The 21 Best Hotels in New Orleans

"A complementary property to the neighboring National World War II Museum, The Higgins is hard to suss out at first. The building exterior has a stark, almost modern Gothic look, which gives way to an Art Deco and retro aesthetic inside. The lobby is huge, with a floor-to-ceiling mural looming over the reception area. Period chandeliers and tastefully arranged artifacts complete the look. Even if you're not fully transported back in time, you're aware of the serious respect the hotel gives to history." - Paul Oswell

The Higgins Hotel New Orleans, Curio Collection by Hilton

"What do you see when you arrive? A complementary property to the neighboring National World War II Museum, The Higgins is hard to suss out at first. The building exterior has a stark, almost modern Gothic look, which gives way to an Art Deco and retro aesthetic inside. The lobby is huge, with a floor-to-ceiling mural looming over the reception area. Period chandeliers and myriad tastefully arranged artifacts complete the look. Even if you're not fully transported back in time, you're very aware of the serious respect being paid. What's the backstory? The hotel is part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. In stride with the museum next door, designer Kay Lang conjured up a worthy tribute to wartime history and the generations that experienced it. How are the rooms themselves? Our King Room had a modern, standard-issue, 1940s-inspired look, all clean lines and military-grade tidiness, with royal blues and golds keeping up a pleasing, formal palate. Also featured: wartime-inspired artwork, including some delightfully kitschy posters in the bathroom, panoramic city views, a walk-in shower, and overall excellent toiletries and amenities. If you’re on the executive floor or are a high-enough member of Hilton Honors, you can take advantage of the lounge, which has a piano that once belonged to General Patton. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is free and fast. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Kilroy’s, the lobby bar, has period-appropriate music playing over the sports games on the TVs. The space is awash with wartime knick-knacks, including replica infantry helmets as lampshades. Next door is Cafe Normandie, a rustic French menu that includes some local Creole and Cajun classics. After-dinner digestifs are best taken at Rosie’s on the Roof, a bar that celebrates the women of the homefront—and offers great views of the CBD to boot. There’s also Provisions, a general store-come-cafe that serves hot drinks, pastries and casual snacks. And the service? The service is up to scratch; in fact, the staff is boot-camp efficient. When we visited, the high occupancy numbers and large event didn’t throw them one bit. Who's here? Lots of veterans. Expect an older crowd who are here to pay their respects and stoke memories of a bygone era. What about the neighborhood? The hotel fits perfectly well into the main complex of the WWII Museum. Visiting couldn’t be easier, especially with coordination between the properties. Bottom line: Why are we choosing the Higgins? Come for the nostalgic style, and to stay in one of the world's only museum hotels." - Paul Oswell

The Higgins Hotel is an absolute gem in New Orleans, showcasing stunning architecture that perfectly captures the city's historic charm. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by the hotel's elegant design and character that makes it feel authentically New Orleans. The staff here truly sets this property apart. Every team member I encountered was genuinely friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. Their warm hospitality added so much to the overall experience and made me feel welcomed throughout my visit. The hotel amenities are excellent and well-maintained. Everything from the common areas to the facilities shows attention to detail and quality that you'd expect from a Curio Collection property. However, there were a couple of areas that kept this from being a perfect five-star experience. The beds in my room were noticeably worn and could use updating. Comfort is so important for a good night's sleep, and these felt like they'd seen better days. Additionally, while the hotel restaurants offer quality food, the prices are quite steep, even by New Orleans standards, which might give some guests pause. Despite these minor issues, I would still recommend The Higgins Hotel for its beautiful setting, outstanding service, and prime location. With a few updates to the room furnishings, this could easily be a five-star property.

This hotel was beautifully themed to go with the museum. There was a military event going on and seeing all the personnel in their dress uniforms just added an extra sparkle. Everything seemed spotless-especially my room. Beds were comfortable. The food and service at Rosie’s On The Roof was great and the crab beignets were very tasty. Highly recommend.

Stylish, Spacious, and Steps from History – A Fantastic Stay at the Higgins Hotel The Higgins Hotel in New Orleans is an absolute gem — from the moment you walk in, the stunning Art Deco design sets the tone for a classy, comfortable stay. It’s perfectly located just across the street from the WWII Museum, making it an ideal home base for exploring the area. The lobby bar is sleek and inviting, but the real standout is the rooftop bar — easily one of the most spacious I’ve ever been to. Gorgeous views, plenty of room to relax, and a vibe that’s both upscale and welcoming. The hotel was spotless throughout, and the service was top-notch — attentive without being overbearing. Even the elevators, while a bit on the slower side, seem perfectly paced for the older crowd the hotel caters to. Honestly, it just added to the laid-back charm. Whether you’re in town for history, food, or just a stylish place to unwind, the Higgins checks all the boxes. Can’t wait to stay again!

