The Cavalier is one of our favorite getaways that we like to visit at least once a year to kick off the start of summer season. We love the historic elegance paired with modern updates that keep it fresh and fun. Our room was so nurturing with a very comfortable bed, the plushest robes, bright pillows and art work, a claw-foot tub and fresh-baked cookies left every evening. ||We dined in both The Hunt Club and Becca, both conveniently located in the building, and the food is excellent. (Do not miss the popovers served with dinner in Becca!) Drinks in the Raleigh Room before dinner has a throwback in time fee,l and a cocktail sitting in an Adirondack chair atop the hill or on a cozy couch right inside floor to ceiling open doors is the perfect way to end the night.||The Beach Club is a short walk down the hill and it feels like a country club. Chairs and towels are set up for you, there is food and drink service from The Deck Seagrill and Bar (shout out to Sophia who did not stop moving or smiling yesterday while keeping a very busy deck of guests satisfied!). Beach access is equally easy and the bath/locker rooms are well-appointed. ||The staff is impeccable. Very polite and accommodating from the valet service and bellhops, to the front desk, wait staff, bartenders and pool attendants. They all do their jobs as if they want to be there and work to ensure the guests are satisfied. We also appreciate all the behind the scenes staff that help keep the high standard. I would love to keep this gem to myself, but cannot help but rave about it.

I can start by saying I am pretty picky when it comes to hotel accommodations & I can confidently say the Cavalier is the best hotel I have ever had the pleasure to stay. Not only is the hotel itself stunning, but the property, amenities and staff were top tier. I’ve never experienced such a relaxing check in process. Our time spent at this hotel was heaven- we are already planning another weekend stay. If you know what’s good for you.. stay here!!!

The Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club isn't just a place to stay; it's a destination in itself, and my recent experience absolutely warrants a five-star review. From the moment you arrive, you're enveloped in a sense of timeless elegance and impeccable service. The hotel's history is palpable, with stunning architecture and beautifully maintained grounds that invite exploration. Every corner tells a story, and the meticulous attention to detail in the restoration is truly remarkable. My room was a sanctuary of comfort and luxury, with plush furnishings and breathtaking views. The amenities were top-notch, and I especially enjoyed spending time at the Beach Club. The private beach access is a huge plus, and the pools and surrounding areas offer a perfect blend of relaxation and sophistication. However, what truly elevated my stay were the dining experiences. Having looked into the hotel's restaurants beforehand, I was eager to try them, and they did not disappoint. The cuisine was exceptional, with fresh, locally sourced ingredients prepared with artistry and flair. The service in each restaurant was also outstanding, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made every meal memorable. Beyond the stunning setting and exceptional food, the staff throughout the entire hotel were genuinely warm, welcoming, and dedicated to ensuring a perfect stay. Whether it was the concierge assisting with local recommendations or the attentive service at the beach, every interaction was a pleasure. The Cavalier Hotel and Beach Club offers a truly exceptional and luxurious experience. It's a perfect blend of history, elegance, and modern amenities, making it an unforgettable getaway in Virginia Beach. I highly recommend it and can't wait to return!

We can’t recommend the Cavalier enough! This is truly an exceptional hotel in the Virginia Beach area. My husband and I stayed twice in May and both times we were checked in by Michelle Suminguit of the Front Desk. She is so amazing! We always felt that she truly care about creating a wonderful guest experience to every guest she interacts with, plus she constantly update us happenings and with things to do during our stay, which is definitely very helpful for us! Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Cavalier and we are always looking forward to our next trip out here!

My girlfriend and I booked a last minute trip here while in town to handle some rather grim family affairs. We knew the accommodations would be comforting but didn't anticipate how much the staff would brighten our stay. Every person, from the moment we stepped inside the hotel, made us feel at home... particularly Carlo and Paige! They were absolutely astounding - friendly, professional, attentive, and truly went out of their way to cater to our needs. I've stayed in my fair share of upscale resorts and hotels and I can say without hesitation this was the best customer service I've ever experienced. We hope to see them again on our next trip. Also the food was amazing - highly recommend their pastries and lattes for breakfast.

Google
A lovely location for a conference, venue, or simply a stay. While luxury does come at quite a cost, the restoration of the property is very nice and accommodating. The rooms, robes, and amenities are comfortable and clean. While there are no beachfront room options, the beach club access does a good job to compensate. The indoor heated pool and hot tub are also nice and accessible, however access to the saunas are strict and very limited, which was unfortunate and disappointing. The staff was friendly and pleasant as was our overall stay.

