The Best Breakfast Sandwiches in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"A cute tea shop and cafe in a vintage Hawthorne house, Hazel Room’s breakfast sandwiches aren’t the kind to be snacked on while walking or driving; served on hearty cheddar-and-onion biscuits baked in-house, these stacked sandwiches offer variety beyond the usual mix of cheese, egg, and meat, even if that’s just a bit of jam and chevre on the Bacon Is my Jam, or prosciutto, pesto, arugula and pickled onion on a biscuit. Best, the restaurant also offers gluten-free biscuits." - Ben Coleman

The Best Tea Shops in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Whereas some tea shops on this list are dedicated to the delicate presentation of the subtlest, most thoughtfully sourced teas, the Hazel Room puts hearty breakfasts front and center in this renovated craftsman, with a strong selection of teas (and coffee) as a happy supplement. Sip potent black teas like smoky lapsang souchong or earthy assam to match the dynamic bacon (or tempeh)-packed biscuit sandwiches, spicy scrambles, and decadent French toasts. Linger in the afternoon with a house cocktail or grapefruit mimosa." - Nathan Williams

On the surface this place should be amazing. The menu makes everything sound delicious. And the presentation of each item and drinks are wonderful. The food. Just average on all accounts. Eggs Benedict. One egg cooked perfectly. The other the yolk was completely cooked. And so little hollandaise sauce it made the biscuit dry. And the sauce really had no flavor. Sandwich was also just ok. With a ton of mayonnaise. Like dripping. $5.50 for an iced tea as well. With no refills. Or I should say no refills? Because the waitress never came back. As mentioned. Very very average overall.

I had the Bee Gee breakfast and everything was chef’s kiss! The biscuits were savory and full of flavor, and the potatoes with the chicken sauce were the perfect combo. I added a side of the brioche French toast with berry compote—absolutely loved it. To top it off, the mixed berry mimosa was a refreshing and delicious touch. I will definitely be back! If you’re ever in Portland, make sure to stop by The Hazel Room for a top-tier brunch experience.

Wait time was normal for this place about 25-30 minutes. I ordered the gluten free French toast with eggs and bacon. The bacon and eggs were great however the French toast is more like eating a scone. Very dense. Had to ask for butter. Wait time for food was good. The bad part was that when we were finished eating and paid the bill they told us they were commandeering our table I didn’t even have time to socialize with my friend that I hadn’t seen in a year. If I would have known this beforehand I wouldn’t have left as big a tip as I did. We sat down at 10 and asked to leave at 10:45. If you want to be rushed out… I recommend this place.

Google
We really wanted to love this place but some of the food came up lacking a little bit. The poutine breakfast was amazing however! Cubed potatoes were cooked perfectly and had a wonderful smooth buttery texture. Chunks of melted cheese throughout, topped with “red eye gravy”(this was good gravy, but not even close to red eye gravy) and a fried egg… omg such a well-executed dish. Where they fell really short was their baked goods, they were very dry. The cheddar chive biscuits had decent flavor but were dry. The cinnamon roll was also dry. The biggest disappointment was the coconut cardamom French toast. This dish has such potential and sounds lovely, but the bread was very dry, very dense and very hard to physically eat due to the texture and rock-hard crusts. This isn’t your soft delicate and sweet French toast, this is a dry, hard dense bread with no batter kind of toast. The service was very fast and super friendly, and the establishment is clean and organized. They are SO close to being a fantastic breakfast joint, I think they just need another set of eyes (or mouth?) checking out there baked goods process.

Google
Very cute, quaint spot for brunch in an old house turned cafe. The interior is very cozy. The food was so good, and the menu had so many options that it was hard to choose! I loved the biscuits and gravy, with the mushroom gravy. My father-in-law said they made one of the best mocha’s he’d ever had too!

Joanne Maedl

Google
A really cool restaurant inside of an old house in a cool little neighborhood. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but not too bad. There are a number of gluten free options and the food was very good. The service was excellent. I sat outside right next to a gorgeous rose bush. I had the ‘Bee Gee’ which was biscuits and gravy, I chose chicken sausage for protein and eggs over easy. I also had a tequila Bloody Mary.

Google
Great gluten-free and vegetarian options. This place was excellent for a nice, cozy brunch along historic Hawthorne. The coconut, Filbert toast was delicious with perfectly cooked eggs and bacon. My partner had the biscuit breakfast and loved every bite. The grapefruit mimosa was balanced and fresh. We will be back!

