The 5 Best Things To Eat In Helen, Georgia During Oktoberfest

"German Potato Salad With its original owners hailing from Heidelberg, Germany, this three-story restaurant has been a Helen staple since the late ’70s. In addition to a stage for live performances inside, they’ve got one of the best patios in town, overlooking an always lively, central courtyard. When you want to lean into the Helen vibes with a true German meal, there’s enough schnitzel, spaetzle, and sausage options to make you feel like you should say danke to your server. But what makes this place a must is the kartoffelsalat—the best German potato salad in town. Tender chunks of potato, onion, and pork mix together for a delicious, tangy dish. And while we were hesitant about a warm potato salad (we could feel legions of Southern grannies scoff as we took our first bite), it mixes just right with a cold beer. Excellent food and wonderful atmosphere, true German experience, and cuisine. There is seating inside and outside. Many choices of delicious entrees to choose from. They have 2 musicians playing and singing while walking around to bring in some wonderful German music. Very good beer and adult beverages are available and pair excellent with your meal. Wonderful experience and very worth the visit! Very friendly staff and great service!

Talk about a German restaurant,no need to look further, this is it!!! This was our 2nd time to Helen, GA on a whim (we live 45 min away) and it was a late lunch. The food and service was amazing. I don't eat a lot of that German food bc of sourkrout amongst other things definitely not my thing but I like going to these different style restaurants for my husband, anyway. He ordered some spatzle pork with gravy look interesting, he said it was good. We started off with the fried mushrooms & it came with sour cream & horseradish mix (never in my life would have put that together) but it was really good. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with the German potato salad (which I have been dying to find since we left the PNW). Really good. Decided to order the apple strudel (the menu says flown in from Germany so why try it) The BEST DAMN STRUDEL EVER)!!!! It was so good and it so worth the drive for it again. See the pictures. I can't wait to go back. Definitely a must. The service was great too always a plus. Lots of German decor and music was playing. And I love you go down the alley way to get there. Fun experience and really good food.

Google
From the outside it looks like a German restaurant and beer hall. When you step inside that all changes. A pretty sterile atmosphere, nothing says German inside but some dishes and beers on the menu. The different dining areas are box like and outdated. The prices weren't terrible, the food and drinks were good, but not great. The service was good, 4% surcharge if you use a card.

Google
We ate here on a Monday night. The food was very subpar, ordered the knockwursteller, with saurkraut and spatzle. The knockwursteller was simply a hot dog without a bun. The beer cheese for the pretzel was a very tasteless white cheese. The service was fine, our waitress was polite. Aptomosphere was nothing to write home about. Beer selection was minimal. Personally, unless you're coming here just to say you did, I would not recommend it. Definitely a lot of other better places in town.

June 14, 2025. We ate here for lunch and the service was great and so was the food. We have eaten at a couple of different German restaurants, and this one is our favorite hands down. We ordered the Riesenbrezel with beer cheese for an appetizer, the best beer cheese we have ever had. We ordered the wurstsampler, two wiener schnitzel, and a jagerschnitzel. Everything was excellent, but if you want to save room for dessert, we recommend splitting meals. There was more than enough on each plate for two people. I highly recommend eating here.

Google
Overall good food. The atmosphere was average. Not the best looking on the inside. A little dilapidated. We had to wait to eat and we were told to go wait on the stairs. No one came to get us so we checked back and they said they had a table waiting. While it was nice they had a table waiting, it makes you wonder if there was some delay in communication. If you have people wait some distance away, why wouldn't you have beepers? Anyway, the final irritating twist was the 4% price increase with a credit card. Since 95% of people don't you cash, the default should be pricing with a credit card considered. You can offer a discount if someone pays with cash. This is just a cash grab for an extra 4%. This likely just reduces the tip to your servers. Not very nice restaurant owners if you ask me.

