10 Dallas Restaurants That Give You the True ‘Local’ Experience | Eater

"If you find yourself in Allen, Texas — a small city just 25 miles northeast of Downtown Dallas — don’t miss The HUB, an enormous entertainment space with a live music stage, movie theater, outdoor sports bar, and a wide array of food options, ranging from pizza to barbecue to tacos to ice cream. The HUB is a family-friendly venue, so in addition to draft beer and craft cocktails for the grown-ups, Pepsi is readily available for guests of all ages." - Taylor Tobin

Google
Nice vibe, good drinks, and nice staff. Food lacks variety for non-meat eaters. The app is not working, and I couldn't even order using it. I couldn't find good nachos... There is one restaurant serving chicken, but others all seem to only serve red meat dishes. Overall, it's good, but they need to work on their technology so that people can order easily from the app, and they should also improve their food variety.

Google
Great atmosphere for sports enthusiasts. If you're a Houston Astros fan, this is a great place to watch games for free. After moving to the area from Houston several years ago, I found it very difficult to find a place that shows the Astros game, so this place will do fans good. There's multiple small restaurants to choose from in an open building atmosphere and a huge screen for the main gathering area in the center. Will be spending lots of time here over the summer. Parkingmis is plentiful and very close to the restaurant and play area.

Google
Burger took me back to elementary school cafeteria. They were out of potato’s, onions and lettuce but it was a Sunday night at 8:00. Neat venue but it was like Arlington stadium quality food and pricing without a ball game. Tons of potential but I won’t be coming back.

I went to The HUB for the first time last weekend. My daughter and I got there at about 6-615 pm. It wasn't packed but there was a good amount of people there. We were able to easily find parking right out front. It looks like a fun place to hang out with kids. There were a lot of kids running around and playing. There were several restaurants/food options to choose from. There's even a photo booth! I haven't seen one of those in years and it's definitely an upgrade. We ordered a Supreme pizza and a Caesar salad with 2 sodas from Amore. The girl who took our order couldn't have been nicer! I will definitely be back to try the Taco place!

Google
Came for the advertised $1 mimosas and breakfast tacos! got a one-sip mimosa and full-priced tacos. No special deal at all. They even added a surprise “entertainment fee” because music was playing. Total bait-and-switch. Not worth it.

Google
I’m here for a work conference and I am so glad this is one of our outings. The vibe is cool and casual and so welcoming. the food, The Food, THE FOOD. The dranks is drankin’ baby! WHEW! I’m surprised I’m typing this correctly, wait am I typing this correctly? Anyhow! Everything was amazing and the restroom was CLEAN! 10 out of 10. I ate my food so fast I forgot to take a pic😬 but that’s a good thing right? Y’all check this place out. It’s family friendly and great for a casual date night. Or, you can come by yourself if your person is getting on your nerves and you wanna do some eat cheating. You know…when you eat without your significant other. Yes, it’s called Eat Cheating. Anyway, I said that already but whatever! Just come here, you’re welcome!

Google
Solid concept, small location, and no crowds! Went for lunch on the 9 for $9 deal. Food received was excellent. Smoked wings were incredibly tasty, slightly spicy, and so juicy. Chips were over seasoned which was nice at first but quickly got too salty to enjoy. Great portion for lunch! Downside was there was hardly anyone working. Person who took orders at Crave had to also come take orders at Local Smoke, she was so sweet, apologetic for the wait, and gave excellent service but one person can’t manage 2 separate “restaurant” faces. Not to mention I also saw her cleaning when I was leaving. She shouldn’t be doing the work of 3 people, that’s just crazy to me. I will say there was NO ONE there when I left lunch so I get the need to have minimal employees but left a bad impression on the service that’s provided as a whole by The Hub. Also the big screen outside needs to be playing a sporting event or something besides the silent funny short video clips. Inside was playing anything worth watching but I wanted to sit outside and enjoy to space and the big screen was disappointing. I’ll definitely be back to enjoy more of that Tuesday lunch special menu.

Google
Outdoor dining. The Mexican restaurant was the only one with service in the patio. They had advertised a Dallas Stars watch party but played college basketball instead. We were very disappointed.

