"The butterbeer you’ve heard so much about is a butterscotch-cream beverage straight from the Harry Potter books that’s smooth, sweet, impossible to resist, and available pretty much everywhere in the Wizarding World. The great debate about the supremacy of hot, cold, and frozen varieties rages on, but we prefer the frozen version for its icy texture, ideal on a steamy Florida afternoon." - Carlye Wisel

The hopping pot has a great assortment of drinks and three types of hand pies (half circle pie crust), veggies, chicken and beef. They are hand size for $10. They sell gillywater which is just bottled water, but if you ask for a cup of water they will give you a plastic cup full of ice water for free.

This trip we tried Otter's Fizzy Orange. It is a light orange drink that was heavier on the cinnamon than we thought. Texture is similar to an emergen-c effervescent drink. Flavor is thankfully better and reminded us of apple pie (if you replaced the apple with orange). Brown sugar cinnamon on the rim. Bottom was more concentrated vanilla but only tasted the sugar. Great that it is a gluten free option. Definitely not as iconic as a butter beer. Recommend having someone to share it with because it is very sweet. Presentation is nice. Think of it as a mocktail.

Google
Cool spot to enjoy a drink and a snack. They offer the different butter beers and a couple of draft beers exclusive to Universal. We tried the lemonade, Dragon Scale beer, butter beer ice cream and the beef pasties. The pasties are good if you are looking for a light snack and not a full meal. You can sit in the wooden benches or you can catch a show a few steps away as you enjoy your snacks and drinks. Enjoy y'all!

Google
Butterbeer ice cream > Pumpkin Juice > Frozen Butterbeer > Otters Fizzy Orange Juice > Cold Butterbeer > Fishy Green Ale = Pumpkin Fizz > Peachtree fizzing tea I don’t remember what the hot butter beer tastes like, I think it was about the same as regular butter beer. Otters Fizzy Orange and Fishy Green Ale and Pumpkin Fizz all taste very similar. They all have the same sugary cinnamon vanilla taste, just with a different splash of either orange, mint, or pumpkin respectively. Peach tree fizzing tea didn’t have that cinnamon vanilla taste but was just too sweet for it to be called tea. Wouldn’t have known it was tea if it didn’t say.

Google
Great spot to get a drink whether it’s beer or not! Obviously Butterbeer reigns supreme but the pumpkin juice is dang tasty as are the Potter themed beers! Love that they serve early too, you are on vacation after all😂😂

The line for this place can get quite crazy during the day, but if you're still lingering around the park at night (and you should, Diagon Alley is AMAZING in the dark), there's virtually no wait. They offer all your speciality HP drinks here, including all the butter beer you can imagine. I got the fishy green ale, which is pretty much a minty soda with boba. Not my favorite drink there, butter beer is leagues better.

“After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, and that is the most horrible thing in the world.” —Oscar Wilde Good place for Harry Potter drink lovers. After the first one, you'll not be ready to understand how it was. Second.... also not good. Yes! The 3rd one will help you look around and become Harry's lover.

Google
Really good! Their drinks and butter beer and ice cream are all delicious treats, especially on a hotter day. Enjoy it with their wood-plastic benches in the sun!

James M.

Yelp
A trip to Universal is not complete without some kind of butterbeer snack or drink, we absolutely love the frozen version of the butterbeer year round. It's sweet, it's refreshing and surrounded by the magical atmosphere, there's nothing better! The queue can sometimes get a little long, but because it is just drinks at this location it goes fairly quickly. The only time we don't get the frozen butterbeer is when it's cold and we flip to the hot butterbeer, which is criminally underrated.

Roger Renzo R.

Yelp
I love this place. They have a big variety besides the butter beer (which is my favorite). The ambiance here can't be better. It just takes you to the Wizarding World. And the staff is always quick and helpful. This time, I tried the Fishy Green Ale. It was surprisingly good! The mint taste and the blueberry fish eggs made it a fun drink.

Deni B.

Yelp
The drinks are delicious! Looks like they maybe previously served food at this spot, but now it's just drinks. Mostly non-alcoholic Harry Potter themed drinks and a few beers. I tried the Fizzy Orange Juice (very slightly carbonated orange drink with cinnamon and maybe some other spices!) which was wonderful! I think this is the only drink with a fun rim of sticky sugary cinnamon, and a whole orange wheel garnish. Perfectly refreshing. As of October 2023, the drink (and I think the rest of the non alcoholic drinks as well) was $5.50. Not bad! Seems like The Hopping Pot tends to always have a line but it moves quickly, we were in and out in about 10 minutes.