Google
I was really looking forward to eating at the Heidelberg at first glance. We did not wait too long to be seated at our table and atmosphere seemed decent, but seemed plain in comparison to the outside structure of the building. The waitress seemed nice, but was jumping from table to table without giving too much time to the guests. When asking for recommendations for food or for description of the platters, the waitress had no idea what the foods were and was not able to recommend any food. Being a pretty big fan of Rubens, I was excited to try out the Heidelberg’s version of this German delicacy. I was pleased with the display, but disappointed with the outcome of the dish. Many of the fries served with the Reuben were undercooked. The Rubens meat tasted off and even a bit spoiled. The entirety of the sandwich was not executed to the standards I had hoped and I was pretty disappointed.

We stop in this restaurant every time we visit Helen, if they are open. We absolutely love the food, and the location in town is perfect. They are open seasonally, and we tend to visit off-season, so they aren't always open for us. But we love it when they are!

Yelp
I have been to quite a few German restaurants, not only because I enjoy German food, but because my partner is of German heritage. So, after trying German food in several states, I would say that The Heidelberg is the most authentic, tasty, and affordable of many places I have visited. I first started this review with a 4 star rating but I am upping it to a 5 because... 1) they make their own spaetzle, 2) they make their own pretzels, 3) they serve goulash, and 4) everything is just like it is in Germany (if you have been there). This place is one of the few authentic old school places that will not disappoint you. With this said, I must also disclose that this restaurant would be a 3 1/2 in the Fatherland, but here in the American continent, and with all the fake German franchises, this is a true example to follow. I truly enjoyed my meal, the staff was very friendly and shared a lot of information with us, and yes, the music was a bit too much, but it is a touristy place so... it is what it is.

Yelp
Really enjoyed a delicious dinner here! They had a great selection of schnitzels and some other German dishes, as well as some German beers. Large portion sizes too! Our waitress was friendly and checked on us frequently as well. I loved the decor, and would absolutely come here again the next time I visit.

Yelp
After a bit of a wait in the staircase, we were seated, and our host served up water and took drink orders. I enquired about the Bock on draft but they were out and had replaced it and I was offered a sample. Our order was taken and the sample arrived. The half-liter was delivered very promptly and at a "German beer" temperature. It was very good. Our lunch was served by the kitchen staff and was great. The sausage was perfectly grilled and tasty, and I ate a bit too much but survived. The dining rooms are in a converted house and nicely decorated with interesting items. The queueing on the staircase caused a bit of confusion and could be an issue if you have trouble standing. I do think they have a wheelchair-accessible route but it's not obvious.

Yelp
Food and service were good. Nice variety of German dishes including multiple varieties of schnitzel. I had the Salzburger which was stuffed with bacon and mushrooms, and did potato salad and sauerkraut for my sides. Everything was great and filling.
google avatar

Dori R.

Yelp
Courtney was our server and was fantastic! I had the Wienerschnitzel, which was perfectly cooked and tender. I'm very picky about my schnitzel. We sat on the upstairs terrace, which was fun for people watching. We talked off the evening with their delicious triple chocolate cake! I would highly recommend the Heidelberg.

Yelp
It has been a while' since we've been here but the food and service was good overall. We enjoyed sitting on the outside patio listening to the live music down below.

Yelp
We were in Helen on a very cold and windy day in January. We were looking for some place warm to sit down and enjoy a hot meal for dinner. The Heidelberg did not disappoint! The goulash was served hot and was delicious. The kids enjoyed their chicken fingers and fries. The fried schnitzel sandwich was perfect, crispy and not greasy, even the fries were good. We had excellent service and our waitress was kind and friendly. The kids loved the German styled decorations and the third floor was family friendly.

Yelp
Out of possible options in the central part of the tourist areas this is not a bad option for German food. However, a couple things to keep in mind and consider- food is a bit pricier than some in the area and portions & quality don't match the price; there is an additional charge for using cards, when in this day and time almost everyone (tourists especially) only uses cards. ( it was like $6, extra on top of your bill) - the music was very loud and some songs sounded as if they were on repeat ( we felt so sorry for the staff) we got to leave, but they are there all day. Super sad, honestly the whole experience was just ok. With as many tourists as this town gets I was really hoping this would be awesome, but it's just not. I still believe in supporting small businesses, so if you're in the area check them out for yourself.