The Higgins hotel was an absolute pleasure to stay in. The staff was wonderful, professional, and helpful. Zane and John at the reception desk helped us out with some issues that we had when we first arrived. I have to give special thanks to Terrence at the concierge desk. He was so knowledgeable so friendly. He was just incredible offering us where to go, what to do. He even found umbrellas for us because of the sudden thunderstorms in the area. Definitely would come back here!! If I could give more than five stars to the hotel and especially the staff I would.

When we dropped off our bags in the morning before our room was ready, the front desk associate was welcoming and helpful. When we returned, check-in was quick and trouble-free.||We had a beautiful and spacious corner room with tall windows, offering great views of the WWII Museum and the downtown area. We appreciated having two comfortable chairs (one very nice upholstered chair, and another chair at the desk). The bathroom was enormous, with a wide sink counter plus mirror, a second counter plus mirror with a hassock, a very roomy shower stall, a separate tub, and a toilet in its own space behind its own door. We really liked this layout. Everything was very clean.||Though the hotel seemed busy, our room was very quiet; the only noise came from the streets outside. Climate control worked well, and was essentially silent. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. We slept very well. Excellent housekeeping service, no issues. ||Breakfast at The Cafe Normandie in the hotel was delicious, and our server was very nice. We received our order quickly, which let us get on with our day at the WWII Museum.||To save time at lunch, we grabbed ready-to-eat items from the cooler in the Provisions store in the hotel, so we could get back to the museum quickly. We really appreciated having this option.||Excellent stay, strongly recommended.

For all the wonderful physical attributes of this hotel, Mary and I agree that the staff need to be praised with a truckload of superlatives. In particular| the concierge , Terrence, was so helpful and a real treat to work with. Maria and Kem on morning wait staff of Cafe Normandie were a delight and we’re glad we followed their recommendations.| The hotel itself surpassed expectations. We were glad we chose the Higgins because our main purpose in visiting was to see the National WWII Museum which we did on consecutive days and the walk across the street convenience was nice (necessary?) for people of a certain age. The rooms were great and every time we came into the attractive lobby and dining areas I smiled. We will be staying at the Higgins again the next time we visit New Orleans.

Google
The Higgins Hotel is one of the best in the Hilton portfolio. This was my second stay, and once again, the service was impeccable—front desk, guest services, restaurant, banquet, and housekeeping were all kind, professional, and attentive. Rooms are spacious and modern with very comfortable beds. The WWII/Art Deco design gives the hotel a unique charm. Great location near the CBD, Lower Garden District, and Arts District. Highly recommend!

Google
I LOVE this hotel. Not exactly a local but I visit NOLA often and if I have a choice of where to stay, this place is it. It’s not near the loud rambunctious streets of the Quarter but still close enough to all the action. Everything is so well appointed in a mix of Art Deco decor and WWII theme. The rooms are modern and clean. They have a great conference room for smaller meetings 10-20 people upstairs and their staff are very accommodating. Great location to WWII Museum, Lee circle and food. You cannot go wrong with this place, ESPECIALLY if you are a history buff.

Yelp
I did not stay here but my Plus 1 had a sales meeting and I got to visit the lobby and bar area. This is the official World War II Museum hotel and patriotism is on full display. When I visited they were recognizing the women who served and supported during WW II. This was very close to me as my mother worked in a factory that manufactured ammunition and my father and uncles also served in the European and Pacific campaigns. The entrance and lobby and grandiose and reminded me of a 1940s movie. If you are visiting New Orleans and are a history buff spend the $32 bucks and tour the museum then visit the Higgens, have a cocktail, and salute the veterans who served and sacrificed for our freedom. Pro tip: I heard they have a really cool rooftop bar.

