"The Hideout is in a small old house in the middle of an industrial yard - and it’s one of the best cultural hubs in the city. Music, comedy, podcasts, political panels, and more are hosted here, a place where you can get a cheap drink any night of the week. They also have a great dance party every Saturday at midnight." - Josh Barnett

I was recommended to try this place by a friend who lives in Aptos and decided to come out and try this place with my girlfriends. Since it was just three of us, we decided to go to the bar, and as soon as we sat down, we were greeted by the bartender with we were soon to find out had amazing customer service. Since we decided to share plates, we ordered a couple of dishes, which included the brussels sprouts, fried chicken sandwich, chicken pesto alfredo pasta, and chicken wings. All of the food we tried was delicious and paired perfectly with the drinks we ordered! The atmosphere was friendly, and even the regulars at the bar were fun to speak with. I would love to come again and sit in the dining area and take my friends out to lunch next time.

Lunch with a friend on a lovely Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was contemporary and inviting. We were seated inside the restaurant by a very friendly host. I had Seared Tuna Salad which was delicious. Had the just the right amount of dressing and the tuna was seared perfectly. The staff was attentive and friendly. This was my first visit to Hideout and really enjoyed it. I can't wait to come back with my husband. Revision... Took my husband for lunch. We shared a Cuban sandwich and a Caesar salad. Both excellent. Cuban sandwich served on sliced sourdough bread was surprisingly good. It was crispy outside, grilled in butter? and soft inside. Not at all soggy. Dijon aioli really helped with the pulled pork, which seemed to be a tad dry. The sliced pickles really made the sandwich. Caesar salad was very good with shaved parmesan cheese on top with freshly ground pepper. The dressing had all the main ingredients I like, such as garlic, anchovies, salt and acid. Yum! Although Bloody Mary was not on the menu, I was able to order it. Thank you! It wasn't the best I've had, but I enjoyed it.

Really good service and food! I had the special which was Ono fish, wasabi mash potatoes and carrots and asparagus! Perfect size meal and good price. My wife had the Cuban which was huge! Great atmosphere as well. Highly recommend!

Google
Locally owned and delicious. We called ahead for a large table for a weekday lunch and truly appreciated the accommodations! Table was ready with waters, and the welcome was warm and genuine. Service was superb! Everyone enjoyed their meal! From salads to sandwiches to appetizer meals, we cleaned off the plates— great size portion and full of flavor. Great for small or big groups. Also known to be a great place in the evening. (They also generously support local schools.)

The food was great and the portion size was huge! Everything tasted fresh and can definitely be shared.. the service is top notch and really adds so much to the entire experience.

The food far exceeded our expectations! Staff was amazing. The cream sauce with the salmon was the best I've had in this state. Highly recommend!

Google
Always great food and very kind and thoughtful service. Many different spots in the restaurant for how loud or quiet/chill of a vibe you’re looking for burgers are solid. Other local favorites are the salmon and the salad. Seems like the staff are well respected by the management, and the owner is a friendly guy.

Wow, absolutely delicious tasting good. The starters were delicious. Had the chorizo cheese dip and artichoke hearts. Then for my entree had the half baked chicken with this amazing sauce on top of it, with mashed potatoes and veggies. Very unique taste.

Yelp
The place was lively and filled with folks on a Friday night. At times it was difficult to hear and talk amongst your own table because of this. However it wasn't a huge issue for us. The food was amazing! We ordered the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and I enjoyed the balsamic glaze and the large Parmesan slices on the side. For my main I ordered the special which was a skirt steak in a teriyaki sauce with a loaded baked potato and some steamed veggies. It was definitely a hearty and balanced meal and I still think about it to this day. Definitely check this place out! Parking can be a lil tricky since it's kinda small.

