Inday Acquires Vegetarian Restaurant Chain By Chloe | Eater NY

"Open since 1873, the historic Hedges Inn was the target of a potential takeover by private club Zero Bond, prompting officials to propose restrictions on eating-and-drinking establishments in historic districts (prohibiting staying open after 11 p.m. or serving after 10 p.m.) to make that takeover impossible." - Luke Fortney

We absolutely loved our stay at The Hedges! Great location close to the town of East Hampton. Our favorite amenities are the house car service into town and the golf cart to the beach. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Really excited for this new addition to The Hamptons!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Hedges Inn, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the incredible staff, especially Kirk, whose warm hospitality made us feel right at home. The inn itself is beautifully kept, showcasing a perfect blend of charm and elegance. Its location in the heart of the Hamptons couldn't be more ideal, providing easy access to all the local attractions while offering a peaceful retreat. Housekeeping did a fantastic job taking care of our rooms, ensuring everything was immaculate and comfortable throughout our stay. The attention to detail was truly impressive. One of the many highlights of our visit was the food. Our meal was a delightful, with fresh, flavorful ingredients and exquisite presentation. The Hedges Inn is truly an amazing little gem in the Hamptons. We can't wait to return and enjoy another stay at this wonderful establishment. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable getaway.

We just finished our weekend long stay and I had to write a review. My partner and I stayed here because of the historical attraction but it is beyond all expectations. Aside from being incredibly preserved it is also beautiful. The bed and breakfast was so peaceful, homey and comfortable. Everything from the cozy rooms, kind and attentive staff, amenities, and focus on guest experience makes this the perfect stay. There are towels and beach supplies available for guests, beach passes, board games, bikes, books and much more. The premises themselves provide for ample opportunity to relax and enjoy life. We cannot recommend this place enough The food: breakfast is complimentary and absolutely fantastic. Every day there are different specials and they never fail to be both delicious and filling. Bar none: After 4pm the patio turns into a restaurant/ bar and much like breakfast the kitchen blows it out of the park. The servers are also fantastic. The seafood tower and their wine tasting is a must have. If you are looking for a non hotel experience that is beyond it and much more comfortable, this is the place. Thank you for our stay.

I stayed for a week last month and had a wonderful stay. The grounds and house are beautiful, location was perfect for me as I love the walk to Main Beach along Ocean Avenue and this is the closest B & B to Main Beach (about a mile walk which I do not mind as its one of the most beautiful walks to a beach in the U.S. ) Jenny and her staff are friendly, attentive and made my stay like a home away from home. I felt like one of the family! The house is well appointed with spacious living rooms, studies for relaxing, working or enjoying a glass of wine after the beach and an honor system bar which I appreciate (they are counting on the trustworthiness of their guests). What hotel would ever allow you to serve yourself at the bar and without some form of payment? The room was plenty for me and the decor was lovely with a beach theme. Entire property is immaculate, spotless clean. Breakfast everyday was exellent and Jenny makes sure there is something for everyone. Yogurt, fresh fruit, wonderful berries, smoked salmon, bagels, pastry and a choice of one of Jenny's delicious entrees. The casserole of eggs caprisse was delicious. Overall, a great stay and sad to leave. Will be back very soon. I love East Hampton and have been coming out for 20+ years. All my best to Jenny and staff and Love to EH!

Great service! The staff is awesome! One person was better than the next. The breakfast was fantastic, and eating out in the courtyard was magical! I met Adam who is in charge of the bar and can’t wait to have dinner at the new restaurant here next week!!!!

My brother & I planned a surprise 50th Anniversary Cocktail party for our parents at The Hedges which occurred this evening - and it completely exceeded our expectations. Not only were our parents surprised, but Jenny & her tema were in constant communication with us from the start of the planning, 4 months ago. Open bar, passed apps and a raw bar to perfection, plus the venue was absolutely perfect for the 45 guests who attended. The indoor and outdoor spaces were beautiful and we were allowed to decorate as we desired. Its was a night that numbers in the the Top Ten for us as a family and we have Jenny and The Hedges Inn to thank for that. We are so grateful for the memories made at the evening that ensued. Forever indebted, and pleased. Bravo Hedges. Bravo!

This was our first hotel stay/ weekend escape from the city since Covid began and it was absolutely wonderful. Jenny was a fabulous host and was super helpful with recommendations in the East Hampton area. The breakfast was still really yummy even with the covid restrictions and everything was super clean/ individualized so there was no concern about sharing germs. We felt that the rooms and common areas were really clean and had no concerns from a health perspective. If the Hedges Inn was this good of an experience during a pandemic, we will definitely be be back!