Yelp
Hands down The Higgins Hotel is one of my favorite hotels in New Orleans and is one I recommend to my friends and family every time I've been asked for a place to stay. This hotel is the official World War II Museum and hosts artifact and memorabilia. Upon walking in the grandioso of the lobby is strong and alluring. I've always felt like this hotel derives inspiration from The Great Gatsby era. The waiting area on the first floor features these epic stainless steel chairs that mimic boats and are so freaking cool. The attention to detail throughout the hotel space is impressive. I've had the chance to stay from a two queen room, a king suite, and the penthouse and each room is so well curated and thought out. Hotel beds here are so plush and the air conditioning gets super super cold. The perfect combo for a good nights sleep. If you're super sensitive to light just know the blackout curtains here work and you'll be setup for success!

Yelp
The Higgins is a Hilton boutique hotel located about a mile from the French Quarter, making it about a 20 min walk. It's also the official hotel of the World War II museum, which is located right next to it. Very cool! Hotel stay was pleasant. It's pretty new and modern and only about 2 years old. There's a coffee shop/cafe right downstairs, which is convenient for grab n go pastries and coffee. Room was comfortable with a super plush bed and strong water pressure. They give you two complimentary water bottles too along with coffee and tea. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at The Higgins Hotel again if I'm ever back in New Orleans.

Yelp
Great stay. Pros - Great staff. They work hard to accommodate needs. I really enjoyed the staff especially at the front desk, cafe normandie, and the rooftop. Three eateries. I concur with others the smash burgers were good. Lovely styled room. Love the bath. Love the shower. Loved the quietness of room. I never heard my neighbors. Bed was firm. Water provided in the front. 1 mile downward walk to the French Quarter. Allowed me to check out late. Cons - I had to call twice in the morning because requested items never came. Only black and chamomile tea provided in room. I think all hotels should have a green tea option. They did but that was for purchase only. The eateries were okay. No bath products (only shower). It's a shame to have such a nice bath with no bath products. Room cleaned once in my 5 day stay. Lady knew very little English so it made it hard communicating needs when I did see her in the hallway. I was allergic to something and my sneezing deteriorated during stay. May want to check vents.

Yelp
Nice hotel and staff. The biggest issue is the bed. Wow. Talk about used. Was like lying in a hole. Not comfortable. The facility needs to consider rotating the mattress or replacing them.
google avatar

Kera W.

Yelp
This hotel was under resourced. I have never driven up to a hotel and there were no bell boys to help you with your bags. Also, the people who cleaned the room were rude. If you were in your room when they came by, they said they couldn't promise that they would clean it. Experience I will never forget . . . And experience I never want to have again.
google avatar

Shelley M.

Yelp
It's a nice hotel within walking distance to everything or you can Uber. The hotel has multiple restaurants located inside. The room was clean. Also the food was good. Service was good throughout my stay. I enjoyed my stay here. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Love this hotel! A couple of hiccups but a great experience. My room was beautiful, I loved the shower and large space. Bed was pretty comfortable, but not as good as home of course. Everyone at the front desk but especially John, we're fabulous kind and helpful. I had water delivered to my room with the maid service almost every day and they provided so many toiletries and I loved the towels. Hotel offered a few restaurants with pricey but a variety of choices. My hiccups were the water does take forever to warm up in the shower. The maid did more of a "dusting" and the duvet on my bed was covered in a gritty service. But otherwise, everything here was a solid experience. I would never stay in the heart of the city, and would be happy to return here.

Yelp
This is a really nice hotel, walking distance or a short ride to a lot of things to see and do. Room was nice, clean, window views are mixed depending on where the room is I guess. There is a mini fridge which I really liked, and a nice little cafe/store got to go items and tchotchkes. I really liked the free entry to a portion of the WWII museum. I could have spent even longer in just the free area, but there's a discount for full access tix.

Yelp
The Higgins Hotel is the "Official Hotel of The National WWII Museum" and is also directly across from the National World War II Museum so that makes this a VERY convenient place to stay if you want to visit the museum. The Higgins Hotel is located in the Warehouse District of New Orleans which also makes it near many other major New Orleans attractions and it is only about 1 mile from the French Quarter. The Higgins Hotel is named in honor of Andrew Higgins who designed and manufactured over 20,000 boats in New Orleans that were used during all the major amphibious assaults during World War II. The Higgins Hotel has 230 guest rooms and suites while the second floor conference center has over 18,000 square feet of meeting and event space. This is one of the newest and nicest hotels and conference centers in the New Orleans area so if you are looking for meeting space or just hotel space this is a really nice and new venue to consider. The Higgins Hotel also has a really great rooftop bar, Rosie's On The Roof, which has some of the best views of any of the current rooftop bars in the city. They also have really upgraded their food here and now have their downstairs restaurants working along with a much improved food at Rosie's On The Roof. Overall this is a great spot to check out even if you are a local and not staying at the hotel the beautiful spaces, great food and great views are worth a visit. My video review of The Higgins Hotel is here: https://youtu.be/145icIDlgcQ