Yelp
Overall, it was a pretty bland meal. The fried pork for both our entrees were really good, maybe needs a little more seasoning. The mashed potatoes are also good. We didn't like the German potato salad since it tasted so much like vinegar and sour. The egg noodles (Spätzle) are VERY bland, which was expected. The pretzel was very good, soft, and warm, but could've had more salt. The beer cheese is a must with the pretzel. We were seated quickly since it wasn't really busy. The server was very nice and attentive. She gave us great service. The restaurant was cold from various fans being turned on. There was also lots of German "electronic/techno" cover songs. It felt like a party but didn't feel like it lol. Most of all, it was very over priced. It ended up being $75 for 2 people after tipping, NOT including any drinks. Wouldn't go again. Top: Schnitzel "Wiener Art", mashed potatoes, and German potato salad (Kartoffelsalat) Left: giant pretzel (Riesenbrezel) with melted butter and beer cheese Bottom: World Famous Cordon Bleu, buttered egg noodles (Spätzle), and mashed potatoes

Yelp
This was my first visit to both Heidelberg and Helen for a long while. Although I didn't see Schweinhaxen menu, my choice of Jägerschnitzel did not disappoint. So tender and in excellent combination with the sides of sauerkraut and potato salad. Although it was the opening of Octoberfest, the service was friendly and fast. We really enjoyed the ambiance despite the challenges of the stairs. Great end to a great day.
google avatar

Clarice L.

Yelp
The food was fast, fresh, and delicious! The service was really fast and every Ebola was so kind and smiling. The ambiance was really homey. It's more home style than gourmet but it's so very yummy.
google avatar

Olive Anne K.

Yelp
The place is nice, and the music was fun, but after a while it gets repetitive (some sort of techno polka). The wait was not long, only 15 min or so, for being a busy day. We got our food rather quickly and the sever was nice, although she asked if we were ready for the check when we still had more than half our food in our plate. We wanted to try some dessert, but since we felt rushed we just asked her to give us a few more minutes before bringing our check, since we were still eating. We really liked the giant pretzel, it was delicious, soft and fluffy. The rest of the food was ok, tasty and a good amount, but nothing spectacular.

Yelp
Separate exit from the entrance. The entrance has stairs that lead to the second floor, but the exit is a ramp. I wonder if they would have allowed the stroller to come in through the exit side inside the restaurant, so that would be good to find out if you were planning to bring a stroller. The free parking is about 0.12 miles walking distance at the Unicoi Hill Park, when you cut through the park. It's a pretty steep hill from the park's parking lot. Came in early March, and there was no one sitting inside the restaurant. Only one small party was sitting outside on the balcony with covered umbrellas. There is a nice view of the pretty shops from the balcony, but the seating benches were wet from the rain. We enjoyed listening to the upbeat German music during our meal. The volume of the music was fine, not too loud. We shared the Riesenbrezel (pretzel) and Jägerschnitzel and I'm glad I did since they both were enough for two people. Ordered beer cheese dip with the pretzel for a $3 upcharge. The pretzel automatically comes with melted herb butter. The pretzel was good, soft. The coarse salt could've been better evenly distributed though. The cheese dip was okay-I could've done without it and just stuck with the butter. I couldn't taste the beer in the cheese dip and it just didn't really have the greatest flavor. The Jägerschnitzel was okay. Options were grilled or breaded and fried, we did the breaded and fried. Wasn't too impressed with the mushroom cream sauce flavor. I liked the mushroom gravy at Muller's Famous Fried Cheese Cafe better. The entrée comes with your choice of two sides. We opted for the sauerkraut and the potato salad. The sauerkraut was very tangy and had bacon bits in it, was okay. Potato salad was okay. They do warn you with a sign at the entrance about a processing fee if you use credit card. The waiter also told us about it too. Our waiter was very nice throughout our visit. They have high chairs and a baby changing table in the bathroom. There's also a separate bathroom for family, which I did not check out.