Morbo X.

Yelp
Ordered beef and chicken pasties. The service was "weird" as the wizard who took our order seemed like he walked 20 miles to work for a 14 hour shift he was finishing when we got there. We chalked it up to the theme of the place, which was, well diagon alley so the quality of the food was hard to notice among the insane atmosphere!

Brianne C.

Yelp
We stopped by the Hopping Pot to cool down and try each of the non-alcoholic specialty drinks (besides butterbeer which we had already tried elsewhere). The line wasn't very long and moved quickly. Each drink was $5.50 which didn't seem outrageous and we all thought was worth it. They came in the plastic cups that can be washed out and taken home. We tried: Otter's Fizzy Orange Juice (very nice orange flavor with a hint of cinnamon, we all liked it), Tongue Tying Lemon Squash (seemed like just a good lemonade), Peachtree Fizzing Tea (similar to a peach iced tea but lighter on the tea flavor), and Fishy Green Ale (the group's least favorite - minty and the popping blueberry balls were fun).

Wayne M.

Yelp
Great stand to procure a delicious butterbeer either cold, hot, or frozen. The Dragon beer is a red lager, also quite tasty. The lines are usually long but move quickly, and the servers are polite and proficient. Definitely a must stop in your exploration of Harry Potter world.

David N.

Yelp
One thing I knew I had to do at Universal Studios was visit the Harry Potter section and, of course, try a Butterbeer. I didn't have high hopes because I had ordered a Butterbeer at a showing of the Harry Potter stage play and it was extremely disappointing. Here, though, they have an option to get it hot or cold or frozen, and I figured frozen might be the thing to get, so that's what I went with. Color me shocked! This was actually a pretty decent beverage. It's quite sweet, not surprisingly, but I enjoyed it anyway. Drinking it frozen gave it the feel of a particularly decadent slushie. And on top of all that, it looked like what you'd imagine a Butterbeer would look like. I'd certainly drink it again.

PJ S.

Yelp
Butterbeer, lemon squash, and wizard's brew were perfect on a hot day. The beef pasties were AWESOME and I kept wanting to go back for more. Highly recommend if you're okay with the line. Not enough seating, though. Right next to the stage where several shows are put on.

Sefali P.

Yelp
First stop at Diagon Alley and a memorable one at that! Our group tried all varieties of butter beer including regular, frozen and ice cream. We also tried the Witches Brew & Dragon Scale, both good, especially after all that sweet butter beer. Combine them to brew up your own potion! There are tables but if none are available, take your treats to-go as you wander the shops, or watch the Tales of Beedle the Bard show nearby. Note: the line can get long so if you don't see one has formed, stop debating and just go! You won't regret it, especially since lines for similar items elsewhere will be lengthy.

Thea I.

Yelp
This was the best place to get butter beer!! I love the service as it was fast and smooth, and not to mention Diagon Alley is beautiful! Have not tried the food, but from what others have told me: it is really good...the price sucks but what do you expect from Hogwarts/Universal. 10/10 must see and visit

Sadie O.

Yelp
The fizzing orange juice was great! They also have butterbeer. Line is very long though so be prepared!

Stella Y.

Yelp
Butter beer ice cream and frozen butter beer were delicious! I didn't know they have the ice cream version and it was so good!

Chelle L.

Yelp
Long lines all the time but great drinks! Even has a spot for the interactive wands when you're waiting. We made several trips to spot.

PatrickJ T.

Yelp
I must admit that I am one of the few people who has not read a single book or watched a single movie of Harry Potter. Despite that, I really wanted to try the famous Butterbeer!!! So when we went to Universal Studios in Florida this was the opportunity I've been waiting for. Found The Hopping Pot inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Walked up to the counter, waited for my turn, and placed my order. Wait was not long. By the time I paid, they already had my butterbeer plus something else I spotted. The butterbeer actually tasted quite good. It reminded me of cream soda with a butterscotch topping. They also had Butterbeer Ice Cream!! I liked this even more than the drink. To me, it tasted like a yummy soft serve vanilla ice cream with butterscotch. Both items tasted even better cause it was such a hot and humid day. Highly recommend that everyone drop by The Hopping Pot to try the Butterbeer!! Do not have to be a fan of Harry Potter in order to appreciate the place.

Mackenzie B.