Yelp
I'm very disappointed in the Higgins hotel and in Hilton overall. After booking two nights almost a year out for the Taylor Swift concert in October 2024, at the highway robbery rate of $760 per night for a basic 2 queen room, I needed to cancel. The first time I called, the gentleman in reservations assured me that although my rate was showing as non-refundable, he was sure that we would be able to get my deposit of $760 back. He wasn't able to locate the hotel manager, Daniel Rhodes, so he asked me to call back. When I called back I was placed on a lengthy hold and informed in no uncertain terms that there was nothing that could be done. If I cancelled, I would not be able to recoup my deposit. I was told that i could transfer the reservation to someone else with no fee. I tried to find someone to take over the reservation, but if you know anything about the eras tour ticket situation, you know it's rife with scammers, so no one was willing to take my reservation, even at a discount, I.e. a loss for me. I finally decided to just cancel the reservation, which took a couple of unsatisfying exchanges with Hilton reservations and finally waiting on hold for over an hour. If I search for a room for the nights that I had booked now, the same day that i cancelled, Higgins shows sold out, save an $1800 per night suite. This tells me that Hilton had no problems reselling my reservation at the same, if not higher rate than I paid immediately. They probably had a wait list. If this was a small business we'd call that a shady business practice. As a corporation the size of Hilton, I'd call it criminal. Even if they couldn't offer a refund, they could offer an equivalent amount of honors points, or the opportunity to transfer the reservation to another date or property. I've been a loyal Hilton customer for life. No more. I'll look at any other property before considering a Hilton brand in the future.

Yelp
This hotel is wonderful if you love history. Located alongside the WWII history museum, this hotel is a beautiful extension of the history. On my last visit, I met one of the remaining Code Talkers in the lobby. Speaking with him was an amazing experience. This may sound like a review of the museum, but staying in this hotel is worth it if you are a WWII buff. It is modern, clean, and has a great staff.

Yelp
I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel when in New Orleans for a family wedding. My check in was early and I was was upgraded. It was a very nice suite on the 8th floor. The view wasn't much but it's the WW 2 Museum on one side and converted warehouses on the other side. The decor of the hotel clearly related to the history of the Second World War and every room has photos that relate to some aspects. My suite was very clean, well maintained and had plenty of convenient outlets for charging your devices. The bathrooms were great, really clean and very modern, large walk in showers and separate toilet area. Water pressure very good, nice amenities, good quality towels. Two TV's, one in sitting room and another in the bedroom. Two small refrigerators and a coffeemaker with teas and coffees. The bar on the roof was really nice but being from the Northwest, the outside 83 temperature and humidity weren't great for me. The bar off the lobby was very nice, lots of seating areas, tables etc, plus the bartenders were very good. I ate one breakfast and one brunch in the hotel and I have to say, probably some of the nicest food I've had in a hotel. The prices were pretty reasonable also. The staff were also very accommodating in giving me a late checkout which was appreciated as I had a later flight home. I also noticed that they had security people making their rounds on each floor at night. You also had to use your virtual key or card in the elevator to get to your room. I'm really happy that I stayed here.

Yelp
Had a great experience at the Higgins in July of 2024. They were hosting the WWII vets and treated them like the heroes they are. The hotel was very clean and was also treated very nicely. The exercise room was very nice, need to fix the peloton bike though. Two of the hotel staff bar tenders, Dean at Kilroy's and Miss April in Rosie's were the greatest. Great stories and made us feel right at home. Two of the best I've been around!

Yelp
This review is more about the fabulous Normandie restaurant! 5 stars at a decent price. (not cheap but worth every dollar) Wonderful hostess and waitress. Both were so professional and courteous. We had 3 people in our party, ater an assortment of breakfasts that delighted us so much that we went back for lunch! Burger was outstanding and all the other plates were expertly prepared. A must to go to before and after the WW2 museum.

Johnette Z.

Yelp
Bed and linens soooo comfy. Staff very kind and friendly. Location ideal as across the street from WWII Museum! Plus a great little pizza place a few blocks down the street. Very pleased.

