Best sandwich place in the neighborhood. Better than the one down the street called Bubs with the long lines. All the sandwich are good, I ordered pastrami.

Sasha Cheechov

Google
The Heights is a great local spot for delicious food at a great price. The sandwiches are so so good and a great deal for the size. My favorite I’ve tried is the Pasadena Ave. Their pasta is also surprisingly yummy for a gas station parking lot establishment, and portions are super generous. They also have a great selections of drinks, alcoholic and na, and staff is always super kind and accommodating. If you order online for pickup, there is a $40 cap on the order, which is a little bit of an annoying quirk. But that’s a very minor critique for what is otherwise an all-around great spot!

Google
Okay. Only leaving a review here on the off chance that the folks at The Heights will read it. I've had two Pastrami sandwiches from them and a friend has tried a couple options as well. The flavor, value, and size of these sandwiches is A+... however.... the bread is burnt? Falling apart? Crumbling everywhere? By the time you are halfway through everything kind of falls out everywhere. I thought it was a fluke the first time I had it but I have a decent enough sample size now to just be confused. If they ever choose to upgrade the bread situation this would be easily one of the best sandwiches in LA. I'll definitely return cause like I said, flavors are great and value is awesome, but I feel like this would be an everyday choice for me if it weren't so structurally compromised. Maybe I'm ignorant or something I have no idea, but it's almost so incredible that I want them to get it all sorted out.

Google
I love this place. The sandwiches are amazing. The bread they use is amazing. I did on purpose ate at the Heights and the next ate at east side Deli and I have to say I like The Heights better. Both places are amazing but I'll give it to the Heights on this one.

Google
Great Philly cheese steak with a good flavor and hot! It's a to go deli, but there was a bench outside that we sat and ate on because we walked a good bit to get there. All in all it was a deli and worth the trip for lunch.

Google
The cashier that attended us was very rude to me and my wife. Apparently he forgot to give us our food. And it was sitting for a while, and it was cold. We asked for it to get remade. He said it would take an hour we ended up keeping the food. Will not return

Google
This place is the spot! I’ve tried most of their menu now but now I keep coming back for the heights sandwich and the mozzarella sticks. The marinara is fire. I even dip my sandwich in it when I’m done with the sticks. My girlfriend ordered the antipasto salad this time and she ate it over the course of 3 days that’s how big it was for her. I even had a couple of bites. I’m also a fan of the garlic shrimp pasta. I don’t think there is anything I have disliked from here. Friendly staff. I usually call ahead. The only thing that is a con which is out of their control is the parking lot. It can get busy because of the gas station and the liquor store.

Google
Everything I've gotten here has been delicious, and I've ordered about half the menu at this point. The bread is always fresh, with the perfect amount of crunch on the outside and softness on the inside. Great quality meats and cheeses, and everything from the meat, toppings, and condiments is perfectly proportioned and balanced. They have a GREAT variety of drinks to choose from too, at great prices. I've seen drinks on sale there that were at nearly twice the price elsewhere. I find something new to try every time I go.

Yelp
Hands down, one of my favorite deli shops in LA! This place is very non-assuming/modest and it's essentially located right next to a liquor shop and Chevron. But! Don't let that deter you or have you thinking it's anything but mediocre. I've been there many times over the years and my all time favorite is the Pasadena Ave; oven roasted chicken, oven gold turkey, cheddar cheese, and topping with mayo, mustard, and house sauce. It's a cold sandwich and should be eaten immediately! Actually, it's also good for later too, since the portion is sizable, sometimes I only finish half and save the other for later. Ave 26 is another good option- maple glazed honey turkey with Swiss. They have hot sandwiches also but I have yet to try them since I tend to order the Pasadena. FYI, they serve Boar Head's deli, you know, the good stuff. Sandwiches range from about $12-$14 which is a great price for LA! Highly recommend this place. You can even order online for a quick pick up.

Yelp
These are the sandwiches that make picnics truly memorable. They are always made consistently and deliver on taste and quality, making them a go-to choice for outdoor gatherings. They also had the extras: chips, and drinks with parking.

Yelp
Great food. friendly staff. fast and delicious. We ordered 3 pastas a sandwich and a pizza, all of it was excellent. We will definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
Got the ave26 with bacon Dope little neighborhood spot with fire food and drink options. Great value too. Def coming back!

