New Boston Restaurant Openings, December 2025 | Eater Boston

"A self-dubbed 'chef-driven neighborhood bar,' this spot opened on Thursday, November 13, in the former Rudy’s Cafe space in Teele Square; helmed by Charlie Redd of Dragon Pizza with business partners Doug Sherman and Bridget Zerner, it offers elevated comfort food and craft cocktails in a supernatural-themed space." - Celina Colby

Yesterday (Friday, 14Nov25) was their second evening of service and it was BUSY. I surprised my wife with a trip to this place and hoped to easily snag a two top since we got there around 5pm on a Friday, boy did I miscalculate. We got there and was told there was going to be a 30min wait, a hour later our table was as ready She got the maple old fashioned and I got the espresso martini, both were very good. We started with the bread and butter (bread was fine, soft but not warm and the butter tasted like a sweet cream butter), cheese fries w mushroom gravy (I like mushrooms and this gravy was MUSHROOMY, kind of just like a rendered down cream of mushroom soup, which is to say it was as good just be prepared for a mushroom punch to the face). Spoiler alert: as others hav mentioned, the fries were fried well and were my favorite food of the night. As a fan of Cantonese food, I saw braised tripe as an appetizer and had to try it; much different than the dim sum tripe I'm used to (worked well w the cannolini beans but you kind of just got the texture of triple and not really the flavor). For my wife's main she got the veggie burger (bean based patty, said it was dry) w the side salad; her favorite part of the meal was the side salad (just mixed greens, no tomato or cucumbers etc), was head over heels w whatever dressing they used. I heard good reviews about the fried chicken so I tried it for myself. I'm usually an asshole and request dark meat but as this was their second day, I stopped myself. It came out piping out and did look a smidge black in some places but the chicken itself was cooked very well, still juicy inside. However the breading was very bland and the accompanying veggie slaw was fine. As someone who got accustomed to the GFC (Greek fried chicken) of Committee in the Seaport + Highland Fried's fried chicken, I was hoping this could be my new fried chicken place but alas it is not it. All of which is to say I would come back here but after the opening craziness dies down!

I'm impressed. When Rudy's went away we were saddened, but we enjoy The Hollows, where Rudy's queso and house margaritas live on. Everything else we tried at this themed restaurant (Halloween? Goth?) was spectacular. I'll definitely get the breakfasty Smothered and Covered again, and the gnocchi was delicious. Try the house made hot sauces! (On the downside they do seem to have slightly less seating than before the changeover, and we gave up the first time we tried to visit, though that might have been a result of an opening week rush.)

Food was so good I forgot to take a picture of the entrées! The bone-in fried chicken was juicy, soft & fried to perfection in a light but deeply delicious batter. The market fish was served whole, leading with the char-grilled flavor and an amazing caper sauce, made New-American with fried onions. So good. Picture is of the delicata squash appetizer - the perfect plate to warm up a winter appetite.

Stopped by without a reservation on Friday night around 6. Wait for two was approximately 20 minutes. They sat us in front of the fire which was nice on this cold night but I wouldn’t prefer to sit there in the future. We ordered drinks, apps, and entrees. The cocktails were good. Bartenders and staff in general were attentive and friendly. The picture features our apps, the grilled octopus a with romesco sauce chorizo and beans. Delicious but the octopus itself was a small piece. We also tried the Yuzu calamari and enjoyed this very much. We also ordered the burger with a side of fries. The burger was flavorful but the bread a bit too dense. The fries were amazing. We also enjoyed the daily catch which was salmon over a squash based sauce and a side of broccolini. Good but not super memorable. Overall we had an enjoyable experience and would absolutely come back. So glad we get to support a local business.

I've been waiting for a while to try this place out since Rudy's left, and boy was I happily surprised! The fried chicken was crispy and tasty. The Rudy's margarita bright back find memories too and the staff and atmosphere was amazing! Check it out on a date night or just a cold night, and if you do pull up a chair at the fire table.

Since the day I noticed the mural being painted out front I knew I’d have to check this place out. We went on night 3 of being open and the place was bumping! 40 minutes of being open (5:40pm) and every table and bar seat was filled. We got our appetizers before our drinks but we didn’t mind since we were enjoying the atmosphere. The bread and butter was yum, the GREENBEAN CASSEROLE WOWOWOW and the frisee salad was a little salty but the egg was perfectly poached and delish as well. The Negroni was tasty, the beer taps were crisp. Can’t wait to come back!!

