Loved it here. We went on a Friday night for our very first time last weekend. It just so happened to be karaoke night, which made the night even more fun! We had a really great dinner there too. We started with fried pickles. The other plates we had were the rib eye with loaded mashed potatoes, and the catfish plate. The rib eye was cooked perfectly to order! Our waiter was super attentive, and friendly as well. We'll definitely be going back!

Google
Definitely a bar vibe type of place with decent food for the money ..All day steak on Tuesday for 18$ I believe and the lemon drop was a hit for sure ..Best one I’ve had yet to be honest ! I can actually taste the fresh lemon !I’ll go back

Don't let the bar atmosphere fool you, the steak plate is pretty good! Loved the loaded mashed potatoes. Service was very attentive!

I’ve been very demure as of late; however, given the long wait in a dirt filed chair for an abundance of salt tossed on a fatty steak was absurd. I love the gritty ambience. The bar atmosphere was complimented by signed dollars stapled on every inch of the walls. The 1st problem was the unclean chairs. I was sure if I should sit or stand and order food. After the server took 10-15 minutes to greet us for our drink and food order, I already knew there would be a long wait. We ordered steaks on steak night. Not many people were there. Perhaps 15-20 people / 8 tables (1-3 guests per table). It took 1 hour exactly! Please refrain from ordering the onions / mushroom toppings. The amount of salt can season a gallon of pasta. The seal had ample fat that needed to be trimmed. For $20, it’s a good meal but not the wait. If you do try this place, go directly to the bar. The server has too much to do. Perhaps there you won’t have a funky seat or a super long wait. Ciao

The hideaway On Dunvale is a no frills place that you can go with your friends to eat and hangout. It’s laid back and they offer a bar section you can sit at comfortably with someone or by yourself. There are TV’s at the top of the bar that you can watch to entertain yourself. There is also a variety of alcoholic drinks 🍺 you can choose from. On the other side of the restaurant there are high tables and regular tables. The interior is stapled with 1 dollar 💵 bills and a stage at the front. We ordered the steak 🥩 with potato 🥔 on the side and salad. All were great and a great portion, just for $20 each plate!!!! This deal is only on Tuesdays so take advantage of this , definitely recommend ⭐️

Wow was that food GOOD!! I finished an appointment in the area and was hungry. Hideaway had great food reviews. I wasn’t sure walking in if I made the right choice. But as soon as we were greeted and fed I knew I found a gem! I said out loud, “this is the best fried catfish I have ever had!” And I meant it! Crawfish was also tender and delicious. Great service! Great place! Horrible parking lot 😂🙌🏼

We just stopped in here for a quick lunch. Staff was friendly, food came out quickly, and bloody mary was good. The prices were good. 31 bucks for a bowl of chili, a cheeseburger and tots, and 2 bloody marys. Food was pretty good the chili was the bomb. Very small complaint....the cheeseburger was overloaded with mustard like a TON of mustard. I'd go back if I was in the area.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great spot to unwind, Hideaway in Houston is the place to be! This local sports bar offers a nice, chill environment with plenty of TVs and outdoor space. Whether you're catching the game or just hanging out, you'll love the vibe here. We spent our time on the patio, enjoying drinks and food with happy hour prices all day. The potato skins and wings were a hit! The potato skins were huge, topped with shredded cheese, bacon bits, and green onions. The fresh salsa that comes with them has a perfect kick of spice. The wings were perfectly sauced and delicious. The lemon pepper wings are a standout, with a marinade that balances the flavors of lemon and pepper in every bite. The sweet Thai chili wings are vibrant and unforgettable, definitely not an average bottled sauce. Hideaway also features a pool table and a stage for karaoke events, adding to the fun atmosphere. With great service, chill vibes, and excellent food, I highly recommend Hideaway for your next outing!

Yelp
Do not recommend this place if you're a person of color, my mom went to this restaurant tonight and the bartender racially profiled her and treated her like trash because her English wasn't that good. I would not spend my money on a place that treats people poorly just because they don't speak proper English. She left crying and decided to go to a different restaurant where she felt Do not recommend.

Yelp
Good specials on delicious food. Steak, baked potato and salad for $22, with generous portions. Love the music and kind staff. If you haven't been there yet, go visit!

