London’s Best Fireplace Restaurants for Christmas 2018 | Eater London

"Ah, a wintery walk on Hampstead Heath — it’s all fun and good-for-the-’gram games until it starts to rain and someone falls in the mud. Stomp from east to west before retiring to The Holly Bush, a Dickensian Grade II-listed pub at the top of the High Street with a kitchen that has an instinctive feel for comfort food. Thaw out by the crackling fire then repair to a table for rabbit and chestnut pie with celeriac mash, parsnip gnocchi, and an all-British cheeseboard." - Emma Hughes

A lovely pub run by a lovely owner - Vanessa and team pulled out all the stops for our wedding. They went above and beyond to ensure we had the best day. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be forever grateful to this wonderful pub.

We recently had our wedding in the garden of The Holly Bush and we would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to host an event! The team were amazing and everything went so smoothly. The pub garden is so beautiful and amazing, and with the recommended partner Country Tipis - it was the most beautiful set up for a wedding.

Fabulous food - wow massive roast dinners. Tasted lovely. Lots of gravy. Fab desserts.

17th Century traditional pub selling the Fullers ale range. Beautiful maintained building with wisteria in full bloom at Easter time. No TVs, games machines or other modern distractions - instead dark wood panelling and furniture with a well-maintained beer garden. Ales are well kept and I hear that the food is very good; albeit a little pricey. Opening hours are traditional too, so check before expecting to spend a leisurely afternoon here.

The Hollybush offers a great selection of well priced tasty, fresh bars snacks, served by friendly, efficient staff. My personal fav is the jacket potato with Chicken, Walnut & Celery in Curried Mayonnaise with a generous side salad. The lounge bars and even toilets are furnished beautifully with old style furniture making this pub a cut above the norm. Justifiably so it's gets busy very quickly come opening time. Suggest arriving by noon at lunch time as by 12.15 all tables could be snapped up. The Hollybush has a lovely exterior & garden too and ample parking. Check opening times, as they are not open all day.

We booked our wedding at The Holly Bush on 14th September 2024. Vanessa, the land lady, is incredibly friendly and really helped us through the process. We didn’t make it easy for her considering we had a marquee, DJ, bouncy castle, gladiator ring and soft play to set up. As well as having x2 food vans (Pizza & Crepes). There was a little hiccup were the food vans did not fit through the gate so unfortunately they had to set up in the car park, for anyone booking a food van at this venue - its something to keep in the back of your mind about! Apart from that the day ran very smoothly and we had an amazing time. Everyone commented on how amazing the venue was. It was beautiful and taking away from the decorations we had placed there it was clean, the garden was tended to and it was perfect for the day. Thank you to Vanessa & her team for looking after us on our special day!

While the Holly Bush is expensive, it also offers a fantastic, welcoming and cosy environment. The food is very good, as is the beer and the staff extremely friendly. Also, great desserts!

Yelp
The Holly Bush has to be the archetypel olde english pub. Beautiful wooden interior, full of antique furniture that is so highly polished you dont want to put your glass down, without using a beer mat. 4 good ales on tap including a guest. To compliment the great ale is the fine selection of cold and hot food. This pub is a must, a real gem.

Yelp
A fabby, little bit posh, pub. Excellent food and good sized portions too. It's in the countryside. Very genteel with excellently kept real ale. :D
