The Hideout

I tried to give Dalva + The Hideout another chance. Asked the bartender for a drink that was “sweet no vodka” (because cocktails menus can be hard to tell sometimes) and he immediately gave sass and said “well we have a whole menu to look at right there.” Maybe the miscommunication was that I was meaning something from the menu and not something custom? But when I tried to clarify, he continued to be rude. I don’t get it—what is it about the bars at Dalva/Hideout that customer service is not valued?? I’ve already had an unpleasant experience at Dalva and documented it on Google (one of my few low reviews)…and then this? Literally go anywhere else on Valencia. The drinks are expensive at this bar and the bartenders (2 for 2 times now) have horrible attitudes.

Great cocktails! Go to the back bar and get the celery cocktail, just trust me on this. The back bar is a dark, classy cocktail bar; the front is a more typical affair. I usually end up in the back, where the lighting is super low. You can't even read the menus, but who cares! It has a cool ambiance. If it's too crowded, you can head upstairs, but the space up there is nowhere near as well put-together.

When not overpacked, this is a solid spot. Pretty good tap selection, and more interesting options in the back 'hideout' room if you're looking for something fancy. On the bigger nights though, the narrow entry way becomes a real pain -- working to get an order up to the bar and making way for the crowds coming & going.

Dalva is the epitome of a hipster bar in the Mission. When you arrive, head straight to the back for the ultimate inception (unfortunately minus Leo DiCaprio) - a bar within a bar! The Hideout serves up craft cocktails to your specifications in a cozy atmosphere. If you want to grab a seat on the couch, get here before it gets busy. This area can really only hold a few groups of people. Drinks take a while to craft so sit back and relax while the bartender makes you up something special. Great place for a quiet conversation and a nice drink with friends.

When you get to Dalva, head straight for the back and find the hidden bar within this bar, called the "Hideout." Here, you'll find dimly lit seats and a more exclusive bar with great handmade cocktails. I especially enjoyed the one I ordered, which came with a hand-chiseled block of ice. Also, the main room at Dalva has a larger bar and they project movies on the back wall.

Laid back place with great cocktails and a great beer selection -- one of the few places around that has both. There's always something campy and weird playing on the movie screen in the back. One of my go-tos for meeting friends for a quick drink pre- or post-dinner.

Very good for Sunday night karaoke. KJ Jose has it all. Staff is friendly and the crowd is a blast! Very good singer rotation. I always have a good time there. Come join the party! -Johnny

This is a nice lounge with a nice assortment of cocktails. The space is dark and intimate. There's even another lounge in the back. Great place to meet up with friends and try some fancy drinks.