Yelp
If you're an art deco fan, this hotel was made for you. I can't tell you how well executed the architecture and decor was at this hotel, from the rugs in the lobby bar area (that I tried to look for online to purchase) to the lights, mirror and bed frame designs in the room. This hotel has such an artful vibe, they really didn't scrounge on any of the details. The service was friendly, we didn't require much and the room was clean. We also came in July so we got our room for a steal. Fortunately, our neighbors were pretty quiet and we didn't have to deal with any noise. The location was perfect for us, you're not really in the thick of it and we could walk down to the lower garden district for a good brunch and shopping as well as back home from a late night in the marigny. We did take advantage of one rainy day and went to the museum next door which exceeded my expectations. I'm not much for museums but it definitely killed an hour or two. Highly recommend and hope to be able to stay here again soon.

Yelp
I just called to asked if I needed a reservation to the Rosie's on the Roof Bar and the receptionist stated" UNFORTUNATED THE LINES ARE BUSY AND CAN OU HOLD", and just placed the call on hold without me responding. just RUDE.

Yelp
A Four Star hotel?? We paid $1200 for two nights for a luxury suite , and this is what we got: Upon arrival, there was no bellman, so we had to schlep our own bags to the room. There was no valet, so we had to park AND retrieve our own car from the garage. No concierge, so no help with restos or directions No mini bar We asked for a room with a terrace, and our terrace was about four feet wide and faced a five foot high concrete wall (see picture) We did not get housekeeping service (when we left our room for the day, the housekeeping staff was servicing the room right next door. I thought "perfect timing".. wrong) No turn down service either. The ice machine on our floor was broken, as was the lamp on one side of the bed Upsides: Great shower, small fridge in room, friendly staff Do not recommend! Back to Windsor Court for us!
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Overall, a relatively pretty hotel. The problems include no valet, parking, electronic key did not work to be worked out room, and no resolution to that was offered. They simply stated "they'd get it checked, and repaired..". I stayed in the special suite, two bedroom, king size. TVs do not offer movies nor streaming services.

Yelp
BLACK PEOPLE SERVED IN THE MILITARY TOO! You literally had to do a Dora the Explorer to find photos of black military members! Or black civilians as well! It was very disheartening as a veteran. Yeah... It hurt. Vulnerably it hurt. Looks like another reminder that we don't belong to this country. Yeah that really hurt. Well it's super clean. The staff are super nice. The restaurant has the best Beignets I've tasted this far. Waste your time if you want going to Cafe Du Monde... This place is killing what they try and claim to be a beignet. Actually those beignets by themselves are 5 stars! All in all nice hotel but that ever so clear reminder that we're not a part of American military history... I won't be returning.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Beautiful Hotel we had a wonderful stay right across from World War II museum. The restaurant and fast food was delicious. In a nice area.

Yelp
Trip was specifically to visit the WWII Museum and this is the place. Directly across the street from the entrance. Hotel is themed WWII. Front desk staff friendly and professional. Hotel is lovely. Rooms are large and comfortable by metropolitan standards. Bathroom is spacious and well appointed. Shower is great. Parking is next door in museum parking garage but not connected to hotel. Park in garage, ride elevator down and out a doorway, walk 10 feet to a ramp into hotel. No bellhop or doorman. But it's easy. Lobby bar only open Thursday-Saturday. Main restaurant Normandie only breakfast and lunch. Coffee bar closes at 3. Rosie's rooftop bar and casual restaurant only dinner choice in hotel but bar food was good. Many great spots to eat in two block radius. Would consider this a top notch value if your coming to Nola to see museum and close to the Quarter without the noise.

Yelp
An awesome property, well-managed and sure-footed in how they take care of their guests. As someone who travels on business a lot, I know a good hotel when I see it. And this place runs like a Swiss watch. First, it's immaculately clean, which means that the housekeeping staff knows its business. The rooms are well appointed. The front desk is efficient. The restaurant downstairs is very good, while the rooftop bar provides a terrific place to have a cocktail and enjoy the skyline. Try the wings, too. The decor is tied to the World War II Museum, with all kinds of patriotic themes, which is cool. The only caveat I have is for those wanting to be closer to the French Quarter. It's a bit of a slog. However, given the noise and chaos of the French Quarter on a given weekend night, it might not be such a bad thing after all. So good job, Higgins, for giving us a memorable weekend.