Got dinner at The Hollows over the weekend! Food and drinks were amazing and reasonably priced. We got the Fried chicken and the Braised Pork Tagliatelle. So happy to have a restaurant that is walking distance. Can’t wait to go back!

Went in on the way home to check out the new spot in the neighborhood, ordered 2 miller highlifes and their French 75 to drink, and the American chop suey and the burger with the house bread and butter to start. Bread was good and warm, and the butter was sweet and plentiful for the portion. My burger was cooked medium as requested and the burger patty quality was good, my only qualm would be the bun was a tad dense. I got a side of fries with a side of beef gravy and that was delightful. The chop suey was served with a marrow bone which my partner was very into. They didn’t have a dessert menu yet, but they did have a birthday owl at the table next to ours. Three individuals introduced themselves as the ownership team during our meal, a very pleasant visit and good vibes for their first month.

Yelp
Ever since I saw the owl mural painted over the old Rudy's cacti I was curious about this place! We went on their second night and it didn't disappoint. It definitely has a Gothic/witchy vibe to it with lots of owls and hard-core flyers from the 90's. Bunratty's, The Rat, etc. The food was very good and not too pricey! I recommend the fried chicken, calamari and fresh bread. I also tried their salmon with sweet potatoes and broccolini. Their signature cocktails are good too. I especially liked their mojito. I want to go back a third time to try the burger and fries, which several people were ordering.

Yelp
A wonderful and much needed addition to Teele Square. I have been waiting for a great local restaurant and bar and it came in the spirit of The Hollows! I went here with a few of my friends for New Years Eve. It was the perfect way to bring in the new year. The staff are always so friendly and a joy to be around. I love the ambience of the place - with a mix of photos from the past and present. The food was delicious. I ordered the Branzino - which is the current special - and it was delicious- lots of flavor and taste - just wanted to order more. They have a great drink selection- I ended up ordering a margarita - which was a perfect way to welcome 2026. The staff was gracious enough to hand out prosecco for free to every customer to celebrate New Year's Eve. I can't recommend this place enough. Make your New Year's resolution to eat and drink at this wonderful local establishment.

Yelp
Yum! Upscale comfort food (at reasonable prices) has landed in Teele Sq. in the former Rudy's space. Fans of the former Mexican haunt will appreciate the Rudy's marg and chips and cheese sauce appetizer. I went for a friends & family soft opening event so the menu was limited (lobster biscuit, I'm looking at you for next time) but drinks were solid and so were the items we tried: octopus and delicata squash, a pork tagliatelle (sadly not on the main menu), and a roasted cauliflower main. We're trying to be carb-conscious, so we didn't try the fries. But they were the thin, crispy kind I'd eat way too many of. Staff was very friendly amidst pre-opening jitters. I had one cocktail and one Guinness pour. Loved the decor and thought the bathroom might also have some wild funky stuff, but it just had some tasteful art. Definitely the kind of place that feels fancy and I'd be most comfortable at the bar. Worth noting they have an egg/sweet potato hash kind of thing on the dinner menu, so if a breakfast craving hits, you won't go wrong here, either.

Yelp
Finally got to experience this awesome spot. Warm, edgy and inviting. Has an elevated Dragon Pizza Vibe! No pizza served. Menu is inventive - delicata squash salad can make you swoon, hello Dutch Baby, fries with beef gravy! Drinks a many both with and without spirits. Sat at the bar and so happy to be in the presence of fun folks. The Hollows will make Teele Square a happening place - which is good and bad! Good On Ya Hollow Crew!

Yelp
Really good experience our first time at The Hollows. Chop suey was delicious, the veggie burger was very good, well made, doesn't fall apart. And the side of fries was hot and tasty. And, it all comes with friendly service.

Yelp
This place is so cool! The staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating of our big group without a reservation (but seriously make a reservation; it fills up fast). We loved the funky, unique heavy metal/punk rock-meets-Edgar Allan Poe aesthetic, the craft cocktails made with high-quality ingredients, and the approachable but elevated comfort-food favorites on the menu. I savored every sip of the Voivod (a bourbon/fernet/fig concoction named after a Canadian space metal band) and every bite of the American Chop Suey, which has a wonderful umami depth you surely never experienced in your school cafeteria's version. But be sure to save room for dessert. The gooey pecan pie with fresh whipped cream was rich and decadent without being too sweet--quite possibly the best I've ever had. Some of my friends ordered the s'mores pie, featuring a marshmallow topping that was blowtorched to their liking tableside. It's clear the team behind this place has put a ton of thought and care into creating an enjoyable, memorable dining experience. We will definitely be back.