I can’t wait to come back!! I chose the Cavalier Hotel for our honeymoon, and it exceeded all my expectations from start to finish. The level of service we received was truly extraordinary. Jessita (I hope I’m spelling your name right) made sure everything was perfect, from helping me with our room upgrade to addressing any questions I had. She washed away all my worries and made us feel completely at ease. When we walked into our room, our jaws honestly dropped! It was pure perfection for our honeymoon — the rose petals, the drinks, and the swans made of towels were such thoughtful, beautiful touches that made it feel truly special. The room was stunning, and the team went above and beyond to make sure we felt valued and cared for. A huge thank you to Jessita and all the wonderful staff who made our honeymoon the best it could be. If I could rate this hotel 20 stars, I’d give it 40! We’re already looking forward to our next stay. Thank you for making our honeymoon a perfect and unforgettable experience!

Just want to thank Jessita for welcoming us to the Cavalier while we waited for our room. She was super friendly and showed us around the Raleigh Room, the loggia areas, the history room and the gift shop. It was a lovely first impression. We learned so much about the hotel from her. Loved that she continued to greet us with a warm smile whenever we saw her during our stay!

Yelp
We did not stay here but a group of went here to look around and to attend the distillery tour. They have their own distillery in the hotel. There is valet parking for you as you arrive. There was a door man that was very nice and informative. He told us about the hotel and the best way to walk around and see the decorations and the history. There is a lot of history with this hotel, including being taken over by the Navy in WWII as a training post. The place was beautiful and to our surprise- very busy. The downstairs Hunt Bar had no seats for anyone. So we went to the upstairs bar area. It was busy also but there were couches and seats. There was also a live band setting up for music later on that evening. My hope is that my wife and I can go and stay there next time and get the full experience.

Yelp
This hotel does NOT live up to whatever reputation it thinks it has. We were here for a family Christmas and checked in on the 23rd. There was ONE person checking people in on a holiday week. Valet was completely backed up and the dying/dead/sad poinsettias all over the public spaces was probably an omen. As someone who has worked in hospitality/hotels, I can honestly say that the last 24 hours have been one blunder after another. After the initial impression (not good) we checked in and got settled. We were dressed up and went to get a drink in the lobby bar. It was pretty much impossible with folks standing 3-4 deep and it was just too much. Too many people wanting the same thing at the same time. Reading the room it seemed like there were a lot of locals coming for an Instagrammable photo shoot. We left without drinks and decided to go to the bar inside of Beccas. We sat there and were completely ignored by the one overwhelmed bartender who was making drinks for the entire restaurant. Strike 3...but we are just getting started. Stay with me. We then decided that this just wasn't going to get any better so went back to the room and ordered room service as nobody had eaten. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. They also add on a 22% gratuity which they don't tell you about up front. Anyway, we ate, opened a bottle of bourbon already in the room and tried to make the best of it. I went back to my room and took a shower. The vents in the bathroom were filthy, the mirror over the vanity was delaminating and the windows were dirty enough to mar the view. The rooms are no nicer than any relatively new hotel in Virginia Beach. The bathrooms are nicer, I will give them that and bedding/towels are also in keeping with the price point. This morning I awoke to a room service person basically yelling in the hallway with a background of mower and leaf blowers at 9am on Christmas Eve. I ordered room service and it was barely lukewarm for $40. Bacon was from a bin no doubt. This is just in less than 24 hours. Way better options in VB. Don't believe the hype because that is all it is in my experience. Happy Holidays :(

Yelp
A couple of months ago I had to stay at the Cavalier Resort for a conference that was being held in the Marriott and on that trip I stayed at the Marriott. The service there was mediocre at best, mostly due to the poor attitude of many of the employees, from the desk to the Tulu restaurant. So, when I needed to come back for another conference this week, I opted to stay across the street at the Cavalier this time, even though my conference was in the Marriott. From the moment I checked in, service, experience, comfort, and the overall resort was TOP NOTCH!!! The whole experience was excellent! Here's an example: * The little things, like walking in with an old drink cup in my hand and the gentleman who opened the door asked me if it was trash and took it from me to dispose of. o When I needed to go across the street to get to the conference and it was raining, they drove me over in their golf cart. They also transported me and lots of my gear over on another occasion. * I wanted to check out very early (3AM) in the morning, so I asked the desk the night before if the valet would be available at that time and she not only said yes, they will, but she asked my room number to ensure my vehicle was out front waiting for me at 3AM - I came out and it was right out front at 3AM! * Status - They not only noticed my status at check-in and offered the options I get, but when it came to the free breakfast, the restaurant didn't charge me the $1.50 over $20 that I used, they comp'd it all. o They even delivered a bottle of wine to my room with a hand-written card to acknowledge my status I could go on and on... But everything was PERFECT! The place was clean... Attention to detail in common areas, my room, etc was taken into consideration and people like me who notice these things had a difficult time finding problems. The bed was comfy and the HVAC in the room was quiet. The shower's hot water was quick to come and the shower drained perfectly. One of the most important components with any business is the people... the help... the staff... the employees. The staff here were not only friendly, but sincerely helpful and caring. One even said "you're staying at The Cavalier, we've got it covered." Not only do I highly recommend this property... It's my only 2nd ever "6 star" property! I'm in September and have already stayed 116 nights at Marriott properties + 10 nights at Hilton properties + 15 nights at Hyatt... Something I do annually... I've even stayed at a 3 Michelin star place (The Inn) and this stay was in my top 5. Since I will continue to visit the VA Bch area for years to come, I'll be staying here each time!

