The Hotel at Midtown

"This Chicago hotel is something of an anomaly. It’s far from the Magnificent Mile and booming West Loop, the heart of the city’s tourism and business traffic and, since it edges up against a major expressway and residential neighborhoods like Logan Square and Bucktown, it’s one of the only proper hotels for at least a mile. There’s no doorman to greet you on the street, either. But for active travelers heading to the Windy City, the 55-room Hotel at Midtown, which debuted November 2017 inside the Midtown Athletic Club Chicago—has plenty of great, if unconventional, draws. Billed as the largest health and fitness property in the U.S., the club itself opened in August following an $85 million upgrade, transforming the formerly industrial tennis complex into a six-story, 575,000-square-foot sports resort. Featuring long, sleek lines and a reliance on natural materials like wood panels, glass, and concrete, today, it reads more as an urban wellness retreat than a glorified SoulCycle studio. And while tennis may still figure prominently (there are 16 courts), the club’s impressive assortment of boutique fitness offerings are the new attraction—a yoga studio outfitted with infrared heat panels, two PGA golf simulators, an outdoor, cenote-inspired hydrotherapy pool (just one of four on property), and a whopping 180 fitness classes per month. That said, you can still submit to your more base urges if you want: at Chromium, the on-site restaurant by Publican's Amanda Barnes, you're as likely to spot a post-detox tuna crudo as you are a juicy fried chicken sandwich (no judgment)."

Everything here is amazing from the massive fitness center with both an indoor and outdoor pool to the updated rooms and on site free parking garage. I can work on your golf swing while the wife is at the spa and the kids are at the kid center. Great option to get close enough to the city without breaking your wallet. I would stay here again.

The hotel itself is great however, we were on the 4th floor and woken up at 530am each morning my the sound of weights dropping every few minutes. The hotel was booked so we weren’t able to switch rooms. They said some people complain about the noise, others don’t. I have no idea how anyone could sleep through that. The hotel did waive the resort fee which was nice. I would not stay here again due to the 530am wake up.

Google
Lively, contemporary hotel at a popular gym/fitness facility in Chicago's Bucktown with a funky restaurant, bar and take out cafe. Great fitness facility available to guests which is a major asset. Location is near a shopping mall but not in downtown Chicago, so it's off the beaten track. Sleek and comfortable rooms with refrigerator and coffee maker but no stocked mini bar.

We stayed at The Hotel at Midtown for our wedding last week and it was the best hotel experience I've had in years. The staff were polite and helpful, the room was unbelievable, and the training facility was stellar. I would've stayed in the gym all day if I didn't have to go to my own wedding. I really appreciate the attention to detail throughout the hotel- the boxing gloves are individually mounted on heating/cleaning stands to sanitize them, the coffee and food in the cafe is phenomenal, the use of space for the indoor workouts is set up in a way where even at a high capacity it feels spacious. I don't have a single complaint. Thank you very much for having us.

Google
Great potential but the hotel is not properly staffed… The workers are very kind and respectable, but they do not have enough supervision. They leave one young woman manning the front desk, which is not only dangerous but in efficient. We experienced multiple errors in basic transactions… and no professional leadership . The hotel itself is beautiful clean and they are lucky. They have so many good workers who make this operate, but they will not succeed if they do not get more support to their workers and respect to their guests. Concept is amazing. Club is terrific. Staff is wonderful… Just obviously not managed properly.

Had to go here unexpectedly due to house issues. We stayed with our 1 year old. It was quiet, clean, and easy to get in and out

Google
Like the other reviews say, this is not a quiet hotel. With a weight room and fitness center in the building, you'll hear noises and your room will shake from people dropping weights starting at 5am until 10pm. If you stay here try to get a room on the top level away from these spaces. They also provide bedside earplugs to help sleep. The hotel is in a good area and offers modern experience.

This has been my gym for years. Amazing facility. Happy staff. Inspiring clientele. The best classes, and unmatched equipment. The atmosphere is always positive. Don't get me started about the wet/dry saunas. I live in them over the winter. It's a sanctuary.