Yelp
i've been to this restaurant two separate times and both were polar opposite experiences; so i'm going to go neutral with a 3/5 rating. the first time was in may 2024 the second was january 2025. the first visit: we had excellent service, the staff were all friendly, and the food was fantastic. the ahi poke tower is TO DIE FOR. january 2025: we had a little bit of a wait which was to be expected for a saturday night. when we finally got sat outside, our waiter was super attentive and came to check on us often. they had tons of fires going which helped with the cold! after we ordered it became a completely different dining experience. we didn't see our server for a long while -- one of the fires was out of propane and finally had to ask someone else to replace it. after almost 45 minutes we finally got our food. everyone's food was colder than room temp, like it had been sitting out for a while *womp womp*. the food seemed wildly under seasoned and the kids food came out last. our server didn't come to check on us till we were half way done with our food so we had to ask other staff for things. our server was attentive to his other tables, so when we were done with our food (and trying to leave) we again had to ask for our check from another server and continue to wait. i work in the hospitality industry, so i'm cognizant of how heavy this industry has been hit. however, serving cold food (when you expect it to be warm) and spending over $150 on a meal is just a tough pill to swallow. hopefully it was just a bad day, and that things are always like my first experience! semi-minimal parking lot too, but there's the street for additional parking.

Yelp
We have dinner here every year during our pre-Christmas Eve vacation in Aptos, and it's always a highlight for our family. The kids and adults love the food and the welcoming atmosphere. Even the hour-long wait for our table feels enjoyable as we relax around the fire pit with our favorite drinks--it makes the time fly by. The food is consistently excellent, and we highly recommend this spot. Don't miss the Oreo bread pudding for dessert--it's a family favorite and the perfect way to end the meal!

Yelp
First off, I like that they have a nice outdoor patio so it's perfect meals after a day at the beach, and they have quite an offering for lunches. When I come across a good looking menu, I always find it hard to pick one thing I want to eat. Thankfully I had my sister there with me who generally has the same taste in food, so we were able to share the two items that we were both eyeing. 1) Seafood Cioppino scallops, clams. mussels, prawns, fresh fish, roasted tomato-herb broth, bread & butter (34) 2) Sesame Seared Ahi field greens, soba noodles, sashimi-grade ahi, roasted peanuts, sweet peppers, radishes, pickled ginger, honey-soy ginger dressing (25) The seared ahi salad is one of my favorites and the ahi tuna is so fresh. The combination is honestly one of the best I've had. The seafood cioppino was also delicious and they were very generous with the cioppino. None of the seafood was overcooked and the sauce was perfect. The portions were generous, and the staff here was very nice and even offered to split the dishes into two portions when they overheard that we were sharing. This is one of my gotos whenever I'm in the area, so if you haven't tried it yet, you ought to.

Yelp

Yelp
My family and I REALLY wanted to celebrate our aunts birthday at the Hideout since we have enjoyed this place in the past. But when calling to place a reservation, we were told they couldn't hold one for us unless it was 7 people, and we only were 6. We were 1 person off and they wouldn't allow us to make a reservation. Instead we were told we could just walk in and get whatever table is available and whatever server is available at that time. Not good enough. I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, and wanted a server that would accommodate us and make the celebration meaningful. I ALWAYS pay a very generous tip to servers since they are what make dinners out the most enjoyable. I was a server for years so I appreciate good customer service and I know what goes into making a night out meaningful for paying clients. We really only wanted our night to be perfect. That didn't matter to them, they told me that was their policy and even doubled down when I spoke to a manager. I go to many restaurants and can list a few in the area that DO take reservations and WILL make birthdays a fun event. Clearly this place doesn't. Unless you come with at least 7 people. All other parties are forced to accept whatever walk-in accommodations are available. I am really disappointed because like I said, I enjoyed the food here. But not now. The manager was rude and obnoxious. No wonder this place has the bad reviews it does. We really wanted to give them business but I guess if you're not a party of 7, they won't make a reservation even when you're celebrating a special evening with friends and family. Go elsewhere. And I hope the owner reads this. You have a really stupid reservation policy. And the manager on duty should have understood that even a party of 6 is worth reserving a table for. We would have spent over $600 minimum. EASILY. Which I was happy and excited to pay for, since we wanted the night to be special for our aunt. Thats why the reservation was so important to us. This place clearly does not understand that. Accommodate everyone that wants to come to your restaurant. You are literally sending away business and having your staff double down when patrons call to give feedback. Bad service all around. Never. Ever. Again. I feel like Julia Robert's in Pretty Woman... "Do you work off commission?" "Big mistake. HUGE!"

