Went here for a Surprise V-day dinner this week. Wow, I was surprised!
Drinks: YUMMY, and AFFORDABLE- Had Orange-Spice Infused Bulleit Bourbon and it tasted like candy. I figure 7 bucks aint shabby. My fiance had a Plaid Pantry, I believe- many elements going all up in that drank! Spicy, tart, laced with sweet.
They have several infusions that vary daily or weekly. It's a little adventure each time you're there because they all sound yummy.
Food: Teetering on bar-style food, it was still very good for "Bar Food". We had some sweet potato fries as a starter. Large serving size, and decent flavors. Only gripe? The cheese placed on top was not melted all the way, so it blanketed the fries, making them stick to the cheese but the cheese wouldn't easily separate for eating.
If ordering anything with Caesar dressing, surprisingly, this place makes the real deal: Anchovy and raw egg are in the dressing, and my American taste buds weren't expecting that.
I dined on a garbanzo and pepper burger, with a greek salad. Feta-a-plenty is what I would deem that dish. I'm not complaining, either. The burger was a little greasy but perhaps it was from the pan frying, but the bun was the right amount of buttery-crispy and the salad tasted alive with flavors of lemon and oil.
Service: Friendly... which, I know I need to get past this but when I go to the east side, I usually don't expect much in this realm. However, our server was patient and very friendly while being laid back. I think he was covering the floor alone because our drinks could have been checked on a little sooner and the ordering process took a little while.
Atmosphere: No ridiculous "Down with the man" music ,blasting punk or anything else I try to avoid- instead, the live Bob Dylan record was playing. Dark, but still enough light to not squint across the table.
Big buck hunter? Sold.
