The Hideaway Kitchen & Bar

Fantastic pub, first class food in a tavern/pub environment. Some Hideaway turns what would be a standard pub meal into something first class, which is probably why it's packed all the time. You can eat or drink at the bar, or in the dining area which sometimes has the fireplace going. The staff are all super friendly which adds to the experience.

The appetizers were amazing, unfortunately the entree’s we wanted were out, great atmosphere.

Went with family & friends and we ordered a bunch: the calamari, spinach and artichoke dip, fried pickles, fish tacos, fish and chips, the hanger steak and the goulash. Everything was pretty good besides for the fish tacos. Just not a lot of flavor to me. I probably wouldn’t get those again. The atmosphere was good but I wish there were a few more TVs to watch games if you weren’t sitting at the bar. The service was good, my only complaint was not getting our salads until after our meals and our waitress never came back to fill up our waters after asking him for a refill.

Great food, great service. But LOUD. Lots of yelling at the bar every time we go. Makes it hard to talk. It’s a bar first, restaurant second. Should be Hideaway Bar & Kitchen, not kitchen and bar. Still enjoy going though.

Went for the first time on a Monday night. Waitress was not very friendly or welcoming. She did not want to answer any questions about the menu. 6 people attended including a chef from another restaurant and myself. Everyone was disappointed and would not go back for a second try. Mashed potatoes were not made that day and were definitely leftover from the weekend and reheated (microwaved?). They were the first thing I tasted and I knew I was in trouble. The meat in the Balboa was probably yesterdays meat also but I cannot say that as surely as I can that the potatoes were leftover. The bread for the sandwich was undercooked and unimpressive. The dipping sauce for the sandwich was made from a powdered mix and not freshly made. Every aspect of the sandwich was disappointing. Nachos were okay. Burger was okay. Nothing impressive or authentic. They took the easy way out every way possible. Maybe because it was a Monday? This is a place to watch a game and have a beer for college aged men who do not care about quality or health. If I am going to eat unhealthy, I would like it to at least be good and fresh. Not a place for me. Paul you get zero stars for the recommendation.

Not so cosy atmosphere, the lights were too bright. The plate sliders sample was tasty. Overall happy with the food.

Stopped here on way to a play & was not disappointed. This place was packed & parking was a bit difficult. Would have given five stars but the inside noise was over the too for sinner. Out sliders, beer & cider were fantastic & we will be back!

I've never ordered anything from the menu that wasn't great. Must try on the menu "Oh my cod, and lobster club sandwich but really everything is good including the service.

Always a great experience...easygoing atmosphere. Lively crowd. Bar is a great place to sit and chat. Food is delicious. Staff is very efficient. Recommend highly.

In the area for a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse, and this little hideaway was the perfect location for a quick bite. Not only was it delicious, but the service was fast and great!

Cozy bar restaurant with private parking lot. Large menu with lots of traditional offerings. Drinks were pretty strong and service was attentive. Food was decent too. Prices were as expected. Overall a nice stop for a casual bite to eat.

The Kickin' Chicken is my favorite, but their burger is also top-notch. In fact, comparing others specializes in burgers in town, Hideaway blows them out of the water. Hands down, a much better experience!

Great food and service! First chicken pot pie of the season and it did not disappoint. Delicious!! A lot of great food selections on the menu. We'll definitely be back to order them!! Thank you!

Good is great. I had the beef bourguignon everyone had a taste of mine and said we had to return so they could get their own next time. The place is very cute but gets very busy by noon on a Sunday so prepare for that. Service is ok seems to be a bit understaffed with language barriers. But I would definitely return.

Really cute place with down home atmosphere. Menu has a good variety of eats. We went to watch UCONN's women's team clinch another championship and were pleasantly surprised with the food. Not just the typical bar food fare. Service was good.

Good, family friendly place in Ridgefield. Has lots of bar food to chooses from and some healthier options as well.