Yelp
This spot has a great indoor/outdoor setup with something for everyone in the family. There's music, games, pool tables, outdoor seating, drinks, and a solid variety of food and dessert options. Our kids had a blast playing with other kids, though we had a few close calls with footballs flying near the eating area, something to keep in mind if you're sitting outside in that area. The kids enjoyed their burgers, but the food we tried from Macho Taco was a bit of a letdown. The taco salad shell was chewy and the toppings were minimal it was 95% lettuce, the ground beef tacos were bland and lacking in quality. The birria tacos were the highlight, our teenage daughter liked those. Ordering food was easy, but several drink machines were out of ice, and the staff didn't seem too eager to fix the issue. Overall, it's a fun place to hang out, but the food experience was hit or miss. This was our first experience at the Hub. It's not at the top of our list, but we may give it another try.

Yelp
We always enjoy visiting during the weekends with the live music on the main stage. Plenty of food options with a number of providers outside or on the main and 2nd levels of the larger building. Burgers, pizza, tacos, ETC's. Plenty of parking and always try and grab a space in the parking garage. It's also pet friendly. Check their website for the list of entertainers and the dates they are appearing. Make sure you stop by and give they a try. Enjoy.

Yelp
I think the place itself is niceeee . It's so much to do and to eat here . Kids can play while you relax , grab a cocktail and chill. Service was good . I will say the food personally was okay . The baked potatoes to me needed more meat . Ambiance is fun , chill, sporty and laidback

Yelp
Came here for a free concert. There is a bat and grill off to the side for easy access. It was a Journey Cover Band. Not bad at all.

Yelp
Perfect place to spend a few hours with family. It's very family friendly with a turf patio in the middle. Upstairs is a bar for the adults and downstairs has picnic tables and a whole area for kids all ages to hang out and play around. There's different options of food from chicken tenders to poke or burgers to pizza so you can't go wrong if everyone's craving something different!

Yelp
Local Smoke BBQ Restaurant I ordered the full rack of Baby Back Ribs with fries and mac n cheese. The fries were basic--nothing special. The mac n cheese had a strange, floury taste and the cheese sauce was watery. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest. The ribs were easily the worst part. They were dry, tough, and honestly felt like I was chewing on beef jerky. It seemed like they'd been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Even with BBQ sauce drenched over them, they were still completely inedible. I ended up throwing the whole rack away. The brisket baked potato was the only thing that was halfway decent, but it wasn't enough to save the meal. I'm definitely not coming back. I'm giving it 3 out of 5 stars only because of the nice ambiance at The Hub. Otherwise, this would've been a much lower rating.

Yelp
A small yet mighty spot for post-holiday festivities with the family. Thank God Texas is still relatively warm during the holiday season (as a New Jerseyan, that means a lot). Sample some burgers and tacos between your cousins and siblings, and peep the view upstairs and enjoy some sun!

Yelp
We came here for my friend's wedding kickoff happy hour. They had a section roped off upstairs and a live band playing until 9pm. The set up is very interesting, almost like a food hall. It is indoor and outdoor with plenty of seating. Outside is where all the restaurants are and they surround the lawn in a U-shape. There is a huge screen out there where they were playing NCAA games. Unfortunately, by the time we made it in from our drive from Houston the staff had already picked up all the buffet items so we didn't get to try any of the food. However we did try several of their premade cocktails. The cucumber Fresca was a little tart and definitely citrusy. It's good for a hot summer day cocktail. The Patio Pounder was their version of a rum punch and super sweet! The Watermelon crawl was not as sweet and had a tinge of spiciness from the Tabasco. That one was my favorite.

Yelp
First time visiting the hub, VERY cool atmosphere. But the restaurant inside the food hall called Republic wasn't great. It's upstairs, had live music which is why we came to check it out. However, the bartender was rude. We asked for a drink menu, she firmly said no. Then I asked for an espresso martini which is advertised on the Hub's instagram, her response was no we don't have those. This is a food hall, but also advertising as a restaurant. Which is confusing, considering this restaurant serves drinks in plastic cups. The food we got was called the hub club! Not good! It was about $16 bucks which in my opinion is rip off. I could of better a better sandwich at home. The chips that came with it was not crunchy, rather soft. Not fresh at all. Disappointing.