Yelp
Wanted to spoil myself since my company decided to pay for lunch today! Huge serving! I ordered the Heights sandwich and Truffle fries! Delicious!!! Highly recommended!!!! 10 outta 10! Of course we'll be back!
google avatar

Scott J.

Yelp
WOW! This small spot is serving up some of the best sandos in Los Angeles. Offering a large selection, amazing customer service, and an array of chips, beverages, and wine/beer. I got the Ave 26 Sandwich, 5 stars all the way! The bread was soft with a crispness to it, the proportions were perfect, the turkey and cheese were quite fresh, and they let you make modifications (huge plus - no onions for me, brown mustard over honey mustard) The guy at the counter was really friendly, sandwich was up in 5 minutes, parking was easy, and the Sando was less than $15. Can't wait to head back and try the other goods here!

Yelp
I had a craving for some good Italian subs and pasta. The Heights Deli surpassed my expectations. I ordered 6 sandwiches, sausage and peppers pasta, and the largest garlic knots I've ever had. The sandwiches are hearty and full of fresh ingredients. I forgot to ask what bread they use or if they bake it. Best has the best crisp and airiness. You have to get the side of marinara sauce for your garlic knots. The amount of garlic flavor the bread is brushed or dunked in is amazing! I love garlic and I definitely would drive out just to grab them. The pasta had the right amount of spice with sweet onions and sausage was packed with flavor. I'm so thankful this place exists. I grew up going to Claros in SGV but this spot is something special. 1000% made with deliciousness.
google avatar

Gabe L.

Yelp
Truffle fries well done: super crispy and thin fries were excellent Mortadella sandwich: my wife's favorite cold cut sandwich. I thought the bread was okay Tuna mayo: good crunch from the red onions and lettuce, can taste the mayo in a good way Meatball sausage combo: bread was crunchy but soft enough and it a good amount of mozzarella. I enjoyed the meatballs more and probably would get just the meatball sub instead

Yelp
This place is so unsuspecting from the outside, but it's such a treasure! Im always left satisfied after eating The pastas here are insanely good - I've gotten the carbonara a couple times and my new favorite is the penne jambalaya. The flavors are so good and comforting, and the portion is generous. I've also tried their house sangria and it's yummy. Just a heads up if you get pasta it'll prob be around 15-20 min wait at least for food :) and the pasta comes with a garlic knot (they're big!). The staff is so friendly and patient. The lot gets pretty tight because it's in the same plot as a gas station+liquor store, but somehow there's always parking when I've gone! There are a couple benches outside but no formal seating, so prepare to either takeaway or eat on the bench/in your car

Yelp
Tucked away in a small strip mall and gas station is this precious little gem. They sell sandwiches, pasta, chips, booze, and sodas. Pretty awesome one stop shop for take out. There is a tiny bench outside where you can sit and enjoy your goods if you're too hungry to wait, which I was. The sandwich was warm and the bread was nice and crusty. It was chewy and had some crisp parts after being heated in the oven. Overall decent sandwich.

Jacoub B.

Yelp
Ok- the sandwiches really are great. I got the AVE 26. And it has a sweet and vinegary taste with a slight creamy mayo flavor. It's great and the bread is soft and easy to bite into. Great Sammy Also got the cookies and cream cookie which was too sweet for my liking.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Sandwich was 9/10 I wish there was a seating area to enjoy some of the very cool wine they have available as well.
google avatar

Lance C.

Yelp
I got two words. Garlic knots. This place is top notch. Everything is good. This place has become my kitchen away from home.
google avatar

Courtney O.