Melissa P.

Yelp
Great modern indoor/outdoor vibes at this place with attentive and courteous service despite its popularity. Don't be detereed by the parking as there are additionsl lots in the back. We were seated surprisingly quickly with a brief wait for a party of 4 on a Friday night. The Spicy Hibiscus Margarita and Bourbon Bramble, Shirley Temple and Strawberry Lemonade arrived efficiently and were a great warm up to dinner. We started with Ahi Poke Tower, Truffle Fries and Smoked Gouda Macaroni and Cheese with Bacon. The Ahi was generous and perfectly presented with cubes of Ahi delicately balance among sliced beets, and cucumber which paired amazingly well. The accompanying fried wontons were a delicious treat. The mac and cheese was ooooh so comforting and the smoked gouda made it truly stand out. We had the Roasted Beet Salad, Iceberg Wedge with Spicy Candied Bacon, Chicken Pesto Alfredo and Half Herb Roasted Chicken with apricot ginger glaze. The Beet Salad was slightly disappointing as the beet pieces were had to find in the overly dressed salad! The spicy candied bacon was a standout in the Wedge, definitely made the dish. The chicken was slightly dry bit the apricot ginger glaze was deliciously smoked and flavorful, making the dish.

Yelp
The Hideout is a hidden gem! Literally eating in a home transformed into a restaurant. It really is the definition of homey vibes. Salad was a large portion (next time I might ask for extra dressing), my fave was the ahi tuna app - won ton chips are delicious. Great flavors and friendly staff and they are efficient and work hard. You def feel like this is a "local" type of spot. Will definitely come again.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
Delicious and dog friendly patio! Came on a weekday and we're seated right away. My dog is a barker and the waitress would walk slowly to our table to avoid the barks which I appreciate. I try my hardest to control my dog but it's nice when the amazing staff has fun with him as well. The food was delicious and tasted really fresh. The chicken wasn't necessary to add to my salad because I was so full after eating some fries. Would recommend sitting outside on a nice day! The weather was great and the seating comfortable.

M R.

Yelp
Let me start by saying we love this restaurant. The food is good, the service is great and the people are very nice. That said about three months ago I got food poisoning from eating their cioppino. I called the restaurant and the kitchen person I spoke to said they would check the seafood. This week a friend of mine also got food poisoning from the restaurant, but didn't have seafood. While we may go back to the restaurant, when I called the manager, he said there was nothing much he could do. My friend isn't going back. The manager said they had the cleanest restaurant and kitchen you'll find. While I agree that it is clean, the problem is either with the food inspection or hand washing. Either way I wish he had been more helpful. My real purpose in posting this is that I'd like to hear if anyone else has gotten food poisoning at the restaurant.

Yelp
Updated review: The structure looks awesome after the big fire in 2019. Ordered the Hideout Burger (bacon is pressed into the meat patty). It came with all the trimmings. Also tried the house-made chips. Dang crispy but should have order the fries instead. Service is efficient and spot on and very attentive. Dinner service is a bit noisy. I was seated near the bar area. I should have waited for an outside table. Just a bit quieter. This is my favorite "locals" place.

Maricarmen C.

Yelp
Been here a couple times and have always had a good experience. Most recently, we went and waited about 15-20 minutes for a table for two. We were sat outside, which is usually lovely but it just so happened to be extremely cold. Not even the heater helped too much. The service was good, our server was very helpful. Our food did take a bit longer than usual to come out. I tried their Caesar salad, Mac & cheese, and their chipotle pork quesadilla. Everything was delicious! The portions are also pretty good, and perfect to share. Parking can be a bit of a hassle to find when it's busy. I definitely recommend this place!

tom B.

Yelp
Hideout, Aptos My first time and it was great. Monday, Labor Day, and after a feasting weekend we just all wanted salads. Drinks: Rose was nice, Gin Paloma was flavorful. The Mule was ok; couldn't taste the ginger beer. Salads were super. Shrimp Louis was very generous and yummy. Caesar salad with steak also generous. Steak very tasty and plentiful. House salad with chicken also good. My wedge was great-the candied bacon was a nice touch. Didn't seem like much blue cheese flavor from the crumbles or dressing. Corrolitos salad also had the generous steak. Yummy. I want to go back and try more stuff like the burger or Reuben sandwich.