Yelp
Went here to visit and have lunch. I went to Local Smoke and ordered Big Tex Spuds and pork rind. My son went to Crave and ordered Cheeseburgers. Wifey ordered Chicken strips with fries. Friendly service, clean and well lighted place. There are other food stalls that we may try next time we return.

Yelp
I love the idea of this-indoor and outdoor restaurants with entertainment good for families or couples-all great! They offer an assortment of foods-great. They even have gluten free options! BUT-they food isn't great, portions are inconsistent and efficiency is terrible. It seems like fast food-you order at a register or kiosk, and then wait for your order to come out But, the one server behind the desk, wants to put orders in the register, not having customers use the kiosks. Then all the food piles up in the window, ready to go with no one to hand it to the customers. It kind of all doesn't work out, right I literally just ordered french fries and waited over 15 minutes for my order to come out. Then, I had about 15 fries. They were so bad I didn't even eat half of them. I think this could be a really successful concept, but I think the overall management needs to work on it

Yelp
Amazing for a group! Love that you get a text when your food is ready. Lots of food options and entertainment throughout the week. Great for a kid party, birthday, big family, etc.

Yelp
They are trying to create something cool here. They have more refinements to go so I am willing to keep coming back and hoping this place improves. I want a great local hangout. We have been several times. Sometimes the taps and mixes are broken.... And sometimes they work. There is a full bar upstairs tho. Just make the effort. The food court has several offerings. Most of them are blah. The fries and sliders at Crave are delicious. No vegan options yet. Great place to catch a sports broadcast on the big screen. My favorite thing here so far. They sometimes show a Disney movie. Lots of kids and parents let them run wild and thats a bad time. I don't like the kid management policy here. I can see from the reviews I am not the only one ha! The signal is not great here, only two bars on LTE so not a great place to come work although I have seen a few people trying it. Overall a decent place for groups and parents, and still lots of opportunities for refinement. Can't wait to see how they get better!!

Yelp
The Hub was an awesome experience great for families and a really nice vibe. The food was ok but a little salty the brisket. We had some issues with the order at the pizza place but the ice cream was fire! The pizza place rectified the situation the service was good in response to the issue but it was a little overwhelming. Really nice vibe for families

Yelp
Came here just for the scenery it was actually a nice spot they have five or six different places to eat, I tried a strawberry margarita and it was really good. There was a live performer singing country music and a basketball game on the tv. The service for the bar was really good! The volume was really loud but I enjoyed that you could walk around outside. Next time I'll be sure to try some places food . Also saw they have different things during the week I really thought that was cool.

Yelp
Drove to The Hub because I Googled where to watch the U.S. Open in Dallas and The Hub came up. Drove the 35 minutes only to find the Utah game was on all the screens. I'm more mad at DirectTV and the House of Mouse. I missed the LSU season opener and the second week of the U.S. Open because of contract negotiations . I went to The Hub from Bishop Arts in Dallas and nothing was playing but the UTES!

Yelp
My wife & I ordered BBQ from the Local Smoke food court Sunday Oct 27th. Shredded Beef BBQ sandwich & fries on one order and sliced brisket & sausage plate with two side items. They only have 2 side item choices (fries and Mac & cheese). The order taker actually asked me what side items I wanted. ‍ They get your cell # and text you when it's ready. It literally took 25 minutes. Never seen any BBQ place that takes longer than 5 minutes. When we sat down to eat, the fries were not hot and looked like they were fried an hour prior. The Mac & Cheese was not even warm. The brisket... room temperature and dry, and the sausage was closer to a jerky it was so dry and cold. I've never had worse BBQ. 25 minutes to get served this. The best part was the 2 Michelob Ultras were cold and tasted good. Obviously will not return to the Hub.

