Hot San Diego Restaurant Openings You May Have Missed, July 2025 | Eater San Diego

"Carlsbad — The Henry expanded to its second location in San Diego County, opening its doors in the Forum in Carlsbad on July 23. Open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., the restaurant spans 6,783 square feet with indoor tables, an expansive bar, and ample patio seating along the front and side. Must-try dishes include the spicy tuna and crispy rice, pretzel and provolone fondue, Korean prime skirt steak fried rice, and vegetarian-friendly harvest bowl. Carrying over from their sister restaurant, the Flower Child Scramble with grilled asparagus makes an appearance on the brunch menu. Pair the dishes with the popular Hank’s espresso martini or pineapple and Thai basil soda." - Helen I. Hwang

Fox Restaurants has done it again!! We had the pleasure of participating in a grand opening dining experience at "The Henry". The food and service was WONDERFUL!! I ordered the braised short ribs, and it was tender and succulent. You can tell the meat would have gently fallen off the bone. The menu ranges from fresh seafood such as Sushi to Crab Cakes. The variety and designer touches of cocktails are on point. We ordered the olive oil cake for dessert, and it was a perfect ending to a perfect meal. The staff attended to our every needs and the food arrived promptly. Loved the experience.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Henry! Bryce was our waiter & he was fun and delivered excellent service. We ate outside on the covered patio. My hamburger was delicious and maybe the best I’ve ever eaten! Fun & upbeat atmosphere. Definitely make a reservation.

Had an amazing time here for my husbands and I 3 year wedding anniversary. I think Katie was out server I can’t remember but she was fantastic, kind, and attentive. They gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine for a congratulations! So nice. The yellowtail sushi was to die for I can’t wait to get it again, I had the rigatoni alla vodka and he has the braised short rib came out quick and hot really delicious and for dessert we had the lemon olive oil cake 10/10

This place is packed for a reason. The incredible staff made really good suggestions while efficiently seeing to our needs. Their cocktails were well balanced . I wish they had happy hour . We had vegetarians, gluten free and many other dietary restrictions and none of that was an issue .

My omelette was delicious! Pico de gallo and avocado on top and Swiss cheese and turkey inside. The omelette was $18, smaller portion size for the price so 4 stars out of 5. I asked for crispy potatoes and they weren’t the crispiest. Prices are a bit higher here, a Bloody Mary is $16. Good overall though, I would try it out again and check out another dish!

We got the pretzel bites, crispy rice with tuna, yellowtail roll and the short rib and they were all amazing. We split between two and had some leftovers. We did not make a reservation and showed up at 6pm on a Saturday but still got a table after a wait. We waited probably 50 minutes at the bar which was very pleasant and open seating, but you have to expect you’re going to have to wait without a reservation! Pricey but delicious. We’ll be back!

Went to The Henry for brunch for the first time this morning. Overall had a pleasant experience, but the food was, unfortunately, hit or miss. That said, the staff was very friendly and accommodating - the hospitality was truly top notch. Random quibbles: the restaurant was quite loud, food took a long time to reach our table (and multiple items were lukewarm or cold when it did), and we were quite surprised at the lack of fresh OJ for a spot that so highly touts its “scratch kitchen.” Details of each dish we ordered are below: Cinnamon Sugar French Toast: absolutely the best dish we ordered. 10/10 delicious, absolutely worth it. Yogurt Parfait Bowl: tasty, fresh, would order again. Small portion given the price. Huevos Rancheros Enchiladas: very disappointing. Overly salty and overpowered by the molé sauce. Definitely not satisfying for someone expecting a traditional huevos rancheros experience. Served lukewarm at best didn’t help either. Chicken Tortilla Soup: almost cold by the time it got to the table. Decent flavor, but hardly any chicken. Overloaded with tortillas. Pass. Breakfast Potatoes: truly fantastic, some of the best I’ve had. Guacamole: good, fresh, well-seasoned, satisfying chips. Would order again. Roasted Turkey French Dip: super disappointing. “Roasted Turkey” is almost laughable - it was 100% Boar’s Head deli meat. Horseradish flavor and the jus was decent, but couldn’t salvage the miss from what should have been freshly roasted turkey. Will definitely come back and give it another shot, probably for lunch or dinner.

Wow! Reading some of the low-star reviewers, wondering if they are really talking about The Henry in Carlsbad? This is THE BEST restaurant in Carlsbad, PERIOD! The hostesses are always super friendly. The staff is always amazing, the food is delicious, and the manager, Drew, makes you feel like you are part of a family gathering. If I could afford to eat there every day…I would! There is no other restaurant in Carlsbad with such an amazing staff, great food, and unpretentious atmosphere! We are definitely recommending this place to anyone who is a “foodie”…