Google
Still grieving their breakfast burrito. This is some of the best brunch in the city. I used to come here weekly, for their breakfast burrito, and while the rest of their food is amazing, I’m mostly just posting this review to plead with them to bring it back. It’s been years, but I still think about it often; like a long lost lover. But for real you can’t go wrong with this place, even if they did break my heart.

Yelp
Had the Square Meal with the roasted veggies option and it was scrumptious! The veggies had a subtle Asian flair to them which was a delightful and tasty surprise. Gluten Free toast was nice and chewy and the jam was terrific. They have a very cozy space that is now twice the size of what it was when I was last here several years ago. Theres also a few tables on the porch outside. Service was very nice. This is definitely one of my top spots for breakfast in PDX!

Yelp
I walked by this cozy, charming spot looking for a brunch with 3 others on a Satuday morning. Luckily, we got seating swiftly with a funny, bubbly waiter. The food was delicious! It is what I would consider brunch comfort food. I got a bacon, egg, cheese biscuit. My friends and I couldn't stop talking about how good the biscuit was all weekend! The potatoes were made just right with plenty of flavor. This is a great spot for any brunch enthusiast that is looking for fresh, comforting flavors

Yelp
This is a really cute spot with good food and huge portions. Great options for all diets. The bathroom is also very clean. Service is friendly but slow.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and we were so happy with our choice! I really liked the choice of juice for the mimosas, and they were so cute!! Also, all of our dishes were to die for. They were so filling and delicious. The service was great, even on a busy Saturday we were seated immediately. The restaurant itself can feel a bit cramped so we sat outside which was great. Will definitely be coming here again!

Yelp
Great ambiance within the cafe, but the quality of food was disappointing for the high prices we paid. The servers were very kind and knowledgeable about dietary restrictions.

Yelp
How did we not know about or find this lovely eatery on Hawthorne until now? My daughter and I came for breakfast and grabbed a spot on their patio on a beautiful spring day! The server was fast, bubbly, and most especially dog friendly! The food was outstanding. We shared the Prociutto Benedict and Breakfast Poutine. One was more delicious than the other. The curds were perfectly chewy and pully and the red eye gravy topping it was wonderfully savory. The poached eggs on the Benedict were perfect and oozed into the cheddar chive biscuit underneath. Amazing! So many more interesting items to try on the menu that we can't wait to return!

Yelp
I came on a Sunday for brunch to meet up with a friend. I did not prepare to wait since this place gets busy. We waited almost 50 minutes for a table for the both of us. Granted the place is quite small. The atmosphere is so cute though. It reminds you of a quiet and hidden speak easy bar that will take you back in time. The reason I gave it a 4 and not a five is because of the wait that it took to get a table for two and the amount it took to get our food which was about 35 mins. Also I have to admit, I might have been super impatient because I was just super hungry. Lol. You know? After a long wait to get in and then a long wait to get the food. I was hangry. But the food was so delicious! The French toast tasted like a cross between bread pudding and French toast. And the orange juice so yummy and freshly squeezed. I definitely will come back. Note to self: make a reservation ahead of time for brunch. Lol.

Yelp
We were greeted with a very warm welcome and an open door. The staff were very helpful and extremely welcoming. This place has many popular picks. I went with the Bee Gee Breakfast plate and my wife selected the Bacon Benedict plate. I had a orange juice and my wife braved the flavors of the grapefruit juice.

Yelp
I originally visited the Hazel Room in June and had a delightful time. I even met the owner because she was working front of house and made rounds to my table. Fast forward to today, I walked in and was greeted by name by the owner herself! Thanks so much for the hospitality, Sarah! folks like you make it harder for me to convince myself not to move here. A must-hit if traveling to portland or if you're needing a good weekend brunch spot

Yelp
I came into this restaurant by myself and was greeted with such sweetness. The restaurant manager is knowledgeable as she is sweet. She was quick to offer me her recommendations and made me such a beautiful cocktail with tequila. I would and have recommended this place to many of my friends because of how warm and welcoming the staff made me feel. It's in a wonderful place in se and definitely a yummy brunch spot.