Yelp
I am extremely disappointed with my current stay at this hotel. I was excited to stay at this beautiful hotel. But then the noise.... The room walls are paper thin so you will hear everyone next to you and in the hallways. We had the extra joy of our adjacent room having a party til midnight. Called the front desk 3 times with very little reaction. They stated they sent security to check on it but no resolve. Finally the police had to be called. So security here feels ineffective. The rooms are over a gym. I guess I didn't think a luxury hotel would not think about this. At 5 am we started to hear thumping. It's the free weights and exercise machines in the 3rd floor below the hotel rooms. It's nonstop thumping. So if you don't want a relaxed night of sleep or a wake up call at 5 am, this is not your hotel stay.

Yelp
The hotel part is awful. I would not recommend staying here with kids. Don't expect to get any rest (very noisy, loud banging sounds coming intermittently from the level below until late), the rooms do not have any control over heat/AC thermostat, yet the air is constantly running - very loud electronic hum - the room is in between extreme temperatures hot/cold. Uncomfortable. Calls to front desk are useless. Bathrooms are poorly lit, shower had sudden water pressure drops. The towels are paper thin. Annoying. The rooms show an unacceptable level of wear and tear, holes in bedsheets, walls and doors are scuffed throughout the hotel level. Embarrassing. In contrast, the club is run very well. Individual tennis instructors are very talented - big shout-out to Glenn and Daria! The indoor pool facility is very decent, although a bit chilly at times. The on-premises restaurant is above average for the hotel restaurants with very attentive staff!

Yelp
Slow check in. Like I'm standing there at 2 am and there is no one there but two employees behind the desk and after giving my card and ID it was literally 10 minutes of them checking me in. Not worth $199 plus tax etc. But they do have tennis courts.

Yelp
Stayed for one night for a Rocketmiles run, and have always been curious about this hotel that's located in a bougie gym. It is fairly new and the rooms are nicely decorated (out of a West Elm catalog) but they must have higher traffic than I thought because the rooms are definitely starting to show their age. Hotel rooms are on the 4th and 5th floors, the other floors are dedicated to the gym. I was in room 436 which was a suite (separate bedroom) and I could hear the muffled slamming of the Olympic weights below me starting at 6am. Earplugs are included on the nightstand. I recommend staying on the 5th floor if you can. Both a coffee and espresso machine are provided in the room with Lavazza products. 4 free bottles of water are also included in the mini fridge. The bathroom feels a bit cramped for a suite. The hotel charges a $45 daily destination fee, which obviously is very steep and is really only worth it if you use the gym which is very impressive. The gym is several floors, and besides the plethora of machines and weights, has both a giant indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts basketball court (across the street) and areas for group classes. As far as location, it's located in a strip mall with a grocery store and a Michael's and car dealerships. I wouldn't say it's super walkable anywhere since it's located in a pretty commercial part if the neighborhood.

Yelp
Not a great spot to stay unless the reason for your visit incorporates the club's extensive and beautiful fitness spaces. As mentioned across other reviews, the noise and side activities from fitness is a nuisance (banging until 1030p which resumed in the morning at 605a). That's a very different and disruptive departure from the typical hotel stay experience. Some pluses... blackout curtains in the guest room actually black out light! The bathroom's shower fixture was very nice with easy adjustments and great pressure. Lavazza coffee is in the rooms and is a nice touch. Some downsides... guest room air conditioning is controlled centrally by engineering. You cannot control your own sleep environment which is annoying. I asked the front desk twice for a fan, it was twice promised but housekeeping never showed up. I was also surprised to have a $45 resort fee added to my room. That wasn't evident to me when I booked the hotel (likely my fault, not theirs) but still too much. I also found the food surprisingly salty (major salty). It was a decent stay, not one that I will repeat again and certainly not worth the $500 I spent to stay for one night.