We were visiting friends who live nearby and based on their recommendation, came here for dinner on a Sunday night. It wasn't too packed so we got a table easily (apparently it can get really busy and the parking lot fills up on popular nights). They have a nice menu with lots of options. The inside is more rustic, it's a casual spot but with yummy food with something for everyone. Everything I tried was pretty tasty!

We hadn't been here since before the pandemic. We remembered it being a reliably good place for pub food, especially remembering a lobster bisque and a French dip sandwich they used to offer. The food today was unrecognizable. The open-face steak sandwich wasn't actually open-face; it was just served open on the plate. It featured low-quality meat, full of gristle. Most of it was left on the plate. The seafood "scampi" was very strange, with a lemon and Parmesan sauce over perhaps the worst risotto preparation I've ever seen. Again, most of it was left on the plate. The chicken fingers for a child at the table looked like frozen food but bad frozen food, with more breading than meat. Half of it was left on the plate. In terms of service, no waitstaff checked in on us to see if everything was to order. No waitstaff came around to refill water glasses. Meanwhile, two waitresses stood around, watching the room. Everything is overpriced. The meal was more than $100 for one shared appetizer, three entrees, one kids meal, and three sodas. They do offer a 5% discount if you post a review on Yelp, but I didn't want to share this with them. We won't be back.

My wife and I stopped in here for a quick meal before a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse. The place was packed, but the service was quick and excellent. The menu was very versatile and has more selections than most restaurants across a wide range of cuisines. I am impressed that the kitchen can handle all of these options. We were both happy with out meal selections and the food preparation was also excellent. Prices were reasonable as well. I would definitely return for another meal.

We tried this restaurant when visiting family in Westchester. We sat outside and enjoyed the patio on a lovely afternoon in late June. The seating was comfortable and service was attentive. My son had a cheeseburger with fries and he said it was delicious. I had a salad and it was great. Highly recommend.

Drive by this place all the time when running around Ridgefield but never stopped in. Finally had a chance on a random Weds and really enjoyed it. The menu is extensive so takes a bit to figure out the order but they were quick with drinks to tide us over while deciding. We tried a few of the appetizers and enjoyed each very much. My guest actually got so full on apps there was no main ordered. I went with the kick n chikn sandwich and it was delicious! Place was not crowded at all and had a cool vibe inside. The staff was all friendly enough and service was good. If in the area it's another solid choice to add to the list of places to eat.

I still love it here coming back all these years later! The service is helpful, everything was fast, the crowd is fun, and the interior is cozy. We got some food to go and it was all great. I enjoyed the St. Paddy's spring rolls with the horseradish dip & my Medium Rare Umami burger (no cheese) w/ onion rings.

Vast menu and quick service. We came in early and as space filled up noise levels increased significantly - hard to hold a conversation without shouting at times. Food was delivered hot and everyone at table received food at the same time. Chicken over salad was fresh and good. Fish tacos appeared to be "precut" fish pieces and taste was bland. However, would return because it is convenient to ACT (around the corner)..

Fairly small, apparently popular with the locals. The food was unfortunately pretty mediocre. The menu is huge, which usually indicates a lot of frozen food, and I think that's what we have here. I had the St. Patty's Spring Rolls, expecting a Reuben-style roll. They had very little meat and some kind of carrot/cabbage mix I think, but no identifiable flavor. The fried pickles were heavily breaded and not very dill. Skip the pretzel bun burger... the bun was so dry I took it off, and was surprised to find a teeny little piece of meat underneath. Disappointing, but the bacon on it was crispy so point for that. I don't eat in Ridgefield often so can't say if there is anything great in the area, but you might want to look first.