Yelp
We came in on Friday morning for a lovely breakfast-this was a great start to the day! We were given a QR code to scan menus. We enjoyed 2 cocktails with our breakfast: Lapsang Tango-this cocktail is smoked orange water with tequila benefits. The aftertaste was incredible. This is a great cocktail for a tea lover. Hot Nurse-this was basically a hot toddy, but perfect for a rainy morning. And a Mocha: Full and light-not too sweet! We ate: Eggs Benedict with Bacon: The potatoes were excellently seasoned, and the hollandaise was amazing. The eggs and chewy bacon were placed on top of flaky biscuits. The portion size was perfect too-it wasn't too much food but still good value and was pure indulgence. Red eye: The house gravy is fantastic! It is peppery without being too spicy, and their biscuits are flaked to perfection. We also got the eggs Benedict with prosciutto. While I preferred the bacon one, I think it's just a general preference. We loved it here and can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This WAS my favorite place to eat. I came here today for my birthday brunch after putting my dog down the day before to CHEER MYSELF UP and left without even eating and feeling extremely unwanted and treated very rudely. The hostess and our waitress was extremely rude from the start. After waiting 40 minutes for our food and watching people around us who had ordered at least 10-15 after us ate the same exact food we had ordered all around us. I'm extremely sad and will not be returning even though it's my favorite food. This experience was absolutely horrible. It's unfortunate that one persons attitude and actions can color something so poorly. The only other Yelp review I have ever written was when my friend was racially profiled at a bar. I don't enjoy writing this.

Yelp
**vegetarian review ** I called ahead to be put on the waitlist and it was about an hour long wait. But so worth it!! I ordered bee gee breakfast with country gravy and biscuit Benedict with tomato! And mocha. The mocha was perfection!!! The biscuits in both the dishes were really nice. I preferred the biscuit Benedict over the mushroom gravy of bee gee breakfast but that's definitely personal preference and by no means was the mushroom gravy bad. Both the sides came with a side of the most delicious potatoes. I loved every bites And will definitely come back for more!!!
google avatar

Isabelle S.

Yelp
Such a charming place but the food was just okay for me. I got the square meal with the chickpea eggs, vegan toast, tempeh bacon, and potatoes and I didn't really love the plant based substitutes. I want to go back to try something else though because the bloody mary was great and the place is super cutie.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the food here. I had the Bee Gee breakfast with apple sausage and country gravy and it was very satisfying. Biscuits were very tasty unique and delicious. Potatoes were great. This place might just be my new go-to place for breakfast/brunch meals now, although it is pricey. All places are pricey these days but at least here, you're going to get quality food for your top dollar. Service was fine and the building itself reminds me of an antique bed and breakfast. We were fortunate enough to get a window table, enjoyed people watching the Hawthorne foot traffic.

Yelp
Super cute place! Food was delicious. I had a fruit compote mimosa which was lovely and the breakfast sandwich. Our server was attentive and friendly. We did not see Tom the ghost though, as the sign welcoming you in, said that he lived there.

Yelp
Adored this place. Food was amazing and simple. Champagne serving size was lit. Will be coming back.

Yelp
Pretty nice place for breakfast/brunch. I was in the area and decided to give it a try. It a house turn restaurant on hawthorne. They have indoor and out door seating. I order the Hazel plate and it was pretty tasty. They also had some really good hot sauce. My friend order the egg benedict and said it was good. I think the next time I come I'll order the egg benedict. Everyone was very friendly.

Yelp
I just called at 1:45pm on 5/5/23 pertaining to an order placed on Uber eats that never arrived. The "Manager" answered the phone and refused to give out her name all while asking for my information and was terribly rude after I mentioned that I wanted a REFUND & I couldn't get a hold of Uber. I specifically stated that twice, then she asked me a number of 4 times if there was something I could do in my app because she was refusing to help me... I was looking for a good clean eats restaurant that had gluten-free brunch and thought I finally found the spot, but due to the terrible quality of service over the phone I will not be spending my hard-earned money at this establishment ever again! Now I'm having to look for something else to eat and my nerves are so revved up I don't have the appetite anymore thanks Hazel Room!! It shouldn't be this difficult to find something healthy to eat in 2023

Indra T.

Yelp
This place is so cute and cozy. So many tea options! And I love their biscuits and gravy - i think it's awesome that you can get it vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, or standard. gone here are the days where being a vegetarian requires you to be gluten free or vice versa! homey and sweet inside, and though the menu seems small there's enough variety and sides to keep it interesting and appeal to all sorts.

Yelp
Came in at noon on a Saturday and waited only 30 min. We ordered French toast compote, a side of biscuits and gravy and the beegees breakfast (I think that's what it's called). I am giving this place 2 stars because that biscuit is the hardest and driest biscuit I have ever had in my life. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that but mine and my sisters biscuit felt and looked burnt at the bottom, it was hard to cut through with a butter knife and it was just really dry. The gravy was ok. The French toast was soft and thick but lacked sweetness. The compote was bland and whipping cream didn't add any sweetness to it. We were excited and hungry to try this place but left unsatisfied.