Yelp
We only did tea time at the Cavalier Hotel, and it was a great time with friends! I highly recommend doing it while you're in the Virginia Beach area because all the little finger foods and pastries were delicious and they love to offer seasonal teas. Parking has to be done by valet, but as soon as you do valet parking, you enter the doors and the tea room is on the right. Reservation demands are very high, so reservations need to be made at least 2 weeks in advance for the time/date you want. Highly recommend coming here for Afternoon Tea!

Yelp
We went to see Santa! Their Santa was awesome. He looked like Santa and he sang and danced. They brought in Frosty the Snow man, Mrs. Clause, Elves, and Rudolph. The whole place was decorated beautifully. It was cold outside and they had s'mores, popcorn, hot chocolate. My kids had a great time. This hotels is beautiful and I love the colonial look.

Jodi D.

Yelp
They don't care about the locals. All they care about is making $$$. Had a horrible experience there 12/7/24 and no one, not even Lars the GM will call us back. Don't waste your time or money. Stay someplace where they care about you when you leave. I'm giving it one star, but that's only because there's no place for a -

Yelp
Great service, friendly staff, and the ambiance is great! Take a local ghost tour to learn more!

Dennis M.

Yelp
Top notch as always from arrival to departure. Champagne check in. Great valet and bellhop service. The pools and beach club are outstanding. We dined at the Hunt Room - excellent and a separate review. This is a historic gem in Virginia Beach and a very unique experience. Treat yourself sometime. Best on the ocean front.

Gregg H.

Yelp
This place is just stunning! A beautiful historical hotel that has been expertly preserved with a very classic elegance. The decor is plush and beautiful. I'll definitely look to them when I come back to town. It's across from the beach in a lovely neighborhood. A grand entryway greets you as you are met by a wonderful valet staff. The bourbon room below is very nice and offers tasting.

Natalie K.

Yelp
Patrice is the best bartender and makes the most incredible espresso martini's. I will come back again just to have another espresso martini from Patrice, keep doing what you're doing!

Mary A.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel 13 years ago and had a great visit and really enjoyed visiting again and seeing the renovations. The hotel is gorgeous. It is always wonderful to see the historic hotels thriving. It was great to see the hotel so busy. We had drinks in the Raleigh Room. The wine had a nice pour but we found the appetizers to be very small for the price. They had musicians playing in the corner which contributed to the ambiance. A wonderful visit!

Lori R.

Yelp
What a fabulous beautiful resort this is!! We spent two nights over the Christmas holiday weekend and couldn't have loved it more. The history is fascinating, the ambiance is delightful and the hard-working staff make it so enjoyable! Valet service was prompt when we arrived, and they even had a small box of cookies waiting for us in our car when we got it back two days later. Check-in was the only teeny disappointment. We arrived at 2pm, just in time for our Distillery tour & tasting (a must-do for bourbon lovers), so our room wasn't ready. She ran our card, got our phone number and we didn't hear a peep. Finally some time after 4pm, we went back and our room was ready and they processed us as if we had never checked in the first time. No big deal, just glad to get a room. And what a gorgeous, clean & comfortable room indeed. Room 213. Only catch was the view, which thankfully doesn't really matter to us. We just kept the blinds closed to not see the AC units. LOL. Not complaining. TIP: Make reservations for Becca and The Hunt Room in advance! We were glad we had them. The Raleigh Room is a nice lounge to hang out in for drinks. They had live music both afternoons that we enjoyed. And boy do the Gals that work there work hard and fast! We couldn't appreciate them more! Loved walking around and taking in the history of the place. Corey, The Engineer ran into us checking out what looked like an old slot machine, but it was a cigarette dispenser. He made our day by talking to us, giving us a brochure and even showed us cat prints in the original stairs from the 1920's. Thank you Corey! The grounds are gorgeous to walk around. Cross the street and you're at the Marriott and Embassy Suites for beach access. There's a rooftop bar/restaurant at the top of the Marriott for great views. Wish I was back there right now!!

