Savannah Just Keeps Getting Cooler—Here’s Where to Soak in the City’s Creative Buzz | Vogue

"Death & Co. spurred an entire genre of cocktail bars, so if the team behind that liquor-fueled empire opens another temple to tipples, you know it’s going to be on point. The new underground boozer below Municipal Grand shies away from the overdone speakeasy formula; deliberately devoid of gimmicks (you won’t hear silly passwords to enter), it’s the place to go for drinks, dance-y music, and dark corners for, well, whatever people do in dark corners." - Lindsay Cohn

“Micro-cations” Are More Popular Than Ever—Here’s Where to Go For Your Next Short Getaway | Vogue

First Look at the Hot Eye, the Sexy Cocktail Den Below Savannah’s Municipal Grand | Eater Carolinas

"Tucked beneath Municipal Grand, this intimate, low‑lit lounge backed by leaders of the legendary Death & Co opens October 11 with a $12–$17 cocktail list led by head bartender Alexis Cooper (formerly of Edgar’s Proof & Provision at the DeSoto Savannah), spanning easy‑to‑sip highballs to booze‑forward creations like the Crushed Vice, a tequila Mai Tai riff with corn and pasilla chiles. The nonsensical name is meant to be provocative and surreal, and AAmp Studio’s design leans dark and sultry—wine‑red walls and banquettes, smoky mirrors, walnut, and black tile—deliberately contrasting the bright lobby upstairs. Guests enter via the alley at 125 E. Congress Lane; inside, the bar seats 50 across barstools, booths, and tables on a first‑come, first‑served basis with no reservations or waitlist, and hours run Thursday through Sunday, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Beyond drinks, I can even tack on a discounted, impromptu stay upstairs, and the non‑gendered bathrooms (shared with the lobby bar) flirt by the original 1960s bank vault with terrazzo tiles, chrome railings, low ceilings, and communal sinks. Aimed at Savannah locals—including the SCAD community and industry friends—and anyone seeking an offbeat spot that feels electric and alive, it even ties into a hotel‑guest Easter egg: find the hidden key in one of the 44 rooms and redeem it for a round on the house." - Colleen McNally Arnett

Staff was exceptional! Made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We arrived with a large party and were well taken care of at the bar and with cocktail service at a comfortable table with plenty of space. Everyone loved their cocktails as well.

Super cute speakeasy style basement bar! If you like Alley Cat or Peacock lounge, you will like this spot.

Another home run by Death & Co. This bar is awesome - the staff is incredible - knowledgeable and quick to make you a cocktail to your liking. DJ set was fire - spinning vinyl. Drinks are very reasonably priced for what you get. There is typically a line for this bar, so be prepared to wait during peak hours.

Welcome to the party, Pal! Holy bananas is this place cool. We came from out of town and were originally going to go somewhere else for an after dinner cocktail. Our server recommended this spot. We were told to expect speakeasy vibes; low light, a fantastic cocktail menu and great service. We were not disappointed. Total speak easy vibes. You enter through the alley and in the “side door” you head down stairs and feel like you’re in a unique unknown area. When we got to the lower floor we were welcomed with a Christmas display playing off the greatest Christmas movie ever. Die Hard. The Hot Eye has a rotating menu. These cocktails were themed around the movie. I recommend the Yippee-Ki-Yay. I wish we lived in the area, we would be regulars. Great service, fantastic cocktails, awesome ambiance. We will be coming back!!