Yelp
First post of the year! Happy New Year all! Came here actually for NYE (even though I have been here many, many times). Since we cannot review each restaurant individually, I will give a brief summary for each of the places that I have been to first. That way, I do not waste y'all time :) Amore Pizza - Few times before?? 4 Stars. This last time? 2 Stars. Verdict? Since I come here often, I will try this place one more time. Crave - Each time has been consistent. 3.5 Stars. Local Smoke - 4 Stars. Republic/Spoke - 4 Stars. Ambiance - 5/5 - The HUB is like a mini version of Grandscape. There is a turf area, and restaurants surrounding. There is a large screen for sports games, or a stage for music. There are cocktail bars both on the bottom and higher floor levels. Staff - 5/5 - Everyone is friendly. No issues here. Food - What I have ordered from each: Amore - 2/5 - Supreme Pizza (last visit) - It was not good at all. I remember the previous visits, it was so much better, but for $30???? I definitely was not happy. I am HOPING that because it was NYE and it was packed that night.....maybe that is the reason why...but I still doubt it will be worth $30. They get one more chance from me (and we go there ALOT). Crave - 3/5 - Ordered their sliders at $5 a pop. It's good, not great. You can dress them up, but it'll cost ya. Local Smoke - 4/5 - Ordered the following: Belly Bits - $12 - 4/5 - Pork Belly Bites. I recommend. Smoked Fried Wings - $13 - 3.5/5 - Not bad, but a couple of them the skin was a little overcooked/burnt. Great flavor though. Brisket Sandwich - $15 - 3.5/5 - Pretty good sandwich, but I don't think it's worth $15. Republic/Spoke - Varies - 4/5 - Drinks. Priced like everyone else. Overall, the food is not bad, but I usually go there to drink and enjoy outdoor time with my family. I will contemplate giving Amore Pizza one more try, but I could use that $30 elsewhere (especially if the taste is the same). Will I be back? Because of the atmosphere and the fact that I can bring my pup, I will be back for sure.

Yelp
Perfect little family get away! This place is such a fun spot and so much to do in a few hours. Great for kiddos. The food choices are so good. The staff were so friendly, so helpful and our music band enjoyed the night out.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a fun place. Spoke has great cocktails. HOWEVER- do not under any circumstances get food from Local Smoke. I ordered brisket and it was NOTHING BUT FAT. Inedible. I've attached photos. For $15 and a 20%tip it was hideous!!

John S.

Yelp
Came during Chris Stapleton cover band. Waiting 57 minutes for 2 kids cheese pizzas. Which I'm fine with because of how busy they are. What I'm not fine with is when my kids finally get their pizza they are eating RAW DOUGH! I went to go show the expo in the pizza joint and he didn't care about it at all. Asked for new food I said no I want a refund and to talk to the highest manager here. He said that would be me. Then I asked him if that is him why are not not following health code and constantly rubbing your mouth and nose while handling food? Another manager came over and apologized which is fine. Again, I understand being busy. But to a point that you are fine serving raw dough to children? When they get sick I will be back to handle this situation. And with the health department

Yelp
I'm in. Think Houston Ice House on steroids and you'll be close to what the latest commercial success in North Texas real estate development is. There's a lot to like about this place so let's see how it shakes out. The only weakness I detect is,about 4 months out of the year( hot/cold) Its usefulness will be minimized. Why? Because its greatest asset is the wide-open design. Large inside seating areas open to huge outdoor spaces. The Hub is for good weather and it no doubt will be a huge hit. There are still restaurants going in but as of this writing, anyone should be able to find an adult beverage, beer, food and dessert to satisfy while watching the enormous Big Screen. Go and check it out.
google avatar

Ryanne D.

Yelp
Pretty cool places. Lots of space for groups. We were there working a party as photographers, but would definitely return w the fam or a date night. Not as many food options as I thought was there, but enough to each and have a variety.
google avatar

Martin K.