Yelp
I've been coming here for ages. The people are amazing, and the food is even better! I always feel like part of the family here. They've usually got the TVs on with a game or something fun, plus there's music too. And don't forget to bring a dollar to put on the wall!

Yelp
The Hideaway is an old time bar - with really good food and service. Don't expect white tablecloths. Inside is dark, but the deck is spacious. Daily specials. And music some nights - go for the open jams!

Yelp
Always a vibe when I come here. Love steak night!! The live band sets the atmosphere off every time

Yelp
The food items we ordered were soooo good! Surprisingly good for a bar. We had brisket nachos, bacon grilled cheese and Mac & cheese balls. All were delish! Drinks were a bit underwhelming. We got gummy bear shots turned into drinks and they were just a bit too sweet. Maybe that was our mistake. Service was great!!! Will return!

Yelp
On our first visit we decided we would never go back. The manager was extremely rude when the 6 people in our party entered. The smell inside was horrible. The parking lot was poorly maintained. The bathroom smelled like gas station. There are MANY BETTER PLACES TO GO!!!!

Yelp
It's just an all around great dive bar. Feels like family. The drinks are really good and the food is EXCELLENT!!!

Yelp
Folks have had mixed feelings about this place, but I've always have had a great experience here and once U know the staff, it becomes even more chill. Joel, Richard, Connor, Vanessa, Chrissy etc. It has been a few months since my last visit and and update review was due. Steak nights Tuesday. $14 with a potato and small side salad. A 16oz ribeye, grilled and seasoned so well. I also ordered some grilled veggies which were delicious and Joel said he grilled it himself. Normally the band also plays on Tuesday and open mic night. Covid restrictions in place. Mask required upon entry. Workers all masked up. This would another great spot to watch a ball game. Kudos to all the workers for doing a fantastic job during this timeframe.

Gary N.

Yelp
Very cool dive. Good food and bar drinks. If you get easily offended, stay away. People here say what mean and mean what they say. Dive bar decor is pretty cool.

Yelp

Yelp
Always great bar food ... chicken fried chicken is the best ..... now if your looking for fruity drinks go elsewhere this place is strait to the point

Nicholas B.

Yelp
Called to ask if they were hiring and dude who picked up the phone was a real a**hole. haven't ever tried the food and don't ever wanna try it due to just that experience. It just seemed like he was in a horrible mood when he answered, took your anger out on the wrong person
google avatar

Oswaldo L.

Yelp
This is my "neighborhood" bar. Food is above any "bar food", and the wonderful ladies at the bar will treat you as family (however don't mess with them since she will keep you with the feet on the ground for the peace of the rest of the patrons).

Jeanne V.

Yelp
Went there for BBQ night and have been there for steak night. BOTH were fabulous! Tons of food - plenty left over for a second or even third meal. Both were also very tasty! My only complaint would be that the bartenders aren't very friendly. They're not BAD; service is fine, but don't expect a big friendly "Hello!" when you go in.
google avatar

Alan S.

Yelp
I've been here a few times over the last few years usually for Rodeo related events. This most recent time I had fried pork chop which was delicious. It was the special and therefore extremely affordable. On top of it I had good service from the bartender who came over to take our order and kept our drinks full.

Yelp
Great $14 steak night special (15 oz ribeye, baked potato, salad) and live music on Tuesday and Saturday nights. Located off of Richmond and Dunvale, this establishment has a divey sports-bar feel. They serve good food (burgers, appetizers, chicken) that are beyond the bar food fare. The beers and cocktails are reasonably priced as well. The bartenders are nice and friendly. The only issue I have is their parking lot. It's big with lots of parking spaces, however the gravel is rough. Overall a great low-key place to hang out any night of the week.
google avatar

Yelp
Daily specials! My favorite is Tuesday and Saturday night, $20 steak night!! 16 Oz ribeye, with a stuffed potatoe and a salad. Very tender and delicious, love it!
google avatar

Titus B.

Yelp
They have a Friday fried shrimp special that I sub the fried mushroom & they are both to die for. Also have a steak night rib eye on Saturdays that is great too! Got lots of beer on tap. Great food!
google avatar

Patty C.

