The Hotel Utah Saloon

Decor and main vibe in the bar area was nice. We went to go see a show at the venue. The staff was great! The venue area… could use some improvements. Upstairs was a bit crammed, hot, and smelled of B.O. Some of the tables on the upper deck were missing chairs and chairs were wobbly.. I went to the lower portion to get an idea of what the whole venue was like, walked around for 2 seconds and immediately went back upstairs. Minimal seating, also wreaked of B.O. (worse than upstairs) and the audio set up was kind of just crammed in the back corner. To be fair, the B.O. issue is likely just people being gross and not entirely on the venue, but some sort of ventilation would be nice even if it were just an open window. The audio sounded great - I was able to understand and hear the artists the whole time. Lighting was smooth as well.

OMG, OMG! You have to try their buffalo wings—absolutely delicious! They do Wing Wednesdays for just $1 per wing, which is such a great deal. Plus, if you come on weekdays between 3–7 PM, you can get a beer and a shot for only $10. Amazing value and a super friendly bartender too!

Was surprised to find this place so lively! Loud music that fit the bill for Valentine's Day. Local bands that were kickin ass and patrons were dancin if not swaying to a rockin beat. Beautiful bar great food and excellent service. I will return with friends in tow.

I was here to watch a friend play with their band at an all-ages matinee, super cozy place and the staff were friendly, overall great atmosphere. I also lost a personal item and they responded quick and were understanding when I contacted them, found and kept it for me until I could come retrieve it. A very fun and memorable experience that I would recommend to anyone, support local music!

Absolutely the best fried chicken sandwich EVER! Get the Nashville hot style with bleu cheese dip and you will be blown away. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was juicy and crispy

Myself and a friend took our 4 teenager daughters to a show at this location. We drove from Santa Cruz, to San Francisco. The whole experience was amazing. Peeboo and the Katz played and gave it girls an experience to remember the rest of their lives. Shout out to peeboo for the Tees and autographs. The venue is quite small but it was worth it. There is a full bar and they are very on keeping the youngins away from the bar and the door person I can't remember her name was hella cool.

Ended up being my favourite in the visit to San Francisco. Great music , bar keepers and som really good mozzarella sticks and chilli. Loved it

Update. I don't think the owner realizes or doesn't care that the door guy made my gf spin around so he could check out her body. Really disgusting and not a great response. I've been back a few times since they reopened. The bar staff there is not as welcoming or friendly as the previous folks when it was my go to neighborhood bar. To be fair the old folks could get surly when understaffed but they'd always be welcoming. I recently stopped by at 10:30p to see get some wings on wing Wednesday. The sign said the kitchen closes at 11 so I thought I was in luck. I walk in and they said they already called last call. No luck. Mind you there was a band still playing. I've never seen a bar shut down while a band is playing, that's rude and amateur. That was the last time I went there and don't see any reason to go back. Even though I live 2 blocks away.

It was a rare time to visit Hotel Utah Saloon...years ago I noticed this venue...it's an inn for 3 month workers near the industrial areas...San Francisco residential hotels...ghostly buildings...the bar is old-fashioned..."saloon"...the venue is antique and you can see the old wood structure...the ship decoration says "Alexandria, VA" golden girls..it's fun! this tour of old saloons in SF is fun...this one is a music venue ...running for very long time---100 years plus...it's so far away to me...under the bridge---haha puns...you can see the ephemera...near Giants stadium...any day you can visit for music ... Open mic --- the oldest in SF...upstairs seating...rare find to visit Hotel Utah Saloon...music venue..this bar...historic building at 4th and Bryant.

Hotel Utah sometimes hosts live music so definitely check it out then since it's pretty fun (and gets crowded)! Otherwise it's just a chill "saloon" :) They've got pub food, which is pretty basic and not bad. I wouldn't recommend the pie ... but who gets pie at a bar? the bartender was super nice so I'd recommend a visit if you're in the area and looking for a low key night (when there's no music) or a lively one (when there is music).