We went to this restaurant for the first time tonight. It had a very big menu and was hard to decide but we chose the fried pickles to start and then the fish and chips. The fish and chips came with a nice salad as well as cole slaw with our meal. The fish was lightly breaded and very tasty. It was served with fries and everything was served hot. We decided to have desert and had the fried Oreo sundae for two. It was great. Our server John was the best and the restaurant was very comfortable maybe a little noisy but not bad. We will certainly be back to try something else

I never write a review but I had to complain about my pickup order. my corned beef reuben was the worst i ever ever had. The meat was tough and i would be embarrassed to serve it. I can't believe the chef allowed it to go on bread. it was disgusting. The other meal , the seafood pot pie was awful too. It was mainly potatoes and was like mush covered by some kind of dough. rather than driving back and asking for a refund i did this review. Never again will i order from the hideaway.

I have been a regular here every Thursday for 3 years! The food is fantastic and the employees are kind and welcoming!

I really need to come here more often. First of all, there's a new menu (new to me - it's been a couple months). Pared down but still lots of great comfort food options. I had a terrific seafood pot pie. I was worried that it would taste frozen. Nope! Succulent chunks of seafood. Creamy sauce. Rich, buttery puff pastry. My wife crushed her go to balboa sandwich. Kids had grilled cheese and they even substituted broccoli for the fries for my older boy. I washed mine down with a cold Spaten. Faith was a friendly and attentive waitress throughout. If it's been awhile since you've popped in to this old standard neighborhood joint, it's time for another visit!

The hideaway is probably the top American/comfort food spot in Ridgefield. The buffalo chicken wrap, lobster club sandwich, and burgers are all top notch. Good crowd of regulars and usually quite busy but if you want good, well priced American food in a casual atmosphere this is the spot.

Visited for the first time this weekend and was VERY pleasantly surprised. This is a casual restaurant and bar with the usual set up...Football on multiple TV's...Loudish atmosphere, etc. These kind of places are common but what's uncommon about The Hideaway is the food and service are outstanding! Large portions of high-quality food...Repeat high-quality food prepared by folks who know what they are doing. We'll definitely return!!

The Kung Pao Chicken Potstickers, as an appetizer, were good. The two sauces, sweet, or spicy, was perfect. The Sesame Ginger Bowl was a bit spicy, but he Roasted Corn Salad was superb. The noise level in the restaurant was so loud my wife needed to put earplugs in. Thankfully, we had them since we were going to the Ridgefield Playhouse from dinner. We had difficulty hearing each other because of all of the other customers speaking/yelling. Overall, we enjoyed the food, the prices are reasonable, and the draft beer list was right on target.

Unfortunately, this place did not live up to the Yelp reviews. It's too bad, because I had bookmarked this spot a while ago and was really excited to try it out. For appetizers, we did fried pickles and the st. Paddy's egg rolls. Both were clearly frozen and flash fried, and the egg rolls (albeit frozen) were not good. Fried pickles were okay, but a ton of breading. For my entree I did the meatloaf grilled cheese. The meatloaf was very tasty, but the sandwich was short on the cheese and the bread was stale. Our server was very nice, but she was very busy since she was running the entire floor (maybe someone called out?). I won't be trying this spot again, but do hope it was just an off night for the bread (Jared's pretzel roll for his burger was also stale).

Amazing food and great customer service! Would recommend the lobster mac & cheese, they gave a good size portion of lobster.

I drove out from the other side of the state to meet up with my friend and he brought me here. We didn't feel like waiting for indoor dining so we opted to eat outside. It was a bit chilly out so we got some warm soup and let me tell you, their French onion soup is cheese pull magnificent. The Zuke fries are great to share between friends, and I loved the corn salad with grilled shrimp. The pom martini could have been a little more flavorful, but it certainly warmed me up.

On top of these SUPER DUPER DELICIOUS SANDWICHES, they have guinnes on draft. The place is nice, they have a fireplace that they lite in cold weather. Good for groups, great bar, food is Amazing. Last time our waiter was so professional that we will go back just to enjoy that level of service again. ;) this is a jewel in Ridgefield

I just had the Nantucket Fish & Chips at The Hideaway for lunch. It was the best fish and chips I have EVER had! We have had a family home on Cape Cod for decades and I have had all kinds of fish over the years and this was better than anything I've hadron the Cape!!! And the homemade coleslaw was delicious!! Great service as well!!