Bob M.

Yelp
Originally I gave a good review for the food, service & atmosphere 4 out of 5. However I found the Final Bill somewhat misleading. The service charge, then the bill, optional additional tip, a space then total. I didn't realize that the service charge (tip) was already in the bill. So I added the two together drawing a line through the additional tip, for the Final total. Thus the bill would have a double service charge (40%). I waited for the charge to clear online but when it did the 2nd service charge was not added. Completely grateful for Hide Out for not adding the 2nd service charge. Thanks very much

Glen N.

Yelp
I think it got its name from our server, who would serve me an iced tea and then go hideout, so I couldn't ask him for sugar until he came back with my salad. Interesting menu. The onion rings and shoestring fries were good, but the lackluster caesar was dry. I got suckered into the Cuban. Looking back at reviews now, I see most people enjoyed their Cuban more than Lucille Ball, but I did not like mine. It was on normal bread and it didn't seem pressed- the ones I've had in the past were more panini-like- and it was dry and bland. If this was a Cuban, it was a Mark Cuban.

Sam R.

Yelp
The staff is great. The food is outstanding. The portions are more than one would want, but will eat. The ambiance is good depending upon where you sit. Try to sit away from a speaker that is playing music.

Charleen R.

Yelp
The Hideout seems to fit the bill no matter my mood. Been there with friends, sat outside at a fire pit and shared some amazing cocktails. Sat inside at the bar for spaghetti and meatballs on a rainy day. Or at a small table with a girlfriend for salmon and risotto and good conversation. Good food, friendly staff, comfortable surroundings. Just the kind place I wanna keep coming back to again and again.

Rachelle M.

Yelp
The restaurant was packed! But we were seated right away outside, which was perfect for my young children. We ordered the fried artichoke hearts and the bruschetta as a appetizer! Both were delicious. My husband and I decided to share the fried chicken sandwich, it was good, but just different flavors with the dry rub versus a sauce. I love that it was tucked away and felt like we were in private seating. I will say I wasn't a big fan of the dogs that were sitting on the patio with us.

Mikey Y.

Yelp
Loved the food, enjoyed the chicken sandwich the most out of all of them. Had to try the new wings out throughly enjoyed them, even saw the owner Pete! Our Bartender was attentive but I forgot his name. Great restaurant and as always good food here. Always got football on as well, you're if trying to catch a game.

Chacha H.

Yelp
I don't live in the area, but I absolutely cannot wait to come back. Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, and friendly staff.

Bob P.

Yelp
Have been back many times in the last 7 years. Good food selection, always attentive service, great vibe. Pro tip: park in the back.

Dave C.

Yelp
Great restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. Dogs welcome outdoors. Good variety on menu. Reuben and Cuban sandwiches were very good. Wine list could use a better Chardonnay option. Lots of beer choices. We'd definitely go back.

Heidi H.

Yelp
We had a nice experience at The Hideout recently! We had lunch here President's Day with our 1 year old. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts for appetizers, and then the special, Brisket Sandwich, and the Corralitos Salad. The Briskey sandwich looked great but unfortunately there was just too much fat in the meat. It was too grease for my partner. We absolutely loved the Brussel Sprouts though, and I really enjoyed my salad as well. The atmosphere is great, our server was really friendly and the prices are aligned with what you'd expect in that area.

Billy B.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff. Pros: food, all great. Met the owners, super nice guys. Cons:nothing I can think of.

Nancy S.

Yelp
I have only been to the Hideout once since it reopened. Food was always good. Staff very pleasant Outside seating is great and plenty. Of tables inside.

Ryli C.

Yelp
I was in town for work and found this place to try. Very cool ambience - I was seated in the dining room but wished I had asked for outdoor seating. The waitress recommended the margarita which was delicious. She was nice and had good recommendations. I went with the king salmon risotto. Tasty but it came out almost too quick - I didn't have time to enjoy my cocktail! And it took a while towards the end to get my check. I felt forgotten in the corner at one point. But would try again if I ever am back in town!