The Utah is Back, Baby! I hadn't been to the Utah in like 20 years, but I went twice in two weeks because they started booking bands that I liked. In a city where it seems like nothing is as good as it used to be anymore, visiting the Hotel Utah Saloon was like stepping back into the good old days of San Francisco. Except this isn't the good old days. This is now, this is hip. It's vibrant and exciting. The Utah was built back in 1908 and was part of the Barbary Coast era. It definitely has that old school charm in the colorful facade and big wooden bar. You can feel the history here. OK, first thing you need to do when you walk in is order the deep fried deviled eggs. Do not hesitate. The rapture could happen any second now and you don't want to have missed this appetizer. The owner told me that she used to eat this every other day, but had to stop because she was putting on a few pounds. And I can see why. This thing is all the decadence of a deviled egg, but coated with a crunchy fried breaded coating and chili oil. Served with a delicious sauce to dip them in. It's perfection and goes great with a cold brew. Speaking of which, they have several great choices on tap. I went with the Allagash White and it paired perfectly. Next up is the hamburger. I'm a total burger snob and I ordered this because I remember they had a good one back in the day. This one is even better. Well-seasoned patty, quality bun, and cooked perfectly. This instantly landed on my top three list for best burger championship (the other two being Juanita & Maude in Albany and Underwood in Sonoma County, in that order). I've tried a few other dishes, but these were my favorites and I do recommend you foodie people be sure to check them out. The Utah has a real chef who is passionate about crafting his menu and it really shows. This is what makes them a clear cut above your average San Francisco pub. After the great food, we head upstairs to the balcony to watch our favorite bands. The atmosphere is chill, the sound system is great (they have an in house engineer), and the crowd is enthusiastic. They have a full light system for the stage as well. I'm an older guy so I'm looking for more of a sit down with a beer and watch the show experience rather than a mosh pit adventure and the Utah is a great place for this. The staff is friendly and taking care of business. The parking here is not difficult on 4th St. Self serve water is readily available, which I love. Safe neighborhood at night, nothing sketchy. Clean bathrooms. Chill crowd. Two great nights for me at the Utah and I look forward to my next visit. And those deep fried deviled eggs.

Yo this place was Litty up in the City, yah mean?! Came here against my will, to see my best-friend-in-the-whole-wide-worlds wife play some live music. I didn't order anything, at all, so I couldn't tell you anything about all that, but said friend ordered some bar junk food, and it looked pretty tasty, I dunno. Looked exactly like what you would expect all bar food to look like. So yeah, the venue was super chill and so was everyone there. There was some sort of statistic about being some sort of specific thing, but I can't remember, cuz I wasn't paying attention NOT because I was drunk... *this* time! Mua! ha ha! Mua Mua Mua!! aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!

Wandered in the other day with a friend. Chill and good vibe bar. Came for some lunch and found out it was $1 wing Wednesday. Can't beat that! Had the Buffalo flavor and was tasty. Bartender was nice and attentive. SF Giants bar for sure. Overall good spot for some lunch and a pint.

I THOUGHT this place was a cool dive bar, I was hired on behalf of Jerry, the cook. He never got back to me after two days of working for him, so I went in there to receive my payment. He told me he was NOT paying me and that I was a "stauge" I dont know, just trying me out and promised me 3 days a week after those two days and then left me hanging for a month. No respond. He begin telling me it was slow .. which it always is. He is clearly not a business man and barley a cook. I cut potatoes and carrots for him all day and he said he wanted to "see my skill".. I would not give my business to these people. How disappointing that they think they can take advantage of someone for some extra help. Don't waste your time in this deadbeat bar. They have zero customers for a reason.

BEST BUFFALO WINGS IN THE CITY!!! Tell me a better place.... I use to say mad dog BUT The Utah just does something different. Its a a dive bar! Very local, and on Wednesday they have $1 wings and its welllll worth it. Their other food is delicious too.