The Hedges Inn is absolutely lovely. We stayed for a long weekend in September. No crowds, the beach to ourselves and a great experience at the Hedges. Jenny and company do a fabulous job. Everything was spotless and they have anticipated all your needs i.e. beach towels, beach chairs, bikes etc. We had a small kitchenette in our very comfortable room with a private bath. Delicious continental breakfast. The grounds are so well maintained. Overall, a top-notch experience!

Yelp
Wonderful renovation and new (Colony-Palm Beach), management. Lovely indoor/outdoor seating. Our server, Hugh Kennedy was very sweet and efficient. The new Chanel pop up is in a separate cottage on the property.

Yelp
The Hedges Inn is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay when visiting East Hampton. This quaint bed and breakfast has a lot of history surrounded by cobblestone and beautiful greenery. I stayed at the Hedges Inn during the early spring for a bachelorette. We loved the accommodating staff members whom checked in with us frequently. The Inn is a brisk walk away from the relaxing beach. Staff provide you with passes. We had access to bikes for an enjoyable ride along the cobblestone and windmills. The room service was excellent and my bed was extra comfortable. My friends and I loved that breakfast was offered as a part of our stay. We couldn't locate many East Hampton locations which included this. The breakfast here was self-serve and delicious! Hands down I will visit The Hedges Inn next time I'm in the area. Thank you for making my stay super relaxing and memorable!

Yelp
The hedges in is an absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast located in the heart of east Hampton. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful during my stay, especially Kurt, whom seems to always be working and is dedicated to great hospitality. Not only was my stay wonderful, but dinner in the restaurant was also fantastic. The seafood tower was delicious and a great value for the price.

Yelp
My best friend and I had a wonderful work vacation here. We had booked a standard room with a king bed and found out at check-in that with COVID and the inn operating at 50% capacity, we had been upgraded to a bigger room. We'll take it! Jenny and Marcos were kind and accommodating, often asking if we needed anything and even grabbing an extension cord so we could work in the dining room and plug in our laptops. There are a number of nooks and crannies to hunker down in if you need to get work done or take a call. My favorite was the terrace outside with the comfy armchair that leaned backwards and the pantry with the jars of Tootsie-rolls and Swedish fish. They still offered breakfast, which was a nice selection of pastries, fruit, granola, yogurt, cereal, and, on some days, lox and cream cheese or sliced avocado and eggs. Everything was pre-packed and there were little reminders everywhere to only pick something up if you were going to take it. I was touched to see when, the day after seeing me pack up some fruit to go in disposable coffee cups, they put out small containers of fruit. Hamptons is crazy-expensive but it was a nice gesture to leave the breakfast spread out until 11:00 or so in case you wanted to bring a small brunch to the beach. They also have a bar area/snacks with an honor system. Our room was perfect and not as small as I had assumed, with all of the essential toiletries and perfect water pressure. My friend and I couldn't stop exclaiming over the sofa which was incredibly comfortable. The only nit is that the toilet had a pretty weak flush and sometimes the toilet handle would stick, prompting a few frantic attempts. Location-wise, it's about a 15-minute walk to Main Beach (the inn provides free parking passes, towels, beach chairs, and umbrellas), a 15-minute walk in the other direction to the downtown area, and maybe a 25-minute walk to Egypt Beach. If you don't have a car, the location is pretty good assuming you're ok either taking Ubers to other towns or maybe biking. Would recommend others to stay here, this BnB was great!

Yelp
Everything about the hedges inn is perfect! From the phone conversation to book my reservation to my check in was professional, seamless, and more than a delight. Jenny, was the best part With her welcoming personality, showing me the restaurant and bar, and her helping me with my bags upstairs. I can't wait to stay again! This place was such a treat!

Yelp
The Hedges is completely charming and quaint. The staff is very friendly. The common areas and rooms are immaculately clean. The rooms are pretty simple and the room I had was small, but it was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice. The breakfast is really creative and flavorful each day. My only complaint is that it should be served just a little later. I was coming from the West Coast and breakfast from 8-9:30 for me is really 5-6:30am so I was groggy and had to drag myself down there. I get that it's a small business and they can't offer it all day but even an extra hour would be really helpful. Overall, I would stay here again. I felt at home.

Yelp
Jenn and her husband were amazing hosts. Great honor bar, amazing food, nice rooms and amazing showers. The inn has everything from towels to bikes. This is a must stay! Beach is nearby and the grounds are so nice.