Yelp
When we came to NOLA, we used Yelp to select our hotel. I would come back to the Higgins Hotel again. 1) Front desk staff very friendly and efficient. 2) Restaurant has an excellent menu. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was top notch. 3) Our rooms were spotless and everything you would want at Hilton.

Yelp
It's a new hotel built about three years ago. Overall it's good. Staff members are friendly and respectful. It does take a few minutes before the hot water reach certain temperature in the shower.

Yelp
Happy 4th Beautiful People . Hubby and I closed out our Essence weekend on the rooftop watching fireworks. We are Regulars. I had a small suite gathering here for my Hubby birthday last year . It was simply fun , peaceful and amazing. We all was on the Rooftop as a extension of his birthday gathering . Food was succulent and drinks was on point. Service was amazing as always.

Yelp
Very overrated - Came to NOLA to enjoy their best restaurants. I wasn't impressed with the food or service. My wife had the pork chop that was overcooked. BTW, my wife is not a picky eater. I had the fresh tuna, turtle soup and the shrimp appetizer. The turtle soup was not impressive. The shrimp had a lovely sauce but the shrimp were small and nothing special. The tuna was great - really fresh. They rush our meal after we asked them to pace it so we could have a few cocktails then wine with dinner. The management handled it well but the foods and service was not what we expected. Much better meal at Clancy albeit it's a bit further out of FQ.

Yelp
From what I have experienced thus far I am impressed. This hotel has a story that you can clearly tell from just taking a walk through 1st floor. Soooooo much space. Very beautifully laid out. I have not had chance to stay in rooms yet but they look pretty legit with some great views offered. Will update review later once I book a hotel at some point as they do offer low and competitive rates

Yelp
Very very nice hotel. It was well worth the price and the stay. The front desk staff was great upon entry. They explained everything to us including parking and daily credits thoroughly. They definitely understood the assignment there was live music in the bar area in the evenings. The room was absolutely gorgeous. You can tell that they take pride in the upkeep of this hotel. It was so dang clean and spacious. No leftover hair from the last guest. Lol it was very nice. Huge walk in multi person shower! Lots of plugs and outlets to charge up your devices. And not to mention... this was a standard king room! Not even a suite. I really enjoyed my stay. My only complaint was how far of a walk it was to the action. But then again remembering that this is a WWII veteran hotel I understood. So I laced up my walking shoes and made the hike There were May nice places to eat along the way as well. Thanks again for the hospitality Hilton

Yelp
Great experience staying here. I especially appreciated the professionalism and amazing service provided by the front desk staff member John. He made sure to go above and beyond to make sure my stay here was a truly great one.

Yelp
Do not stay here unless you want to be robbed!!! I stayed at the Higgins Hotel this past weekend and had several items stolen from my hotel room. A designer purse, wallet, and 2 pairs of AirPods were stolen directly from my room- all of which were buried deep in our bags. Within hours, there were charges in another state on multiple of the cards in the wallet. Again, do not stay here unless you want to be robbed!!

Yelp
We stayed three nights this week. Very nice hotel. The only difficulty is the check-in process. It is not at all obvious where to pull up to unload your bags. There is a street pull up but it's hard to see. No luggage carts, you must request a bellman. There was only one front desk clerk so there was a line. Once we got checked in, everything was easier. The room is very nice. Excellent bedding and bathroom/shower. Quiet in the room. Great WW2 theme throughout. The museum is next door and it's amazing. Fast housekeeping service upon request. Good restaurants, great rooftop bar

Yelp
Greetings, This review is based off my most recent visit, not any visits before, when I had a lovely time. During my visit to the Hilton Curio in July, one of the hottest months between both states of Texas and LA, the air condition was not working in my room. I informed staff twice and by the second time I was offered a fan or to relocate. The second time I had to contact them was at 2:51 am when I was so uncomfortable with the humidity in the room it became unbearable. I opted for the fan, because I did not want to move that time of the morning. The following day I was told staff would take care of it while I was out, I called back and was told by the manager Patricia Isidore that it was taken care of and it was not. After coming in from the heat and finding it NOT fixed I then agreed to change rooms. I got to that room and the refrigerator didn't work, luckily I had it in a canister with ice and I was still able to use it. I filled out a survey sent by the hotel, I thought it was anonymous. The same manager who I stated was so nonchalant, wrote me back and let me know that my accusation was unfair. She also went to say she would refund me for half a night, without fees or taxes in the amount of $79. I would have preferred a sincere apology instead, and the fact that my survey was handed over and the person then confronted me, was unacceptable. There is a plethora of hotels in the tourist city of New Orleans, with that being said I do not have to EVER give this hotel business again. I appreciate all my previous stays, and I hope someone else has a better experience, but stay away from the surveys.