Yelp
I enjoyed a two-night stay here in January for a combination work and personal business trip. The hotel itself is integrated into the Midtown Athletic Club, an upscale gym chain in the Chicago area; your hotel stay includes facility privileges. The location is central to the Loop and highways so it's easy to get to and from wherever you're going in Chicago. The attached garage has lots of parking and is also included in your stay. The building is part of a commercial development with a couple of stores immediately adjacent, including a Fresh Thyme market with plenty of healthy food choices for your convenience. Inside, the hotel features a sleek, urban decor with warm, dark tones, wood flooring, and layered lighting. It has a very cozy feel from the lobby to the rooms to the public spaces in the workout areas. My room was well appointed with two queen beds, plenty of built-in USB outlets for charging devices, and places to hang close, a room safe, and a spacious bathroom stocked with everything you might need. The only nitpick I would have is that there is a bit of deferred maintenance with things like loose escutcheons on the grab bars in the bath tub and other signs that some guests may have put a lot of stress on the furnishings. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be in the area. Recommended.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! Stayed here for a wedding for 2 nights. Water was hot, room was clean & modern. Beautifully styled and nice views of the city. If I had one complaint - it would be that the thermostat in our room did not work. You couldn't set the temperature in the room (#523) The front desk is manned 24/7. It's a cashless property - so just be aware of that. You have to pay with card. It's shared with a huge gym, so the lobby was always busy with either hotel guests or gym members.

Yelp
We had a great stay here. Thank you for accommodating my family and our electric rides. See you all next year as we have found our go to home away from home now. Staff was very friendly and the hotel stays clean!

Yelp
We were in town on business in March 2023 and planned to stay at the Hotel at Midtown for just over a week to try to squeeze in some sightseeing and workouts, but we ended up leaving several days early as soon as my last work meeting was over. The first room we received had a cracked window ledge that would intermittently vibrate very loudly at various frequencies and made sleeping impossible. While we did get a different room the following evening, changing rooms was a multi-hour hassle and required several phone calls and trips to the front desk and I honestly felt like I was a bother to the staff for having a complaint; we did not get to explore the city that afternoon as we ended up having to wait for hours to move our things. The second room had quiet windows, but as one of the other Yelpers mentioned, the thermostats in the rooms do not appear to work and so we were freezing for the rest of our stay. Also, while we were aware that there is no breakfast provided, we were hoping to find breakfast items at the Grab and Go counter. Sadly, the underwhelming selection consisted of five or six pastries and a choice of coffees, with no option for something more substantial (unless you like salad-type items for breakfast). Maybe I'm picky, but for a hotel linked to an athletic club, it sure would have been convenient to have a healthy, quick, calorie- and protein-rich option to grab on the way to work or even after a workout. We ended up getting all our food elsewhere for our entire stay. To conclude, while we did get an apology for the first room and thankfully did not get charged any fees for leaving early, neither did we get any kind of incentive to continue our stay. Although from the beautiful website the concept of the hotel seemed genuinely intriguing and may be a good choice for some, unfortunately we cannot recommend the hotel and will definitely stay elsewhere the next time we're visiting Chicago. Pros: Convenient location to downtown, access to gym on site and parking is included in price of room, unique decor, fast Wi-Fi, mini refrigerator in room Cons: Rooms have inadequate maintenance, no temperature control in room, selection of leg workout machines at gym oddly lacking, limited "grab and go" breakfast options, no microwave

Yelp
I really enjoyed this hotel. We visIted the city for a work party which took out a block of rooms. Easy route once you exit the expressway. Private parking garage which is also used for the gym. Check in was friendly and seamless. We went to our room and I loved everything about it. Contemporary, sleek and I would have loved another night to enjoy the included amenities .... King bed was comfy. Chocolate was not on my pillow, but to the left on the night stand. Coffee single serve with to go cups. Great makeup mirror! Bright and clean bathroom. The bar and restaurant was busy. Plenty of seating and the mood was perfect. I was sad to check out early. I didn't hear the weights everyone heard. My sleep was unbothered. Room was dark. I hope to be back in the near future.

