The Hi Hat

Very cool live music venue. A relative newcomer to the LA scene (having opened some 18 months ago at the time I write), the place is well designed and offering some very cool shows. The bar has a good variety of beers on offer. The music stage is very cool - good elevation, lighting etc. There is a row of seats on the wall opposite the stage if you need a break. The place also has some billiard tables.

Small venue that recently opened serving Eagle Rock and Highland Park areas. Mostly inexpensive shows and some free nights. Bar and food available with some pool tables inside. Stage is small but the sound is good. Great add to York blvd scene.

Went to go see Michael Goldman and Sam Gallagher of NONA the band. Interacting and conversing with the friendly band members all night was an incredible experience. The space is on the smaller side (slightly smaller than the Echo) making it very intimate. Great food awaits outside all night. I had the Mac n cheese with topped with short ribs, onion, and broccoli sprouts. It was simply incredible. The lady in the ticket booth recommended the mac n cheese which was served from a trailer that was towed by a pickup truck, and JOY which is Asian fusion in the corner, which I did not get a chance to try. Back to Hi Hat, there is some Thai fried chicken place inside and a bar where from where they serve beer from cans/bottles and wine. Everything fairly priced at $7 to $10.

I can not speak to the bar service but the atmosphere and stage are awesome! The lighting is bright enough to see each other but dim enough to not be so annoying. The sound of the live band was amazing. I could feel the percussion and bass guitar nicely mixed over the lead guitar and vocals! There is semi bleacher seating which is awesome for getting a great look of the stage over the crowds. There is no also an attached fried chicken establishment.

Space has a great raw vibe and a small, but well rounded, selection of beers. For live shows the sound tends to be a bit muddled but again the overall feel of the space makes for a solid experience. Venues like this are getting harder to find these days, and the Hi Hat is a welcome respite from all the blue LED-lit venues.

This club is a perfect location for up and coming acts to hone their skills as performers in front of a live crowd and feel the "rough nature" of making space to in tight quarters to get the show off. Not only does this club give an underground vibe but it also exudes legacy like NYC's CBGB's. Especially in the green room in the back! There are tales...true tales on the walls that will make you feel like you're on an archaeological exploration of past civilizations... the stories left on the wall are preserved and take you deeper into the history of those who came before you! I hope and pray that I can return someday and once again ROCK THE HI HAT L.A.

Great live music venue! Have played a show there and been to friend's shows. Large open performance area with pool tables on the side. Great beer selection and reasonable prices. Building is conveniently coinhabited by a Burgerlords franchise, which has great food.

Spacious venue, with plenty of places to sit/stand and watch a show. They have pool tables, a bar, and a great chicken place attached, definitely a must try!