Yelp
For Christmas my daughters gifted me a long weekend at The Historic Cavalier Hotel, and after our stay I can confirm it is the best gift I've ever received. Not only did I get to enjoy time away with my daughters, but we enjoyed a beautiful old hotel with stellar amenities and a friendly staff. We were in room 214, which was roomy. The beds were comfortable and the space of the room gave us the opportunity to spread out. The Cavalier offers free activities even during off season. While we were there in January we did a paint and sip class, and while we didn't participate, the hotel also offered wine tasting classes. The grounds were beautiful with plenty of places to sit and relax. We enjoyed sitting in the living room by the fire with our morning coffee. Theres so much more I can share, but my review would be way too long. I am definitely going back with my husband so he can have a great experience too. He likes whisky so the tasting room for Tarnished Truth would likely be his first stop. I did bring him back a bottle so he's a a small taste of The Cavalier.

Alexandra C.

Yelp
We didn't stay overnight here... heard it's haunted ;) Loved they were giving guests drinks at check-in! Visited the grounds and it is all gorgeous! Spa was amazing. Loved the bar/ restaurant area. Takes you back in time. Go for a meal or at least a drink of the wine tasting. Sit on the adirondack chair on the lawn with the view. But be careful crossing that busy street to the beach as I saw a tipsy woman crossing who came about half an inch of getting hit by a car.

Enna J.

Yelp
AMAZING! Luxury personified. Excellent staff. The beach club, close access to the beach, the restaurants, the guest room, the pool and spa...everything was a world class experience

Adam B.

Yelp
I was surprised by the middling ratings for this after my stay. I went during Christmas week for a getaway and had a stellar experience. I had booked a general suite on the website, but was assigned a specialty suite (The Ruffin) that had a designer mid-century modern decor that was a tribute to one of the investors and his time as a lifeguard on Virginia Beach in the late 1950s. I love the mid-century style, so this was a wonderful treat for me and the suite was spectacular. I'm not sure if there are other specialty suites or not; I didn't see any information plates outside any other doors like I had. Had lunch at Becca and dinner in the Hunt Room and both were very good and had varied menus. Stopped by the Raleigh Room for a drink in the evening, but it was absolutely mobbed, so we just got drinks and took them out on the lawn. There are some lovely grounds with gardens and a little seating. The beach is about a five-minute walk down the lawn and across a street. There's a beach club with amenities there for the resort, and the sister Marriott is beachfront. Parking is pretty much limited to valet, so plan on that expense. The entrance hall is suitably grand as a passage into a grande dame hotel, and check-in is tucked in a cozy little alcove off the main hall with plush seating while you take care of business. The indoor pool area was quite warm and the pool itself is large with lots of lounges. Many people were taking advantage of this amenity, even in December. All the staffers I encountered were unfailingly pleasant and efficient, from valet to check-in to bartenders to food service. Many of the rooms here would have at least a look at the ocean, but it's not a selling point for this resort, since it's across the road and up a small hill, so there are no direct ocean-front views. I don't see on the website where you can request an ocean view, so it doesn't appear it's sold as an upgrade or anything.

Michele R.

Yelp
Attended their New Year Masquerade Ball. Reservations required but you could pick with dinner or with hotel stay. This beautiful elegant resort is the perfect location for a ball. Multiple restaurants and musicians in the different rooms

Skye B.

Yelp
As a Virginia Beach local, The Historic Cavalier Hotel has become one of my favorite places to visit! Even though it's a hotel, both the staff and guests are always warm and welcoming, making it feel like a special retreat. Their Ladies' Night is always a blast, but it's also the perfect spot to unwind with a few martinis around 5 PM. If you're into photography, this place is a dream--the historic charm offers so many unique backdrops for stunning shots! The Hunt Room's food is delicious! The staff strikes the perfect balance of being attentive without hovering. Whether you're a local or just visiting the oceanfront, this is a must-visit!

