The Hopping Pig

Enjoyed some appetizers and drinks on St. Patricks Day at 'The Hopping Pig' First of all- what an innovative creative business name! The restaurant was very busy, and the service was outstanding. Loves the decor and music, and use of light to enhance the whole experience. We go out to eat a lot, and for 3 servers to meet all customer's needs who were there was amazing. I didn't see a single patron waiting for anything. We were seated near the back, and there was a blonde haired supervisor (or owner?) watching over everything, and and jumping in to help as needed. She seemed very effective! Just loved this restaurant,and will definitely return during our next visit to San Diego! There were many places that we saw downtown that catered to college kid age crowd, and The Hopping Pig customer base was a little older, (like us), looking for a more relaxing experience- and we found it! Sophistication is the word that comes to mind.

Came in for the crispy pork belly disappointed because they changed their menu and no longer have it. They have a whole new menu that mostly focuses on burgers and sandwiches. There are plenty of burger/ sandwich joints in Gaslamp if that's what I wanted. Service is good quality and the music is nice. Bartender is making my drink "by the book. " The menu on here has not been updated. Eating the appetizer I ordered and moving on. I have added a picture of their current menu.

Went their to have a couple of good craft beers and their beer menu was really good. Also ordered the chicken wings with parmesan and garlic which were also just perfect. Service is quick and friendly. Can rocommend this place.

Good chill vide and a large selection for drinks and huge selection of beer. Bar crew knows how to mix drinks right. If you want flair, excitement, and flaming shots go to Hard Rock. You want amazing classic cocktails or draft beer to relax you have found your place.

Had an Irish car bomb. It was good and they played Glass Animals (a European group I don't hear often) so it created a good atmosphere. I probably would've stuck around if it wasn't so dead. There was no cover charge when we got there so maybe that's why it was a little dead. Overall not a bad experience but not good enough to keep us from checking out other bars in Gaslamp.

Great vibe, excellent beer selection, service was friendly. However, the beer pour was bad and the glass definitely wasn't "beer clean". Would come back if the glasses were clean.

Great food, friendly service, awesome decor and amazing beer. Come thirsty, very thirsty.