Stopped in for an afternoon snack and a drink while my car was being serviced on Bryant. Great atmosphere! Beautiful carved wood bar. Utah Inn is San Francisco history. Ordered a drink. Someone came in inquiring about employment. Went back to the bar to order something to eat. Bartender decided she'd rather talk to the prospective applicant than make a sale and serve her customer. She came back eventually, but I was already disappointed. Also, the bar music, although awesome, is connected to her phone. So, every time she gets a text or voice call, the music pauses. Even so, I may be back someday purely for the history of the place.

Fun place, full of quirks. No frills, neighborhood bar type place. So, no cocktail menu, and they might not even have all the ingredients for your favorite mix. But, plenty of beers and ciders on tap, and the bartender is totally up front about what can be made. My wife said her dry martini was great. My wife had the burger, and raved about it. No pic, cause I turned my back for two minutes. To add to the fun, open mic night on Mondays is a hoot, with live music other nights as well. It's not perfect, but the imperfections are charming.

Food was actually not bad. They had a BBQ special and for less than $20, it was a lot of food. I like the street corn, which was surprisingly a whole corn on the cob sprinkled with lots of cheese. Yummy!! Customer service was ok.

Hotel Utah is a SF institution. It's a great place if you're looking for a cheap beer and decent bar food. You can also catch live music which tends to cater to the new bands in town. It's a rite of passage for anyone looking to move up in the SF music scene. The staff are cool too. Too bad it's a bit out of the way from good foot traffic. Hopefully the new train stop helps.

This local time capsule of a bar is sure to delight. The chicken sandwich might be the best I've ever had and I can't wait to try more! Come support this local relic, you will not be dissapointed!

I really want to like it more just because of how weird and thrown-together the performance space is, but the weirdness and thrown-togetherness of the performance space is also one of its greatest drawbacks. Sure, it looks cool; and I was as glad as anyone to be as close to the mighty Dave Benitez while his band, the Black Heartthrobs, played--plus I got mentioned onstage!--but if I weren't checking out a friend from high school's band? Would I want to put up with uncomfortable seating, the utter lack of seating, the people sitting and standing and leaning and otherwise contorting themselves while trying to both be comfortable and see the show while blocking your view of the stage? It's cheap to get in for shows, and that's good. I've never been disappointed by any of the acts I've seen here, even when I expected to be. It used to feel so out in the middle of nowhere, but once the T-Third Street is finally separated from the K-Ingleside and follows that northerly route to Chinatown, the T will be another option of getting to the Hotel Utah Saloon (get off at Fourth/Brannan) without having to walk too far or face a sketchier bus line. I did end up walking south along 4th Street to catch the N-Judah home. Even that's not too bad, but once the T is in play, there'll be much less late-night SOMA walking for me, thank you very much.

I went for open mic on Monday night. Brenden was so catering to all the talent. He had 36 sign ups and the whole evening was fun, entertaining and Brenden had loop peddles to accommodate a real awesome Taylor swift parody. Everyone participated in the beautiful scene that unfolded as the night progressed. Best open mic for obvious reasons. So many gifted musicians and artists comedy, poetry, original Songwriters, pianos, guitar, mandolin Rob. This is The San Francisco Legacy.

They make the best Bloody Mary! Bartender was funny and accommodating with the music since we stumbled in after dinner down the street looking for some fun. Small place but drinks were awesome!

Love this place so chill and great service. Wings best with LIVE bands. Definitely a cool place to hangout with friends that are into live band music.

Attended a show here for a touring band towards the end of 2023, immediately saw they were being treated poorly by the day shift bar tender, and belittled the musicians in front of patrons. It was disgusting to see. The night shift crew was light years better, super friendly and outgoing while the day shift guy seemed to be feening for more substances. We will not return to this venue unfortunately.