Yelp
Their steak nights are a total dud now. No sear, tough, with less options. Sad because it was once upon a time a great place to order a bar steak. Service is hit or miss but mostly misses.
google avatar

Yelp
I hate doing this but I must. Back about 18 months ago and before this was my favorite bar cooked steak in town with a great salt and pepper tasting rub that made the steak shine. It was scrumptious. Well something has changed and not for the better. During my last 3 visits, the steaks now taste like everyone else's with the great salt and pepper rub missing. I even asked a manager about it a few months ago and he swore nothing has changed. Same cooks, same seasoning, etc. I don't consider myself to have a sensitive palate but I can easily taste the difference. I don't mind the increase in cost by $2 as everything goes up in price over time it's just now their steaks are average when they used to be superior. That's why I am still giving a 3. It's a ok but not stellar like it used to be. I probably will never order another steak for just for that reason.

Yelp
This was my first time at The Hideaway, and I have heard a lot of great things about this place. My visit took place during COVID-19, so I cannot vouch for service prior to a global pandemic. I met a friend of mine there on a Monday around 5:30 pm. We were the only one's dining inside, so the service was spectacular. You must wear a mask upon entry, and if you are moving about the restaurant such as going to the bar or restroom. Staff wears masks as well. Monday is all day happy hour, and believe me when I tell you, we took full advantage of it. The drinks were nice and strong, and made to perfection. Since we were drinking, we had to order some food. I ordered the Shrimp Brochette and Potato Skins. I'm used to Shrimp Brochette being grilled; however, The Hideaway deep fries theirs. No problem. They were good, but it seemed like they were fried too long, which made them kind of hard. The Potato Skins were the same way. It seemed like they were overcooked. My friend ordered the fried pork chop, which comes with two sides. She gave me a taste of her pork chop, which was fried too long as well. I was kind of disappointed in the food being overcooked. It was well seasoned and tasted great, but being fried too long took away from it. The staff was very friendly and attentive, which I liked. I get that we were the only ones there, but at other places, I have experienced bad service even though there were only a few people in the restaurant. They have a huge private parking lot, so there is no need to worry about valet or street parking. This made me very happy. I am looking forward to going back because I have heard great things about this place.

Yelp
Great people, great food. Local spot where everybody knows your name. Best patio in West Houston. Steak night w/ Rick Lee is the bomb!

Yelp
Nothing else to say other than the fact that the TACOS was top knotched, and drinks were i point. Our bartender and server was super cool. I had the Ribeye Tacos. Be sure to try them-amazing!

Yelp
I love the Hideaway!! Been coming here every time I visit Houston for the past 10 yrs!! Especially their Ribeye Steak day served only on Tuesdays or Saturdays!! Definitely a great recommendations!!

Yelp
Great food and even better service. Staff is always friendly. Outdoor covered patio is great for a warm Houston afternoon.

Yelp
My go to steak night in Houston. The price is slightly higher than before, but it's still super affordable. For 16 - 18 dollars with a loaded bake potatoes and salad, you will leave very satisfied

Yelp
Star based solely on the crawfish ! 7$lb and they taste like boiled in plain hot water no season what so ever ! Had the 2lb minimum and left! Would never go back for the crawfish. Now the well drinks during happy hour are 3.25$ can't beat that price a thought my vodka and cranberry was drowned out. Didn't have another drink there. Don't waste your money on the crawfish though.

Yelp
This place is a still one of my favorites. The concept is simple. No frills, just good people, good drinks, good service and great food. I was craving steak early yesterday and this place came to mind before all else. At $14 bucks you won't find a better deal on a perfectly cooked 16oz steak and two sides. I text my husband to see if he was down and he said " live music, the Rockets game and steak? Of course!". When we arrived around 8:30 pm on Saturday there was still plenty of parking. We walked in and there was a good amount of folks mingling and munching. Several going in on Crawfish. A few people at the bar inside watching the games and a crowd outside. We plopped down at the bar and were greeted within 2 minutes. Placed our drink orders and filled out our steak night selection. The band was starting up and you could hear all the games. The vibe was nice. As I looked around I once again appreciated the diversity of the crowd in this bar. The bartenders checked on us several times throughout the night and stayed on top of refilling my husband's Shiner. Our food arrived piping hot. Orders were correct and steak perfectly cooked. I have been to some of the finest steak restaurants in Houston and they still require steak sauce. Not these steaks! They are flavorful, juicy and well seasoned. I love the fried okra and they are generous with the portions. Honestly if I didn't stay way on the Westside I would visit more often but at least it's always worth the drive.