Yelp
UPDATE: I was able to get in touch with upper management - the VP who I communicated was able to understand my disappointment and was much more pleasant. He accommodated the inconvenience with a discount that I felt was satisfactory. I appreciate the communication!

Yelp
Would give zero star if I could! First time here, never going to be back! The pool area is not family friendly. My daughters were under age 14, at age 12 and 9, they were not allowed to women locker room even when I was with them. The Family locker room is in entrance, "everybody" gets in easily even alone adult men, because it is at entrance, easier to get in and out, convenient, so practically it is not just a family locker room, EVERYBODY is in there. 2 adult men were there with their underwears showing all details in genitals when my daughters were in there. Girls were disgusted, told they would never come here again. We had reservation for our 2 kids for a lane in the pool, (reservation receptionist all aware that kids will swim there, they have degrees in swim team), STILL another adult complained, brought receptionist down to pool, and tried take their lane away, because "kids" were in the pool. Receptionist came without checking records, came told the wrong lane number, then went back again, keeping us busy for nothing... When we tried to leave our stuff in family locker room, a manager/cleaner asked why we didn't have wrist bands, saying that we can't leave our stuff there without wristbands, that's the only way to lock the lockers. We are not members, we stay at the hotel, so why the receptionist didn't think of giving us one? So I said okay it can stay unlocked, it's just shoes and clothing, that wasn't allowed! I said okay, we'll take the shoes and clothing with us, she says "no you can't!"Then talks to a cleaner lady then comes " Okay she'll be here for 2 hrs she'll look after your stuff." She doesn't even let me take my stuff with me! I just left the locker room with kids, to pool. Never going back to this place!

Yelp
Peace & Quiet in a busy city! If that is what you are looking for this is your place. Very convenient to DePaul & Lincoln Park area. You avoid traffic from downtown if you stay here. Also right next to highway 90/94 exit. Clean rooms and comfy sleeping. You can hear weight drops so just keep that in mind. Will/Would stay here again.

Yelp
I was astounded by the service and the facilities provided at the Midtown Hotel and Athletic Club in Chicago. We had a three-night stay in the Venus Suite and I could not have had a better experience. The suite includes plush robes, a gorgeous living area, a king bed with beautiful gold trim headboard, a master bathroom, a guest bathroom, and a stunning view of the outdoor pool and city line. The athletic center at the Midtown Chicago spans three large floors. On the first floor, you will find the hotel lobby, the tennis complex, and the spa. The tennis complex at the Midtown Chicago has several courts so players are not waiting long to play. On the rare occasion that all of the courts are full, the tennis complex has a gorgeously designed lounge area for waiting. The lounge has a television, comfortable seating, and snacks do ease your wait. The Shop is also located on the first floor. The Shop is a store inside of the Midtown Chicago and is basically a one-stop-shop for anything that you need, clothing, undergarments, athletic wear, shoes, backpacks, etc. The Shop sells everything. On the second floor, you will find Chromium, access to the outdoor pool, the vast majority of exercise equipment, a cycle class, and a group fitness area. I really appreciate how the treadmills are positioned closest to the large windows to provide the best view of the city while working out. This floor also has plenty of Peleton bikes, free weights, and auxiliary machines. The third floor of the Midtown Chicago contains all of your Olympic lifting exercise equipment and the floor is all turf which I love! The turf also extends onto an outdoor patio area for additional group fitness classes. I cannot explain how impressed I am with this complex. It's perfectly organized, provides the best views, and the staff keeps this place spotless. The sixth floor of the Midtown Chicago is a rooftop bar area. The rooftop is absolutely gorgeous with a stunning view of the city from all angles. Due to COVID and state restrictions, Chromium was closed for indoor dining during our stay; however, the cafe was available for to-go orders. The Midtown Chicago did a fantastic job of keeping the space clean and safe!

Yelp
After a very nice conversation with the Hotel manager, she did follow through on the promises made. Oksana the manager is very professional and cares about the quality of the Hotel.