Yelp
My top choice for drinks when I'm at the Wizarding World. At the Hopping Pot, you'll find other specialty beverages and alcoholic beverages other than what you'd find at the butterbeer carts. The take your passholder discounts here, which cannot be applied at the butterbeer carts. Try the fishy green ale- it tastes like Christmas in a cup, and the fizzy orange juice, which is a yummy cinnamon and orange drink. They are also serving hot butterbeer here so you will not need to purchase this in a store. It has been newly added to the sign, so it may end up staying all year instead of being seasonal!

Serenity G.

Yelp
Interesting flavors but the Fishy Green Ale was definitely slimy and fishy. The butterbeer ice cream was overly sweet. Worth the try and good for a refreshment on a hot day but I wouldn't go back for the drink or ice cream. There's only outdoor seating so if you're looking for somewhere with AC, this isn't the place.

Carrie L.

Yelp
After traveling from Hogsmead to Diagon Alley, we worked up a thirst for something stronger than a butterbeer. The Hopping Spot offers some delicious alternatives for wizards over 21. You can enjoy a Wizards Brew, Dragon Scale, Fire Whiskey, and a few other muggle beers. I opted for the Dragon Scale red ale. Unfortunately, all of the tables were taken so we enjoyed our beers near the Knight Bus stop.

Stacy F.

Yelp
A quick and easy way to get your butter beer fix, this location is for beverages and butter beer ice cream only. The line is usually short and prices are the same as other spots in The Wizarding World. Located close to the stage in Diagon Alley, this is a quick serve, outside stop off. The menu is posted to the right of the register base. They offer up a couple of on tap beers, Frozen butter beer and butter beer ice cream. The frozen butter beer is a personal fave but the hubs loved the ice cream. He said he perfect that one. Overall: A Quick, easy and short line! Get your butter beer here.

Anais H.

Yelp
Super quick and friendly service! It's tucked away in a corner, so it's easy to miss. Annual pass holder discounts apply, so sure that you have it handy! They have several treats and beverages you would recognize if you're a Potterhead: Pumpkin Juice, Beef Pasties, Wizard's Brew and Butterbeer (available in regular, frozen and seasonally only: hot!) The hot is my absolute favorite! It's like a butterscotch hot chocolate! If you're able to come in the holiday season, I definitely recommend trying it!

Sarah S.

Yelp
I liked The Hopping Pot so much I went four times while in Diagon Alley over a few days. I tried a variety of their non-alcoholic drinks and all tasted very good. They do have a couple of Harry Potter beers on draft here, too if that's your thing. You can usually find a shorter line here for butterbeer than some of the other stands and restaurants. The Hopping Pot has just a few picnic tables for seating so you could end up carrying your drink around the park instead of leisurely sipping while sitting. Non-Alcoholic Drinks I tried - Butterbeer $4.99 - Tasty like a giant butterscotch drink. Frozen Butterbeer $5.99 - Tastes the same as the regular version but even better! That's right, frozen butterbeer is the way to go if you can only try the drink one way. Pumpkin Juice $4.49 - I heard others in line saying this drink was gross but I loved it! I found it delicious and refreshing. Otter's Fizzy Orange Juice $5.32 - Nightmare drink! It's tasty but incredibly messy. It comes rimmed with cinnamon along the top of the cup which adds good flavor but is so sticky, gets everywhere, stained my clothes, got my hands all gross. Ugh! I wouldn't recommend this drink unless you plan on just sitting down and drinking it....then immediately washing your hands after sitting. Fishy Green Ale $4.99 - Boba tea! The drink tastes minty with blueberry bobas meant to look like fish eggs. Beers - Wizard's Brew $7.99 - Dark stout with chocolate notes that pleased this beer chick. If you're looking for a dark craft brew while in the park, this should fit the bill and it's quite good! This beer (along with the Dragon Scale) is made exclusively for Harry Potter fans at Universal by the Florida Beer Company Dragon Scale $7.99 - This a very solid craft Vienna Lager. I preferred Wizard's Brew but then I'm not much for lagers. And butterbeer ice cream ($5.49) - Wonderful creamy version of that butterscotchy flavor we've all come to love. The portion is big! Too large for lil'ol' me to finish. All staff was very friendly and quick to serve, they also seemed to handle the very busy times in an organized fashion. I tried nearly every drink on The Hopping Pot menu and was pretty pleased. I'd love to go back and try the rest of the drink list.

Rachel S.

