"Sandwiched on the Strip, the Houndstooth is a true college bar. A fenced outdoor seating area is the first to greet you as you walk up, before you catch the large red marquee letters spelling out “Alabama” behind the bar. Grab a Pink Elephant, Houndstooth’s signature drink, in a red or white branded cup. Then head for a seat in front of one of the many large TVs inside or outside, or play a round of pool to work up an appetite. While the bar doesn’t have a full kitchen, a building next door contains Houndstooth To-Go, the bar’s takeout operation. Place your order online or at the bar for a white barbecue chicken sandwich with a side of onion rings or the shareable Touchdown Nachos, and wait for one of the runners to deliver the goodness in a to-go bag." - Jen Bowman

The atmosphere is always fun and welcoming, whether it’s game day or just a regular night out. The service is top-notch, and Olivia, the manager, does an amazing job making sure everything runs smoothly. She’s friendly, professional, and truly cares about the customers. The staff is great, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the pool tables and outdoor seating make it a perfect spot to hang out. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time!

Google
Game day tradition # 2 - spend some time at The Houndstooth before, during, or after the game! Their Thursday night Bingo is also a lot of fun!

Came here to pregame before the Iron Bowl. My buddy and I liked the outdoor area and all the other bars were just as crowded but less space. It was super busy, took a bit to get drinks but that was expected for how busy it was going to be. Overall chill atmosphere and great place to pregame the Iron Bowl

Google
Waited in line to get in after purchasing cover on “line leap” only to be told that the price of cover had increased and that we would have to pay the new cover price. The purpose of line leap is to reserve the price at the time of purchase but they refused to honor the agreement even though the expiration time for the purchase was for several hours later.

Came here and had a great time until we realized one of the bartenders had been double charging my wife for her single mixed drinks, and when we asked why, she said "people usually want doubles." She agreed we'd never asked for doubles but said she did it bc most people want it. My wife even commented "they mix weak here" after her first drink, I tasted and it was a fine single... but def not a double. Be careful here y'all.

Google
TERRIBLE!!! DO NOT GO!! I will not be back to spend any of my hard worked money at this place. I will have it all over social media at how bad this place and their employees are.

Yelp
The Houndstooth is a T-town landmark sports bar. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon during a Crimson Tide football game on TV. It has ample seating indoors and on a large street side patio. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. There are dozens of large screen TV's throughout providing good viewing of the Alabama game. We ordered some adult beverages and some bar food (wings, rings, fries and quesadillas). We were surprised when the food arrived at the bar in cardboard "to go" style boxes. ??? (The bar food comes from a related take-out place next door.). The food was good but the wings were very small (sparrow wings?) and the onion rings were disappointing as rings go - over cooked, breading crumbly and greasy. Alabama won the game clinching yet another SEC-West title. The place erupted in cheers and the bar cranked up Sweet Home Alabama which got everyone singing. Five stars for the ambience and service but three for the food. Hey, it's a sports bar, so I wasn't expecting a super gastronomic experience. Lots of spirit and energy on game day. The Houndstooth rocks. Roll Tide!!

Yelp
Spacious bar! We did not eat here, but a great place to watch a game and have some bevies! They had a DJ going and while there were plenty of folks...there was still plenty of room as this floor space is quite large at this bar. Service was friendly and the prices reasonable!

Yelp
The drinks are always amazing here and the staff is always polite and attentive. This bar definitely wins for the largest restroom I never have to wait in line to use the restroom at this bar. I think they have a TV on every inch of wall space in this place and if you ask them to change it they don't mind. The bathrooms are constantly looked after and kept clean. There's great outdoor seating and plenty of seating inside along with pool tables and bar space. We'll kept all around. Definitely recommend this place for big parties!! If they ever have a crawfish boil. Don't miss it!! I have been a few times and the crawfish are always amazing!! Great bar all around

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars in Tuscaloosa! Their $5 whiskey of the week is an awesome deal. I also love how large it is with a million televisions and 5 or so pool tables. The bartenders are really quick about getting you drinks too unlike some of the other places around.

Yelp
Came in town to visit some family and friends, I have been to this bar thousands of times! One of my favorites in Tuscaloosa. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with some BBQ chips. The burger was delicious! The bacon was thick and flavorful. I will order this again when I get to T-Town again ROLL TIDE!

Yelp
Love this bar. Great atmosphere . No younger college kids. Husband loves the pool tables. Manager/Bartender Olivia is the best. Knows her job etc

Yelp
I'm new to the area and have been here a few times. Each time was a good time. The bar staff is too notch.

Dylon S.

Yelp
Standard college sports bar. Cheap beers and lots of TVs. Came in for the national championship game and grabbed a table where the sound was on and the crowd was definitely all there for the game.