FUCK THIS PLACE! I'm only giving 1 star for the food. Otherwise this place is a piece of shit that allow employees and customers to belittle and disrespect non drunk couple's minding their business waiting for their takeout. I experienced the worst example of a "professional business" and 12hrs later lay awake at 2am just to speak about the HORRIBLE and TRAUMATIC and DISGUSTING treatment my partner and I received after walking in to place a takeout order on a Sunday afternoon. In short, after sitting at the bar to order takeout at about 3pm on a Sunday...I placed my order was given my receipt and as I signed the receipt I heard, " no tip? Your not going to tip the lady" a question that didn't warrant a response to the drunk white woman next to me. To put things in perspective...I had water. She has was on shot #2 and beer number 1. with her ugly brown purse and idiot turned on. I calmly said, "no one said she wouldn't get tipped, but I will see how the service is and the how my food comes out before I determine my tip." The woman tells me I already made the woman "run around for me" because she got me water and added cheese to my order (which was never added). I told her, "when teachers get automatic tips, then maybe I will consider automatic tips for a bartender, until then she will EARN her tip. The next 20mins became the nastiest, most uncomfortable, racist and utterly disgusting service I have ever encountered in Sf in the month. My guy had recommended we eat here because he is a local resident and had enjoyed the food here, and although I said no initially, I gave it a chance. There were about 10 other "adults" in the bar as my guy literally had the bartender and the drunk lady next to me yelling at him. We asked several times for the woman to stop speaking to us. The bartender did Nothing but exacerbate the situation saying, " she's a server like me" and she didnt have to be quiet. This lack of accountability, let me know this would only infuriate my guy. It took the bartender about ten minutes to get the drunk to shut up after she asked us to move, told us to be quiet because it was "over" ...offered to bring us our food where we were staying and had the nerve to justify a woman who had no business speaking to me regarding my tip. Rather I planned to tip in cash was not her business. My tip was not her business. Thank God someone with decency came from he back to help control a situation that could've had ended very badly as a white drunk men came to defend this crazy woman who couldn't keep her opinion to herself. I will not be a paying customer again. My food should have been refunded and an apology given by the worker here who could've easily avoided 20mins of chaos. My guy and I left with our food and a very unpleasant and utterly horrific experience. The worst part is the drunk woman eventually goes outside and cries after being called out. Luckily the other drunk guy had a friend I was able to convince to take outside and way from the establishment before he got hurt from threatening my guy "to come outside". The woman bartender deserves to be fired for her exceptionally, bad, and bias service. Defending a fellow "server" could've caused an unfortunate event to follow...by the grace of God i was ablle to keep my guy (only black man in the establishment) calm as this drunk woman was ALLOWED to spur stupidity and when defending ourselves, we were asked to be quiet becaus we were disturbing other guests. Fuck this establishment and their shifty bartender and I hope to see any of these idiots again on the street. Miserable people with miserable lives. Don't bother going here if respect, quality service or fairness holds any value to you. You will be appaled by the lack of unprofessionalism and outright entitlement, privilege and disrespect these "people" have. Oh yeah, upon leaving the drunk woman let me know she covered my tip. I told her, thank you...you are a better human than me. Because at the end of it all, people want attention. They need to feel better than the next person and they are perfect so they can judge whoever they want. As she sipped her third drink...she thought we actually had to tolerate her idiotic maniacal episode while trying to get food to go. My only regret Is I didn't record the whole ordeal and I paid my money only to endure 20mins of anguish and prevent a violent scene because they can't tell white drunk woman to shut the hell up. This place can burn in flames and then it would match its environment as a piece of shit to overlook. Pathetic "place of business" this place is a joke.

The Utah is just around the corner from where we live, and had been closed down during the pandemic. We recently started going after wanting to switch it up from our local spots, and it didn't disappoint. The food is actually VERY good bar food, and our favorite to get is the Buffalo Wings which are probably the best Buffalo wings I've ever had. The recipe is over 20 years old, and on Wednesday, you can order as many as you want for $1 each. Another favorite is the Patty Melt, which you can order with tots. The staff is friendly and attentive, especially Vince who we met last week. Would highly recommend as a new favorite spot for locals!