Yelp
This is an old school German restaurant and bar, right by the outdoor Biergarten in Helen. They seem fairly knowledgeable about gluten, but don't have as many gluten free options as some places. They also don't have any good wine. The bar downstairs is tiny but cute. It used to be much bigger but they downsized. I got the bratwurst with mashed potatoes, and it was good.
google avatar

Yelp
The good.... The smoke sausage, the smoked pork chop, the salad, the cake. And the fries were quite good. The German potato salad was good too. I wouldn't get the pork or beef non smoked sausage again. The pork reminded me of a summer sausage. The beef one was bland and reminds me of the sausage you give to kids to begin eating sausage. The pork chop, smoked, is spot on. I do not like smoking meat that much, but this was good. It was simply flavorful and hardy. The pork loin, schnitzel, was a little bland. The chocolate cake is good. Rich and good. Honestly, it'd great if taken to go, then put a scoop of ice cream on top. The beer, I like a Guinness at home. The Oktoberfest was very good. The dunkel was a little too bitter to me. I would try the one between that next time or just stick with the Oktoberfest

Yelp
Slipping into town a bit late limited my options, but I knew I wanted German food for dinner, and the Heidelberg was indeed still open. As many others have mentioned, the restaurant section is upstairs, so be prepared to climb a bit. The interior dining area felt well worn, and it was rather loud even with several empty tables, so quiet conversation wasn't easy amongst tablemates. But they had Hofbräu on the menu, a welcome way to help wrap up my day. I ordered a wurst sampler plate to accompany the beer, and the order did not take long to arrive. While each of the sausages had a nice snap, I was a little disappointed in the flavor of the bratwurst and the bauernwurst, as I expected them (especially the latter) to have a more noticeable quantity of spice. The link of knockwurst was the best of the three. I love good Rotkohl (red cabbage) and this wasn't bad, though throughout the big portion it seemed the flavor wasn't consistent throughout. I also had a nice portion of kraut -- but honestly I've had canned kraut from the store that's just as good. Prices here seem comparable with other German style restaurants in the area. There is an extra percentage added to the bill for non-cash payments, and this was posted for all to see when entering. I try not to let these fees factor into my reviews, but I'll admit I'm not a fan of them. Card processing costs should be part of doing business, and those who choose not to carry cash shouldn't be penalized. Would I come back? Sure. It wasn't a bad experience. But I wouldn't call it excellent either.

Rishmithaa S.

Yelp
We had to wait in a long line on a tiny staircase to get in hoping the food was worth the wait. Honestly the food was just awful. It was overpriced and bland and just not enough. Not enough options for people who don't eat pork or beef. The best thing going on for this restaurant is the big boot we were able to get. Made the experience fun
google avatar

Christopher H.

Yelp
Very cute inside and out. Greeted on arrival and quickly seated. Beers and mulled wine were very good. My wife and I split the WurstSampler and it was plenty of food and delicious. My son enjoyed the Sauerbraten. Only negatives were red cabbage was overcooked and the spätzle was rubbery.
google avatar

Larry N.

Yelp
Service was fast and was seated immediately inside without a reservation on a Sunday afternoon during the October Festival. Food delicious. Generous portions. Shared a plate. Discount for cash payment. Comfortable atmosphere. Wait staff dressed in German attire which was pleasant to see.

Laura R.

Yelp
This was the worst place I've ever eaten. We sat for over One Hour with 5 kids for our food to arrive. Horrible service, food just okay. It was NOT worth the wait. What in the world? Stuck at the restaurant for 2 hours wasting our TIME!
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
We were in town visiting Helen and decided to have have dinner. This is a great local food stop. All of our selections were excellent. Our service was on point and attentive. The ambiance is all German as it should be. A must have in Helen
google avatar

Tori E.