Yelp
Food was amazing!! 100% worth the wait. I don't think there was anything that didn't blow us away.

Yelp
Been wanting to check out this place based on a friend's recommendation and it didn't disappoint. We ordered the breakfast burrito winch was a delicious blend of flavors and had lots of their yummy potatoes as well. If you don't get a dish with the potatoes I highly recommend ordering a side of them with their house parmesan aioli sauce. Service was great but wish they had more options for breakfast food like omelettes and pancakes. Would recommend checking them out!

Savanna L.

Yelp
Beautiful speak easy vibes. Lovely cocktails, very romantic. Can't wait to come back, only open a month come support this new awesome space!

Yelp
Really sweet space in Portland. We sat outside and ordered breakfast at around noon on a weekday. I got scrambled eggs with homemade sausage and excellent coffee. My son got an omelette filled with asparagus and brie. Our server was super friendly and attentive. There also seemed to be a small clothing boutique connected to the Hazel Room, it looked like it had some great items but I did not stay to look around as Covid precautions were firmly in place and it felt like it was better to stay outside at our table
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
Loved my breakfast here. Never had onion jam before but the Bacon is my Jam biscuit sandwich was divine. Friendly service and quaint interior. A nice selection of cocktails. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
With our first choice for brunch offering only pick-up or delivery, and ourselves wanting to get out of the house, we wandered over to Hawthorne and stumbled onto this little gem! Tucked away inside, and sharing the space with, a vintage house alongside a women's clothing store, the handful of tables were spaced appropriately for the Covid-19 age. The host was cheerful and inviting, seating us immediately at a table nestled between two gorgeous painted windows. I ordered the Prosciutto and Pesto biscuit and a couple Bloody Mary's with whiskey instead of vodka (my choice; they also offered tequila as a base), while my wife had the "Bacon is my Jam!", alongside a grapefruit mimosa. Service oscillated between fantastic and lackluster. The aforementioned host (a young gentleman) was fantastic, whereas our waitress was rather aloof and inattentive; rarely did we see her other than our initial order and the delivery of our orders. A side order of bacon was missed entirely. These oversights were made up for by (the woman whom I assume was) the manager, who picked up the slack with grace and poise, and seemed to be working her ass off at the bar, as well as the general management of the restaurant. For those so included, there is a plentiful variety of vegan and vegetarian options on the menu; the vegan burrito only just barely missed making it to my plate, but I do not regret my order one bit! Both of our sandwiches were phenomenal, with the biscuits themselves being among the best we've ever had: thick and moist, and didn't crumble and fall apart like most biscuits do. These ones held together like champs! And that bacon with jam is a beautiful contradiction of flavors: the bacon is the element that fuses all of the constituent elements together for one sensational, savory sandwich! I was a little jealous, and my sandwich was no slouch: pesto and prosciutto with pickled onions is a divine combo!

Yelp
Tried to come here for Sunday brunch, but we realized we had gotten there too late since they are first-come-first-serve and the waitlist had filled up already. Came back today on a Monday instead, and we had much better success! The Hazel Room is located inside an aesthetically pleasing home, making for a warm and vibrant dining experience. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, which made our experience even better. It really does have an overall home-y vibe here at The Hazel Room. I ordered an oat matcha latte to drink, which I really enjoyed. It was not overly sweet like a lot of places have their matcha, and it the oat milk was super nice and frothy. To eat, I ordered the prosciutto eggs benedict with potatoes, which was our server's suggestion, and I'm reallyyy glad that I went with it. It was one of the best eggs benedicts that I've had at a restaurant, and the sauce had an amazing flavor. They have red and green salsas for your dishes, and the red salsa went perfectly with mine. The dish and our overall experience was definitely a 10/10. I would suggest coming here during a less busy time during the week, if you can, otherwise there will most definitely be a long line and wait time. It was also nice having a quieter, more pleasant brunch experience :)

Yelp
A great variety of options to choose from. We had the gluten free French toast and the eggs Benedict with the gluten free biscuit. Both were really good. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
B e s t E g g s B e n e d i c t I n P o r t l a n d. What more must I say? The entire ensemble was exquisite. The eggs were poached to runny yolk perfection. The hollandaise sauce was so delightful I could've drank it. The potatoes were crispy by default which was appreciated. The French Connection truly spoke my language. The compote mimosas were on another level. The ambience and staff were phenomenal. If you're looking for a top notch brunch establishment, look no further.