Yelp
First things first! It truly is a hideaway. As soon and you turn the corner, it's right there so don't miss! Huge parking lot and a long rectangular building I can't for the life of me get steak night right! I keep coming on the wrong day! But I hear it's Tuesday, so please believe I'm coming back because I love a good steak night. Every time I'm here the staff is outstanding and the drinks are perfect. I don't live close to this place, but I consider it my on again off again watering hole. The chili is really good, they put ribeye in it and make it really meaty. I've also had the steak and it's really tender and good. Comes with a salad and baked potato. I love this place, it's dark, there's money on the walls (literally) and there always something good On the TV.

Yelp
First of all. The food is pretty good. Small little bar. But nice. One star cuz of experience. We had this one waitress literally come to us and tell us that since didn't tip as much as she wanted us to, that we should never come back to the bar. Not even playing. I know I tipped generously. I can't say for 30 extra people that I brought in. But in all seriousness, to say that to customers is the worst thing to ever say. I usually bring 30 people with me at least twice a month. And I never had this kind of experience anywhere. Some caucasian employee with long black hair, and red pants. Decided to have an attitude and tell us all to never ever come back. I just thought that was the worst experience. I also saw her basically talk s#$* in front of us for another 30 minutes to the other employees. My group of friends and fellow colleagues got so mad about the situation, basically decided we all were never coming back. And will tell others to never come back. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Congratulations on choice of employees.

Yelp
STEAK NIGHT just doooooooo it!!! 16 oz Ribeye (no bone) Loaded baked potato Side salad FOR ONLY $12. OKAY. Technically $13 ($1 tax) but no big deal. Came here on Saturday night with a couple friends and the waitress immediately asked, "Here for steak?" Dayum. They know. Place is so chill with a live band. Might I add the band was HELLA good. Granted it's so loud that you really can't have a conversation but you know whateves. I'm too busy eating this juicy medium rare steak. ya feel? yo that steak was HELLA GOOD. for $13, a 16oz ribeye, loaded baked potato, and a side salad, it's perfect. It's affordable. Come. Enjoy steak night. Maybe a couple beers. Be entertained by the live band.

Brett D.

Yelp
Such a Bad Experience! So disappointing! I tried to asked about a scotch on the menu and the bartender forgot and never got back to me... Just circled around with the other employees talking... Then I just tried to make a simple order of onion rings and another bartender also forgot... Then waited a 3rd time they never came around to ask me if I wanted anything else or give me my bill... I had to walk up to the front register to pay... Just sitting there being ignored and watching other customers around me eating (that ordered after me)... Incredibly humiliating, demeaning and f'd up! I used to go here a lot and it was great but now there is no more customer service... Why are employees so focused on socializing with themselves and can't give normal customer service anymore? Is that so difficult? Frustrating and aggravating experience! (not to mention lost revenue to the owners)...
google avatar

Yelp
The decision is in.... The Hideaway has the best Buffalo Hot Wings in Houston!!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in the Houston Dive Bar scene. I came on Tuesday for Steak Night and was not disappointed. When you walk in you find your own table and a waitress promptly bring you a sheet of paper in which you can choose how you want your steak cooked, what you want on your potatoes, and the dressing for your salad. You just circle your options, write you name on the paper, and await your meal. My husband was specially excited to find this place because they carry Dos Equis on tap. Even on a Tuesday night the place was a bit crowded and rowdy. There was live Blues music which created a perfect atmosphere to enjoy your steak. Overall, this is a great place with its own parking lot and good service. I will be coming back on Tuesdays from now on.
google avatar

Nathan N.

Yelp
My friend decided to take me to a meaty restaurant but I wasn't expecting a 16oz ribeye steak for dinner. Couple that with a side and loaded baked potato and you've got one hell of a dinner. I normally don't have steak with just some salt and peppah but this one was made very well to my medium request. It was a very good steak and I started recommending this hideaway to many of my friends and coworkers. Can't find a better deal anywhere else for $14 steak. They also had very good service. My friend wanted a normal baked potato but she received a loaded one instead. When we asked for correction, they had one out right away and allowed us to keep the other too.