Yelp
Wow! There's nothing like a good deli sandwich. This one was perfectly loaded and filled with delicious saucy goodness. Ordered through DoorDash and arrived perfectly with no issue. The Ave was a hit and so so good. DEF recommend.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
Great beer and wine selection, but the real stars are the sandwiches. I ordered The Heights, my partner got the Lincoln Heights. Both sandwiches were huge, lots of deli meat and cheese. We both ended up only eating half and keeping the rest for the next day. Highly recommend getting an order of garlic knots - they're hands down the *best* garlic knots I've ever had (and I'm a bit of a garlic knot connoisseur). Crispy outside, super fluffy inside, and just completely garlicky throughout. A+ The ONLY thing I'll ask for next time is oil and vinegar on my sandwich (extra oil and vinegar?) I missed the tangy bite that reminds me so much of the Wawa hoagies of my youth (Philly pride)

Yelp
Very good sandwich shop. Friendly, prompt, tasty Boar's Head cold cuts. Bread & ingredients were fresh. Clean, quaint place, humble and functional. Well priced with good variety. This is solidly average place.
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
I was searching for a nearby deli while in this area. Found the website and started reading the menu. Immediately my mouth was watering as I read the sandwich options. The place did not disappoint. I had a turkey sandwich (The Broadway) with everything. The bread was fresh and crusty. The turkey was fresh and thin sliced. Proportional amounts of toppings were added and a tasty house sauce made it delicious. Service was fast and friendly. I was not able to get a beer but the selection was impressive. Next time.
google avatar

Alie D.

Yelp
Definitely not a place you can sit and eat. More of a liquor store next to a gas station but the Italian sub is one of the best I have had in while. A little pricey for a sandwich but they are friendly on the phone and get your order ready quickly.

Veronica H.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and wide variety of beers and wines. Great little neighborhood spot.
google avatar

Luana J.

Yelp
Good service. Cool little spot with a big selection of different wines, beer, sodas & seltzers. The sandwich I had was soo good, the Sichel. The jambalaya pasta was amazing, however it didn't taste like a jambalaya to me, and their truffle fries were good. Definitely coming back!

Evelyn H.

Yelp
So good. Sandwiches and pastas were Delicious. Great staff. She answered my questions and we ordered way too much

Rain T.

Yelp
SO YUMMY! Great sandwiches, nice selection of stouts, cool shop, nice staff. Obviously they've been successful because they opened this store after doing well in Lincoln Heights.

Cecilia M.

Yelp
The sandwich was delicious Ave 26 Everything I order here is always so good!!! I'm glad they opened one closer to where I live
google avatar

Rocio C.

Yelp
I had the Philly cheese steak sandwich, it was so yummy. The bell peppers had a little kick so it was just perfection. I like that they put more than enough vegetables, the meat was not too thin so you can taste it. The portions are pretty generous, I ordered to bring home, didn't get to see the restaurant. Next time, I'll get the turkey sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
Set outside of a gas station and liquor store, the Glassell park is one of (2) locations, the other being in Lincoln Heights. The selection of craft and rare items is delightful, so come here for a switch up from the usual. LA doesn't boast many incredible deli options, so this one makes you feel transported. GLUTEN FREE PASTA: +2 dollars and the pasta options are incredible and diverse. No gluten free sandwich bread unfortunately, but that's okay get the pasta. ORDER AHEAD the gluten free pasta takes longer. BEST ITEMS: lobster ravioli (pasta comes w extra garlic bread), jambalaya pasta, pink sauce pasta, truffle fries RARE FIND: The Mela watermelon water is SO good. Don't come in trying to loiter and enjoy the AC, they WILL tell u to wait outside lmfaooo. Parking: between 2 busy streets. Order ahead and loiter in the gas station or get lucky and snag a spot Price: $$ Gluten free: 8/10 (pasta only, no sandwich) Dairy free/ 4/10 Vegetarian: 10/10

Yelp
Incredible and consistent sandwiches. We got The Heights, Griffin and their truffle fries and all twice in one week! Everything in the sandwich was very well balanced including the bread. It brought me back to enjoying subs back in the 90's from Canada. My favorite sandwich spot in LA has got to be Waxpaper and I definitely burned them out but if you're looking for an overall great sub style sandwich, I would recommend The Heights. We ordered extra lettuce for both sandwiches the second time and it definitely elevated the texture. Their Truffle fries were ok. The first time we ordered, our sandwiches were soggy but the second time was absolutely perfect! We are new fans and will recommend to those simply looking for a good ole classic sub.

Scott R.

Yelp
Damn. I just tried to finish a chicken parm with spaghetti. It was a very large portion and delicious. Love the sandwiches here and typically my order is ready within 15 minutes. Great place!
google avatar

Maddy T.