T. Bianca B.

Yelp
It almost disturbs me that I didn't know The Cavalier was soooo unbelievably stunning and I've lived here my entire life. First, the drive alone up to the valet is picturesque. You're greeted with smiles and hospitality. Red carpeted entrance opens up to a beautiful foyer, elegantly decorated and very welcoming. The pool area is relaxing, there's multiple restaurant/lounges for your dining pleasure, breathtaking views and courtyards, and there's nightlife with live bands as well and entertaining bar staff! Not to mention the rich history of the hotel and land itself. I cannot WAIT to return and there's just not enough stars here to give lol! If you're visiting or even a 757 resident, don't sleep on this experience like I have for decades ‍ lol. Totally a BB referral!

Brittany B.

Yelp
Definitely the best option while staying in VA beach but room for improvement include the following: -the room service number never works so you'll have to call the front desk and end up waiting 10 minutes for someone to pick up -so many families yet the property really isn't stroller friendly. You have to go the long way to the beach club, take another elevator to get into the main property, etc. -breakfast was late every single day despite putting our order on a card to be picked up the night before. -there was about an inch of dust under a dresser in our suite. -couldn't grab a spa apt. I recommend leaving some slots for hotel guests so they can really enjoy their stay -they lost our car at checkout... I guess some miscommunication when we checked out but when we got our car it was full of ants- not sure where they parked the car but we're still dealing with this and no, we had no food in the car. Things we loved: -beach club (one day the service was so slow but the next day it was phenomenal) -the bellmen were fantastic -cookies every night at turn down -AMAZING! -champagne at check-in

Nicky S.

Yelp
We only stayed for one night, and it was in January, but we loved it! We were greeted by a friendly valet who parked our car. At the reception area, we were offered a glass of champagne while checking in. We were also able to check in an hour early which was great. Our room was nice and clean. Not a special view by any means, but the room was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was a generous size with lighted mirrors as well as a cosmetic mirror. The towel racks were oddly placed over by the toilet with no hooks next to the shower to access you towel. It would be nice if there was at least one by the shower. The shower itself was steamy hot with complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. The hotel itself is steeped in history and the art in the hallways will give you a glimpse of this. It really is a beautiful hotel! We took advantage of having drinks and dinner in the Hunt Room, followed by after dinner drinks in the Raleigh Room, and breakfast at Becca. All were top notch and special in their own right. Looking forward to another stay here again in the future.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS HOTEL. If you are in the mood to travel but can't, definitely visit the Cavalier Hotel. The perfect spot for a staycation or getaway. It's a wonderful place to enjoy any occasion. The hotel has many venues and events going on a daily basis. Some include: -Private indoor pool (makes it look like it's outdoors) -Private beach club (a 5 min walk at an oceanfront) -2 Private chairs at the beach (9am - 6pm) - umbrellas or beach beds are for additional charges -Restaurants in the hotel (Becca , Hunt Room, Raleigh Room) -Salon and Spa -Fitness Center Every morning the Raleigh room offered coffee and tea. Every evening cookies would be dropped in our hotel room. The room is neo-classic (modern classic) and very spacious. Feels like royalty! The room was always cleaned. Whenever I ordered something from room service, I would get a call confirming if I received the items asked for. Definitely coming back again!

Sue D.

Yelp
The food at the buffet was delicious and I give it a high rating. The turkey was tender and juicy and the gravy that came with it was appetizing. I also had the NY Strip and au jus. Their seafood was tasty. They had jumbo shrimp, raw oysters and clams. I can't rave enough about the food however, I did have issues with the cocktail drinks and the service. I believe management poorly planned for this event and I was disappointed. I sensed a lack of organization with the servers because they didn't have anyone to bus the tables to take away finished plates. I constantly had to ask for plates and glasses to be removed. The expensive cocktails were poorly made and I suspect that they didn't hire experienced bartenders. The musicians they had were horrible as well! A violinist and someone playing the cello while we ate and a pianist in the Raleigh room who couldn't hit the right notes and they were consistently flat! I was so annoyed with their playing and I wanted the hotel to just turn on Spotify. Now I paid for gratuities when I booked my reservation and I don't believe I received good service. You would think a Historic 4 star Resort Hotel would have better planning and service but they didn't! Even the valet was disorganized! I think I will just stay home next Thanksgiving instead of being aggravated and having my experience ruined by amateurs. I'm saddened by my experience. With the apathy I saw. I paid a lot of money for this subpar experience.

Erika K.

Yelp
Such a lovely property and experience. We stayed two nights as a family of three with a toddler. So much to do. The amenities are extremely thoughtful- fresh cookies at turn down, daily resort activities, golf cart service, beach set up etc. So many swimming options in the summer months - indoor pool, Beach Club, or the beach. Friendly and kind staff. Looking forward to returning!