Good ole Hotel Utah Saloon. Great for a casual evening of catching up without the frills. They have a small bar with few bar stools but they have a back area for the band, and above it is another small seating area. Perfect to watch said band. Did I also mention they have tots? We got the one with chili and cheese, perfect for drinks. One bathroom. Pretty grimy but it's what you'd expect at a dive bar. Bartenders are really nice though. And one has a really cute dog that he brings in. The dog comes in on Thursdays.

The wings here are amazing! The bartenders are super great, especially Stefano! It's a laid back and fun atmosphere. The best Bloody Mary I've ever had (and I usually don't order them when I'm out because I can't stand them at most places). A Photo Booth in the back. A beautiful historical property. Definitely will be back here.

Wow. Just wow. Vince the bartender is the most unprofessional, rude, arrogant man I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. We came to watch our son's band perform and had to listen to him berate them when he thought we weren't listening. We have traveled to multiple cities and multiple venues spending lots of money at all of them. Never once have we encountered a person so horrifically disrespectful. I don't understand how this place stays in business with this level of service and arrogance. I am aware that I said arrogant more than once. Hopefully that drives the point home. We did not stay at the hotel, but it looks pretty rundown even from the outside. The bar space is tiny, and they have no business bringing in large scale bands. I hope this place wakes up and realizes Vince is a liability with his offensive threats and remarks that could be interpreted as racism. We had planned to hang out at the bar to have dinner and drinks but decided to walk down the street to much better establishments. We refuse to give him any of our money. It's unfortunate, because we were looking forward to visiting this historic building. Do not waste your time or money if Vince is there unless you feel like getting pissed off.

My friends and I went in to this establishment tonight and got no service at all. We all sat at the bar and waited but the two bartenders barely even looked our way. They served other customers but didn't bother to come up to us to take our orders. We left after 20 minutes of just sitting there and being ignored.

This bar contains the stories of almost 110 years so depending on what you need that night, it'll welcome you in like a close neighbor. If you wanna come in and lean into the wisdom of the beautiful bar, there is plenty on tap and also specialty drinks. When I bellied up to the bar to order there were guys and gals in jeans, some hipsters, Minnie Mouse (warming up to go on stage) and some dressed up to hit the town. If you want to let loose of the week's stress come on in, hear some fun bands - different themes every night - and dance your buns off. Their downstairs stage packs them in and the cover bands I heard were as fun as they were nostalgic! I didn't even make it upstairs, gotta save something for next time. I'll be back, my close friend lives right around the corner!

Very bad . Most of Bartander are drunk . They don't even know what they are doing .. If you wanna have a bad night. Then come to this place eat and drinks . 40 minutes to get a salad . 45 minutes to get some fries. Bartander can not handle a glass of beer to serve you cuz he was on D... I really wanted to like this place since I live across the street. My bf and I came on their Wing Wednesday and ordered a chicken sandwich, wings, and two beers. They gave us someone else's cold chicken sandwich, and apparently lost our ticket until we asked 35mins later for our beer and food. Thankfully they fixed it, but we spent ages waiting around the counter for one of the bartenders to address us. Meanwhile, other guests that came after us were being served drinks and chatted to by the bartender. Wings were pretty good. So was beer, and the chicken sandwich, when it was fresh. Overall, I was left incredibly unhappy waiting almost 40 minutes for food and drinks and being ignored. Please get your customer service organized.

Fantastic bar, club & institution of SF and the Bay Area. Full bar with bites and supports local music to this day. Cool music space with loads of character. Yhree thumbs up and two snaps in a circle.

The Utah is back baby! Like a time warp to the Sf of yore. Great new crew slinging drinks and being absolutely awesome. Music is back too. CoMe back and get back into the groove of what SF is all about. Killin' it! Respect.