Yelp
Hotel room itself was all good. Comfy beds, great bathroom, sufficient space, and clean. No issues on those fronts. Beyond that, we were quite unimpressed with our stay considering we paid $400+/night. Noise from the athletic club below the hotel rooms carries upward quite a bit. From within our 4th floor room, we could hear classes, dropping of weights, equipment noise, chatter, and banging of doors throughout the day and night. Parking was included, but we were forced to go down to the main reception desk for manual ticket validation each time we wanted to retrieve our car from the parking structure. Temporary parking for loading and unloading is very limited. I had to walk the halls of the lobby area myself to locate luggage carts as there was no bell service or valet available, or even a staff member to point me in the right direction or assist. It was clear that the front desk staff catered far more to the athletic club guests than hotel guests. Signage ranged from confusing to non-existent. We took the elevator from the parking garage to the 4th floor multiple times only to find ourselves in the athletic club instead of the hotel. My wife took our five year old daughter to the pool and was chastised by a lifeguard for entering the pool deck through the women's locker room instead of the family locker room. It is true that there was a sign indicating that children under 14 were not allowed in locker rooms. The problem was, there was NO SIGNAGE to indicate that a family locker room was available. My wife even asked a staff member if there was another way to get in, and was told no. Upon further investigation, there is a family locker room, but no signage pointing guests to it. Signs indicating that undergarments, swim trunks, or towels must be worn and no cell phones be used in sauna areas were clearly disregarded by club members. The only on-site food available was from a lounge that was in the middle of the athletic club. We chose to not have meals with post-workout clothed club members. My daughter did enjoy a cup of ice cream with a wooden spoon on the pool deck for $5. Ugh! Overall, I would not recommend this location for anyone traveling as a family. It is 100% an athletic club that happens to have some hotel rooms attached. It is NOT a hotel that happens to have a workout facility.

Yelp
Where do I start! 5 stars is not enough!!!!! I went online and filled out the portion for someone to contact me about possibly hosting an event. Joelle the event planner responded via email so quick I actually thought it was fake lol. I ended up setting a day to come view the location. Boy was I impressed!!!! It was like Joelle was saving the best for last!!!!! We walked into the penthouse and I was sold. Joelle was quick to have everything written up. Everything plan to the T she didn't skip a beat! She answered all my questions(I had A LOT). Joelle is very professional, patient, and great at her job. If you want to plan a decent small size event contact Joelle at midtown her and her team will not let you down. The whole staff at the Midtown is amazing. Thank you Joelle you really help make my Golden 30th Birthday as special as I wanted it to be.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel for one night only. It was very conveniently located while visiting family in the area. Since we spent most of our time with our Grandchildren, now that we were safe to visit, we were only 12 hours at the hotel. The room was beautiful and modern and provided everything we needed. I often dread staying in hotels due to back problems, but I slept great and woke with no backache. Delightful! Did not use any of the facilities/amenities. We did have problem with the payment as the room was booked last minute through a third party. When I called to get it corrected, Chase, the manager in charge at the time was awesome. His customer service skills are to be commended. Thank you Chase! I will definitely consider staying here in the future.

Yelp
We used The Hotel at Midtown as our primary wedding hotel and everything went off without a hitch during the weekend. The hotel and rooms are gorgeous, and the facilities are an added bonus. I booked two suites to use for myself, bridesmaids and moms to get ready + as a honeymoon suite for my husband and I on our wedding night, and each were beautiful, spacious and came with champagne! Oksana was also super attentive and helpful for our group, as were the front guest reps who let in our photographers, flower delivery and more without us having to worry about it. Our family and friends were super happy with their stays and I know the hotel made for beautiful getting ready photos. The only slight inconveniences are in line with other reviews - you can hear music and weights dropping from the 4th floor rooms, but it honestly wasn't nearly as bad as I expected and I bet most people can sleep through it. There was also some slight miscommunication in the lead up to our wedding, but I chalk this up to a change in management and Oksana was able to smooth everything over before we checked in. Definitely recommend for brides and wedding groups!