Yelp
I'll preface this review by saying I'm born and raised in Georgia and live in Atlanta now. I visited Hazel Room while visiting friends who live in the area. We had to wait for a while to get a table but the hostess was extremely sweet and kind, and made sure to update us frequently on the status of our table. Once we were seated I decided to order the biscuits with red eye gravy. Now, I like to joke that my physical being is made up of 60% biscuits and gravy because of how much I ate it growing up - my mother and both my grandmothers are phenomenal southern cooks. THE HAZEL ROOM BISCUITS AND GRAVY ARE ON PAR WITH THE BEST OF EM I haven't stopped craving it since I got back... It was so delicious - perfectly seasoned with chunks of crispy bacon on top of a salty, buttery, soft-on-the-inside biscuit. my only critique is that I had to order and extra side of gravy. We like our biscuits completely smothered in gravy lol. I highly recommend coming here even if you have to wait - you won't regret!

Ann T.

Yelp
What's worse white entitlement or an establishment that favors it? Maybe both. Well, come to Hazel Room and you can experience both. A party of 4 Caucasians in front of my daughter and I decided the 25 min wait was too long so they declined, left and walked outside. My daughter and I (2 petite Asian females) however decided to wait but luckily a table was opening up so the host informed us we could be seated as soon as the table was cleared. The party that declined standing outside then noticed the open table, walked back inside and inserted their way in front of us, asking for the table. The host gave the table to the party of 4 Caucasian's (after telling us we would be seated at the table), as if we no longer existed. No apology, no acknowledgement, nothing, just left us standing there. Unfortunately we're from out of town so we didn't know where else to go or else we would have just left. That said 15/20 mins later we're finally seated as if nothing happened. Making for the most utterly bitter experience. Perhaps the situation didn't have anything to do with favoritism to race but one thing is for certain, my daughter and I were disregarded and shown absolutely no respect in comparison to the other party. So that summarizes the experience, what about the food you ask? To be fair, it was average. Honestly? It was not horrible but definitely NOT WORTH seeking out. More importantly how we were made to feel out weighed any quality of food they could have brought us.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Great food! Such a good time but a little on the slow side as far as service goes. Definitely go early or during the week. Limited seating but they have outdoor if it's nice out! Great food. Great coffee.

Yolanda P.

Yelp
The food was decent and the building is really cool. Went there for breakfast and it took at least 2 hours to get our breakfast. I didn't mind because I was visiting with friends but if I was really hungry, I would have had an issue. No one apologized or said anything about the delay, which in retrospect, was pretty strange.
google avatar

Andrew A.

Yelp
It's been five years since my last visit and I'm still delighted. The Bacon Is My Jam was just the right size, the biscuit ranks among the best in breakfast-heavy Portland. The side salad would have been just okay it it wasn't for the two awesome condiment compotes found at every table. Of course, it's not only about the food: the charm of the old house, especially when looking out onto Hawthorne Blvd. via the large window, earns instant kudos. And service was beyond just order taking, the guy was very charismatic and fast.
google avatar

Carrie G.

Yelp
Yum! A cool spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch on the (dog friendly) patio or inside no long lines or hype, just great food and service at decent prices. I had a (huge) cup of curry carrot soup with rye toast and a pear and arugula salad with lavender goat cheese. Everything was tasty and fresh. It has the homemade taste and feel of a bistro run by people who care about crafting a great meal and experience. My friend had the prosciutto and egg sandwich with fries and said he really liked it. I stole some of his fries and they were tasty. I loved that they gave us hot sauce with the ketchup and condiments. The bathroom journey takes you on a weird maze thru a clothing store and into the back in a Narnia broom closet kinda kinda way. Minus the witchcraft and lions. All in all it was a nice vibe and good food. Not too expensive. If you're in that neighborhood it's worth a stop.
google avatar

Haley G.

Yelp
A very unique dining experience with a restaurant and boutique connected! The ambience was very comfortable and chic. The menu was very inclusive for those with dietary restrictions and had a lot of options!