Yelp
I just completed a five night stay at the Higgins, there were some minor problems with check in with the clerk over charging us for incidentals, seven nights instead of five, and we noticed additional charges appeared on our account the next day. That was not a big problem because I knew it could be reversed. My biggest concern was waking up every morning with irritated sinus and a weird feeling in my head. I cut the air down, still no relief. My friend was in the room across the hall she said her sinus were irritated too and that her allergies had kicked up and she wondered if there was mold in the vents. I eventually covered the vent with a towel on the last night and I got relief. I'm not sure what's going on, but I didn't like being sick in the head every morning. 7th floor vents.

Yelp
Cool hotel in the Warehouse District. We stayed here for a staycation one weekend night. Right when you walk in there's tons of seating areas, but most of the things were closed due to COVID. The Downstairs bar is closed and the little bistro is only open in the mornings/afternoons. Lots of unutilized spaces. Checking in was quick and easy. There is parking connected to the hotel in a parking garage for $40 overnight. Or you can just pay to park in the street. The King bedroom was pretty small for $195, but the bathroom was nice (weird thing to compliment I know, but I love my showers). Also, our "view" was a *GREAT* view of the roof with straight shot access viewing of the gym. If I was a tourist, that would suck! Rosie's on the Roof is here but the bar doesn't open until 5pm and they operate heavily on reservations only, so if you don't snag a reservation you're SOL. It had also rained so all the seats outside were soaking wet. Not sure I would return to stay the night here, but for those that want to go and do the WW2 Museum, this is a decent additional immersive experience.

Yelp
Excellent hotel! The rooms are luxurious and well maintained, the amenities are wonderful, and I very much enjoyed my stay here! It's pricey but worth every penny!

Yelp
Upon arrival to the hotel, I initially thought it looked like a typical lobby as I checked in. However, once I moved through the corridors and arrived in my room, I realized this was truly a special place. In a word, "stunning" is how I felt as I observed the architecture of the couches, bedding, and mirrors. The room had nice comforts like a refrigerator and coffee maker. I loved everything except for the view from my room. I was on the 3rd floor and had a view of a mid-level, interior rooftop. It was truly a terrible view. However, I didn't come to New Orleans to spend my time looking out the window. The rooftop view was spectacular. Additionally, I also was pleasantly surprised by the selections at the gift shop/cafe. The cashier was very pleasant and I didn't mind picking up extra items that were delicious (King Cake, kolache, and latte). The connection to the WWII Museum is of course what really set this hotel apart. I talked it up all weekend and would love to visit again.

Yelp
The hotel is one of the great ones. But avoid the restraint on the roof. The mixed drinks are very undersized and if you order tea. They bring a supermarket tea in a bottle and a glass. When I ordered shrimp and grits. the shrimp was unshelled and I had. pick a lot of shells out of the grits. And the shrimp was like eating Jerkey. To say the least the roof top restaurant was not on par with what is expected at a hotel as much as the Higgans.

Yelp
Nice hotel, love the WWII theming since it is across the street from the museum. It is clean, which is always expected from a Hilton property. Be warned, check in is at 4 and if you are a HHonors Diamond member you may not be able to check in early as per usual at other Hilton properties. However the front desk staff did give us free tickets to the museum. Overall a pleasant stay. 3 stars due to the price, it is honestly way overpriced for what you get. Half of the TV stations did not work and nothing is open past 10. So if you get hungry at night there isn't even a spot to grab a snack, waters, etc.

Yelp
Top ten reasons not to stay here: 1. bugs in the room (including in the bed) 2. poor heat, to the point it is uncomfortable in the lobby bar 3. incompetent, untrained staff who do not answer the phones and who are unwilling to provide you with the class of accommodation you paid for 4. "balconies" that are unusable (sitting in the chair enables you to look at the concrete wall, not the view) 5. slow service in the bars and restaurants 6. poor location relative to the French Quarter, restaurants, shopping, and other areas (e.g., the Garden District) 7. no extras, like shower caps or daily replenishment of water 8. frayed, dirty carpeting in the room 9. not located near trolleys or transit options other than cabs 10. long distances to the elevator and/or too few elevators In a nutshell: stay at the Westin!