Holy shit the food got the pork belly and fried green tomato blt. Amazing from the cream corn Aioli to the grilled sourdough just amazing. Food is a 10/10 must go to

I was visiting San Francisco for for the week and I happened upon this place. Honestly one of the best places I've been in my life. Stefano has got to be one of the best bartenders and was the best person I met in San Francisco my entire visit. The bloody Mary's are great (a little spicy)!!!!!! The wings are great! If you're visiting or live here this is a must go!

Came here to see a band play and tried out the food while I was here. First of all its got a really good dive bar vibe and an epic wooden bar. I appreciate both things equally. At the suggestion of the bartender, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. I chose Buffalo style (other options were plain or bbq) with hand cut french fries and a drink while I was waiting for the show to start. The good: the sandwich was really good! I wasn't sure I'd I made the right decision to go with buffalo style because at most places that means drench it in Tabasco sauce and slam it between two slices of bread - in effect overpowering the chicken, the crisp fried breading, the bread, and anything else that happened to be in there. The sandwich from the Utah had just enough buffalo sauce to give it flavor yet still allow me to taste the thin sliced onions, tomato and lettuce on the very tasty, homemade?, roll. Then there was the blue cheese sauce on the bread. It was the perfect compliment to the Buffalo sauce. Thick enough to taste on the chicken but not overpowering with sharp blue cheese flavor. The fries were cooked well and seasoned well. The whole meal was well worth the $12 price tag. Seriously, do yourself a favor if you like fried chicken sandwiches and get this ASAP! The bad: nothing The mediocre: As long as you like dive bars, then nothing is mediocre. If you're a stickler for clean bathrooms and perky, corporate servers, you might not be happy here. Stick to Red Robin or Chipotle. Overall: fun dive bar with very intimate music venue featuring live music and open mic nights. When I say very intimate, I'm not exaggerating. It is one of the smaller live venues I've been to. There's a downstairs that can gold maybe 25 comfortably - including the band - and an upstairs that might maybe hold another 20 people. That's it. I'll come back to the Utah if for no other reason than the chicken sandwich!

Been coming here for years, and have recently started coming back for the live local bands. This sort of thing used to be pretty commonplace in SF but sadly, while so many people moved here for the art, music and food, it's hard to afford to live here as an artist, musician, or anyone short of a head chef or sommelier. Great service, strong drinks, plenty of good seating, and fantastic for groups.

This place is AMAZING. YES there are people who stick to themself.....SO go find people who are alone. this bar had me meet like 6 people from all over the USA. The open Mic Night on Mondays is awesome. So much talent, and different styles from people performing. THANK ALL for making the night awesome

I remember as a kid, always being very observant as a passenger in a car. I remember loving the streets of SF because of all the interesting sights. I used to love the Doggie Diner Dog, the majestic skyscrapers, the cable cars trolleying along, the fog swallowing the cypress trees, the massive blinking Coca Cola Sign off the freeway, the street murals in the Mission. I was in love. Pretty much still am. Hotel Utah Saloon was a building included in my list. It looked classic SF. I always pictured Janis Joplin fucked up in a corner, with maybe David Crosby frying on acid in the bathroom. I have no clue if such things ever happened, but this place has been around long enough for it to be plausible. As an adult, I finally got a chance to step in. It was to watch my friend's band play way back in the day. Unfortunately due to a serious altered state of mind, I don't remember much of that night (thanks to youthful drunk-assed-ness). I do remember it being dark, cramped and hot. In other words, I didn't feel that comfortable. Recent visit had us just chilling in the bar. Even though the bar has a lot of character, it is really showing its age. It even smells old. After having a couple of drinks, it just felt like a place I didn't want to linger in for too long. Which is fine because there are plenty of other options in the area. But to pregame here and drink for less than $10 per call, is straight money. You aren't going to find anything cheaper at the ballpark or any of the neighboring restaurants. For that Hotel Utah, you get an extra star, along with my occasional patronage.