Steven H.

Yelp
Robert was amazing and the best staff I have ever met at a premier hotel! If there Is one person that personifies the character and culture of the Cavalier it is Robert! Stay here without question and know that you will have an amazing experience.

DeAnna E.

Yelp
Stayed here two different times. The first time in 2023 it was great. The breathtaking view from the hill. The ambiance of a historic hotel wonderful. The second time in 2024 awful. The second time we stayed in room 213. The blinds were damaged, the bathroom door would not close, we awoke to men working on the HVAC outside our window (they could see directly into the room), the room was next to the elevators which you could here all day and night, and there was a "mouse" sound every hour coming from the minibar. The valet service was not good. The app that the hotel tells you to use doesn't work, so you are left outside waiting for your car for at least 10 minutes but probably more. The receptionist doesn't seem to want to address issues or compensate you for your time lost or inconvenience. Surprised that an expensive hotel would treat guests with no courtesy.

Trent L.

Yelp
Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so with that being said let's ride!. Unfortunately this review is going to be one of the shortest reviews I've ever written, why you ask?. My wife and I came here because the restaurant we visited was located inside this beautiful establishment!. We arrived and instead of trying to find parking we figured it would be much more convenient to just go with valet parking. As soon as we pulled up the valet opened up my door ( I wasn't driving ) then walked around to the driver's side and opened the door for my wife and wished us a pleasant evening. Once we got to the entrance another kind gentleman dressed in a long coat and dress hat opened the hotel entrance door and gave us a run down of what events were happening this evening! We didn't get a room here but I will say the service was great!. We will definitely return soon, I promise!.

Yelp
Ambience epic! Bar staff questionable. The lavender lemon drop was sweet to the point of nausea. The dirty martini was heavy on the olive juice and notoriously light on the gin. Asked for water to take away with my drinks and was told to go to the water station! When the bartender saw the expression on my face, she got me a glass. Like I said, the location and ambience are epic.

Yelp
We had an incredible experience staying at The Cavalier. Everything was amazing. The staff, especially Caroline, were so friendly and helpful. The room and amenities were perfect. The grounds are simply beautiful.

Yelp
During my visit, the doorman Robert and the bellman Wahid were so wonderful. Thank you both!

Yelp

Yelp
Just go!! The hotels history is worth going for. The hotel is beautiful. As soon as you pull up valet is greeting you with a big smile. As soon as you walk up the red carpet steps you feel like a star! We sat on the outside desk. They were having a live band. What a beautiful night the weather was perfect. The outside bar is very nice the bartender is very knowledgeable. The only complaint is she would not put in a food order. We had to wait quite some time for a waitress to be sent over. The truffle frites are so good!! My only complaint is the order needs to long!! Lol because their so good that you want more!!! The band was AMAZING. They do have a great special on Wednesday evening!! I will be going here again very soon!!

Yelp
Beautiful location, pleasant service, delicious food. The only tick against them was the slightly slow service. We enjoyed an anniversary dinner outside by the garden. Thankfully, the patio was not crowded and the jets overhead were intermittent enough to not interrupt our celebration. We ordered the baked Brie. So yummy. Rack of lamb was perfect as were the crab cakes. They even brought us a little cake bite at the end. Truly memorable experience.

Yelp
Amazing experience!! We spent here 2 nights, I love the beach club and the private beach.

Yelp
What is there not to love. They have restaurants to choose from, the distillery and the reliegh room which is probably my favorite. Can go to the hunt room for some yummy food. The relight room bubbly night on Thrusday. Hangout in the lawn on beautiful sunny days with your favorite drink. Ask the doorman Bob to take your pic. He is an expect. Lol. Will need to valet or walk it over. Totally worth the experience.

Yelp
The Historic Cavalier Hotel exceeded my expectations. It was like stepping into Gatsby's home. The decor was exquisite. The food was divine. The staff was superb! If I could rate this hotel a 10/10 I would. Everything was so divine. We were greeted with champagne and whisked away to our room which was very cozy and comfortable. After changing we went downstairs to attend a fundraising event. The drinks were great! We tried the Tarnished Truth brand since they are nestled at the bottom of the hotel, and we were very pleased with the quality. I would definitely recommend a stay here! The next time I'm in Virginia Beach I will definitely love to try their beach club!

