Eater Survey: The Most Anticipated Boston Restaurant Openings of 2023 | Eater Boston

"Widely missed alongside other departures from the Hotel Commonwealth, the bar/restaurant's exit left a noticeable void in the city's nightlife and dining landscape, so its return or replacement is being watched closely." - Erika Adams

I’ve been living here for a month now, and so far everything has been great! The complex is overall quiet and clean. The neighbors we have are not noisy, and we hardly even run into anyone outside or have to deal with any excessive noise or lights. The amenities are nice and are easy to use. We are looking forward to using the grill and the pool when it warms up! We’ve had to put in several requests for maintenance since moving in and they have all been completed promptly, often on the same day. The maintenance workers James and Oscar are great too. The location is super convenient and we’ve walked to Publix and Winn Dixie several times now. The layout is great and really works for us, and we love the vinyl floors. The only thing I wish there were more of are parking spaces and some pantry space. I wish the windows opened easier too. When we were moving in, Abbey was so great to work with throughout the entire process, and the rest of the staff there (Inayha and Brandy) are kind and helpful too! The rules don’t feel too strict of overbearing as well. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for convenience, quietness, and a luxury feel for a more reasonable price.

Just recently moved in after a hectic opportunity presented itself and we needed a nice place to move into. Abbey was a rockstar and managed to help us get into a place on such a tight schedule. She and Mr Oscar are so sweet and friendly. We noticed issues just prior to the move in and they got taken care of the same day. I've lived in North Carolina most of my life and this was such an easy move for us that I genuinely felt I was still in the southern hospitality I'm used to. Its got a great location in a great school district, loads of things to do in the nearby area, and plenty of nice people in the complex. Only thing to watch out for is the drivers. Some people might need to go back to drivers ed.

Ladies and gentlemen, I wish that I could give The Hawthorne management team and specifically Abbey 6 stars! This has been hands down the most outstanding experience that I have ever had leasing an apartment. I moved to Jacksonville on a rushed basis for a job. And from day one Abbey and the Hawthorne have made this experience seamless. On top of the property being fabulous, with great amenities, they were completely accommodating in light of some difficulties I faced with the speed of my move. I am beyond delighted to call The Hawthorne my home. Thank you Abbey! You are the best!

I have debated writing a review for a long time but I feel like people should know what they are getting into before signing a lease. We are military and unfortunately did not have the luxury of visiting apartments in person before relocating to this area. Based on pictures, the websites, and reading reviews we made a decision to go with the Hawthorne apartments. The process started great and the office staff is absolutely fantastic! After being here for a few months things have just gone downhill. The apartments are very outdated and our unit was disgusting upon move in. I had to deep clean the apartment before even moving our furniture in. I made a note on the inspection sheet but didn’t want to make a big deal because we were excited to be in the area! As time goes on the pool is closed more then it is open, the front gates are always open so there is no sense of security, the husbands truck was attempted to be broken into, there is trash everywhere, nobody cleans up after their pets, and the dumpster is always littered with large trash. I know this is not necessarily the fault of the staff more on the residents. And finally this past weekend our AC unit went out in our apartment. After making an emergency service call service responded very quickly but are not able to attempt to fix it until Tuesday. Mind you it went out on a Saturday afternoon. But because it is a Holiday weekend they can’t do anything until Tuesday. We were given a portable unit that BARELY keeps the bedroom livable at night if all the doors are kept closed. While the rest of apartment stays at 90+ degrees which makes it unbearable to live in. We pay a fair bit in rent and would expect a lot more from a “luxury” apartment. Visit in person before signing a lease.

I recently toured with Abbey and had such a great experience! She was warm, knowledgeable, and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. The property itself was absolutely beautiful — clean, modern, and had everything I was looking for. If I hadn’t changed my plans about moving, I definitely would have made this my new home. Abbey made a lasting impression, and I highly recommend working with her if you’re looking for a new place!

Abbey was such a pleasure to work with during my tour! She was friendly, professional, and genuinely took the time to answer all my questions without making me feel rushed. The community was stunning — well-maintained grounds, great amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere. I was seriously impressed. Abbey made the whole experience enjoyable, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone apartment hunting!

I had the pleasure of touring the community with Abbey, and I can confidently say she made a lasting impression. From the moment I arrived, Abbey was incredibly welcoming and attentive. She took her time walking me through the community, making sure to answer every question I had with patience and genuine care. It never felt rushed—she made me feel like my needs and concerns truly mattered. The community itself was spotless and well-maintained, which stood out right away. Every area we visited looked clean, cared for, and inviting. It was clear that a lot of pride goes into keeping the place in great condition. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected job relocation, I’m no longer able to move to the area. But if that hadn’t happened, I would have absolutely chosen this community, largely because of the great experience Abbey provided. She was professional, knowledgeable, and made the entire process feel comfortable and easy.

I love the Hawthorne. The people that work here are extremely friendly. They’re currently undergoing upgrades to beautify the complex. They really care about their tenants and work hard to make people happy no matter how difficult it may be sometimes. The amenities are also nice. They have a room with the pool table, free coffee and it’s a very relaxing area. You can also rent this area for get-togethers. I definitely say come check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