total dive bar but in a very comfortable and casual way. excellent value, great bartenders. we came after work and looked more like FiDi yuppies than the rest of the customers but were treated really nicely by the bartender. very welcoming. a good selection of beers on tap in in the bottle I've been here a few times now and highly recommend it (especially since there are some outstanding restaurants within a few blocks and this would be a great place to stop for a pre-dinner drink

It's a dive but the woodwork around the bar is beautiful. Spent an afternoon there catching up with friends and enjoying a few Ft. Point Kolsches. A regular customer decided to buy everyone a shot of a tasty concoction made with 4 different whiskeys and a bit of peach schnapps. Whatever it was--it was delicious. The bartender on duty was great. Logan was his name. I need to hear a band here next time. I was surprised at how small and narrow the place is--wasn't expecting that--but pretty cool little spot. Really mixed clientele. Thumbs up.

They have open mic every Monday, which is a blast. Drink prices are reasonable and most of the crowd is friendly.. of course you get the occasional "artist" who thinks he/she is a superstar and doesn't play friendly with the peasants, but perhaps that's to be expected. The bar was busy, but the bartender was right on top of it and I never felt ignored or had to wait too long for a drink, which is awesome. However... if you're looking for a seriously talented open mic night, this may not be your place. We went because we'd heard it was THE place to go in SF for open mic, but I'm not sure I'll give it that one. Each person who signs up plays one song of their choosing, so a ton of different people play an assorted variety of songs (for some of the acts, I use that term loosely) and it ends up feeling like you're watching a talent show. Definitely interesting, though, and a super fun night! I'd recommend going at least once.

As a performer who just played a Saturday night gig... Worked hard to promote the show, as we all invited a bunch of people who paid to get in. You could not fit more people into the venue the night that I played and I still walked away with 3 dollars as a hard working musician. I will never play this venue again because they pay the sound guy out of the cut of the door, which is really unfair. This place needs to pay their sound guy with their own money and let the musicians make more money.

Hotel Utah Saloon has been around for literally a century! Such a refreshing alternative to all the fancy new bars in SF. The original wood inside this bar is probably older than any of the "reclaimed wood" used in the fancy "cocktail dens" that keep popping up and they all look the same. Of course I do love to drink a fancy $16 mixologist drink every once in a while. But I also love to see some place with real history behind it. Monday nights they have an awesome open mic that anyone can sign up for. I have never seen such a variety of performances and performers lined up in a single night. We had a lot of fun!

As far as a live music venue goes, it offers a very small stage, but that is also its charm. If you grab a seat upstairs, it's got a great intimacy and vantage point. Open Mics are also fun to check out local talent (or not) with a mixed bag of live music, stand up routines and poetry readings. If nothing else, this place has character.

Came here for an open mic night. Such a cool spot to chill, sit back and be entertained while enjoying -it literally could be ANYTHING from the menu. Pretty excellent pub food here. Tried the chill cheese fries. WILL GET AGAIN. Plenty to share with 3-4 other people.

Friendly service and ambience. There's a neat little stage downstairs and the crowd for the entertainment was just the right size without being too claustrophobic.

Came in after work on a tuesday and was served by Brandy, I think her name was. Place was mellow but awesome sf neighborhood dive atmosphere. She greeted me promptly with a smile, got my drink and even let me talk her ear off a bit and made me feel like she cared! Haha. She was great and so were the drinks.

Utah has been on my French Fry bucket list for a while, on a recommendation from a friend. I wasn't disappointed and was more than happy to check it off. The fries were crisp, salty and plentiful. With a side of ranch sauce or ketchup, you're set for a quick trip to French Fry heaven. But all in all, Utah is a pretty chill place to go to for after work if you want to wind down and relax with a beer and a side of fries. My only comment is that, this is a bar, and if sticky counter tops and the smell of beer isn't up your alley, this may not be the place for you.