Yelp
As good as the original location! I love this little place because it has a good menu and you're bound to find something you like. They are most known for their sandwiches, not only do they use super fresh ingredients but the portion size is massive (at least to me). I got the Johnston street on phone order for pickup to see if it was as good as the original location and it was perfect. The workers there are equally as friendly which is something super nice and they will definitely help you out with any questions you may have. In the Johnston street there is chicken cutlet which my Japanese heart dies for and even though it make take a little longer than cold cuts to prepare, the sandwich was out in just a few mins.
google avatar

Karla M.

Yelp
The place is tucked in a gas station parking lot. If you are not familiar with the area you will miss it. I wanted to try this place for a while since I LOVE sandwiches. And let me tell you it did not disappoint. I ordered the heights sandwich and it was so delicious and perfect size to share. I never add mustard to my sandwich's but this one was so good. It had so much flavor, since they added a house sauce. My husband had the mission rd sandwich which was Buffalo chicken and he loved it. It was a bit spicy but, that was perfect for him. We tried some chips that were also a good add to the sandwiches. The place is really small but they are quick with the food. It does get busy goes to show how good they are. I will definitely be coming back to try more.
google avatar

Elias B.

Yelp
delicious subs, very nice people and overall a really cool place for a quick picnic or lunch
google avatar

Mia A.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for a solid deli sub and this hit the spot! I'll definitely be back. I thought it was just going to be a hole-in-the-wall liquor store, but it was super cute. They have a pretty big beer and wine (with little description cards) selection, some beer on tap, alcoholic smoothies, and a patio with seating. Plus the thing we're all going there for: sandwiches. I got the Heights sandwich and it was so yummy. Heavy meat, tasty sauce (but not too much), and lettuce. Plus it's a good, filling sandwich for under $15. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Max S.

Yelp
Awesome sandwiches. I'm working my way down the menu. So far no disappointments. It's 100% takeout though. Unless you want to eat in a gas station parking lot. Which I've done ... but inside my car to avoid smells. Again, excellent sandwiches and a crazy selection of obscure beers and wine ... for take out.
google avatar

Leo Y.

Yelp
Located in the plaza of a gas station, this small deli has a great selection of sandwiches and drinks. Very quick and well priced. Easy parking in the plaza. They are the last shop on the right. Perfect for lunch or if you're on the go. I would recommend to anyone in the area. I would like to try their cold cut sandwiches next time. Comments: the size was a little smaller than I thought. The meatball were big so it wasn't as soft. The cheese was a great touch and complimented the sandwich well. Order: meatball sub

Aly J.

Yelp
The garlic knots are sooooo good. Get a side of marinara. Also recommend the meatball sub
google avatar

Katharine T.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches and AAAAHHHMAZINGGG hot wings. We got some garlic knots and from eating those I have no doubt their pizza will be amazing as well. We order from here through the delivery apps and hope to visit one of their two locations some day soon. I'll update my review then. Cheers!
google avatar

Chantile E.

Yelp
Drove all the way out here specially for the superiorly- reviewed deli sub sandwiches! They were worth it!
google avatar

Dana O.

Yelp
What's not to like? Big sandwiches on fresh crunchy bread and a VERY underrated bottle shop (craft beer / wine / seltzer / NA drinks). Parking lot and chill staff. One of our favorite local spots.
google avatar

Teresa B.

Yelp
Great food but terrible customer relations. Not ever returning there after we were accused of NOT having ordered something that was on our receipt but did not arrive with our food.
google avatar

Lizelle G.

Yelp
My friend and I order this place all the time! Their sandwiches are top notch and even their pastas are amazing. Perfect for picnics or lunch
google avatar

Jordie L.

Yelp
Sold me a bottle of wine that was rancid and unsafe to drink and wouldn't exchange or refund it when I brought it back.

M R.

Yelp
It's really tough to mess up pizza this badly! Ordered the forager and Parma. Both were really not good: hardly any sauce and pretty tasteless, toppings looked unappetizing, and the crust was ok but light and almost uncooked. Maybe this was a bad day but paying $20 per pizza ought to ensure an edible lunch. Disappointed and hungry!
google avatar

Nancy A.

