What a lovely family owned business. Truly kind people who want the best for their customers. Kelsey is precious, patient, and fun. She explained everything I needed to know to care for my curls. I felt so very well taken care of. I will be happy to return again soon.

John is great. Super quick, super friendly, and has great taste in movies. Was a fool and got my time wrong and ended up being 15 minutes late - he was kind and treated it like no issue (although please don't be like me and show up late) Highly, highly recommend - my hair always looks great.

Today I got a "Scalp Treatment" along with my haircut. And I highly recommend to anyone experiencing a dry itchy scalp especially in these cold winter months. I feel so fresh and nourished. This will be a regular addition for all my cuts now. Also HOT TOWEL SHAVES! you don't need to get clean shaven to have this spoiling spa experience. (I myself have a full beard)It moisturizes the skin and softens the hair for a better shave, plus crazy relaxing all men need this. If you have the time I highly recommend to do this at least once a month if not every trim you get.

I went a week ago to get a pink balayage done with Kelsey. It turned out amazing! My hair is soft and my curl pattern not at all impacted by the bleach, and the pink looks amazing, its blended in such a way with my natural brown that it actually makes my curl definition more apparent. Kelsey was great and if you want to get color done or a wavy hair cut I can't recommend her enough!

The is my favorite place to get a haircut. It's literally a shed but the space was remodel to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. John does such a great job with my hair. He understands curly hair - which is a rare find! I highly recommend the Head Shed. They book up fast but it's so easy to schedule an appointment through the Vagaro app.

I got an appointment in under 2 weeks with Kelsey. It was my first time at the salon and it was a super cute vibe. I came in with hair I hadn't had cut in so long, I really didn't even know what I wanted. Kelsey was able to pick out a cut and style for me. I am so happy with how it turned out. I really just wanted it to feel healthy again, but she also gave me a super cute cut. Good prices too!

It's a pretty chill shop, good vibes. Easy to book online, easy parking. Nice and clean inside. I've gone to the dude 4 times now for skin fades/clipper cuts & I've been happy each time w the results. We've tried out a few different styles and the process of figuring out what to do is fun/painless.

I had such a great experience with Kelsey & Jon from start to finish. I have been wanting to transform my hair with shades of purple & pink for so long & Kelsey finally made my dreams come true. She took into consideration the texture of my hair & we were able to get it to a lovely pinky/purple hue without bleaching it. Kelsey was kind, detail oriented, and overall incredibly pleasant. Even though Jon didn't work on my hair, he sat down in between his appts to chit chat with me while Kelsey worked on my hair for almost 4 hours. I enjoyed the conversations I had with both Kelsey & Jon and the overall experience felt like I was getting my hair done by a close friend in a really comfortable setting. I will be returning to Kelsey & Jon from now on for all my hair care needs. I also really love that they are a certified sustainable salon which means that they recycle containers, aluminum foil, paper, etc & they even donate the cut hair! Highly recommend this awesome duo!

I've been going to the Head Shed for a couple months now. Kelsey and John are a welcoming duo and always up for a lively conversation. I see Kelsey for short haircuts and she's totally open to my ideas (even when they are vague). She's made some awesome hair designs like fade line work and faux hawks. I get lots of compliments after a cut here. It's affordable, and online scheduling is easy. You can tell they put a lot of heart in their craft.

If you live anywhere near South Park, this is the place to go for a haircut! I can only speak to the quality of haircuts, as it's the only service I've used, but I've left each time so happy with my hair. John really listened to what my hair goals are and helped me clean up the ends, making my hair look so fresh and healthy while still preserving my length. If you're at all like me, a women who only ever wants max 2 inches cut off the ends, you won't find anywhere with a better price. He's quick, friendly, and their location is cozy and adorable. Support this fantastic local family business.

Going through the reviews, I decided to give The Head Shed a shot at my hair. Honestly, at that point, a huge disaster was almost close to impossible and if it did happen, I'd just shave it off; I was over my hair. Just about two months ago, I decided to cut my mid - back length hair to an edgy asymmetrical pixie style. I'm mixed which means I have mixed hair and according to charts, my hair texture is 3b/c. I don't have a "regular" hair stylist so I just went to a salon after another yelp reviewing and long story short, it was a complete failure and I was extremely upset and disappointed with the outcome. I found a way to "style" my awful chop and once it grew enough, I researched again and found The Head Shop. I explained to Kelsey what happened, showed her a couple of pictures, we talked about the cut, and she started her work. I had scheduled a scalp treatment and a pixie cut and as she went through the treatment process, she gave me tips and advice for my scalp and styling, and we talked about Devacurl stylists and products. (I've never bought their products o r experienced a Devacurl cut but hear they're amazing for curlies.) Once she was done with the treatment, she blotted my hair and started the cut on damp and moisturized hair. The most impressive part of my experience with Kelsey is that she took SO much time on my hair. She literally took every curl and cut them the way I'd imagine a deva stylist would. When she was done there was nothing but perfect black Cs all over the floor. It was amazing and also the pixie was awesome. I've done a "big chop" when i was in college but it was literally a chop. What Kelsey cut and styled is really fabulous, I was SO happy when I saw my new cut. If I can keep Kelsey as my stylist, I know I'll have this look to upkeep for awhile instead of growing out my hair. Thank you again SO much!!