Yelp
One of many gems along the Hawthorne Road. Discovered this small hole in the wall when a meeting at "Fried egg, I'm in Love" fell through. This place is small with limited seating, luckily we beat the lunch rush; but we still had to sit at the counter. We were pleasantly surprised by their menu items as other than their Biscuits and gravy the rest of the menu are different from your typical cafes. Both my fiancee and I were immediately drawn to " The TallBoy," and rightfully so. This thing is AMAZING. Pulled pork, gravy, bratwurst, and caramelized onions, all sandwiched between a fluffy yet crunchy cheddar biscuit. The onions offer a sour and sweetness that cuts through the heaviness of the bratwurst and pork. My only grievance was that it all seemed to end before it began. Despite being served with a side of roasted potatoes, I felt like I could've eaten a whole other biscuit.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
This place was really cozy and reminded me of eating breakfast at my grandmas house..... but like in a sweet nostalgic way lol They had great gluten-free options, I had gluten-free French toast and it was really great. The tofu scramble was definitely subpar, pretty small portions, but very good flavor. Everybody was happy with their food! We just all wish their was a bit more
google avatar

Yelp
Talk about yummy! My two favorite things in one...French toast and bread pudding. I def recommend the compote with it. My friend had the vegan TLT and loved it. Atmosphere was cool. Noise level average inside.
google avatar

Jeannine D.

Yelp
The eggs benedict was amazing and the mimosas are huge! I'm honestly not sure if I've had better eggs benedict than this and I order it almost everywhere I go. The side salad was perfect too. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Wonderful warm space, good food, a full bar and all the tea you could ever want whilst chatting with a friend all afternoon. We both had the biscuits and gravy. My over easy eggs were perfect. The biscuits were, I think, skillet made and so on the crisp and dense side, not the big and fluffy side, which worked very well. Lots of yummy gravy. We were both very happy. The space itself is covered with art for sale, and it rotates every month to feature another local artist, including a monthly art show. What put this over the top for us though was the service. Toward the end, I nicely told our server that the coffee was not very hot, just to suggest this might be an opportunity to improve an already great experience. He took it really well and we even talked about maybe getting a better serving thermos like Zojirushi. And then, afterward, when we least expected it, he showed up with two fresh, hot cups of coffee he just made and took the old coffees away. We'd have been happy enough had he not, but that he did was just awesome. Really thinking about adopting this place! ;)

Yelp
I've been craving french toast & was so excited to see a gluten free (GF) & vegan (V) option!! It was DELICIOUS, along with my coconut milk latte. My partner said the burrito was one of the best he's ever had. We got there at 9:30am on a Saturday & were seated inside right away. We went back another weekend around 11:30am & were seated outside, & our service was subpar (it felt like they forgot about us). The GF Standard Biscuit Sandwich was good, but I think I'll stick to the french toast or try something else if we go back. Overall, I'm so pleased to see numerous gluten free (GF) & vegan (V) options, & the coffee is incredible. I recommend getting there early to avoid a wait!

Yelp
Delicious food and coffee. The brunch is impeccable and the dishes are elevated from a traditional diner

Yelp
This place is legit. Forreal. Brunch is my jam. They will not disappoint. Got there early enough that it wasn't too crowded yet so we were seated right away. I kicked my meal off by getting the Moroccan coffee because definitely needed a pick me up. Topped with one cube of sugar and a smidge of milk and that woke me right up. I followed it up with the matcha concoction which to be honest was way better. But the order I got them worked better. Per usual, KFran and I decided to go halsies. We split the Bacon is my jam and Brisket Bisquit. I also got a side of the polenta. My goodness everything was out of this world good. I highly suggest you ask for hot sauce. They give you two in a jar. The hotter version was definitely my personal favorite. I added a very generous portion with every bite. That red gravy was also just wow. I had a little extra biscuit and decided to dip it with the gravy. Best idea ever. I'm going to say it again because it's true - you're doing it right Portland. You're doing it right

Yelp
The breakfast burrito was pretty good but not amazing, the salsa was also very spicy. I didn't like how their potatoes were hard but it was good. The gluten free bread was what surprised me because it was so thick and it didn't fall apart when you bit into it, a lot of gf bread has fallen apart. The jam was also a nice touch! No complaints about the fruit cup, everything was very fresh and sweet (only berries tho)

Yelp
Sometimes in other breakfast restaurants, all I can do is think of this place. Not only is the drink selection alone worth it, but I can't stop thinking about their cardamom gluten-free French toast with hazelnuts. That combination plus their syrup is something I've never found anywhere. I've tried ordering other things there, which are wonderful. But it's that French toast that keeps me coming back. Go there and get it, even if you are not gluten-free. The flavors make me drool.