Yelp
So glad we have this spot close to our house!! Its yummy and easy takeout with both pasta dishes and sammy/salads. Easy ordering, friendly staff, and always have an interesting selection of wines and beer, if I'm feeling up to party. haha I usually order the spaghetti and meatballs dish, the meatball sub, or any of their deli turkey or chicken sammies. Oh and heads up, they sell Boar's Head deli meat by the pound at better prices than the big grocery stores!
google avatar

Bianca L.

Yelp
Stoked that they opened a location down the street from me. Honestly, this is the best pasta I've ever had. Definitely a go-to for my pasta fix. All pasta dishes come with a delicious buttery garlic bread knot. I will list my favorites (feeds 2-3 people) I rate these dishes all 10/10: Garlic Shrimp Pasta Jambalaya Antipasto Salad Veggie Pizza (The crust is BOMB) Supreme Pizza I've tried all the sandwiches - it depends on what I'm in the mood for. Every sandwich I order I get toasted so the bread is crispy, flakey, and soft. The beer selection is a lot smaller than the larger location but there is still a lot of drinks to choose from (beers, sodas, teas, wines, kombuchas) This location does not have seating, so everything is to go. Parking in the lot
google avatar

Kylah F.

Yelp
Hidden gem of a spot next to the gas station. The hand painted sign caught my eye as we were driving past and I'm glad we stopped. Got The Heights sandwich and it did not disappoint. We ordered two sandwiches and they were made up quick, we looked around the bottle shop while we waited. They've got a great selection of waters, soda, wine, beer, and kombucha for such a small footprint. I really liked the card system they had describing the bottles of wine and where they're from. Service was friendly and I want to come back for takeaway pasta and a bottle of wine for dinner some night soon.
google avatar

Mana R.

Yelp
We've had food from both locations. Highly recommend the Heights Jambalaya Penne - creamy, garlicky, penne mildly spiced with chili flakes. Shrimp, chicken, Italian sausage, and portobello mushroom - enough for every bite. Pasta dishes come with garlic knots - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Kids love the Alfredo with chicken and today, we're trying out the Eggplant Parm and Garlic Shrimp pastas and, for the first time, a Pizza, the Forager. Jambalaya is still the best!
google avatar

Abegail B.

Yelp
First time visitor. Take out only. Ordered garlic knots, Mission Rd and Pastrami/Roast Beef sandwiches. We were happy with our order. The garlic knots were larger than we expected. When the smell of garlic filled the car, we knew we were in for a treat. As soon as we got home, we wolfed down the three pieces before we started on our sandwiches. Highly recommend eating them while they are warm. As for the sandwiches, the ratio of deli meat, veggies and bread was perfect. There was a nice amount of meat in the sandwich. You can also taste the high quality of meat (Boar's Head) that they put in their sandwiches. We are a little picky when it comes to sandwiches. We do not like the condiments (mayo, mustard, house special spread, etc.) overpowering the sandwich. We also do not like sandwiches that overload on veggies and put two or three slices of deli meat in it. If that's the case, I'll order a salad or veggies sandwich instead. You know what I mean? When I order a deli sandwich, I want to see a nice amount of deli meat and taste the deli meat. Their sandwiches are on the higher end of what we would pay, but feel that their sandwiches are worth it. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
we normally order the meatball sub and it's so good and soooooo big! it feeds me and my husband perfectly! well along with a side of truffle fries haha they have a wide and fun variety of wines, beer and sodas! it's best to order online before heading out as the wait for food can be long. there is no seating here, just a grab and go spot.

Fanny J.

Yelp
Best fresh sandwiches that are cheap and fast in service. The place is tiny but provides great wine options and ipa beers.
google avatar

Jimmy T.

Yelp
Sandwiches at this spot are bomb af. 9/10 Highly recommend the Broadway with extra pickles. The sauce has a little too much of the mayo feeling but enough purple onion to balance it out. You can taste the quality of the meat and cheese and every bite and I believe the people in the back are working their sandwich magic to combine every ingredient to perfection. This spot is pretty busy and the sandwiches take time to come out, I recommend ordering ahead of time. I'm sure the guys in the back are taking their time to make the sandwiches. I don't see a place to sit here and eat unless you want to eat the sandwich on the bench outside. However, I wouldn't since you would be facing a pretty busy gas station. The gas fumes would not add to the fancy sand which vibes.