Best pixie cut I've had in years. I've been searching for a stylist since losing my fave 3-4 years ago. John knows a pixie and does it well. And a super cool guy to chat it up with to boot!

Had a great experience going from long hair a pixie! Jon asked me several questions about my hair before he started and listened when I said I wanted it a bit shorter. The salon was a fun small space - I was the only one there. Easy to schedule. Nice ppl. Offered to fix anything if I felt like I needed it after getting home and got used to it.

I've gone twice now and am very happy with my new hairdresser. The shop is immaculate. There is no chemical smell. The space is open and there is complete adherence to recommended safety protocols. I highly recommend Micheal. I have curly hair and he know how to cut and style it.

I visited Josh for a cut and would definitely return. The space is relaxing and Josh and Kelsey are both so kind. The cut took about 45 minutes including shampoo which is definitely slightly shorter than other cuts I've had in the area (something I appreciate). There's ample parking outside and it's easy to make a reservation (and even change it if you need to, like I did) online!

This was the first salon I have been to as an adult to get my hair cut. I got there early so I drove around for a bit. When I came into the shop, Kelsey greeted me with a bright smile and so did John. Right away we got to working on my mess I did with my hair and she cut it to a length I desired and was manageable. Our conversations were great as well. Can't wait to go back soon for my haircut.

John is a fantastic barber. He listens and can hear what I want even when I struggle to find the word to describe it. The shop feels very safe and I like the precautions John is taking. My cut is fresh. When my regular barber retired I feared for finding a replacement. No worries now. John and the Head Shed are it! Check him out.

I feel so lucky that I found this cool little place! Love the online booking option and how easy it was to get in to see John! I was warmly greeted into the fun space and offered a beverage. I didn't have to wait at all to get into the styling chair. John asked questions, offered suggestions and didn't seem in a rush at all. While cutting, John was the perfect balance of chatty but also chill. The cut is cool and my curls have not looked this good in a long time! Prices for services and products were very reasonable. I have high hopes that I've found my new hair stylist!

Beware of this!!! If you have them make your appointment for you, make sure its the service you are asking for. Otherwise you will be paying for a haircut, color etc.. that you did NOT ASK FOR!!!! NOT WORTH IT!

Kelsey and John are both great. Kelsey has been coloring my hair since we moved to South Park last summer. I made a drastic color change but it turned out great. I love the color. The products she uses are fantastic and despite lightening my hair it's the best condition it's been in for years. Both Kelsey and John have cut my husbands hair and he has been very happy. We love that Kelsey and John are our neighbors, it's great to talk to them about the goings on of the neighborhood and to be able to support a local, small business. Their prices are extremely reasonable, they have extended hours for people with different work schedules and they do a great job. Definitely check them out!

Kelsey has a great shop! Her shop is super cute and welcoming, in a convenient location. She is very friendly and personable. I felt very comfortable telling her exactly what I wanted she executed it perfectly. It feels so current and stylish. Products feel and smell great, as well as very natural and minimalistic-- which is my preference. Shop felt very safe and COVID/ health conscious. I highly recommend.

I waited too long in between cuts again and the usual places just were not working out. I hit up the HeadShed last minute and Kelsey was able to get me in right away. The location is just a quick drive to South Park and I was there. Great little place and Kelsey and her Husband are trying real hard to do it ALL right. Great prices Great services Great attitude and they are helping the world by being GREEN certified! Hell ive worked at Aveda salons that didn't even recycle! Check em out and give them your business. You and they deserve it.

It was super easy to make an appointment online. The shop is cute and cozy. Kelsey was amazing and very comfortable to be around. I told her what i wanted done and she listened and gave me some insights on what to expect. I was cutting off a lot of hair so Kelsey wanted to make me happy while not having unrealistic expectations of what my hair would look like since i hadn't had it cut that short before. She was very easy to talk to and was also not forcing the conversation. There are times when i hate going to the hairdressers because i dread the small talk. Kelsey didn't force the conversation which i appreciated, it just came naturally as we watched a documentary. My haircut itself was perfect for my face. I showed her a picture of what i wanted and she tailored it to my face. I constantly get compliments on my hair cut, even as it grows out. Kelsey is amazing and i can't recommend her enough!