We were looking for a place to eat after going to a local art museum. It said gastropub which really enticed me. When you pull into the parking lot it looks like a hole in the wall and you don't believe it's a restaurant bar, and there aren't that many tables. That said the food was amazing and the selection is fantastic. I had the brisket chili and parmesan truffle fries and they were awesome. I would definitely come back because they're such an extensive menu. The staff is very friendly and I had to ask for one extra thing with my meal and it was brought very quickly. I will be a repeat customer for sure

Big menu, great food. Love the Chicken BLT. Salads are great too. All the locals are here, so parking can be tricky.

Ants swarming all over the table, lipstick stains on the cup, and was over all not clean, absolute terrible waiter service, nor did the pens to sigh our bill worked, they were all out of ink. Personally I will not be coming back.

The Hideaway is a favorite of ours. Always great food and great service! Atmosphere is family oriented and boisterous, but we love it.

Just had a terrific meal at The Hideaway. The mussels were tasty and plentiful. The Kickn Chicken was delicious (get the onion rings). My daughter had a lasagna special and she cleaned her plate. Local vibe, excellent service, tasty food, reasonable prices. What more can you ask for!

Great bar. Good wings, nice TV coverage and we like the leave it shine if it's not broke vibe.

First review of Hideaway was in 2013, 5 star then and 5 star now, also still eating Ridgefields best burger the Grove Street burger. In the nearly 1 decade Pat has added a great outdoor place to sit and enjoy the air, and Tvs and upgraded the interior. Still the best bar, still the best and most taps in town. We are lucky to have the Hideaway and their great staff.

If you like burgers or quasi diner food this is your kind of place. Can get a little loud depending on the time you go .

i love a good girl dinner here. the ceaser salad, fries, and the sirloin tips are so good finished w the fried oreos, affordable, good service, and good food. I'm 9 months pregnant so i couldn't drink but the drinks also looked good and reasonably priced. You can take your kids here, website menu doesn't say it but they have lots of options on kids menu everything is $9 with a drink. just don't get the kids pizza. all in all 8/10 i left happy and full

The burger and the shepard's pie was good. The schnitzel we couldn't eat. The egg was green. Not sure why. The schnitzel was over-cooked, dry, rubbery, sour, and inedible. It's like it had been sitting there for days before they serving. Very disappointing. This was my first time to try the food here.

Absolutely delightful chicken pot pie!! Like SO good! I usually avoid picking food like that off a menu but something was inspiring me.. happy i made that decision! Fried pickles were excellent also! Sat with a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their meals :)

Good food nice atmosphere -good service. We are at the bar and the bartender was extremely friendly..we were new to Ridgefield, CT.

We went to The Hideaway for dinner a couple months ago; this was our second time eating there. The ambiance was just ok. It felt a bit grubby and the table seemed sticky. I think an overhaul and cleaning up is in order. The food was ok; the service was slow. I asked our waiter for a glass of wine two or three times and never got it so I went to the bar and got it myself. The bartender was very nice. I think this place has potential but it could use an overhaul.

We looked pretty closely at some places to eat before a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse; there are definitely fancier places, and maybe more fru fru, but we just wanted a Good Meal with Acceptable Beverages. The Oktoberfest menu kind of pushed us over the edge. Caveat- parking might be a little tight. We arrived around 5 pm, got a table next to the fireplace right off the bat. Service was attentive if maybe a little rushed. My wife's meatball stroganoff was HUGE, and exceptional. I had the sauerbraten seasonal special, and it made me smile. Short story made long, go here. We will absolutely return.

1st time here. A cozy, friendly neighborhood bistro. The food was not only very good, but appealing to the eye, very good presentation. Very attentive wait staff. We will return...

Love this place. Always great food, menu options, service and atmosphere. It's our favorite in Ridgefield.