Yelp
Lovely accommodations with an equally outstanding staff! Would stay again with no hesitation

Yelp
Nice location and amenities. Rooftop bar and gym are nice. Too tough dealing w cleaning crew to get them to clean room. Multiple asks should never be necessary. Bugs in room knocked stars off as well. Need an exterminator on floor 5. Nice breakfast

Yelp
Love this beautiful new hotel. The hotel is situated next to the WWII museum and takes its decor cue from it. Walking in, you are immediately immersed in the early 1940's. You'll feel like you're about to bump into Orson Wells, Howard Hughes, Ava Gardner and Katherine Hepburn. While there grab dinner at Cafe Normandy. I highly recommend the crispy Brussel sprouts. Afterward, head up to the bar, Rosie's. The views are stunning! There is only thing missing from this beautiful place: a 1940's big band playing all the standards of the era!

Yelp
We just finished a 6-night stay at the Higgins and enjoyed it. The hotel's location was perfect for us, away from the crowds of the Quarter but convenient to everywhere we were looking to be. The rooms and public areas still look new and definitely have an upscale vibe. There's just enough of the WWII and Art Deco-influenced design, without going overboard. A few pandemic-related service limitations remain, with no valet parking or room service and limited hours in the downstairs bar. Housekeeping is back to full-service and not just on request. Parking is in the WWII Museum garage at $32/night for hotel guests; while there's no direct hotel access, it's next door so still convenient. Rosie's on the Roof is a nice indoor/outdoor bar with food. It was closed a couple of times for private events but they'd open Kilroy's in the lobby if upstairs was closed for an event. Two service related quibbles. Service in the Provisions coffee/gift shop was pretty slow for morning coffee, though I'm assuming that's probably a staffing/training challenge for them. We saw the F&B manager step in to help a couple of days which helped move things along. The elevator situation was pretty awful while we were there: one of the three was out of service for five of our six days and a second was for three of the six - leaving one to service the whole hotel for three days of our stay. Mechanical problems happen, but I'd hope a hotel would have access to quicker elevator repairs. There also wasn't a word of apology or explanation from management. That was disappointing - I've gotten letters under the door at less upscale properties for much more minor inconveniences. Hopefully a one-off...we'll certainly be returning next time we're in New Orleans.

Yelp
The Hotel in New Orleans is remarkable. It has not been open for long, yet it is superb. The hotel is attached to the World War II museum. Every detail in the hotel is themed around WWII and the 40's. The restaurants and common areas really set the theme. On the tv are reruns of classic movies and the music playing on the surround sound is big-band-tastic. Why is the hotel named the Higgins? The Higgins plant/shipyard in NOLA produced a variety of naval equipment in World War II, including landing craft, Motor Torpedo Boats (PT Boats), torpedo tubes, gun turrets, and smoke generators. Over 20,000 vessels were produced during WWII. Andrew Jackson Higgins, the man Dwight D. Eisenhower once credited with winning World War II, is the man that made Normandy float into history...

Yelp
Very nice hotel directly across the street from the National World War II museum. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms and facilities were well kept and very nice. I normally don't stay at this high end of a Hilton we are more Embassy Suites type but this place made me feel welcome. Was there for a business conference and the breakfast they provided was too notch! I can only assume the made to order food was even better. Aside from breakfast the only food I ate was hot wings at the rooftop restaurant. All food was on point. They offer discounted admission to the museum if you want to go. I did not have time. Not too far from Bourbon street. You can walk if you don't mind an adventure. It's about 1.5 miles. There's also something called Blue Bike (just Google it) and you can ride an electric assist bike for real cheap. The Conchon Butcher is right down the street and if you need a place to work out Hour Blast is a half mile away.

Yelp
The last time I stayed at The Higgins Hotel was Feb 2020. However, I stayed a couple of days ago and it's still a nice hotel! The only thing I did not like is that room service was not provided as it was in 2020. The hotel was clean and the staff was nice ! I will recommend this hotel while visiting New Orleans !

Yelp
Excellent Hotel. We had a fantastic stay at the Higgins. The staff was fantastic, and front desk manager Patricia was extraordinary. Our room was super clean and king bed was comfortable. We will be back. Highly recommend. 5 stars.
