The Hard Hat

Went to the Hard Hat as a part of my buddies Bachelor party. We had a great time throwing darts and playing pool. Gary the bartender hustled to get us drinks until he couldn't breath. It's just a great small town watering hole.

The Hard Hat is the only bar in town. The drinks are cheap and the German bartender is very nice. Anywhere you sit in the bar you will have your own personal ashtray. Although smoking is required, vaping is not allowed. The regular crowd kept to themselves for the most part, with the exception of the woman playing darts who wanted to know where all the women were at and the drunk guy that approached to speak but was too drunk for words. (If you choose to come here, enter through the side door since the dart board is directly across from the front door).

Was in the area for the Terror Farm. Yeah, the smoke hits ya hard when you first walk in but the bartender (german lady) was awesome to talk to and took care of us. Definitely a small town bar where conversation is easy to have with the locals.

If you're in Newport and looking for a drink, this is the place. It's not pretty, but it is the epitome of a hole in the wall. Beware, they allow smoking but not vaping inside. Drinks were reasonably priced. Patrons and staff alike were friendly.

Hole in the wall bar. Side entrance wasn't well labeled but once in the place was definitely a dive bar. Bartender was nice and prices were good. Not a full house but definitely drew a crowd.

Haven't been here for a while planning on it though here soon, a little disappointed that they didn't do the hard hat drop on New Year's Eve. But all and all it's good. Good people, Good food believe it or not very good cheese steaks.... Yum.

I enjoyed myself it was a Saturday night,Maybe about 10 people including the Bar tender. Very people friendly. Lots of fun without the Drama.

I went into Turnbaughs with a friend on the way to a Penn State football game. Maybe the bartender was having a bad night, and maybe it was the last night before a long Saturday of cleaning, and maybe someone had called in sick, and maybe a few of the patrons were just tired after a long day of work...Maybe. But more than likely I would say that we were welcomed by nothing but the dense fog of powerful cigarette smoke when we walked in the door. We were further berated by the bartender, insulted, and served warm beer and lousy food (and we had to basically beg to get served at that). If it had not been for the long drive and they thought that my stomach was going to kill me from hunger, I would not have stayed long enough to hear the vulgar comments of the patrons and get the food In short, unless you are the typical White Trash of Perry County that resides within a 2 mile radius of this backdoor dumb, it should be avoided at all costs. Hopefully by the time this post hits yelp, the free market has already done its job of disposing of this awful place.