Tia V.

Yelp
The Hideout is such a great spot! We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here last year. Everyone loved the food and staff was very accommodating and friendly. Most recently, we spent a few days in Aptos and knew we wanted to come back. We ended up coming twice. The Brussel sprouts appetizer is my absolute favorite. I ordered it as my entree the second time we came. They are cooked to perfection. Crispy and not greasy. The bacon pieces (which you can add for $3) make it a little savory. The Parmesan cheese shavings and balsamic glaze make it even better. The flavors blend so well together and I hope they never change it! My husband and I did end up trying a few other items that were also pretty good. The only item that I disliked was the pulled pork quesadilla appetizer. It was really soggy and mushy. Luckily they took it off our tab as I only ate a couple bites. They have a variety of food options without being overwhelming. My husband really likes their burgers. The staff is attentive and we never had to ask for water refills. They also allow dogs on the front patio which we loved being we had our pup with us. Such a cute spot and overall we love coming here. Next time we are in the area, we will come back for sure! It does get pretty crowded at times so you may have to wait.

Douglas M.

Yelp
I'm back at the beach.. Still really good stuff... Ordered: Smoked Gouda Mac (4 Stars) Fried Chicken Sandwich (4 Stars) Reuben (3 start) Until next time at the beach!

Damaris F.

Yelp
We came for the evening, just my friend and I with no reservations on a Friday. Great vibe as you walk up, limited parking. It was pretty packed and we put our name on the list for a table and then squeezed in at the bar to have a cocktail. Called within 25 minutes and seated outside. Huge fireplace outside that would be awesome for a larger group to have apps and cocktails so definitely ask when making reservations Service was good and food was standard. Atmosphere and cocktails were great!

Bobae N.

Yelp
Really cute place. Great ambience. Great food. Everything was delicious. Every bite was delicious all the way til the bread pudding for dessert. Great service

Steve P.

Yelp
Hidden gem! I have lunch here a couple of weeks ago with a friend. Friendly staff great options for sitting inside and outside, and my all he tuna salad was!

Michael P.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice and welcoming The bar staff greeted me right away but I asked what he recommended on menu he said The Cioppino right away. I said great I'm hungry. Took 45 mins and the bartender came over a couple times said should be only a few mins but was another 20 mins It finally came out with very little seafood basically a large bowl of tomato soup with little spices. 2 of the little necks were still closed and the Bartender noticed I was unhappy but ignored me rest of meal. I had to waive him down to pay for over price meal with no follow questions Always ask did you enjoy your meal

Robert S.

Yelp
Great food! Nice, clean place! Great bartender! There's no reason not to go. I had the chicken sandwich based on the bartender's recommendation and wasn't disappointed at all. The sandwich alone will bring me back. I ordered onion rings on the side, and they were, as I had hoped, beer-battered with sweet-tasting onions. If you're thinking about going, do it. You won't regret it.

Mary H.

Yelp
This place was AMAZING! While in the area we pulled off to search "good food near us" while sitting in Aptos. Obviously a fave amongst many due to reviews and seeing the place upon arrival. 20 min wait, many what seemed to be "locals" drinks flowing and food going. We were sat and waited on within the time given. Important to note I was traveling with two kids 6 and 7 as well as husband and son. Also important to note is that chicken strips and fries are always ordered EVERYWHERE WE GO and never finished. The boys ate ALL OF THEIR FOOD. My husband the short ribs, veggies and mashed and son a large well cooked and put together burger. They all enjoyed every bit! Me... chicken pesto Alfredo with blackened prawns upon my request added... THIS WAS THE BEST PASTA I HAVE EVER ATE!!! Deep fried artichoke hearts... I could have easily made myself sick eating these... they were sooooo good! We will be back! Even though this is a "drinkers" spot in my opinion it was still easily accommodating for the young ones as well!Price was moderate Food amazing Our waitress with the Alice in wonderland quote on her back calf, she was busy but attended to us just enough for my liking Atmosphere... busy but beautifully kept up Great little spot to try if in the area and we look forward to coming back!