This joint is the BEST experience I have EVER had getting my hair done. EVER. I went in with a head full of dreads and spent the afternoon with these guys getting a high fade. I highly recommend them!!!! Awesome little spot, sustainable, great products, and super personable. If you're lookin for a dope do... hit these guys up!!

I recently went in for a haircut with absolutely no notice on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to see that they were open. Kelsey greeted me and was super friendly and more than willing to help tame my mane. She did an awesome job and listened very closely to what I wanted. The cut included a shampoo and condition, paraffin hand dip, and blow dry. Very relaxing! The best part, she cut my hair exactly like I had hoped for. The second best part, didn't chat my ear off or attempt to force a conversation. She allowed the conversation to happen organically! Fancy that! While there I learned that among their many services, they also offer a process called Uberliss Keratin Treatment. I learned that this was similar to a Brazilian Blowout but without the formaldehyde making it a much safer treatment. I've received Brazilian Blowouts before and always hated the smell and the fact that there needed to be a fancy ventilation system in order to not choke to death on the fumes. I promptly booked my service with her for that coming Tuesday. The keratin treatment process is long (much longer for me as I have hair down to my butt and it's also extremely thick), but now, after a little over a week since my treatment, I am in love! I've only rarely been able to get out of the shower and let my hair air dry and not end up with a big poof ball on the top of my head! The manageability of my hair as well as the smoothness and softness are such wonderful feelings. I highly recommend this place! Kelsey and John are absolutely wonderful people and so so good at what they do! Go! You won't be disappointed.

I hit up The Head Shed on short notice mainly because they're a new local business. I got much more than I bargained for. John was able to get me in pretty quickly...so off I went. The address takes you to a house, the actual shop is around the corner...obviously where the mannequin head is located. John and Kelsey are super nice, the atmosphere is super laid back. In fact so laid back that the resident stray cat, that may or may not be pregnant, was fighting sleep as well. I got a great cut. Every cut comes with a paraffin hand dip and shampoo and style...YEP...I'm in. Done, done, and almost fell asleep during the hot towel on my face and the straight razor lineup. I'll be back...thanks again John! PS: They have a number of specials right now and in the coming months, don't forget to ask!

Started going to this place about a year and a half ago when I first moved to Seattle. Tired of the "barber shop banter" and salon gossip, this place is a great, refreshing change. Both Kelsey and John are great, kind, and chill people who are great at their craft. If you are looking for a chill place to get a haircut/dye job/whatever, I strongly suggest you book an appointment and try them out!

Cool, little, funky shop in South Park. It's great to see people like John and Kelsey and other small businesses setting up shop in the area and pumping new life into South Park. I've been trying to find a local barber who could provide me a basic, relatively inexpensive haircut that was exactly what I wanted on a consistent basis for a very long time. I finally found what I was looking for at The Head Shed. John not only provided that service but much more. He listens, his meticulous, and he ensures you are completely satisfied with the cut. All with a chill but professional attitude. I highly recommend you give John a try no matter what type of hair cut you are wanting. I'm sure you'll be happy as a clam you made the visit.

I was in Seattle for about 36 hours and wanted to do something nice for myself. I got an open spot and great response for scheduling what may as well have been a walk in appointment. They are really great artists with a warm and friendly manner. I love to support small business, and this being a family business was even better. The vibe was fun yet professional. While I was there getting a scalp treatment (very relaxing) a young lady was at the other station getting a trim and fashion color for an upcoming wedding. My service was thorough and exactly what I needed. Being in south Seattle, the location was super easy to get to, the on street parking was right across from their shop, and if you are interested in such things, they also would qualify as a veteran owned/woman owned partnership.

First visit here. Amazing cut! I have very thick, curly hair that is a huge pain. It was no problem for Kelsey. Nice space, very relaxing. Everything was great and reasonably priced. Impressed and will be back!!

Absolutely LOVE these two! Upon moving to Seattle I was looking for a stylist for curly hair-and came across the Head Shed on Yelp. Kelsey is fantastic! She really listens to what I'm looking for and does an excellent job with my short curly hair. My husband goes to John for his hair cuts too. I always feel completely at home with these two and the conversation is always fun!

