the beach. I recall the place being pretty packed on the weekend around lunch time. We probably waited for about 30 minutes to an hour before being seated. Luckily, there were plenty of nearby stores to browse as we waited. I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy ($16.99), and I was shocked when they brought out this behemoth of a sandwich! It was so filled that I had to take a moment and strategize how to eat it. Everything about the sandwich was spot on, and the fries were great too. I really appreciate a good po' boy, and this place definitely knows how to make one! The only downside were the amount of flies buzzing around the restaurant and landing on the table throughout the meal, but I understand that might be difficult to control given The Hangout's location. Regardless, this place is a great bang for your buck.
google avatar

Esther C.

Yelp
Fun restaurant right along Main Street and the Pier. They said it would be a 25 minute wait but my party of 4 got off the waitlist earlier! The server checked in on us very frequently. We order their fish and chips. The fries that came with it were obviously hand cut and salted generously. The food was amazing and was also filling. After tax and tip, each person paid roughly $25-30.

Yelp
Located directly across the street from the Seal Beach pier, this place has great views of the beach area unless you come after dark for dinner like I did. The interior feels like an old beach cabin with its dark, rustic wood. Every stool at the long bar was taken when I walked in. Not imbibing in alcohol that night as I was on my way to work, I was escorted by a charming hostess to a two-top in a corner. I quickly ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Service here was friendly yet nervously inconsistent. I felt my server was new to the profession (ie - after taking my order telling me to 'have a nice day') but he did okay. The pulled pork sandwich came with fries. The sandwich itself had plenty of tender pulled pork bathed in Memphis BBQ sauce and topped with slaw. The bun initially looked large but was just 'puffy' and, actually, the bottom piece of the bun was inadequate to pick the sandwich up so I had to resort to knife and fork. The flavors were good but were nothing exceptional. The fries were seasoned really well and would have been better enjoyed with a beer. Definitely a place to enjoy an adult beverage while indulging in the bar food offerings. Otherwise it's simply decently average food.