Yelp
Cool concept of basically an outdoor food court. Right now not much is open yet, so not as attractive and the choices are on the expensive side, but this has lots of promise. The options we had from Crave and Local smoke were pretty good for a place like this. We'll try it again once more places are open.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally a fun and family friendly place to go to that's near my house. It's all part of the Farm development in Allen, with housing, restaurants, and businesses..so there's a ton of construction going on. There's plenty of parking though surrounding the area and there's a parking garage that brings you directly to the Hub. Currently there's only 4 (BBQ place, sliders with kid friendly options, ice cream place, and a restaurant upstairs that opens on the weekends for brunch I was told) restaurants open with 2 bars, but there's several more that are coming soon. There's a big stage that has a projector screen equipped to play movies or sports games. There's plenty of seating and they have to staggered to where it's stadium seating-ish. There's bean bags in the front, followed by beach chairs, then picnic tables, and then electric fireplaces with patio type couches. The whole center part is turfed and the restaurants surround the area like a U. It's very family friendly and safe for the kids. We went for the first time on a Wednesday evening, for a double feature. I was looking at their website and it seems like every Wednesday is a double movie feature with family friendly films with mostly cartoons and Christmas related films in December. On game days or nights, they'll mostly put on the games and the website will detail which game will be displayed. For food, the best thing I've eaten so far is the 2 person platter at the BBQ place. It was yummy ! The proteins we chose were the sausage and ribs which melted in my mouth. It comes with an assortment of pickled vegetables and 2 slices of thick brioche bread. The 2 types of BBQ sauce it came with was pretty fun too, one was sweet and the other spicy, but the meat was seasoned well also. Overall my family and I had so much fun that evening and my kids had a great time playing on the turf and getting all of their energy out. I can't wait to go back and I've already started telling all of my friends about it.
google avatar

Joy M.

Yelp
Decided to come check out The Hub on a Wednesday evening before the cold front hits. Looks like it was movie night with a showing of The Incredibles. I think this is great, making it a kid friendly environment. They had cute bean bags set up on the open air lawn to enjoy the movies. Right now, there are 2 restaurants open, a bbq place and sliders place. The soft serve shop is also open. There's also 3 bars open. The drink prices aren't bad but it would be great if there is some sort of Happy Hour. Looks like there will be a pizza, Mexican and seafood opening soon. So there's a variety of options once everything fully opens. I am looking forward to some outdoor live music. Hopefully they will have some heating lamps set up for the up coming cold months.

Yelp
I love food hubs because you can order a variety of food to satiate everyone in your party. We took the kids here one morning and we all had a great time. We ordered pizza, hot dogs, and $1 mimosas. The kids played on the lawn and ran amuck without any judgment. The hidden gem was the arcades area in the Hot Dog restaurant. Don't ask about the tickets on your game cards because they have no prizes to redeem. I wish the variety was better, but I think they're making an effort as a sushi restaurant is under construction.

Doug R.

Yelp
The HUB is a place that I want to like, because the basic concept is cool, but it falls apart at the execution. Basic idea is a big food court where families can go and relax, have some food and drinks, and let their kids run around and play. There are lots of restaurants, so everyone can get what they want and dine together at a picnic table. For me where it all falls apart is the design of the hub, instead of feeling like a nice open air picnic, it feels like you are on the surface of the sun. The courtyard is so hot and stagnant on any warm sunny day, even if the temperature itself is not that high. Because of the enclosed nature, the heat just gets trapped in, and there is zero airflow. On top of this, since you are surrounded by concrete walls, the ambient noise level on a busy night is extremely high. To round things out, the food just isn't very good in average. I would liken the experience to the airport. It's full of names you know, and food that should be good, but ultimately it is poorer quality and service at higher prices because they know they have a captive customer.

Richard I.

Yelp
These poor restaurant owners are not going to survive with the small amount of business available to them in this location. Restaurants need high volume of daily sales just to survive and most of them here won't make it Greedy landlord just puts them in there and tries to squeeze the blood out until there's no more, then sues them for the lease

Lucy B.

Yelp
Great place to take your friends and family. And they also have options for adults with karaoke and a few bars. Overall great atmosphere.
google avatar

Marianne C.

Yelp
Fun local spot for watching sports games with friends and family. Set up like a food hall, in fact it's like a baby Legacy Hall. The most awesome part about this is even if it's set up as a food hall you can actually order for online from the restaurants site then just get up from your table when it's ready for pick up. It's very convenient and the most efficient way. No lines, just order, drink more beer then wait for you estimated time to pick up your food.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Had another Tribute band to catch at the Hub at The Farm so grabbed a slider while I was waiting. Second visit is just as good. I did the double burger slider to give enough meat.
google avatar

Arianna M.