Yelp
I'm a fan of this beautiful historic hotel, restored over several years and lots of $$$ by the Marriott hotel group. I've been multiple times for dinner and drinks and hanging outside but had never stayed until this past weekend for Valentine's day. We booked an overnight and had a reservation across the street at the Marriott's Orion's Roof rooftop restaurant. The staff are all wonderful - very welcoming and go above and beyond to try to take care of your needs. Those who get the most shout-outs are the doormen who work their butts off opening your car, running around to get your car, opening the hotel doors, calling shuttles or cabs, making dinner suggestions and even offering to take photos in front of the lobby for you. They're always wonderful to me every time I come. We stayed in a standard room on the second floor (213) and I was worried because it was so near to the elevator that we would hear tons of noise, we didn't hear anything. The room was larger than expected with a desk nook, plenty of walking space, a plush and comfy king bed, and a large bathroom with double vanities and a large walk-in shower. We loved the room and were surprised by how nice it was for the standard room of the hotel. We will see about the suites when we return this summer for our wedding! I've eaten at Becca and The Hunt Room before and enjoy both of those restaurants - Becca has breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and is more formal while The Hunt Room has live music, drinks, and is in the basement area by the distillery. I like the vibe, their menu has interesting game hunt items on it like duck, hen, etc. and they have stuffed animals around and a thriving bar. You can hang out at the upstairs bar area where they host afternoon tea on weekends mid-day and have live music and drinks by the fireplace at night. They usually host some themed events here around holidays as well and I love their french press coffee and sorbet! The grounds are stunning and I love the outdoor areas to hang out in warmer months on the patio, by the fire pits, and eating outside at Becca under their firefly lights. Last year, I also came to the spa for a pedicure and massage and found it to be beautiful. Unfortunately, during that visit and this stay, due to COVID, they're still restricting use of the facilities so you don't get the full range, but the pool and jacuzzi were open to guests. We were not able to use the steam room and sauna in the spa because you have to book it in advance and they only allow two people to use each for an hour time slot. Disappointing.

Yelp
What a beautiful hotel! Absolutely have to visit the Raleigh room and get a drink, love love love the patio and lawn area. The rooms were on the small side but expected given it's a historic hotel. The rooms were clean and updated while still staying true to the history of the property. My favorite part about staying here were the turn down cookies each night. I would love to come back!

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful hotel, inside and out!!! Everyone from the concierge, to the bartenders, to the customer service team, all staff members were super personable and helpful. I came here for my cousins wedding on 2/22/2022. The night before was 'Burger Night' which gives you a decent sized burger, your choice of a side of fries or salad for $18. And you can tack on a glass of wine for $5. It was all very good. Especially the fries. Lol And the wedding was just lovely. Beautiful venue, open bar, it was awesome! I don't live in Virginia but would recommend this hotel to any locals or anyone visiting the VA Beach area.

Yelp
Great Cavalier Aperol Spritz on the front lawn. Very relaxing and nice staff. Recommend Arbuckle across the street for additional drinks.

Yelp
Amazing 70th birthday party at the Cavalier Beach Hotel! Nick Nations, Krystina at the Front Desk, Samantha at the Bar, David and Chris the Bellman outside were all excellent! We love the beach club with Michael who attended to our every need and the outside veranda at the Cavalier for music most evenings and the delicious breakfast at Becca with Tami and Sean were our waiters for the week. Our week at the Cavalier was truly exceptional and the service and detail to our every need was truly what makes this hotel one of a kind!

Yelp
Never visited here before, and I will make a point of doing so again! It's drop dead beautiful in the sea of tacky that is VA Beach. We toured and had a glass of wine at the bar, wandered thru the gift shop and thoroughly enjoyed our time here while trying to keep it classy. Yes...it's that kind of place. Hushed tones while viewing art. Art with a twist I should say...something a little off about every painting. For instance Mona Lisa taking a selfie. We were here on a Wednesday, and told you could get a burger, fries and a glass of wine for $15 that evening. While that was appealing, walking back was vetoed. So we skipped that. Putting staying here on my bucket list. It's run by Marriott, so that's a plus in my book. Love those points.

Yelp
We tried to get married on the property, either in the Raleigh Room or on the patio. However, we were told there was already a wedding going on that day. Because we had a small ceremony with minimal guests, my husband and I got married in the Presidential Suite. He set up a trellis and decorated it. We had a photographer take pictures of us in the hotel room and around the property. I can't wait to see how they turn out. The manager, Carlatta, was so helpful. My husband did not like the original room so Carlatta made sure he was satisfied and well taken care of before I arrived. Her customer service was superb! If we had any questions we spoke to her directly. Jessita was also so friendly and helpful. She made sure that when I arrived my husband and I did not see each other before our ceremony. She gave us sparkling wine while my mother and I waited for my husband to leave the suite. We had every need met. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Amazing everything. Beautiful hotel with all the feels of history. We had a gorgeous suite, The Ruffin Suite. It had a cool retro beach theme. We ate at both restaurants - food and service was outstanding! I will post a review with pictures on the restaurants. Relaxed by the gorgeous pool. Had a smoked old fashioned in the Raleigh Room listening to live entertainment. Walked the gardens. Took a Distillery tour and did the bourbon tasting afterwards. I would defintely return!

