London’s New Restaurant Openings

"What used to be a Victorian police station on Chiswick High Road is now The Hound—a British pub and restaurant serving things like beer-battered fish and chips and flat iron steak. It’s from the same people behind The Cadogan Arms and The George, so we’re expecting good things." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Don’t believe the social media hype - You will be extremely disappointed! We visited for a friend’s Birthday, the service and food was very poor from start to finish. It went from bad to worse, service and food! The service was so bad, repeatedly having to ask for service, menu’s, food , drinks it become laughable amongst the table. For a place that is highly recommended on social media, The Hound fell extremely short of all our expectations in everyway. The small portions, inconsistent bland flavours, and high prices made the visit disappointing for us all. The food was at best “average”. Some dishes were so poor we had to send them back. It’s a reminder that social media buzz does not always live up to reality / expectations. While the decor is lovely and has a nice vibe there are much better places in London / Chiswick that has a good service, value with much better quality, tasty food. Overall, very over priced, very disappointing. We certainly won’t be visiting again ☹️

Big group of us came to celebrate a family event, we had a lovely room and staff were really attentive. They were clearly busy but never forgot about us and always made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing, and big portions! Loved the sharing dishes. Decor was beautiful, cant wait to come back again soon.

This place seems to be doing good business - it was busy. Great location and ambience. Service was good too. Food was pretty awful though. I had the prawn green curry - all spice and no flavour with three prawns and overcooked, stodgy rice. A Thai chef would have been horrified by the presentation - it looked like unidentifiable canteen food. As far as I am concerned, it was inedible. My friend had the steak which was very tough and chewy and she also gave up on. Very limited food menu so not many more possibilities for a good dish. I would go back here for a drink but never eat here again - there are so many better options for dining in this area. This place has potential but has to seriously up its food game!

Great spot on Chiswick high street. Lovely warm restaurant. Great proper British bar area with great selection of drinks. A Lovely glass conservatory for meals that appeals to all. I brought a delegate of people here from a number of countries and the atmosphere was great for conversation, beer and food. Football also on in the pub side for glimpses of the game. The scotch egg and puddings were fab. Everyone enjoyed their meals but the lasagne was over sauc, verging on swimming and should really come with a side included. A great traditional British venue

Positives - service was very friendly and polite. Restaurant is beautiful and cosy. Bloody Mary was great. Veggies including roast potatoes were good. Negatives - the roast is over priced and simply not worth it. I wouldn’t have minded if it tasted exceptional, but it wasn’t particularly nice. The pork looked deep fried and it was oily and fatty. The gravy was bone marrow, which also tasted fatty. When left on the table it did solidify. Beef was a little tough. The service, though polite, is slow. Overall, I really wanted this place to be great and worth revisiting, but at present it is not. The quality of the food needs to improve and the prices brought down to be in line with other similar bars/restaurants.

My friends and I found The Hound through Instagram and (despite being a bit of a trek for us) was completely worth it. We did see a some negative reviews and are so glad we ignored them. The black pudding scotch egg was soda bread with Guinness butter was so good! But the real deal was the sharing roast platter!! The pork was succulent with perfect cracking, the beef was rare and scattered with sea salt and the lamb… holy heck, was delicious and matched the sauce so well! We finished with the obvious sticky toffee pudding and a Black Forest trifle. A great Sunday day out. Highly recommend!!

I visited The Hound yesterday to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. Having recently moved from Canada to London, I was on my own and decided to treat myself to a proper British roast. Despite it being an extremely busy day, I was grateful that the manager found a space for me. The meal was superb—the roast was beautifully prepared, and the little touches, like the creamed horseradish, really stood out. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I loved the indoor terrace—it added such a nice atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

One of recommended pubs/restaurants in Chiswick. The food and drinks were great. The service was excellent. I was a bit shabby looking and soaking wet but they welcomed me very well. The place was really nice and cozy. They have a real fireplace, very nice. The toilets are in the basement. Overall 10/10.