Bobblehead B.

Yelp
A great spot to enjoy a cold beverage with Bama fans and friends. Game Day or not, this historic establishment is a wonderful spot to kick back and discuss the latest happenings at the University of Alabama. The staff is great and efficient. Food selection is abundant.

Yelp
This bar is so trash. The bartender and the bar manager are suspish. Not only do they have a hard time getting your order right, if you pay cash they get mad if you ask for a refund. Bathroom Filthy! Staff dressed like they're working in a trashy dive. Smells awful. They argued with us because they got our order wrong and kicked us and then tried to make us pour out our drinks while being racist! A mess!

Yelp
I've been living in Tuscaloosa for five years now and this is by far my favorite bar. They have the most experienced, and nicest, bartenders in town. On Wednesday's they have trivia, on Thursday's they have bingo, and some Sundays they have whiskey lessons/classes with Olivia (the best bartender in all of Tuscaloosa).

Yelp
Went with my brothers on a road trip from New Jersey down to Alabama to watch a game and party. We heard this was the main place to go on gameday. It was a great experience that we were happy to have. People are friendly, good drinks, nice televisions, and overall great experience. Best nachos ever outside! They are a must.

Brian R.

Yelp
This place has bartenders too dumb or drunk to realize they are serving well drinks on premium drink orders.of course the bartenders are defensive and snarkey when called out on their mistakes. Avoid if you care.

Yelp
Stopped in from out of town on both Friday and Saturday night during the Texas A&M weekend. During any big game weekend you want a place that's alive and quick on the drinks. This place was perfect. The music was great after the game too. Not to mention they have a ton of TV's, some pool tables, and food options on the patio. I'll definitely come back and recommend.

Yelp
We came here for drinks after a basketball game on our first visit to Tuscaloosa. I could see this place being packed during football season and could be hard to get a drink. It is very large with plenty of televisions to watch a game . Luckily we came on a day that wasn't busy and had great service. The drink specials were good and while in Alabama you should definitely try an Alabama slammer.

Yelp
We live in Gulf Shores and with a condo in town. We absolutely love this place and the employees! We even drive up to watch the away games here bc it's a great Gameday experience. Locals are friendly and service is excellent even when they are packed out!

Meredith D.

Yelp
Standard bar, lots of TVs, great place to watch games if you get there a little early. Pretty basic drink specials and prices, nothing outstanding. Trivia, bingo and other nightly specials during the week are awesome with a group of friends considering they have booths to sit in. I've always had a good time here, no complaints.

Hunter H.

Yelp
In the height of irony my parents met here. Even though I was too young to go in I remember the original building and even though I never got to go in is like to think it's spirit is in the new building. The bartenders are friendly and you can play bingo on Thursdays, which is really fun.

Yelp
My favorite sports bar in Tuscaloosa by far! Best place to grab a drink and watch the game

Mason P.

Yelp
Fantastic bar!!! Great drinks, great service, great atmosphere!! This was my first visit to Tuscaloosa and they made it great for me. Had a great time!!

Davis P.

Yelp
Houndstooth has the best staff and the best atmosphere in Tuscaloosa. It's not a Greek or Hipster bar, anyone can have a good time.

Brad B.

Yelp
This is another Tuscaloosa institution you have to check out if you visit T-town. They tore the nice, cozy old shack down and built a big, glitzy bar in its place. If you visit on a Friday or Saturday night you may have to wait a while to get a drink. This is one the places to be seen in Tuscaloosa as it's located between the University and downtown. Parking is an absolute pain in the rear.

Yelp
I was severely cut this past weekend while at the Houndstooth watching the Florida/Alabama game. A bartender dropped a beer bottle, a piece of which bounced into our booth where about 5 people were sitting. The bartender failed to clean up after dropping the bottle. I sat back down in the booth after going to the restroom and sliced my hand open on the broken bottle in our booth. It was deep and required the attention of a paramedic, who happened to already be there since another patron had been severely cut by the same bottle. The bouncer actually asked the other patron to leave since he was "bleeding on their concrete." The paramedic informed me I'd need stitches in my hand. I asked to speak to the manager and was given the run-around until he finally poked his head half-way out the side door and asked me what the problem was. I explained and asked if they'd at least take care of my tab and the bill for getting stitches in my hand. He stated it wasn't there problem under Alabama law. I informed him that he was misinformed as to Alabama law, as I'm an Alabama attorney. He then slammed the door in my face. I've never been treated so poorly and will not be returning.

Yelp
It's alright. Standard sports bar with billiards and beer and darts. Trivia on Monday night was reaaally lack luster.