Arturo C.

Yelp
Great experience and tasty food. Ate the Ruben and it hit the spot. Kids loved the kids menu and especially the fries

Melanie K.

Yelp
We stopped in for a couple apps and cocks before heading out on a little getaway. It was the perfect stop. Ended up getting a third app after ordering a second drink. They were mouth watering good and had the perfect amount of kick. The food was flavorful, fresh, warm, and everything about it was just right. The portions and prices are also worth every penny. The atmosphere was great with a good sized outdoor area. They had a little fire going in one section as well as standing heaters at each table. We were very comfortable even on a slightly chilly day. Katie, our server was awesome and attentive the whole time as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Derek R.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch while in the area and I will say I was very impressed. I was a little hesitant because it is a little on the pricey side for lunch but was well worth it. The parking wasn't bad. A little parking in front and more in back. The restaurant itself is very nice. Both indoor and outdoor dining. Outside also has umbrellas and heaters so you can dine out there pretty much most days. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Would give you enough time to decide without forgetting about you. Also drinks were refilled regularly. I ordered the special which was a meatball sandwich with fries. It was excellent. The bread was fantastic and meatballs and marinara were great. The fries were a little bit of a let down but I'm not a huge fan of shoestring fries. The wife got the chicken fettuccine and loved it. I had some and agreed. She killed it. A friend who came got the burger and said one of the best burgers she's had. All in all food was great staff was great and restaurant itself was great.

Jason S.

Yelp
This is a popular restaurant in the area. There is outdoor and indoor seating areas. We sat next to the fireplace which was a nice touch. The menu has a good variety of options. We enjoyed the Ahi appetizer, Club sandwich, cioppino, and the cheesecake for dessert. The food tasted fresh and delicious. The cheesecake was ok. The servers were very busy but we felt taken care of.

Sherry B.

Yelp
The food was really good. Husband has braised short ribs and I had chipotle shredded pork quesadilla. Customer service was amazing. There was always staff around constantly doing things. Great outside seating.

Tony A.

Yelp
Popped into this cool place after a bike ride up at Forest of Nisene Marks. We didn't get a chance to eat here. Just had a few drinks. But such a cool place, great patio. Can't wait to come back!

Olympia R.

Yelp
We were really looking forward to dinner here since we've never been disappointed. Last night was disappointing. Good items were the brussel sprouts and wings. The cheeseburger and New York strip were very bland. I used the left over blue cheese dip from the wings to add flavor. Probably won't be back for awhile.

Tsawa Povi S.

Yelp
Service was great, both at our table & the bar. Our server also gave us a comp'd sorbet for our bday. Food was good, portions are great. The brussel sprouts are delicious. Wings (buffalo & sweet chili) great! King salmon was cooked perfectly Short ribs were very juicy, tender & tasty Cesar salad with fried chicken was ok. Fried chicken was delicious. The margaritas were mid and I wouldn't get again. I wish they put more dressing on the salad and overall I think the presentation of the food could be improved upon. It doesn't look very appealing.

April G.

Yelp
More like a 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. Stopped by for a late lunch and we were seated right away in the dining room area. Service was quick and friendly. We started with some cocktails (Bourbon Bramble and Cucumber Mule) which were both tasty, well balanced, and reasonably priced. For food we ordered the fried artichoke hearts, ahi poke tower, pulled pork quesadilla, and BLTA sandwich. The ahi poke tower was delicious and I would come back to order this dish again. The chipotle sauce for the quesadilla was mayonnaise heavy and didn't really complement the dish. The lettuce for the BLTA was shredded iceberg which we thought was an odd choice. The fries were served at room temperature and lacked a distinct truffle flavor. The restaurant itself seemed newly renovated and had some nice art hanging on the walls. I would definitely visit again to try out other dishes.

Lisa M.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and watched college football. Great atmosphere, yummy food and excellent service! Can't wait for our next visit!

Michelle B.