Yelp
No FourSeasons .... I booked a short staycation for my kids and myself during Spring break. At check-in, I experienced my first bout of less than ideal customer service. The young lady checking me in asked a co-worker to go over the details of the hotel with me because her voice was not at full capacity.... instead of him readily agreeing to help me, he went back and forth with her about how he was working on something else, all while I was standing right there! He eventually gave me a brief, briefing... no direction to the elevator, no information on the restaurant on-site..... No information in the roof top pool. I then asked for pricing information on golfing and he made a sarcastic statement "oh YOU'RE interested in golfing?". That's the way I heard it... Moving on to what should have been a highlight, the pool... I desperately wanted a hotel with a pool for my kids, this hotel had one of a few In the city. However, they fail to inform you of the swim lessons for nearly every kid in the city that goes on during your stay! My kids were forced to swim in a corner of the mini 4ft deep pool during lessons that went on from 4pm (Check-in!!), until we finally left at 6:30!! The lap pool was completely occupied with lessons or other members swimming laps. To add insult to injury, the overly chlorinated pool area triggered a migraine for me! Overall, no warm and bubbly entrance to the hotel. Those that I first encountered did not make me feel excited to be checking in. The swim lesson manager and life guard at the indoor pool made me feel uncomfortable and out of place -- kids weren't allowed to just play in the waMy kids have had more fun at a public pool, that cost me nothing! Definitely won't be returning! Maybe that's the intent... keep non-members out. Super sad... this hotel is in my neighborhood! Would have been fine with a sincerely apologetic response from the hotel. Instead, I received one that discredits my opinion of my stay. There was not ample room in the pool as swim lessons went on from 4pm until 7ish, at which point My family and I left the pool area. My largest deciding factor in selecting the hotel for my family, was the pool - one of which was not open for use at all. Its Spring Break in Chicago and we're desperate for something that reminds us of the warmer seasons....

Yelp
Left work out clothes in a drawer. They were so kind to call and return them to me. This place is brand new so everything is spotless & pristine. I'd come back for another stay cation during the summer. Very boutique with a boutique price too! There's ample parking, currently no food service at night & the gym closes at night so you should be able to sleep just fine in the lofty beds.

Yelp
I loved my entire week at Midtown! I began my stay here feeling a little grumpy - because some water damage in my condo meant I had to move out of my home...and a week before I was about to run the Boston Marathon! But, from the moment I stepped in the hotel, my stress floated away. The staff at the front desk, the restaurant, in housekeeping, and in the gym were all very friendly and welcoming. By the third morning, the woman working the juice and coffee bar in the morning knew my order! The waitstaff and even the chef of the restaurant would stop by my table over dinner to check in and say hi. And, one of the trainers in the gym gave me some tips for working out a tight muscle. I'd come "home" from work every evening to chocolates on my pillow and the soft robe hung back in the closet for me. The bathroom was beautiful and stocked with high-quality toiletries. I'd enjoy a healthy dinner in the restaurant and then run an errand at Target (just up the block) or get a workout in at the gym. The gym itself is gorgeous! There are boutique studios for pilates, yoga, boxing, spinning, and of course - tennis courts. I didn't take advantage of all the class offerings since I didn't want to try anything new before Boston, but I did use some of the great cardio equipment. I noticed members had wristbands that they waved in front of the machines, and that brought up work-out info, as well as TV viewing options. Even without the wristband, I was able to take advantage of a lot of options on the machines. And while I love children, I was grateful that certain parts of the gym, like the locker room, have an age restriction! Every night after my workout, I'd wind down in the amazing hot tub. Halfway through my stay, I started calling my contractor to tell him he could take as much time as he needed. And, I was actually disappointed when he called to tell me the job was done - because it meant moving out of Midtown. I am fortunate that I don't have to travel much for work. But, I do travel a few times a year for marathons and half-marathons. I would recommend this highly to any work travelers who want to keep up a workout routine while on the road. And, I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone coming to Chicago for a race or competition. From exercise equipment and foam rollers to the hot tub and massages available in the spas, everything you need is right there!

