London’s New Restaurant Openings

"What used to be a Victorian police station on Chiswick High Road is now The Hound—a British pub and restaurant serving things like beer-battered fish and chips and flat iron steak. It’s from the same people behind The Cadogan Arms and The George, so we’re expecting good things." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

The Sunday roast was the best I’ve ever had. Got the beef and the mushroom pithvier. So full of flavour! Make a reservation so you get a spot. The garden outside was gorgeous. To top it all off, the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely delicious

We came here for New Years Eve with friends - had an absolutely brilliant time! The food was incredible (particularly considering it was a set menu and the restaurant was packed - we had a beetroot amuse bouche , salmon mousse starter and the most incredible rare steak with bone marrow. Service couldn’t have been more attentive and the live band was excellent. I work in events so spend my time eating at a lot of five star hotels - and really this was the best I’ve ever had. Many congrats the Hound - you surpassed expectations and made our New Year’s Eve wonderful! Denise

Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch and service. The atmosphere was buzzy but not too loud. The service was excellent. The Sunday lunch was fantastic. We started with Soda bread and Guinness butter which I would highly recommend. We chose a Roast beef Sunday lunch which was very filling with great selection of veg. To drink we had mulled wine which was delicious. We will definitely return!!

I had such an amazing experience, been taking care of mostly from Sergio, he is knowledgeable, very polite and has great recommendations! Service is very fast even on a busy night, drunks and food arive in no time, the taste is great! I had a couple of cocktails that were served with amazing presentation and taste! They also had Blue Moon on draft, which is my favourite! I had starter, main ( Beef Sunday Roast) and desert. The gravy for the roast is unbelievable 👌 Top notch! Kitchen closes 7.45 on a Sunday so I am very please I could make it on time and have this wonderful experience! Thank you the Hound!

I actually feel bad writing this - as the food was great and the staff too. We went for a Sunday Roast at The Hound today (we are locals) and had a booking. We arrived about an hour early (and were happily having a drink in the bar prior). I asked if we could be seated earlier since we were killing time - and a lovely man obliged. Everything was great. The roast was delicious! However, the table next to us were SO obnoxiously loud. It carried on for over two hours. I couldn't take in the end and didn't want to put the staff in an awkward position of asking to be moved/asking the offending table to keep the noise down, so in the end - I went up to the desk to wait (rather than wait for the bill). I explained that it was a totally ruined experience due to the noise. I went back to my seat - to take our drinks to the bar (given we were done eating) and thus hoping to get some peace. I asked upon leaving the restaurant area if it was 'worth saying anything to the table in question'. A lady told me that other diners had also complained about the same table and the noise. Whilst I felt validated that it wasn't just a 'me' problem, I do think the issue should have been resolved prior - as there's no point saying anything AFTER the fact. It was too little, too late - and a real shame as I visit The Hound almost weekly. An otherwise great Sunday lunch, ruined by obnoxiously loud patrons. I will return to The Hound, but really hope this matter was genuinely dealt with - and it wasn't just a way to fob me off. Staff are truly lovely people, so I couldn't help but feel disappointed overall. I hope someone will get back to me regarding this review.

came here on josh and ollies rec, And absolutely nailed it. it had a warm atmosphere and medieval feel in this traditional pub with Spanish acoustic guitar playing and candlelit ambiance, how the fish and chips and every part of the dish was delicious, crispy and fresh fish, the creamy potatoes, the deliciously seasoned mashed peas, and the tartar sauce to balance it off, and also had the croquette ham which almost have the delicacy of a crab cake. everything was just absolutely delicious and topped it off with a cider on draft. would try a different cider next time. otherwise everything else is perfect

Hugely disappointing. Our third visit to The Hound on Sunday was just so disappointing. When we arrived there was no welcome for several minutes. Eventually we were shown to our table in the conservatory, which features garden chairs that were incredibly uncomfortable. After a while a waiter came along and, without any greeting, put our menus on the table. He didn’t tell us what off menu, so let us order the three things they’d run out of. His manner never improved, and overall left us with the impression we’d inconvenienced his evening. We were subsequently served by four different serving staff, who delivered excellent starters - the beef tartar was the standout. Then came the mains - it was clear the quality of the meat was as good as it always is, but it was cold, and accompanied by rock solid Yorkshire puddings and mediocre sides. The chicken sandwich & burger were ok - not worth the money. Just poor from start to finish, and a world away from our previous visits. Won’t be returning

The Hound is very well located in Chiswick and it’s always packed whenever we’ve popped in. Always a good sign. Service was good and a great atmosphere in there. The reason why I have given a 3 star is for a couple of reasons which hopefully they may fix - - Roasts - everybody loves a roast but not everyone eats red meat but do eat chicken. We were about to order a roast but advised that they don’t do Chicken and it isn’t likely to be on their menu in the future. Such a shame - Chicken sandwich - ordered a chicken sandwich as stated in their menu but it came out as a burger. Okay it might just be a difference in the type of bread but we weren’t wanting a burger. Their menu just needs to reflect what they will be giving to you. - Overcharged us and we won’t get the refund for about 3 days. Also they add a £1.00 donation to your bill without mentioning this. We’ve noticed this a lot recently with restaurants and pubs. It’s a small amount but it shouldn’t be added automatically, small amounts add up and if it’s a charity it should be made absolutely clear what they are adding to the bill and the charity etc and the server should make it clear that it is optional and don’t feel like you have to include it. It’s always awkward when this happens along with added service charge etc even though it’s discretionary. These are all things that can be rectified and would be great if they could. We’d love it if they could introduce chicken roasts.