Yelp
The service here was good. The girl who was serving us was attentive. I asked ordered the Zigeunerschnitzel. My husband had the Jägerschnitzel. Both were delicious! I loved how rich with flavor the mushroom sauce was on the Jägerschnitzel & I love how flavorful the sauce on the Zigeunerschnitzel was. It was a perfect combo bite with the Zigeunerschnitzel and the sauerkraut together. The spaetzle was okay. The veggies were good and the sauerkraut was good! The ambiance was that of an upstairs pub on a busy street in Germany or Bavaria. It was cool and there was some German music playing loudly in the background. I really wish we would have sat on the blue deck outside because it looked so nice out there, but it was too windy and cold.
google avatar

Carey J.

Yelp
Went back on 4/2/24 and our meals were not very good. Had the sauerbraten, very bland gravy (tasted like plain brown gravy over plain roast beef), the red cabbage also did not have much flavor. A few members in our party said the soda had a funny taste and they couldn't drink it, my guess is they are not cleaning the soda sprayers well. Very disappointed at this last visit.

Yelp
While visiting Helen for the day I really wanted to try an authentic German restaurant. I decided to dine at The Heidelberg for lunch because the menu sounded and looked really good and the atmosphere felt like you were in Germany. Inside, the restaurant was nicely themed and decorated and there was plenty of seating. Our server was friendly, answered any questions we had and gave great recommendations. For appetizers we started with the Riesenbrezel and added the beer cheese dip for an extra $3.00. The pretzel was delicious and soft in the inside. I highly recommend adding the beer cheese dip it is worth the extra charge. We also ordered a single sausage which was one of the best sausages I've had. It had great flavor, the perfect snap to every bite and was very juicy. For entrees we got Schnitzel "Weiner Art", the Reuben House Special and the Bratwurst on a Bun. The Schnitzel came with two sides so we ordered sauerkraut and spatzle. The Schnitzel was cooked perfectly and had a nice thin layer of breading. The sauerkraut was so good, it wasn't too tangy our sour it gave a nice flavor component to the Schnitzel. The spatzle was very bland but once I squeezed lemon over my plate and combined all the ingredients together it became the perfect bite. The Reuben House Special was good. The corned beef was tender and the cheese and Bavarian sauerkraut gave it extra flavor but when we added mustard the sandwich felt complete. They do have a variety of mustard at the table which is a great condiment to add to most of their dishes. The Bratwurst on a Bun and fries were ok. The bread was soft, the Bratwurst was juicy and the variety of mustards came in handy once again to elevate the flavors. We also enjoyed some German beers which were very good and my kids liked their burgers. This is a great option to try authentic German food while in Helen, GA.

Yelp
If you can score the outdoor seating on the balcony I highly recommend it. Only 4 tables so you have to get lucky. Inside looked nice though. Food was very good. Solid pretzel (get the beer cheese!), great goulash and sausage was excellent . Potato pancakes were just okay. Cocktails were great and staff was friendly and professional. Prices were very reasonable.
google avatar

Darryl B.

Yelp
Great place to eat with a German flair. The staff are all friendly. Our server Taylor was very personal and professional.

Yelp
Among the numerous options for German food in Helen, this is a decent choice. When we visited (Jun '23), downstairs portion is only for bar/drinking and food is upstairs. Atmosphere is definitely what you'd expect for a small Germany town - wooden floors and decor. We came hungry and started with the HB original beer! Taste of German beer is definitely amazing and unique (and reminded of my Germany visits). We debated on ordering the pretzel or the potato pancakes for starters, the latter won. We figured we can get a pretzel on the street if we want but potato pancakes are harder to come by. That was the right choice! Flavor is authentic, and when you add apple sauce and sour cream, yum! We then shared the wurst sampler and a schnitzel sandwich. Both are made fresh and tasty. I also tried sauerkraut and red cabbage as sides, and it was a bit too much. I'd pick just one and save the other choice to try a different sides. Overall, good option to consider. Keep in mind that most of the shops in Helen offer a cash discount or you will pay a 4% up charge for credit cards.
google avatar

Bob S.

Yelp
Service was excellent. The food was mediocre. We had sauerbraten, schnitzel, red cabbage, potato salad and a pretzel. The pretzel was the best of the bunch. I've eaten my fair share of German food and this was just ok. In a town like Helen with all of the competition I was hoping it would be better.