Sue P.

Yelp
Worst hotel experience in a long time. The beds were rock hard so slept terribly. Literally, I need to go to the chiropractor. I get that it is a workout faculty but the assholes dropping their free weights on the 3rd floor starting at 6:00 am every morning, reverberates through the building and wakes you up. We had to move from the 4th floor to the 5th floor to try to get away from it, to no avail. Asked the front desk if they could do anything but apparently it's a thing. We stayed here as it is close to our family but will suck up the Uber and cab costs next time and stay somewhere else. Don't stay here!

Anonymous X.

Yelp
For a hotel with a wellness angle they need to really reconsider the quality of sleep that's offered. Was awoken at 5am to loud thumping and banging, doors opening and closing from other rooms, and other room plumbing. They charge a resort fee even if you're not using the facilities, which needs to be included in the booking rate if it's mandatory. Don't stay here. Other suggestions: include two bars of soap, one for vanity and one for shower... so folks can wash their hands. Otherwise was clean, modern, nice towels and sheets, great shower.

Yelp
The hotel is really nice looking and very clean. The downside is that there's a weight room right under some of the rooms on the 4th floor, so we got woken up around 6am both days we were there to the sound (and feel) of very large weights being dropped. We were very disappointed for the amount of money we spent to stay there.

Yelp
The hotel suite was very nice and kept myself and my guests comfortable for a birthday celebration. However, halfway through the night our toilet flooded the entire bathroom, flooding into the bedroom as well. The manager on duty was very kind and offered us 50% off of our stay which we gladly accepted. However, it has been 10 days and I have yet to see this refund. At check-in, they also put a $100 hold on my debit card which I was supposed to get back within 2-3 business days off checking out, but it is day 10 and still nothing. I'm very disappointed and feel like I was scammed. Every time I call the hotel, I'm told that the funds were released and that I need to call my bank, but my bank says otherwise, that there are no payments or refunds pending into my account. Terrible experience and a huge waste of money.

Yelp
What a delight!! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. The hotel is part of an athletic club, which we were able to get a look around, but didn't use as we had booked the room because of its proximity to Wrigley Field(we were going to see the Foo Fighters). The room was clean and provided us with a relaxing atmosphere. We had a view of the pool, which immediately made us wish that we had remembered to pack our swimsuits! One welcome amenity is that our parking was included. Parking in Chicago can get expensive! (like $75 for the night expensive!) The restaurant was delightful. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and we weren't rushed to eat and get out of there. Also noteworthy, you're walking distance to a health oriented grocery store as well as a Target. There's a refrigerator in your room that is stocked with several water bottles for your use. I absolutely loved my stay at the Midtown Chicago and plan to make this my "go to" spot for the next time I have a busy weekend planned downtown. It's location makes it easy to catch a Lyft to wherever you need to go!!

Yelp
Terrible hotel. Internet doesn't function and you can't sleep past 5am because the gym is directly beneath the hotel so you hear banging weights starting at 5am, ALL DAY, and through to 11pm at night. If you're a business traveler this is a terrible place to stay. Run don't walk away from here. They really should shut down this hotel or make it into a youth hostel and charge $30 per night. That's about what it's worth.

Yelp
Great facilities. But I hope you like getting woken up at 6 am every day to weightlifters throwing weights around. It seriously sounds like the building is under attack. After not sleeping for a few nights, we had to move rooms (from right above the weight room, to a floor higher. Didn't help at all. Terrible.

Yelp
Awesome customer service!! Haven't even had my stay yet and already know I made the right choice. Lisa was very pleasant and patient with me on the phone, I had a lot of questions and she didn't skip a beat answering them. Will update after my review after my stay!

