This is what I would call a hidden gem. We found this restaurant by a chance, for being located just a block away from the place we were staying in London during our holidays.
We stopped by mere curiosity, when passing by, to read the menu contents. Big was my surprise, when checking at the menu, that it contained a section for Mediterranean plates, and another section for Latin American food. Being from Peru, and my wife from Venezuela, I continued reading and found out many Ecuadorian and Peruvian dishes in the list. I was delighted to finding out native dishes of my home land (even though I am living overseas since 1990), however I was more surprised because the last dish in the list was from the Peruvian Amazon region, where I, and all my mother's family, are originally from. This plate is called "Patarashca de pescado" or Fish Patarashca, which is a regional delicacy, mostly known by Peruvians from that region only.
Personally, I am quite picky for trying Peruvian food overseas, because I know the difficulty of obtaining the ingredients, and also because I am a good cook and prepare them at home.
In essence, we ended up having breakfast a few times, as well as dinner there. We tried the Peruvian tamales, which were really delicious, as well as the Ecuadorian churrasco. The Lomo Saltado was, according to my wife, one of the best she ever tried, and she even enjoyed the alfajores as dessert. The coronation dish was the fish patarashca that Carol, the gently owner, prepared specially for me. It was superb. Made with fresh sea bass, and perfectly seasoned, it made me remember my childhood at Iquitos, Peru.
Besides all the food experience described above, the hosts (Carol and Anibal) are a delightful couple, very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone really interested in trying an excellent South American food.