Yelp
The vibes of this place give the same feel of legacy west food hall just outdoors. Very cute furniture and love the set up. We came to see Alex Aguilar perform and have a beer so we expected it to be a little busy. The atmosphere was nice until it came to the kids. Their "play area" was right in front of the stage, throwing things around with even a couple of going on the stage, which doesn't sit right with me. I do believe they should have an area where the kids can go that should be on the side or something, not right in front of the stage. Now the food.. prices were already making me hesitant to buy but we gave it a go since it was our first time (and i was a bit hungry after work.) When we did get our food, we were confused. A $10 frito pie and an $8 Mac and cheese (that tasted like Kraft) was the size of my palm and honestly a 2/10. Food lacks for the prices they display. Overall, I'd give our experience a 4/10. I don't think I'd be back unless invited or if they make some changes which i hope they do.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Meh.. I probably won't be back. If you have kids who need to burn off energy, then maybe this place for you. The first time I stopped by was so busy and had kids running around and throwing balls over tables of people eating. I left without getting anything. The second time I went, and it was fine. Less busy, but they were playing Jungle Book on the big screen outside. There's no dampeners inside so it's crazy loud and echo-y. The food seems a little expensive. $9 "street tacos" and $5 sliders. I opted for sliders and they were pretty good and bigger than I expected, but they weren't anything special. We also ordered the "tempura" chicken tenders. I don't know what happened, but they are definitely not tempura. They were fine, like any other fast food tenders. Again, nothing special. All in all, it has real potential, but prices are a little steep and way too loud and full of free range kids.

Claire L.

Yelp
(Local smoke) Food was amazing crawfish were perfectly cooked and seasoned came with sausage potato and a piece of corn my kid had the chicken strip meal the one strip was like a half of a breast so really good portion and my husband got the nachos which if you're not gonna sit there for four hours is more than enough food for lunch and dinner. Overall price of food was a little high, but quantity and quality of food was really good. Had one issue with a fellow family's dog coming in to our area but besides that the atmosphere was really good
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
The ambiance of the place is really nice. But I have to cut this review short as I got food poisoning from the Mexican restaurant. It's a good vibe to hangout with friends but the food was pricey and it didn't even taste the greatest. The real kicker though is I immediately started feeling sick after eating the mediocre tasting enchiladas.

Yelp
This is a hard one to review. Let me start off by saying THIS IS NOT A DATE SPOT. The hubby and I came in on a Tuesday night. There was a minions movie blaring over the speaker system and on every screen. The weird thing is there wasn't a kid in the entire place. Every table around us asked management to turn down the sound and we were all told no. It was just so weird that it was so loud! Apparently, there is an upstairs area, but that was closed to the public that evening we were there. The hubby and I ate at Crave Roadside Sliders. We both had the monster slider. It is brisket short rib angus slider, american cheese, sliced brisket, bbq sauce, pulled pork, queso on a roll. It was delicious! We also had the loaded fries. It's french fries, chili, cheddar, queso, bacon, sour cream, fresh jalapeño, green onion, and sriracha buttermilk. It was...yum! Over all great food, great concept, it was just so strange that a children's movie was playing at an obnoxious noise level to an audience of zero children. Our personal children are in high school and college, so we are not in the season of life that would enjoy this establishment.
google avatar

Jesika H.

Yelp
This place is a very nicr family friendly spot to take the kiddos or for a quick drink with a friend. The outside has cool spots to hang out and a big space for kids to play. We ate here and had dessert. It is still under construction so it will look like its not open from the inside. Ample parking.
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
Awesome and fun overall vibe. Love that it's kid friendly and a great outdoors spot that's super lively. Food is hit or miss. A few yummy things, but nothing stood out. Overall it was decent...like a 7/10. One thing to note...it all adds up quick after getting a few things from a few diff places. The food is def overpriced and very expensive for what it is. We'll still go bc of the atmosphere and super close proximity to home, but be prepared to overspend if you're gonna have food/drinks there.

Yelp
I order a chopped beef brisket and when I got it It looked like a completely different item on the menu. The waiter then told me it's what I ordered but it just looked different. After taking a bite it was the completely wrong menu item. I asked for a new one and they never told me it was ready even after the told me they would text me. Once I got the new item it was still wrong! It was missing half the ingredients and it was cold....