Jayla S.

Yelp
VERY RACIST PLACE ! The bartender was very rude, first time coming & last! Me & my friend which we are young African American females in our mid 20's wanting to try crawfish. On the walk in nasty looks we're given as walking to the bar we asked about seating, since it was our first time. The bartender IMMEDIATELY gave a nasty look & rudely asked for our ID, basically assuming we were not of age. Definitely a poor experience & will never return!
google avatar

Nancy R.

Yelp
One of the best steak nights ever! Drinks are good and reasonable! We had great service yes they get their pops and get in the weeds.. Ginger loved this place it's a bit out of the way for us but we will definitely be back. The flavor of the steak was out of this world! The seasoning was spot on.

Larry C.

Yelp
Saturday night is $20. Ribeyes steak night. I ordered mine medium rare with baked potatoes and salad. The steak was perfect and the potatoes and salad were delicious. The young lady was served us was very polite and efficient. We sat outside in a very cool evening in a nice patio setting.

Yelp
Came here last night for dinner before going to a show and had an OK time. First, the parking lot is reasonably large, so we easily found a spot (although we arrived before the band started playing, so it might get busier later in the evening). It was a seat yourself kind of establishment, so after some deliberation, we grabbed a table with some high stools and waited for someone to come take our order. Sure enough, not too much later, a waitress stopped by and asked us what drinks we wanted. Those drinks (a beer and a very large glass of water) came quite quickly, so things were off to a good start. However, that's when things went downhill a bit. It took the waitress a long time to come back to get our food order, and I was very, very hungry, so that was a little unfortunate :) When she did finally come by, I ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger (with grilled onions!), while my fiancee grabbed the regular cheeseburger and also ordered a cocktail. The wait for the food wasn't too long, but unfortunately the waitress completely forgot my fiancee's cocktail (and didn't check in our table between when she got our food orders and when she brought our food). So that was a little disappointing for my fiancee, since she kind of wanted her cocktail earlier in the meal. Anyway, once we reminded her about the cocktail, she quickly went and got it, so that was good. The food was OK. Nothing amazing, but it got the job done. The fries were actually really tasty, but the burger was not super flavorful. My fiancee really liked her burger and tots (they were exactly what she was looking for), so that was great. Overall, I would probably not come back here. The waitress forgot our drink and the food was decent but nothing incredible. I guess I didn't mention the ambiance above - it was a pretty standard bar environment, so I had no problem with it, but I also wouldn't seek it out actively most days.

Imelda H.

Yelp
The steak is so delicious some times the service is slow but it's worth the wait the ambiance is nice you can entertain yourself on the tv or reading the dollar bills on the wall.
google avatar

Vy D.

Yelp
Great place for some steak on Tuesday night with music! I came here three times and they don't disappoint on their steak. The crawfish isn't the best in town, they don't prewash it before cooking so it has weeds stuck in the crawfish. Seasons were mediocre, you can find better seasoning at any other asian crawfish place. Price was good but taste wasn't so much. Drinks are pricey and the usually don't have special deals on them. Do come on the days they have specials and try them. Delicious and doesn't break your wallet!
google avatar

Drew K.

Yelp
A bar true to its name, the Hideaway is a sneaky little dive bar tucked away on Dunvale hiding from the more polished Galleria and Memorial nieghborhood establishments nearby. This place is no frills and no nonsense. They serve plenty of cold beer, mixed drinks and cocktails and have a pretty good price for crawfish come season. I haven't had any other food here but will assum it's something like hamburgers, a steak nights and tasty fried things served in plastic baskets. It's an icehouse. Crowd varies on the night though in general it's a mix of bar flies, local neighborhood dads sneaking out for a beer and the random walk ins, such as myself, not realizing there's been a bar across from AMC 30 all this time. If you're just looking for a beer, a patio, crawfish and maybe some live blues on the weekends, you should be happy.

Christopher S.

Yelp
Atmosphere.... The employees are top notch and share my love of the Astros. Prices are very fair and portions are just right.

Sandra M.

Yelp
The drinks are cheap, the service is good and the food is surprisingly AMAZING!!! Why did nobody tell me about their Amazing wings?! Will definitely be returning