Yelp
This hotel is a hidden gem. Everything about this hotel is excellent and it deserves 5 stars. This hotel is beautiful, clean, safe, and has everything you want and more. I never leave a hotel feeling like I didn't pay enough but I did leaving here. The service is the best thing about this place. They are so kind, informative, and it seems they really want you to enjoy your stay. I rarely stay outside of downtown Chicago, but this stay has changed that and I can't wait to come back and relax. The free parking is a plus and their pool was beautiful to just gaze at when walking by. I had a situation happen and everyone seemed sincere about helping me and not letting the day go bad. They are doing great at making you feel safe with Covid and it was just such a relief staying here at this time. I would recommend this place over and over to people. Thank you so much for the stay and I hope this hotel gets the recognition it deserves.

Yelp
This is a very nice gym that seems to have added a floor of hotel rooms almost an afterthought. The hotel rooms are one floor above the weight room so expect to hear the boom of bass from the music and the sound of weights being dropped. The cleaning staff was incredibly inconsistent. One day they didn't show up to clean my room at all. On days that they did show up, they would make the bed and bring fresh towels but didn't wipe down the sink or shower. It was very odd for a hotel that bills itself as high end and has prices comparable to what you would pay for a nice downtown hotel. The front desk staff was friendly but really didn't seem to understand how to help hotel guests. There is no concierge so don't expect anyone to be able to help you with suggestions about the neighborhood. I was incredibly frustrated when I arrived on the first night after a delayed flight and found that the restaurant was closed and the staff was unable to make suggestions about where I could get food in the area. It was only about 9pm, not an extreme hour by any means. The next morning the restaurant was supposed to open at 5am but when I came down at 6:30am it was dark and there was nobody there. After five minutes of trying to find someone, I finally went down to the front desk to ask about it. They just shrugged and said that the person who was supposed to open called in sick. I understand that emergencies happen, but they made no effort to bring in anyone else to open the cafe or at the very least put up a note saying that it was unexpectedly closed. I had a car picking me up for work in just a few minutes so I had no time to go anywhere else. This meant that I had to spend a full morning working with no dinner the night before and now no breakfast. I complained to the hotel manager who did offer me a complimentary meal in the restaurant. (He told me to just charge it to the room and they would take care of it.) But when I showed up at the restaurant to use it, the hostess didn't even know that I could charge a meal to my room. Honestly, I'm not even sure she knew that the gym also had hotel rooms. The bartender was finally able to at least help me charge it to the room, but I don't think I ever got comped for it. I wish I could say my experience got better after that, but it didn't. The gym is nice and you can take any of their classes, so if working out is a big priority for you, this might be an acceptable place. But for someone who was in Chicago to work for a week, this hotel was a total fail.

Yelp
I would never stay here again. This place is just a nice athletic club with a hotel in it. Let's start with the room itself. It looks sleek but I was not a fan of getting out of bed onto faux hardwood floors. While I know most people have cell phones these days there was no alarm clock in the room. Also, if I wanted to relax and read a book in my room I had the options of sitting on a office chair at the desk or an ottoman. I stayed here for 4 nights and my bed sheets were never changed. They just made the bed. There was a magazine in the room which had information about the athletic club but nothing about food options from the menu nor any local restaurants or delivery options. Let's talk about the food options next. After a long flight and almost hour Uber ride I checked in at the Midtown around 9pm. The restaurant was already closed and the bar doesn't serve food. Furthermore, there are no vending machine on any of the floors. Plus I had an ice bucket in my room yet no ice machine on the floor. So now I am stuck in a hotel room with no food options and nothing within walking distance. My room, which was on the 4th floor, happens to be above the gym or weight room. Every single morning starting around 5:45am there is very loud banging of weights which literally vibrate your whole room making it impossible to sleep. The hotel was aware because there was already a note in the room apologizing in advance about the noise. When a coworker checked in the follow day I told her about the loud noise so she was put on a different floor yet I was told no other rooms available. This place might be a good athletic club but it is a horrible hotel which I would never recommend to anyone. When I complained during checkout the person said he would waive the resort fees. Of course that does nothing for my poor stay with lack of sleep. Oh and when I opened my portfolio a few days later, they had credited the resort fees then re-applied them so no credit was given.