Yelp
I saw a post for national Philly day from The Hub promoting a BOGO on a brisket sandwich and it looked too good to pass up. I loved the red peppers & onions with the brisket and purchased fries from the vendor directly across from local smoke bbq.

Yelp
Our family has loved this place but lately it seems like cost control is taking over unfortunately and fewer events/people are here as a result. Pizza Flora is gone, replaced with an Amore Pizza. Prices are also quite high no matter which food outlet you choose. The free kids snack pack helped to offset that but that has since gone away (was a free box kit of popcorn, gummy bears, frozen drink) and has been replaced with a $3 popcorn box. Hopefully things change back the other direction...and soon.

Yelp
Wow, this is the coolest spot in Allen! Lots of room for families with pets or just hanging out with friends and watching Chive TV on the big screen. It's alot like Legacy Hall but on a smaller scale. The restaurants are also the same where you order at the counter. Not many are open right now but more to come soon. Be sure and register for the Red card- It's $9 a month and you will be able to attend special events.

Yelp
OMG Was here for Texas OU game today and it was packed. HUB staff allowed unsupervised kids to throw footballs in and around large groups of adults for the entire game. I watched one woman get hit in the head and the kids just continued on playing. Needless to say no parents in sight. No thanks HUB..... it was like being at a Chuckee Cheese without the video games. If you like screaming unsupervised children this is your place.... if you want a more adult experience I suggest you avoid.

Yelp
The Hub is a gem of a place right on the Allen/McKinney borders. I love their outdoor atmosphere and live music! We took my two year old and he was entertained the whole time with the green outdoor space! Great food as well!

Yelp
The HUB is finally open. We have been waiting for construction to finish and open up. We came here for one of their events. The critters were visiting the HUB offering the kids a free petting zoo experience. Once I arrived here following my GPS I actually got a little lost trying to find parking. They were still many construction trucks and workers everywhere that I easily missed the sign for their parking structure. And seeing some folks turning around and making uturns where you shouldn't made me guess that I wasn't the only one having hard time finding parking. Once everything is finished there will be plenty of parking space! While the petting zoo was being set up the kids had so much fun running around the green field area and just playing with their bean bags. I noticed that some food places are open and offering food, dessert and drinks. Some are still being finished. Although we didn't get anything to eat at the time as we were too busy with looking and petting at the cute farm animals. We will be back to try some of their restaurant. Definitely a great place to hang out with family or friends. Something Allen was missing and finally has! A great family friendly outdoor area with many food options! Love the vibe!

Yelp
Food is average and service is good depends on where you are in the area. The outside is fantastic to watch any/all sports. They even have family nights where they play movies. The Sunday brunch special on mimosas ROCK!

Yelp
Amore pizza was IMO expensive red baron pizza. Granted, I'm a pizza snob, but pizza should be relatively easy to be good? Right? The pepperoni slice I had the crust was too thick for the doneness and overly sauced.

Yelp
Spend a fortune, get so-so food. Three of us ate at Local Smoke. Let's start with the cost. 15 bucks for a small BBQ sandwich. No side - just the sandwich. It's no bigger than a Quarter Pounder bun. The BBQ was dry with little flavor. Honestly even Dickey's would be better, and Dickey's is the low bar. $16 and $17 for their stuffed potato which is about 10 bucks too much for what you get. You get much more for a lot less at Jasons. Add 4 bucks for side potato salad... seriously!.... 4 bucks! Add $3.5 for a coke and you have 3 people eating for 80 Bucks!! On top of that, the HUB will charge you a 1% entertainment tax even if there isn't any entertainment. Honestly this was at lunch with maybe 6 other people there. The place was empty. Who was the entertainment? Let's talk about the service. They screwed up our order twice, not once, but twice. And both mistakes were on their side where they didn't charge us for an item or accidentally rang up a cheaper item. Both mistakes caused us to have to wait longer for our order. Most any other business would have just eaten the mistake because it was their fault. Not this place. They actually had the audacity to charge us for their mistake even though it had a negative impact on our dining experience. That is one guaranteed way to ensure a customer will never return, and I can guarantee you we will not be returning to this place.