Yelp
I went there tonight with my friends and while I was still eating and my friends were done they gave the check without me being being halfway done with my plate. We thought this was weird I felt a little rushed, and then shortly after they asked if I wanted a box and I said yes and they he said he can package it for me again I felt rushed and said okay. After they packaged it and came back, my friends and I kept talking and the waiter kicked us out saying if we can leave. We felt very uncomfortable since we haven't even been there for an hour and we were trying to have a fun time but the service of being kicked out left us with a very bad taste in our mouth and not wanting us to return. I felt rushed to eat my meal that wasn't even that good so overall very dissatisfied with the establishment.

Megan B.

Yelp
We LOVE the Hideout. For a while, this was my in-laws favorite spot when they moved here so we frequented often. This place is busy! So be sure to make a reservation or get there early to put your name in. Given how busy it is, be prepared to have difficulty parking as well-- the parking lot for the restaurant is small and street parking is usually your only option on Soquel. As long as you can get a table, service and food are both great. I tend to always go with whatever fish special is available and it never disappoints. The restaurant itself has a great style with great artwork hanging around, even a fireplace in one of the dining rooms. Definitely worth checking out!

Lizz H.

Yelp
Dinner and Cocktails. I love that! Bottom line: 5 STARS in all categories! Ambiance. Rainy cold day. Fireplace! Candles on every table. Soooo soothing! High ceilings yet low lighting. That right there gets a big High 5 from me. Modern. High windows low windows just the right amount of windows :). All kinds of different seating areas. Super nice bar as well as table seating and high top tables (in the bar area). This feels so cozy. TVs in the bar area which is really cool when football is on like right now :). However there is no sound. Which is perfect. Outside patio seating too which I am sure is very popular when the weather is better. However it is raining and there are people out on the covered/heated patio and they look like they are having a lot of fun. Awesome and tasteful art on the walls...everywhere! Customer service. Off the hook! Anyone who says customer service is not on point.... I would just have a hard time finding that credible. Having never been here before I called for specific parking questions and just to make sure they were open. The person answering could not have been more patient and kind. Once arriving the meet-and- greet woman was fantastic and more than accommodating to where we wanted to sit. Our lovely and sweet server made it a forgone conclusion that everyone at this eatery must be wonderful. If I have it right two long time local friends own this business. And one or the other is typically in the house. It shows and is reflected in customer service for sure. Wine Laughing! Anyone who knows me knows I have to have a good glass of wine with my food. Oh they have plenty of good wine by the glass and bottle. Check out the wine list. Beer menu too. I have photos. Food. Absolutely, indescribably delicious. Omg! 6 days of eating on vacay and all we wanted was some really good well made, like-at-home, comfort food. It was fabulous. Bucatini and meatballs. Looked pretty awesome and of course according to my cute dining partner... it too was hearty and flavorful! My Herb -roasted half chicken with an apricot ginger glaze...well let's put it like this... all that were left were bones :). Never mind I did not want mashed potatoes. Shoe string potatoes were graciously offered. The vegetables were cooked perfectly. They were steamed just for me because I do not like butter. And olive oil was brought to the table for me to add to them. Who does that anymore? Price point appropriate for the quality of food. My advice is try this place once and you will be back. I cannot believe I have waited this long to come here. Pro Tip: this place is packed! 530 p.m. fyi... Get here earlier rather than later :). Thank you to our efficient and very professional wait person...Dhyana! You all rock!

Yelp
Really an excellent spot. Delicious food great ambience good service. Great surroundings to the forest behind the restaurant is beautiful. I had a hideout burger that had blue cheese on it and was amazingly flavored. Prepared just perfectly. I added the provided pickles, red onions, a little lettuce and a tomato to it. And wow that was a burger. The fries are excellent as well. Got a side of blue cheese and enjoy the entire meal. Nice Hot food My wife had queso and chorizo with chips and it was amazing as well. A nice bit of bite as far as spice. Highly suggest that one too. We definitely will come back here when we're in Santa Cruz

Yelp
Been here more than once and it never disappoints. Tried the rueben and it was outstanding. The guests had the short-ribs and the mahi mahi special. All very good! Service was very good and the ambience was okay, we sat in the bar area. Got to watch the ballgames!