Yelp
This is an excellent place to stay. I especially love its location. You will find it convenient to all the restaurants, galleries, shops, etc... and within walking distance of the best beach in the Hamptons. The buffet breakfast has amazing muffins, fresh fruits, great coffee and is located in the lovely dining room on the first floor - previously The James Lane Cafe. Or you can eat outside around the beautiful gardens. FYI: Cable flat screen TV, WiFi, comfortable beds, and that good old fashioned "you are home" feeling as well as a great staff who will tend to you in "lap of luxury" style.

Yelp
I had the absolute best time staying at The Hedges Inn. Jenn and her husband really go out of their way to make their guests feel at home. The inn is quite small and charming - it only has space for 13 guests at a time. The inn has everything you could possibly need for a stay in the Hamptons - beach towels, bikes, and brunch! It is also nicely located in the middle of East Hampton, a short walk from the main shopping area and a short run from beautiful Main Beach. Will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in the Hamptons.

Yelp
I wish I could put zero stars here. I booked time to inquire about hosting my wedding at The Hedges Inn. The event director not only did not show up to the call, but never informed me that he would be late or not able to make it. So I called the hotel, and spoke to the innkeeper Jenny who was unbelievably rude, condescending, and could not be bothered by me. Spoke down to me like I was a complete idiot, like I WAS THE EMPLOYEE THAT DIDN'T SHOW UP to a potential sale. You are in hospitality, learn some manners. How dare I call your inn and ask for a more detailed breakdown. Shame on me for wanting to know more about your services. GLADLY will spend that LARGE chunk of change somewhere else.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of staying at the inn last week and I will say that it was the best breakfast I've had. The 3 course meal of figs, Parmesan eggs and waffles wears phenomenal. I loved the assortment of fruits, granola, muffins and the fresh OJ was amazing. Ann orders coffee from Starbucks but I promise you that it was the freshest coffee I've ever had. Overall, the stay was wonderful and the meal was incredible. Highly recommend the inn for your East Hampton trip. Breakfast is complimentary and will be one of the best meals you've ever had. The kitchen staff is graceful and super helpful. You won't regret your stay.

Yelp
I called The Hedges to make a reservation and spoke to Ann. Ann was very helpful and friendly. Ann spent the time with me to talk about all the rooms she had at the hotel and explained them in great detail. As it turns out I could not make the trip work out for June, however I will defiantly use them again when I am back in town.

Yelp
I definitely recommend for people to stay here it was a great experience one of the best bed-and-breakfast says I've ever said to in my life

Yelp
After booking several rooms for a special occasion, I unfortunately had to cancel one room a few days before arrival when I was hospitalized. I provided a letter from the doctor confirming the reason for hospitalization, however Jenn refused to give any refund as this was within the cancellation period. I understand as a small hotel there are policies in place to protect their best interest, however the cold rigidity I received at such a personally difficult time was heartless. Look into other options before choosing to book here.

Yelp
We had an amazing weekend at the Hedges Inn. We initially were staying at a motel in Southampton that was expensive but was a complete dump so changed our reservation to the Hedges and we lucked out as they had one room left and they offered us a great deal (or thats relative a great deal for the very expensive Hamptons). The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the room was clean and very comfortable with a small kitchen. The property itself is so pretty with a beautiful lawn and porches. Also the Breakfast was just amazing. Fresh muffins and great egg dishes each morning along with wonderful coffee and juices. We loved our stay at the Hedges.

Yelp
I just spent the weekend at the Hedges Inn and had a wonderful time. Carol was so friendly and helpful, she made us feel right at home. The Inn was very clean and well appointed, including Bulgari bath products and Godiva chocolates -both nice little touches. Breakfast included a cold buffet and full hot service menu, which I have to say was excellent. The only reason I deducted a star was the room we had was in the back and found it to be quite noisy (there was a constant noise - similar to a hum - possibly from a heating/cooling unit). However, given our short visit and nice common areas, we enjoyed our stay!

Yelp
Loved it. Visiting the Hamptons from time to time I stay at many different places. By far this was my favorite. It's cozy, comfortable, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I liked my room and it looked remodeled and taken very care of. I also enjoyed the evening sweets set beside my bed and the morning breakfast was well presented and tasty. The common areas were quiet and a great place to crack a book. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
They arbitrarily cancelled my reservation! They said someone had called and cancelled my reservation (I did not) and they never sent me a confirmation of this "so called" cancellation. I would not stay here, because they could always decide to cancel yours as well! Very scary.