Yelp
So a few things that I was not happy about. Lines are extremely long and worker's are extremely slow. The prices for snack food items are ridiculous and what you see is not what you get. The empanadas that they show are larger than what they actually serve and they are over $10, why is that ok. I returned the empanadas and got a beer instead SMDH.

Nadia K.

Yelp
Inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios is The Hopping Pot where you can indulge in all things butter beer! The frozen butter beer was too sweet for our tastes, but we loved, loved the butter beer ice cream!!! You have to try it!

Marissa S.

Yelp
How awesome is this place! Just being able to sit on the benches here and take all the surroundings in, any Harry Potter fan would be floating with glee and excitement. I truly felt like I was in Diagon Alley, all part of the Wizarding World, with a FROZEN BUTTER BEER ($5.99) in hand as my eyes feasted on all there was to see. It's nicely situated in a corner but not secluded enough to be away from all the action. There's no shade where the tables are which would be my complaint, and the staff taking orders at the counter are not as friendly as I expected them to be. Good thing the frozen butter beer was such a treat that everyone in the family was in high spirits. If we weren't rushed to order, I would've decided on trying the BUTTER BEER ICE CREAM, too. I can only imagine it to taste like a root beer float with butterscotch ice cream because that's exactly how the beer tasted. Oh how delightful! Don't worry parents of minors, this is the one beer your kids can enjoy - no alcohol content whatsoever. They do serve alcohol and other fun Wizarding refreshments. Cheers!

Melody L.

Yelp
We got regular and frozen butterbeer here. We all prefer the frozen version better. There was a 10 minute line here. But service was fast once we were able to order. They have beer selections too. We got a Wizard's Brew beer here.

Ashleigh C.

Yelp
I went here for a hot butterbeer. I liked the hot butter beer, but not as much as the ice cream. I definitely think it would go well with breakfast or late at night when it is cold. I would love to recreate this at home. If you like the cold butterbeer, but you also like hot drinks, then you should give it a try!

Christian C.

Yelp
You absolutely have to try the Butterbeer!!!! I was a bit hesitant to try it because I'm not a huge fan of butterscotch, but I'm glad I did! I opted for the hot Butterbeer during a cold Orlando day (40 degrees outside!) It was delicious and a nice way to warm up!! The cream on top of was my favorite part! I also tried the beef pasties that they had to offer. It was a nice little snack and was perfect to share! They reminded me of a bite sized version of Shepard's Pie that you can carry with you! There was a decent line and wait but it was definitely worth waiting for. You need to make it a priority to get a Butterbeer when you are in Orlando!

Samantha B.

Yelp
This is another butterbeer that also sells the icecream, other drinks, and I believe actual beer. It's set up an an outside stall with wooden tables for patrons to sit at. So it's already a little better than the carts but if you're looking for ac or dry seats in the rainy season you're out of luck. It would be nice if they had an awning or umbrellas or some way to shade and keep the rain out. As far as I can remember this place is not based on anything I know of from the books.

Emmie C.

Yelp
Butter beer is a must try when you come to Harry Potter. It's non-alcoholic. Refreshing in a hot summer day.

Victoria H.

Yelp
The line at The Hopping Pot was much nicer than in the very dark Three Broomsticks. I preferred the frozen butterbeer over the original because it seemed to last longer. "Fish eggs" in the fishy green ale were like fruit pearls which I'm not a fan of so I wouldn't get this drink again. Would love to go back to try the other options one day.

Santanu B.

Yelp
Good place to rest in the Harry Potter alley at the Universal resort. Kids and adults, they have drinks for both the groups. Butter beer is an attraction here, and I definitely enjoyed it, except that it was very sweet. I am not sure if thats how its intended to be or it was actually very sweet. You get beer and chips too.

John N.

Yelp
Honestly. You can't go wrong with the Hopping Pot. With so many Harry Potter references, it's hard to remember which places served what drinks, foods, merch, etc. I have not read the books (don't judge me). Regardless, the butter beer is a must! Here's the thing about the drinks at this location. IF you have visited Gaston's Tavern and had their version of a "beer," you will LOVE the "beer" redemption at this location. It actually tastes good. Fairly heavy but not too heavy. Butter beer is not the only thing you can purchase. You can also retrieve a variety of different beers. NOT YOUR TYPICAL COORS OR HEINEKEN. They have what's called Wizard's Brew and Dragon Scale. Pretty fun drinks. One of them is pretty dark. More like a dark ale than a stout. In order to find the Hopping Pot, after you enter Diagon Alley, head right before you approach Gringotts, the one with the dragon on top of course. Man I can't wait to go back to Diagon Alley and simply get lost in the atmosphere, the music, and the great drinks. Yes, it's touristy but it's definitely fun for all ages.

