I stayed at the Holman Grand for my one night in Charlottetown in large part because it seemed like a pretty central place to be. As I was driving as well, it was good to see that I had the option of utilizing the cheap option of parking there (especially since it is free from 6PM-8AM), and there is plenty of availability given the performing arts center across the street empties out when there aren't shows going on. Getting checked in was a cinch, but one annoying complaint is that the swipe keys used here get deactivated if you swipe it incorrectly. As such, swiping the (not in use) security bar in the elevator, as well as accidentally using it on the door into the gym, made the keys inoperable and required a visit to the lobby. Given how slow the two elevators seemed to run, I ended up burning a good amount of time shuttling back and forth to get my keys fixed. The other main amenity I checked out was the aforementioned fitness center; it's in the basement - so don't count on a view - but it isn't stocked with a ton of stuff; the available dumbbells are not a lot and come in only 10-pound intervals once you hit the 10-pound weight level; and only shower-sized towels are provided. There's a pool as well, but given the setting, I'd only end up using it if I was swimming as a workout.
The room itself was okay, but being on a mid-range floor (the 6th floor) mostly afforded me a view of the roof of the mall next door, and not high enough to see any of the bay. I did appreciate the generous number of pillows apportioned to each bed, and the beds themselves were comfortable. The bathroom was fine, with the small exception of the very odd faucet really only accessible to your foot. Since it's a shower and not a bath, it is quite unnecessary, and it meant I had to consciously think about not accidentally stubbing my foot or heel on it. The design could definitely be better.
While the Holman served its purpose for me - I needed a place to sleep, a place that wouldn't require walking a great deal (or driving) with Charlottetown, and a spot that had a fitness center (which barely passed the mark) - I wasn't terribly thrilled with it. In looking online, I didn't sense there were many other options, so I wouldn't be opposed to coming back again. That said, at the price point, which is moderate, I still found it to be a bit disappointing.