Yelp
What a cool historic hotel. The architecture outside is as inviting as the decor inside. This truely an upscale hotel and bar. The ambiance is very nice. The staff were great. The bartenders could just about make anything you would like. My only regret is not making it to the speakeasy located on premises. From what you can see from the outside, it looks like a really nice place to socialize and drink.

Yelp
Wow. Don't know how to cover it all. And this is long overdue because I stayed there with my 78 year old mom from Dec 25-Jan1st. This place is exceptional. The hotel, he history of the many famous people that have stayed there, the restaurants, the food, the neighborhood it's in, the decor on every floor (I walked them all) but the staff. I'll just name some folks that I think are amazing at their job. If you're not named, it's because I forgot to write it down by the time I got to my room! I have to say that I was with my 78 year old mother that has water on the brain so she has balance issues. The staff was exceptionally aware and helpful. But my go-to girl was Jessita. I think every time she worked, I had to go to her and act like we misplaced our room key (it was my mom) and she made me a new one with no judgement. She took care of me just as well. Loved that she could make me laugh no matter what. And she had the BEST hair! Others: David, bellman has to be the busiest man in the hotel. He takes two carts of luggage up at a time." Bellman of the year in the US!" And always working! Sophia hostess at Becca, Mia and Joshua helped me print stuff for my nieces bridal shower the next day, Bobby red headed bartender from Becca, Met Tori for a afternoon cocktail super sweet girl, Trent Petersen "jazz hands", Keith, Ray and Tim, Ceara hostess, Megan at shop, Jared and Bobby bartender, Jeremy the waiter, Aicha waitress, Doorman/valet Thomas helped recreate the ghostly experience for my mom! But besides all of these lovely people, Kearra the girl who did rooms when my mom was sick in bed for 26 hours. She came in and changed the sheets and cleaned our room even though my mom was so sick (not covid!) And also Cameron Almond Junior or CJ! He helped me and my mom at Christmas, in the rain and anytime we got out of our families car to drop us off. Sweetheart. All of the locations in the hotel are one of a kind to visit between the restaurants, the distillery, the gym was great, the gift shop for unique items and the spa. You're crazy not to stay at least one night here. It's exceptional service, historic and unforgettable experience. Love you all at the Cavalier!!! xoxo Tracy

Yelp
There's is no question how breathtaking the hotel is upon arrival.    However, the lobby bathroom desperately needed to be attended to. There was no toilet paper or paper towels, garbage on the floor and the trash can was over flowing.  I notified the front desk and went to our room. When I returned back to the lobby, maybe 15 minutes later the lobby bathroom was still in the same state.  I'm sure this is not considered acceptable by The Autograph Collection standards. The reservation was made for 4 people in one room.   However, the room was not set for that. One would think at the base price of 850.00 per night attention to detail would be paid. We had to ask for more towels, robes, glasses, etc. as we kept noticing it was only set for two people. The bathroom in the room needed a little facelift: towel hook was gone, faucet handle and toilet paper holder were broken as well. Also, the windows in room had several broken panes of glass. We were also were charged for items taken from the mini-fridge and food-to-go. It pays to take that extra minute and look over your invoice for mistakenly added charges. One might be better off visiting the hotel for their dining establishments versus staying there. It was not the experience we were hoping for with the price we paid.

Yelp
Fantastic! The hotel had wonderful ambience, and it was a privilege to stay in such a masterpiece of the past.

Yelp
I absolutely adore this place, the service, the decor, the doorman, the flower arrangements, the patio, the drinks, wall art.. what don't I like here? Drinks/food - great I like to get mid afternoon drinks at the bar while enjoying the beautiful wall art and sitting by the patio or the grassy field overlooking the ocean. What a delight! Their old-fashioneds are great cause they have this fancy smoke machine! All other mixed drinks were great here too. Not all food here are good, but select items in the 3-4 dining options you have here are good. Service in general are top notch here. I just cannot possibly recommend this place high enough. They are now building extension/club house close to the beach, so I cannot wait to go back next year to check them out.