Michael K.

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here while we were in town. Our waitress, Taylor, was phenomenal! We ordered the world famous Cordon Bleu Pork Schnitzel with a side of spatzles and a side of German potato salad. We also ordered a side of the Mushroom Cream Sauce to put on top of the schnitzel. When I say this was phenomenal, I am not joking. It was delicious! It was so delicious that we went back two nights later to have it again. The first visit we sat inside and the interior could use some work. The second visit we set out on their patio, which is very small with only four tables, but it was a lovely evening so we wanted to sit outside. If you have the pleasure of having a meal there ask for Taylor!

Katelyn N.

Yelp
First impression: it is a VERY cute little restaurant from the outside. The actual restaurant is up on the second floor and the entrance door is not the same as the exit door, so leaving was a tad confusing. We came here on a Saturday afternoon, and we were able to get seated right away. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive. The food: we only tried one appetizer here because had the intention of hopping around to the different restaurants in the area and trying a bit of everything. We ordered the krautkrapfen, which is a flakey pastry dough wrapped around sauerkraut and bacon, then served with a Guinness-type of gravy. I had definitely not had anything like this before and it was actually really good! It was tangy and salty, the gravy was so good i could have eaten in on top of almost anything. It was a cool thing to try but I don't see myself necessarily craving it. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the mood to try something different!
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this restaurant. The schnitzel was delicious. My husband had more of a combo platter that came with a mushroom sauce and sausage. Had to take half the food home just so I could try the apple strudel for dessert. I wish I lived closer so I could come here more often, the service was also fantastic. Very attentive and super friendly people.

Falin G.

Yelp
We tried this restaurant when looking for an authentic German place to try. The pretzel was pretty good, as well as the schnitzel. As a German person myself, I will say the schnitzel lacked a bit of seasoning, but was overall not bad. Our waiter was friendly and did his best to keep us laughing.

Michael G.

Yelp
The food in Helen isn't all that great overall, but the Heidelberg is one of 2 exceptions. Everything we had was good, if you like German style food. Chicken Schnitzel was very good. The goulash had good flavor, but was not as hot as I had hoped on a cold day. I'd go back again when there. Suggestion: Bring cash. They charge a fee for using a card, but at least they share that information with you rather than just do it. Overall friendly experience with good food.
google avatar

Jon H.

Yelp
The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was outstanding. I'm not sure what else to say. The server was very helpful and friendly. The location is easy walking distance from downtown and there was definitely a German feel to it.
google avatar

Yelp
Jennifer was excellent server. I had the zigeunerschnitzel platter. My wife had sauerbraten platter. All were excellent and good size portions.

Yelp
So great! Ambiance, staff, and OMO the food!! Definitely recommend the wurst sampler platter! Thanks for a great experience Carolyn!!

Yelp
We had seat for 4 in less than 15 minutes. The food was great! Best Pretzel in town. The service was amazing especially with how busy they were on New Years Day. Best service and food we have had in Helen so far.

Jason W.

Yelp
We had tremendous fun celebrating Oktoberfest here. The band was fantastic to stir up the atmosphere, the food was authentic, the beer was good, the strudel was delicious!

Yelp
This quaint restaurant is located in the heart of Helen, GA. Coming here, you feel like you've been transported to Bavaria. The ambiance is rustic and quaint, which really contributes to the overall character of the restaurant. While service can be a tad bit slow, the waitresses were all friendly. The food was quite good. I really enjoyed having the bratwurst with sauerkraut. The sauerkraut really cut through the rich meaty flavor of the sausage. The restaurant was also very generous with their side of fries. Finally, what's the perfect drink with a bratwurst? Gotta get a beer! The grapefruit beer is an excellent pairing, bringing that bright citrus flavor as a complement to the food. Overall, a place that one should visit when they are in town :)