I cheated on my regular hairdresser to try out The Head Shed. I have long hair that can be pretty boring, but Kelsey worked with the natural waves of my hair and transformed me into a supermodel (well, at least I felt like one...) Because of their great prices, proximity to my house, high quality results, and great atmosphere, I'll be a regular from now on. (Sorry, old hairdresser xo)

I had been without a regular stylist for a couple of years when I read Kelsey's post on the neighborhood Listserv. This was before her shop had opened and she was making house calls! That was great because I booked appointments for both myself and my mom, in my own home! My mom has severe hair loss and has been chopping at her own hair for years because she's too embarrassed to be have anyone see her in a public salon/shop . About a year went by and The Head Shed opened just down the street from my home. What a cozy and welcoming space Kelsey and John have created! Kelsey was great at listening to my concerns about past cuts from other stylists that I wasn't happy with, always double checking with me before she snipped. I always love the cut when she's finished and I also leave with more knowledge and tips on what to do with my wild, uneven curls and waves. Kelsey really knows her stuff and does a great job. I had my first appointment with Kelsey yesterday. Parking was easy and if you work at Boeing, this location is for you. The space is unique and inviting, very comfortable. I have curly hair and somehow at my age still don't know how to articulate what I like in a cut. Kelsey was patient and helpful in asking questions to really understand what I wanted. I walked out super happy and look forward to going back!

I love coming to get my fro cut here! The dynamic duo are engaging, down to earth and will indulge in any topic of conversation. I kind of want to hang out with them in a more social setting; is this weird? Well, it's true. Love this salon. John does an amazing job with understanding what I'd like with my pixie cut (from other salon experiences, this seems quite hard to do), while also helping me manage a lot of thick hair. Both Kelsey and John are incredibly approachable and immediately set you at ease. And their prices are very reasonable for the consistent high-quality care that I receive. I've been searching for a salon for a while now and am so happy to have found The Head Shed. Will definitely be returning.

I had an awesome "Curly Cut" with Kelsey recently and for the first time, not only was I happy with the cut, but the little shop/salon was really sweet. However, you should note that you don't want to get there too early, it is pretty small so if they are already with clients, the space is a little tight and you don't want to get in the way when someone is trying to checkout. To avoid in awkward/cramped moments, wait in your car and/or show up right on time. Ok - back to the haircut, I was surprised by some of the techniques that she used to cut my fine, curly hair but it resulted in a haircut that I have wanted for YEARS and have never been able to achieve. I have explained they style and shape when working with multiple stylists over the years, but they could never get it quite right. I didn't even explain the cut to Kelsey because I had given up on every getting it or having it work for my hair and her magic little hands just made it happen. I didn't realize how great the cut was until the next day, when I washed and styled it at home (people with curly hair understand, you never know how/if a cut will really work until you do your own curl routine at home), but I have fallen in love with it. So low maintenance and easy to care for... I LOVE IT!!! :D On top of the great cut, her and her husband were really easy to talk to and laugh with, great sense of humor and love of food! I will be back for sure!

I have gotten a few great haircuts from John, and Kelsey just added an awesome color job on top! Both are very attentive and willing to listen to your ideas while also providing their own insights. Their prices are also super reasonable for the area and the work that they do.

Booking was super quick and easy--I got in within a day or two, rather than a week or two like many places. Kelsey looked at the picture I brought, talked through how we could make it work best for me and did a great job. Easy, no-fuss hairstyles are a must for me and she gave me just that--and at a super reasonable price.

I got a curly cut and an ombré from Kelsey and they were both AMAZING! The atmosphere was comfortable and both John and Kelsey were very easygoing. I had a lot of questions and changed my mind frequently during the appointment but Kelsey was patient and made sure I got exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a specific red/auburn color for my ombré and they found the perfect combination of colors to complement my black hair! I've never had such a great experience at a hair salon and I'll definitely be coming back soon!

Really, really happy with my first haircut with Kelsey. I'm growing out a pixie and have no idea what do do with it during this "awkward" grow-out stage. Kelsey gave me a super cute cut that actually made me like the length when I usually don't. I highly recommend this gem of a salon!

Being a local small business with a perfect 5 star rating, I decided to call up the Headshed. John scheduled me an appointment for the following evening, and when I arrived for said appointment John did not disappoint. He was personable, highly attentive to detail, and provided me with exactly what I was looking for an extremely reasonable price. Definitely where I'll be heading for trims going forward.

Hubby just came from head shed looking super sexy! They did an amazing job on his beard, I am so impressed. He loved the stylist and he can make appointment. Other places he has been has up to a 2 hour wait on the weekend or after work. No thanks. Head shed from now on!

This salon has no contender in all of Seattle. I am the walk-in queen so I know. Zen vibe, best haircut I have had in years for a very fair price plus I was offered a beer. Parking is easy and afterwards you can visit Loretta's for a burger and bourbon!