Hieu L.

Yelp
Go to spot for my butter beer needs. It has outdoor seating and the service is fast! This spot is also in a corner therfore the traffic in this area isn't to bad.

John O.

Yelp
Counter-service for drinks in Diagon Alley. Drinks featured from the Harry Potter universe, but also a few beers on tap available for those that wish to imbibe. Also a couple snacks available. Wish there were a couple more picnic tables or benches in the area to sit an' relax. But the area is cool as the stage is located in the same area with multiple performances a day.

Tia P.

Yelp
Good place in Diagon Alley for a quick beverage or soft serve butterbeer ice cream. I've had the hot butter beer, frozen butterbeer, butterbeer ice cream, lemonade drink, and carbonated peach drink. All were great and refreshing and just what I needed. Everything here is overpriced but average/typical for theme park prices. When all other places seem to have long lines, come here first. The line always moves quickly.

An H.

Yelp
It was a short line early in the morning. The drink and snack here are very special. I wish I could come back here a couple more times while I was there. Fishy Green Ale: 4/5 A very interesting drink with popping jelly. It's something worth a try. Peachtree Fizzing Tea: 3/5 They use actually peach juice but it tastes just like peach juice mixed with tea...would not get it again Cornish Pastry: 5/5 This is AMAZING!!! It's kind of pricey though...3 little pastries for $8 but it tastes so so so good I was so tempted to go back in line and get this again while I was still eating them Staff: 3/5 Makes you feel like they were in a rush and just want to get you out of the line..even though there were only 2 people behind me

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Long lines and everything is overpriced, but it's Harry Potter world so who cares about saving muggle money anyways. The frozen butterbeer is a must try. It's tastes heavenly and is really addicting. If the wizarding world has a diabetes epidemic, it's definitely because of butterbeer.

Jessica B.

Yelp
This is a great quick service area that we often stop at to pick up a Butterbeer. If you haven't had the hot version yet, please do - it's our favorite!

Stacey D.

Yelp
Short line for Butterbeer. Butterbeer itself is straight up delicious. My favorite is the frozen, but the cold is also awesome. They do have Butterbeer ice cream here as well.

Armando G.

Yelp
Other than a cold beer, there aren't many (any?) things that I prefer to purchase while walking around the park; this spot definitely fills the need. They have Butterbeer for those with a sweet tooth, Strongbow Cider for those craving their daily serving of fruits and Wizard's Brew for anyone seeking a surprisingly good stout. There's absolutely no reason to not drop by for a nice drink.

Sarina T.

Yelp
Best Butter Beer and full service bar. Enjoy your butter beer day or night. Night lights at each table. Outdoor venue.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Great walk up location to get all varieties of butter beer. The line usually isn't too long. They also have beers on draft and fire whiskey.

Kitrina D.

Yelp
This place is great! It had a ton of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. My boyfriend and I tried the butter beer, which was great, and I definitely recommend to anyone visiting Harry Potter World! I recommend getting the souvenir glass because then you can get $1 unlimited refills on any soft drinks served through Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure.

Frank M.

Yelp
The Hopping Pot in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a must!! Stop by and grab a Butterbeer or Pumpkin Juice. They also have other alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks. Butterbeer tastes just like root beer and cream soda mixed, with a vanilla froth on top. Plus, you can get Butterbeer in a frozen version. Pumpkin juice tastes like spiced apple juice. The price is a little high but well worth the experience of tasting one of these Harry Potter treats!!

Ashley P.

Yelp
This place is off in the corner of Diagon Alley, but it has some sweet outdoor tables to take a butter beer break at. They also have the alcoholic types of beer, and gilly water and some other wizard type drinks. It's sort of out of the way, so usually not too busy and if there does happen to be a line, it goes really fast. Take a load off, and enjoy some people watching while you enjoy your drink!

Agnes U.

Yelp
Although it's small, the service is quite fast. I've tried both regular butter beer and frozen butter beer, I must say that I love the frozen one way better! ;) I also tried the fishy green ale, which is a cinnamon mint soda with blueberry popping-jelly which tastes a little weird yet strangely addictive- not a bad drink at all. I strongly recommend to come here at night since the dark surrounding and the light from the table top lamp make the whole atmosphere more "real" : )