Yelp
When we were in Helen to celebrate our anniversary, we ate at quite a few German restaurants. The best entrée I had was at Heidelberg. Great selection of German Beers! I got the Holsteiner Schnitzel with spätzle and sauerkraut. It was AMAZING! I love capers and the capers with fried egg just set this meal apart from the rest. We also got a Riesenbrezel (German Pretzel). 2nd best pretzel of the week. Huge and tasty. We actually stopped in here earlier in the week but just for a beer. We sat outside on the 2nd story balcony. Unfortunately, it was not available when we cam back for dinner. Coincidentally, we got the same server both times. Wish I remembered her name. She was excellent! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a cool spot that you need to climb stairs for to get to the dining room while they also have a ground floor bar. The upstairs dining area also has access to a nice balcony where you can also sit and enjoy a meal or adult beverages. Of all the places I ate at in Helen, GA they had the nicest selection of mustards and I do love mustard so that really made me extra happy with this location. I had the sauerbraten with red cabbage and sauerkraut except the sauerkraut had chopped up ham or some sort of other stuff in it and I really like my sauerkraut left on its own. I also had an eine maß of beer that I enjoyed which was quite refreshing. Overall I enjoyed the red cabbage and sauerbraten while my experience with the ambiance and service was also nice. Yelp
Food was meh. Didn't love it. One of my sides tasted old like it was maybe under a warm lightbulb. Men's room upstairs had no soap and dispenser broken, so wasn't a thing that was happening for 5 minutes. Server was friendly, but not overly attentive. Chalk it up to a not so great Place that survives because it's in a town that's primarily full of tourists.

Yelp
The food was great. The Restaurant legit made me feel like I was in Germany. I had an assortment of things. It all came out at the same time, which was perfect since we were starving from drinking and walking. The smoked salmon was fresh! It came with lettuce, purple onion, some of their sliced bread, tomatoes, and a cream cheese spread along with cucumbers and capers. It's a light appetizer. Good to share with 2 people. We also had the Gulaschsuppe which was fire. It's pretty much a bowl of stew. Good tasty tomatoe-y broth. The beef chunks were on point, super tender. They had these little tiny dumplings too which were soft, like eating a bunch of tiny pillow dough puffs. Highly recommend it. Next, we had Bauernwurst on a bun. The pork sausage had the right amount of Smokey salty flavor. It was accompanied by a nice handful of sauerkraut. And fries. Really filling. Then lastly, we had Red Cabbage, which is similar to a vinegar type cole slaw. Good to have as side, super light. Sprinkled it on half the things we ate. Overall it's a good restaurant, it's great for the Oktoberfest experience. The prices are good too, pretty affordable.

Yelp
Service: Excellent Food: Horrible and over priced. The jaeger schnitzel was bland and flavorless. The potato pancakes where flavorless and greasy. Please please please don't let this place be what you think German food should be.

Yelp
Sweet Tea was bad which is already a bad start. Jägerschnitzel was okay at most. Rueben was also just okay. Service was good, ambiance good as well. Just very underwhelming food.

Yelp
The food wasn't bad. The beef for a little tough for what I'm use to but not bad. For the ambiance, hard to tell we have bad luck of getting stuck in the corner. Here is the issue I had while I was laughing at the time, really killed the restaurant for me: two servers sitting less than 5ft away from us, talking and folding silverware in napkins. What was their topic of conversation- 1. The woman was complaining how they don't work around her rehab that she just got out of (granted this could be physical but when I got out of rehab not the first thing comes to mind and not what I need to know about servicing staff). 2. The male talking about how he trims his armpits - oh wait it gets better - he said that he is unsure if he should tell his girlfriend that she need to do the same. This cause the female to spark off on her body her choice (fine I agree). Then him debuting that he's the man and he's in charge and she should do what he says. She then raised her voice and calls him sexist and a hypocrite and he wouldn't do the same to change for her. All fine but not conversations you should behaving ear shot of customers, but the plain fact is we were right on the other side of the walkway and less than 5ft away. We were laughing cause they were having it out right in front of us, but I mean us being customers not a heated debate I need to know him trimming or the other topics.

Yelp
Food is good but on the heavier side can definitely share a plate. Pretzel with cheese is must. Service is great and quick. Apple cider was sweet.
