Everything to Know About Natural Wine in Houston | Eater Houston

"I like how the Heights Grocer, tucked into a cute corner unit on Main Street, manages to pack a large selection of natural wines into a cozy space; one wall is dedicated to “bargain” wines priced at $25 or less. The selection leans imported (reflecting more established European natural-wine producers) but still yields domestic gems like Hiyu from Oregon’s Hood River Valley, and many of the options are easy-drinking blends that are perfect for beginners getting into natural wine." - Brandon Summers-Miller

One of my favorite little places in the Heights, wonderful spot to go grab a bottle of wine on the way to a dinner party. It’s also great to just pick up some cheese and crackers when you can’t be bothered to cook dinner, and they always have a really fun selection of little gifts. I’ve loved it since it opened, and it just keeps getting better.

What a jewel of a store. Good selection of wines and cheeses.

I love this place. If I am in the mood for something new and I don't know what I want... The owner is always so nice and explains the difference between things and his recommendations are always on point. Also those frozen pizzas are fantastic- pricey but tastes like you got it at a restaurant?? Crazy. Their cheese selection is good and priced either reasonably or a little cheaper than other stores! It's a good place to check out if you are in the area with a few minutes to spare.

I've been dropping in the heights grocer for a few years now and really appreciate this unique spot. On my last trip I picked up a bottle of rose and some imported chocolates. I always enjoy trying something new each time. Staff is always friendly as well as knowledgeable and helpful with selections.

I haven't been here in the past 2+ months, but previously was a regular as I lived in the neighborhood and loved their eclectic gift options, fabulous & unique wine options, and I always find a tasty snack I have yet to try. It is pricey as most of these things are unique and/or not easy to find, but they also carry more reasonable/affordable options so I think just about anyone could find something here. I previously have been helped by the owner numerous times when in the store and he always has great recommendations based on what I describe. Can't wait to visit again!

Heights Grocer is easily one of my favorite spots in the city. Great natural wine selection that you won’t find in chain stores. I’ve been in the Wine Club for over a year and it doesn’t miss. Great customer service from folks that enjoy what they do. Would recommend THG to anyone.

Today was my first experience with what is now my favorite hidden gem for a selection of wines that are unavailable at any other local retailer. The gentleman whom I spoke with today at the shop was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. I walked by the shop twice before I found it, but the search is absolutely worth the effort.

They offer a fantastic selection of natural/organic/bio-dynamic wines. As far as I could tell, each bottle had a personalized tasting note from the owners which makes you feel like they really put thought into their selection. My girlfriend and I bought two bottles, both amazing. This is a great place to buy a bottle if you are looking to impress some friends at dinner, or simply enjoy a drink on your own. You will always come out with a unique wine that is hard to find at any other store.
